RESUMO – As mudanças oriundas da Base Nacional Comum Curricular (BNCC) de 2017, afetam o ensino das Ciências Humanas e Sociais Aplicadas, no que se refere ao modelo de oferta transversal de suas disciplinas na etapa final da Educação Básica, o Ensino Médio, levantando questionamentos dos professores da área quanto à capacidade deste modelo em atender as demandas que se propõe. Esse artigo tem por objetivo analisar o atendimento dos livros didáticos utilizados para o ensino das Ciências Humanas e Sociais Aplicadas no Ensino Médio, quanto ao disposto na BNCC acerca das competências esperadas nos eixos temáticos, especificamente os componentes curriculares de Filosofia e Sociologia, de forma transversal. A metodologia utilizada foi documental, com a aplicação de técnicas de coleta de dados mediante a busca em bases oficiais e sites governamentais, a BNCC, o Referencial Curricular de Mato Grosso do Sul e dos livros didáticos: Multiverso Ciências Humanas (editora FTD); Prisma Ciências Humanas (editora FTD); Contexto e Ação (editora Scipione); Diálogos em Ciências Humanas (editora Ática); Humanitas (editora Saraiva). Conclui-se com esse estudo que as mudanças oriundas da reforma educacional advinda da BNCC para o ensino das Ciências Humanas e Sociais Aplicadas causam impactos no desenvolvimento do processo educacional dos alunos, visto que o material analisado não atende ao que se propõe quanto à sua função de apoio pedagógico, sendo observado que as imposições oriundas desta mudança divergem em suas recomendações. ABSTRACT -The changes arising from the 2017 National Common Curricular Base (BNCC) affect the teaching of Applied Human and Social Sciences, with regard to the transversal offer model of its subjects in the final stage of Basic Education, High School, raising questions from the teachers in the area as to the capacity of this model to meet the demands that it proposes. Congenital Zika syndrome (CZS) is a cluster of malformations induced by Zika virus (ZIKV) infection and the underline mechanisms involved in its occurrence are yet not fully understood. Along with epidemiological and environmental factors, the genetic host factors are suggested as important to the CZS occurrence and development, however, few studies have evaluated this. This study enrolled a total of 245 individuals in a case–control association study compound a cohort of high specific interest constituted by 75 mothers who had delivered CZS infants, their 76 infants, and 47 mothers that had delivered healthy infants, and their 47 infants. Sixteen single-nucleotide polymorphisms on TREM1, CXCL10, IL4, CXCL8, TLR3, TLR7, IFNR1, CXCR1, IL10, CCR2 and CCR5 genes were genotyped to investigate their association as risk factors to CZS. The results show an association between C allele at TREM1 rs2234246 and C allele at IL4 rs224325 in mothers infected with ZIKV during pregnancy, with the increased susceptibility to CZS occurrence in their infants and the SNP CXCL8 rs4073 and the G allele at CXCL10 rs4508917 with presence of CZS microcephaly in the infants. Furthermore, the T allele at CXCL8 rs4073 and TRL7 rs179008 SNPs were associated with the severity of microcephaly in children with CZS. These results suggest that these polymorphisms in genes of innate immune responses addressed here are associated to increased risk of occurrence and severity of CZS in pregnant mothers infected with ZIKV and their CZS infants.

Encounters between flowers and invertebrates are key events for the functioning of tropical forests. Assessing the structure of networks composed by the interactions between those partners enables a better understanding of ecosystem functioning and the effects of environmental factors over ecological processes. Gathering such data is, however, costly and time-consuming, especially in the highly diverse tropics. We aimed to provide a comprehensive repository of the available flower-invertebrate interactions information for the Atlantic Forest, a South American tropical forest domain. Data were obtained from published works and "grey literature", such as theses and dissertations, as well as self-reports by co-authors. The data set has ~18 thousand interaction records forming 482 networks, each containing from 1 to 1,061 interaction links. Each network was sampled for about 200 hours or less, with few exceptions. A total of 641 plant genera within 136 different families and 39 orders were reported, with the most abundant and rich families being Asteraceae, Fabaceae and Rubiaceae. Invertebrates interacting with these plants were all arthropods from 10 orders, 129 families and 581 genera, comprising 2,419 morphotypes (including 988 named species). Hymenoptera was the most abundant and diverse order with at least six times more records than the second-ranked order (Lepidoptera). The complete data set shows Hymenoptera interacting with all plant orders, also depicting Diptera, Lepidoptera, Coleoptera, and Hemiptera as important nodes. Among plants, Asterales and Fabales had the highest number of interactions. The best sampled environment was forest (~8,000 records), followed by pastures and crops. Savanna, grasslands and urban environments (among others) were also reported, indicating a wide range of approaches dedicated to collect flower-invertebrate data in the Atlantic Forest domain. Nevertheless, most reported data were from forest understory or lower strata, indicating a knowledge gap about flower-invertebrate interactions at the canopy. Also, access to remote regions is still a limitation, generating sampling bias across the geographical range of the Atlantic Forest. Future studies in these continuous and hard to access forested areas shall bring important new information regarding the interactions between flowers and invertebrates at the Atlantic Forest. Peppers need to be characterized for the in situ conservation of species that might be important for breeding purposes. In this study, we characterized the diversity of 23 pepper genotypes through eight qualitative and 12 quantitative descriptors. The pepper samples were collected from the city of Manaus and in the municipalities of Rio Preto da Eva and Iranduba in the state of Amazonas. We performed descriptive analysis, analysis of variance, Pearson’s correlation analysis, and principal component analysis (PCA) and used the unweighted pair group method with arithmetic mean (UPGMA) to analyze the data. The differences between the genotypes for all descriptors evaluated were significant. Among the genotypes collected, four pepper species were identified, including Capsicum chinense (14 genotypes), Capsicum frutescens (two genotypes), Capsicum baccatum (one genotype), and Capsicum annuum (four genotypes), and two other genotypes were obtained with unidentified species. The PCA and UPGMA clustering methods could be used to efficiently differentiate between the genotypes by applying quantitative and qualitative descriptors of fruits and seeds. These methods helped to identify different genotypes (G1 and G15) and separate them into distinct groups associated with the distribution of species based on quantitative data only. Overall, our findings suggested that the genetic variability in Capsicum available in the State of Amazonas might be useful in breeding programs. RESUMO As pimentas precisam ser caracterizadas para a conservação in situ da espécie que possam ser importantes para fins de reprodução. Neste estudo, caracterizamos a diversidade de 23 genótipos de pimenta por meio de oito descritores qualitativos e 12 quantitativos. As amostras de pimenta foram coletadas na cidade de Manaus e nos municípios de Rio Preto da Eva e Iranduba no estado do Amazonas. Realizamos análise descritiva, análise de variância, análise de correlação de Pearson e análise de componentes principais (ACP) e usamos o método de grupo de pares não ponderados com média aritmética (UPGMA) para analisar os dados. As diferenças entre os genótipos para todos os descritores avaliados foram significativas. Dentre os genótipos coletados, foram identificadas quatro espécies de pimenta, sendo elas Capsicum chinense (14 genótipos), Capsicum frutescens (dois genótipos), Capsicum baccatum (um genótipo) e Capsicum annuum (quatro genótipos), e outros dois genótipos foram obtidos com espécies não identificadas. Os métodos de agrupamento ACP e UPGMA podem ser usados para diferenciar eficientemente os genótipos por meio da aplicação de descritores quantitativos e qualitativos de frutos e sementes. Esses métodos ajudaram a identificar diferentes genótipos (G1 e G15) e separá-los em grupos distintos associados à distribuição das espécies com base apenas em dados quantitativos. No geral, nossos achados sugerem que a variabilidade genética em Capsicum disponível no Estado do Amazonas pode ser útil em programas de melhoramento.

Este artigo apresenta a experiência do Observatório da Educação (OE) e a sistematização de diferentes bases de dados públicos por meio da inteligência de dados, responsável por organizar informações e expô-las de uma forma que sejam mais facilmente analisadas, interpretadas e com isso contribuir para a melhoria da gestão educacional. Dá-se destaque à criação do OE e sua articulação com os objetivos do PAR/FNDE. O OE tem como finalidade captar, organizar e divulgar os dados educacionais da região do Médio Paraíba do Sul, permitindo a socialização da informação e, principalmente, o uso dos dados para melhoria da gestão educacional. Utiliza-se como abordagem técnica a inteligência de dados, cuja ênfase está na transformação de dados em informações e conhecimentos importantes para auxiliar no processo de tomada de decisão. Os passos tomados (estruturação, operação, divulgação) são apresentados. Apresenta-se detalhadamente os Blocos Temáticos que constituem o Painel de Indicadores gerado, oferecendo aos gestores uma riqueza de oportunidades de uso para as tomadas de decisão do seu dia a dia de trabalho, inclusive sobre os impactos da COVID-19 na Educação Básica. Nossos resultados oferecerem aos gestores educacionais melhores condições para a tomada de decisões e consequentemente para uma melhoria da educação na região.Palavras chave: Observatório da Educação. Himatanthus sucuuba é uma espécie arbórea amazônica, de importância na medicina popular devido às suas propriedades terapêuticas. As estimativas da viabilidade de sementes dessa espécie ainda são escassas, tornando-se necessário o desenvolvimento de testes rápidos que permitam a avaliação da qualidade das sementes. O objetivo deste trabalho foi adequar a metodologia para a realização do teste de tetrazólio e verificar a viabilidade das sementes armazenadas de Himatanthus sucuuba comparando os resultados dos testes de germinação e tetrazólio. Para o precondicionamento, as sementes foram imersas em água destilada por períodos de 4, 8, 12 e 14 horas a 25°C. Posteriormente, foi realizada a coloração dos tecidos, pela imersão em solução de tetrazólio 0,025%, 0,075% e 0,100% por 90 minutos a 40°C no escuro, e para a avaliação as sementes foram distribuídas em seis classes. Paralelamente, foram conduzidos testes de germinação em câmara BOD a 30°C, estabelecendo-se critérios para avaliação da viabilidade e do vigor. O delineamento experimental foi o inteiramente casualizado, e a comparação de médias foi realizada pelo teste de Tukey a 5% de significância. O teste de tetrazólio na concentração de 0,075% a 40°C durante 90 minutos mostrou-se eficiente para avaliar a viabilidade e vigor das sementes de Himatanthus sucuuba. A comparação entre a germinação (78%) e o teste de tetrazólio (70%), não mostrou diferença significativa entre eles, concluindo-se que sementes armazenadas por 14 meses permaneceram viáveis.

Visceral leishmaniasis (VL) is a systemic chronic and potentially fatal disease for humans. Mechanisms related to the dysregulation of the inflammatory response may be involved in both the pathogenesis and prognosis of VL. Triggering Receptor Expressed on Myeloid Cells-1 (TREM-1) is a receptor constitutively expressed on neutrophils and monocyte subsets. The protein serves to regulate and amplify inflammatory responses. This study aimed to evaluate the expression profile of TREM-1 on the surface of neutrophils from patients with VL at varying time points during leishmanicidal treatment. For this purpose, neutrophils were isolated from the peripheral blood of patients with VL at different stages of treatment, which include 0, 7, and 30 days after treatment. Surface TREM-1 expression was assessed by immunophenotyping neutrophil populations. In addition, the association of TREM-1 expression on the surface of neutrophils with clinical and laboratory parameters and serum levels of inflammatory mediators was also evaluated. Results demonstrate a lower surface expression of TREM-1 in VL patients in the absence of treatment. However, increased levels of TREM-1 expression were observed 7 and 30 days after the start of treatment, with levels similar to those of healthy controls. TREM-1 expression was directly correlated with lymphocyte and erythrocyte count and indirectly correlated with spleen and liver size. Furthermore, elevated levels of TREM-1 expression were also correlated with lower serum levels of interleukin (IL)-22. Taken together, these results suggest that infection by Leishmania infantum leads to depressed TREM-1 expression on the neutrophil surface and may contribute to the inflammatory imbalance that characterizes active VL disease.

Visceral leishmaniasis (VL) is a vector-borne infectious disease that can be potentially fatal if left untreated. In Brazil, it is caused by Leishmania infantum parasites. Blood transcriptomics allows us to assess the molecular mechanisms involved in the immunopathological processes of several clinical conditions, namely, parasitic diseases. Here, we performed mRNA sequencing of peripheral blood from patients with visceral leishmaniasis during the active phase of the disease and six months after successful treatment, when the patients were considered clinically cured. To strengthen the study, the RNA-seq data analysis included two other non-diseased groups composed of healthy uninfected volunteers and asymptomatic individuals. We identified thousands of differentially expressed genes between VL patients and non-diseased groups. Overall, pathway analysis corroborated the importance of signaling involving interferons, chemokines, Toll-like receptors and the neutrophil response. Cellular deconvolution of gene expression profiles was able to discriminate cellular subtypes, highlighting the contribution of plasma cells and NK cells in the course of the disease. Beyond the biological processes involved in the immunopathology of VL revealed by the expression of protein coding genes (PCGs), we observed a significant participation of long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) in our blood transcriptome dataset. Genome-wide analysis of lncRNAs expression in VL has never been performed. lncRNAs have been considered key regulators of disease progression, mainly in cancers; however, their pattern regulation may also help to understand the complexity and heterogeneity of host immune responses elicited by L. infantum infections in humans. Among our findings, we identified lncRNAs such as IL21-AS1, MIR4435-2HG and LINC01501 and coexpressed lncRNA/mRNA pairs such as CA3-AS1/CA1, GASAL1/IFNG and LINC01127/IL1R1-IL1R2. Thus, for the first time, we present an integrated analysis of PCGs and lncRNAs by exploring the lncRNA–mRNA coexpression profile of VL to provide insights into the regulatory gene network involved in the development of this inflammatory and infectious disease.

Introdução: O cancelamento de cirurgias ainda é um desafio, causando complicações para os gestores. Ao observar a literatura, apontou-se que a taxa de cancelamento em um hospital universitário foi de 18,45%, com valor médio por procedimento suspenso de R$2.938,00, esse cenário é prejudicial visto que representa impacto financeiro direto. Objetivo: Dessa forma, o presente estudo visa avaliar o cancelamento de cirurgias e seus custos. Material e métodos: O presente trabalho coletou dados de cirurgias no HU-UFS canceladas no recorte de tempo 01-01-2015 à 10-02-2021, aprovado pelo CEP (93827718.0.0000.5546). Compilou-se dados sobre cirurgias de porte médio, para cálculo dos custos, utilizou o SIGEC - sistema de Gerenciamento de cirurgias do HU e SIGTAP - Sistema de gerenciamento da tabela de procedimento do SUS. Os valores p foram relatados até três casas decimais. Em todos os testes, foram usados o nível de significância alfa bicaudal = 0,05. Análise estatística executada no programa Biostat versão 5.3. HIV-infected patients have increased cardiovascular event rates but data on the prevalence of subclinical atherosclerosis are not uniform. Methods: HIV-infected patients underwent to coronary tomography for CACs assessement. We performed a comparison between 97 HIV-infected patients and 129 seronegative healthy controls. The univariable analysis matched the association of HIV infection, cardiovascular risk profile, and HIV-related factors with subclinical atherosclerosis. The morphology allows to identify and distinguish characters from the growth phases, as well as supports the studies of seed technology in the adequacy of protocols to evaluate the quality of the seed. The genus Jatropha is distinguished by its economic importance and by its diverse uses, mainly as medicinal. Considering their characteristics and economic relevance, we sought to investigate and illustrate the morphology of the seeds and the development of the seedling of Jatropha gossypiifolia L. and Jatropha podagrica Hook and assist in the propagation of the species. The seeds were collected in the city of Boa Vista (RR). The physical and biometric aspects were measured, the morphological characteristics of the seeds were described and illustrated, as well as the seedling development. The seeds of J. podagrica are larger than those of J. gossypiifolia, but they have similar external characteristics, such as hilum position, caruncle, raphe and chalaza, and internal, such as crass and fleshy endosperm, an axial embryo spatulated with foliate cotyledons. Both species have germination of the epigeal-phanerocotyledonary type. Aspects of seedling development differ between species in chronology, shape and position of the hypocotyl, epicotyl and eophyll.

The low concentration of N in agricultural soils in the Amazon is a limiting factor for economically and ecologically sustainable agriculture. In this context, the biological fixation of N is of fundamental importance, as it is a natural entry of N into ecosystems. The present work aims to evaluate an infectious capacity of rhizobia and the efficiency in fixing nitrogen in a Yellow Latosol. The present work aims to evaluate the infectious capacity of rhizobia isolates and their efficiency in fixing nitrogen in a Yellow Latosol. The experiment was installed entirely at random, corresponding to a factorial scheme of 6 (4 inoculants without nitrogen + without inoculant without N and without inoculant with N) x 2 (liming and without liming) in 4 repetitions. Liming increased the efficiency of the isolates and rhizobia native to the soil in nodulating the cowpea plants and stimulating the growth of biomass. The native rhizobia of the soil showed symbiotic efficiency similar to the isolates used as inoculants. The FCAN07B isolate is equivalent to nitrogen fertilization in relation to providing biomass gain in cowpea plants. The dose of 20 kg ha-1 of nitrogen was harmful to the nodulation of cowpea. La baja concentración de N en los suelos agrícolas de la Amazonía es un factor limitante para la agricultura económica y ecológicamente sostenible. En este contexto, la fijación biológica de N es de fundamental importancia, ya que es una entrada natural de N a los ecosistemas. El presente trabajo tiene como objetivo evaluar la capacidad infecciosa de los rizobios y la eficiencia en la fijación de nitrógeno en un Latosol amarillo. El experimento se instaló totalmente al azar, correspondiente a un esquema factorial de 6 (4 inoculantes sin nitrógeno + sin inoculante sin N y sin inoculante con N) x 2 (encalado y sin encalado) en 4 repeticiones. El encalado aumentó la eficiencia de los aislados y rizobios nativos del suelo para nodular las plantas de caupí y estimular el crecimiento de biomasa. Los rizobios nativos del suelo mostraron una eficiencia simbiótica similar a los aislados utilizados como inoculantes. El aislado FCAN07B es equivalente a la fertilización con nitrógeno en relación a proporcionar ganancia de biomasa en plantas de caupí. La dosis de 20 kg ha-1 de nitrógeno fue perjudicial para la nodulación del caupí. A baixa concentração de N nos solos agrícolas da Amazônia é um fator limitante para uma agricultura econômica e ecologicamente sustentável, logo, constata-se a grande importância da fixação biológica para suprir a demanda deste macronutriente nos ecossistemas. O presente trabalho tem como objetivo, avaliar a capacidade infectiva de isolados de rizóbio e a eficiência na fixação do nitrogênio em um Latossolo Amarelo. O experimento foi instalado em delineamento inteiramente ao acaso, com esquema fatorial de 6 (4 Inoculantes e sem nitrogênio, 1 sem inoculantes e com nitrogênio, e 1 sem inoculante e sem nitrogênio) x 2 (calagem e sem calagem) em 4 repetições, perfazendo um total de 48 parcelas experimentais. A calagem aumentou a eficiência dos isolados e dos rizóbios nativos do solo em nodularem as plantas de caupi e estimularem o crescimento da biomassa. Os rizóbios nativos do solo apresentaram eficiência simbiótica semelhante aos isolados usados como inoculantes. O Isolado FCAN07B se equiparou à adubação nitrogenada em relação a proporcionar ganho de biomassa nas plantas de caupi. A dose de 20 kg ha-1 de nitrogênio foi deletéria para a nodulação do feijão caupi.

INTRODUCTION: Chagas disease is a health problem that affects approximately 7 million people worldwide, according to the World Health Organization. Vector transmission is one of the most important routes in South and Central American countries. Between 2013 and 2019, municipalities of Sergipe sent 507 triatomines for analysis, unveiling the largest records found in the south in the villages of Poço da Clara, Alagoinhas and Pilões, and the municipality of Tobias Barreto. The high prevalence of infected vectors in these localities motivated this epidemiological study. METHODS: After educational lectures on the vectors and risks of the disease, a structured questionnaire was administered to identify areas and risk factors for transmission of the parasite. The data guided the collection of vectors and blood samples from domestic reservoirs. RESULTS: The studied region is considered endemic for triatomines infected by Trypanosoma cruzi with three species of vectors; the highest prevalence was Panstrongylus lutzi (54.83%), followed by Triatoma pseudomaculata (43.54%), and Triatoma tibiamaculata (1.61%). In the villages in this study, 100% of the vectors were found intradomically. The coexistence of residents with domestic animals was reported by 62.04% (255) of those surveyed. Forty-one small animals that were actively living with humans at home in the localities were evaluated serologically. No infection was observed in the domestic animals. CONCLUSIONS: There are favorable conditions for the domiciliation of triatomines in the evaluated locations, contributing to the risk of vectorial transmission of Chagas disease.

The study on the native species of fast growth and nodulation capacity, Ormosia discolor, intends to conserve genetic resources and make available seed lots of high vigor for seed orchards. This work evaluates the physical and physiological characteristics of seeds from 20 O. discolor trees as a subsidy for selecting superior mother trees. Twenty matrices selected from a population in the state of Amazonas were inventoried. Physical tests were performed on the seeds collected, including water content, biometrics, the weight of one thousand seeds, and coat permeability test. For vigor estimates and classification regarding seed storage, the seeds were frozen for five months. The germination test was carried out at a constant temperature of 30 °C. It was used a completely randomized design consisting of 20 mother trees, 4 replicates, and 25 seeds per plot. The germination characteristics evaluated were germination percentage, speed index, mean germination time, and synchronization index. Cut seeds are more efficient for determining water content. All biometric variables are representative for the selection of vigorous lots, with emphasis on geometric diameter, surface area, and sphericity of seeds. Species seeds were classified as orthodox and as having physical dormancy. The protrusion of the primary root is the best morphological characteristic for evaluating germination in the laboratory. The mother trees 7, 16, and 10 showed superior characteristics for dendrometric and technological data, being indicated for marking, phenological monitoring, and planting. RESUMO O estudo sobre a espécie nativa de rápido crescimento e capacidade de nodulação, Ormosia discolor, pretende conservar recursos genéticos e disponibilizar lotes de sementes de alto vigor para pomares de sementes. Este trabalho avalia as características físicas e fisiológicas de sementes de 20 O. discolor, como subsídio para a seleção de árvores matrizes superiores. Vinte matrizes selecionadas de uma população do estado do Amazonas foram inventariadas. Foram realizados testes físicos nas sementes coletadas, incluindo teor de água, biometria, peso de mil sementes e teste de permeabilidade do tegumento. Para estimativa do vigor e classificação quanto ao armazenamento, as sementes foram congeladas por cinco meses. O teste de germinação foi realizado a uma temperatura constante de 30 °C. O delineamento utilizado foi inteiramente casualizado, composto por 20 matrizes, 4 repetições e 25 sementes por parcela. As características de germinação avaliadas foram porcentagem de germinação, índice de velocidade, tempo médio de germinação e índice de sincronização. As sementes cortadas são mais eficientes para determinar o teor de água. Todas as variáveis biométricas são representativas para a seleção de lotes vigorosos, com ênfase no diâmetro geométrico, área superficial e esfericidade das sementes. As sementes das espécies foram classificadas como ortodoxas e com dormência física. A protrusão da raiz primária é a melhor característica morfológica para avaliação da germinação em laboratório. As matrizes 7, 16 e 10 apresentaram características superiores para dados dendrométricos e tecnológicos, sendo indicadas para marcação, monitoramento fenológico e plantio.

Background : The hooded capuchin that occurs in the Brazilian states of Mato Grosso and Mato Grosso do Sul belongs to the species Sapajus cay . This robust species of capuchin monkey is characterized by its highly varied diet. Although it is well adapted to the natural environment, the survival of this species has come under increasing threat. In fact, several animals have been rescued and taken into veterinary medical care, where its correct capture and restraint minimize the occurrence of adverse effects to the animal and to veterinary anesthesiologists. This paper reports on the emergency care of a hooded capuchin ( S. cay ) rescued by the Environmental Police of the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil, and sent to veterinary medical care. Case : An adult female hooded capuchin, weighing 1.6 kg, was subjected to veterinary care to treat trauma probably caused by being run over. The animal exhibited intense prostration, 10% dehydration, pale and slightly jaundiced oral and ocular mucous membranes, impaired consciousness, cachexia, muscle weakness, sarcopenia, a probable fracture in the proximal portion of the left tibia and a laceration and possible fracture of the right metatarsus. The patient was stabilized by subjecting her to fluid therapy with Ringer’s lactate solution supplemented with glucose and vitamins. The animal was anesthetized with an intramuscular injection of 11 mg/kg ketamine and 0.6 mg/kg midazolam, and blood count, serum biochemistry and electrocardiography were performed. Blood tests revealed hypochromic microcytic anemia, liver disease and a slight increase in urea to 56 mg/dL (reference: 14.4-48.9 mg/dL). The electrocardiogram revealed the following: HR: 260 b.p.m; P axis: -115.36o; QRS axis: 50.17o; T duration: 36 ms; R amplitude: 0.68 mV; P amplitude: 0.17 mV; P duration: 44 ms: PR interval: 52 ms; S amplitude: -0.12 mV; T amplitude: 16 ms; ST elevation: -0.05 mV; QT interval: 106 ms; Q amplitude: -0.2 mV; QRS duration: 54 ms. The patient exhibited tachycardia and sinus rhythm. Antibiotic treatment was administered via intravenous (IV) injection with 50 mg/kg ceftriaxone and 25 mg/kg metronidazole, while analgesia was administered subcutaneously (SC) with 2 mg/kg tramadol hydrochloride and 25 mg/kg sodium dipyrone and intramuscularly (IM) with 0.2 mg/kg meloxicam. The patient was stabilized and transferred by the Environmental Police to the Wild Animal Rehabilitation Center (CRAS) located in the municipality of Campo Grande, Mato Grosso do Sul, to continue its treatment, perform complementary tests such as radiography of the fractured limb and clinical and surgical treatment. Discussion : Proper physical restraint is essential to the success and quality of biological samples that are collected. Surgical procedures, simple clinical exams and the collection of biological material may all require the use of anesthetics, and the type most commonly used for the restraint of wild animals are dissociative anesthetics. Ketamine is an neuroleptanalgesic drug widely used in primates, and can be administered separately or in combination with other anesthetics, such as midazolam, to increase chemical restraint and anesthesia and enable handling of the patient. As for hematological changes, female nonhuman primates are known to undergo blood loss during their menstrual cycle, which reduces the parameters of the erythrogram. In the case of this capuchin, the blood count revealed hypochromic microcytic anemia, which may be related to the menstrual cycle of the species. With regard to biochemistry serum levels, liver function showed the greatest change, with altered aspartate aminotransferase - AST (368 U/L) and alanine aminotransferase - ALT enzyme levels (151 U/L), indicating possibly chronic liver damage. On the other hand, research involving Cebus flavius found that adult males had higher ALT levels than juveniles.

Prostate cancer differently affects different regions of the world, displaying higher rates in more developed areas. After the implementation of prostate-specific antigen (PSA) testing, several studies described rising rates globally, but it is possible that indolent lesions are being detected given the lack of changes in mortality data. The Brazilian government recommends against PSA screening in the male population regardless of age, but the Urology Society issued a report recommending that screening should start at 50 years old for certain men and for those aged ≥75 years with a life expectancy exceeding 10 years. In this study, we examined the incidence and mortality rates of invasive prostate cancer over time in the Sergipe state of Brazil. The databases of the Aracaju Cancer Registry and Mortality Information System were used to calculate age-standardized rates for all prostate tumors (International Classification of Diseases 10th edition: C61 and D07.5) in the following age ranges: 20–44, 45–54, and ≥65 years. We identified 3595 cases of cancer, 30 glandular intraepithelial high-grade lesions, and 3269 deaths. Using the Joinpoint Regression Program, we found that the incidence of prostate cancer dramatically increased over time until the mid-2000s for all age groups, after which the rates declined. Prostate cancer mortality rates increased until 2005, followed by a non-significant annual percent change of 22.0 in 2001–2005 and a stable rate thereafter. We noticed that the increases and decreases of the incidence rates of prostate cancer were associated with the screening recommendations. Meanwhile, the increased mortality rates did not appear to be associated with decreased PSA testing; instead, they were linked to the effects of age and improvements in identification of the cause of death. Thus, we do not believe a PSA screening program would benefit the population of this study.

RESUMO (Criptógamos do Parque Estadual das Fontes do Ipiranga, São Paulo, SP, Brasil. Algae, 45: Bacillariophyceae (Naviculales: Brachysira)). O levantamento florístico do gênero Brachysira Kützing (Naviculales) do Parque Estadual das Fontes do Ipiranga (PEFI), São Paulo, SP, Brasil, resultou da análise de 31 preparações permanentes de material coletado entre 1991 e 2017. As amostras de água e de substratos (macrófitas e rochas) de sistemas lênticos, riachos e do hidrofitotério foram coletadas e posteriormente oxidadas para análise ao microscópio de luz. Nove espécies e um morfotipo foram encontrados em 15 amostras de material do PEFI, sendo quatro novas citações para o Brasil (Brachysira cf. calcicola Lange-Bertalot, Brachysira frenguellii (Manguin) Lange-Bertalot & Moser, Brachysira huitotarum Vouilloud, Sala & Núñez-Avellaneda e Brachysira intermedia (Østrup) Lange-Bertalot). Brachysira subrostrata Lange-Bertalot foi registrada pela primeira vez no Estado de São Paulo. ABSTRACT (Cryptogams of the Parque Estadual das Fontes do Ipiranga, São Paulo, São Paulo State, Brazil. The floristic survey of Brachysira Kützing (Naviculales) of the Parque Estadual das Fontes do Ipiranga (PEFI), São Paulo, São Paulo State, Brazil, resulted from the analysis of 31 permanent preparations of diatom material collected between years 1991 and 2017. The water and substrate samples (macrophytes and rocks) from lentic systems, streams and the hydrophytoterium were collected and subsequently were oxidized for analysis under light microscope. Nine species and one morphotype were identified from 15 diatom slides, of which four species are new records for Brazil (Brachysira cf. calcicola Lange-Bertalot, Brachysira frenguellii (Manguin) Lange-Bertalot & Moser, Brachysira huitotarum Vouilloud, Sala & Núñez-Avellaneda and Brachysira intermedia (Østrup) Lange-Bertalot). Brachysira subrostrata Lange-Bertalot was registered for the first time in the State of São Paulo.

RESUMO (Análise de pólen em pelagem de morcegos Phyllostomidae (Chiroptera) no Parque Estadual Fontes do Ipiranga, São Paulo, SP, Brasil). A polinização é uma relação mutualística bem-sucedida entre morcegos e angiospermas. Apesar disso, pouco se conhece sobre a diversidade polínica presente na pelagem de espécies de morcegos fitófagos. O objetivo deste estudo foi registrar os tipos polínicos encontrados na pelagem de morcegos Phyllostomidae, a fim de identificar possíveis interações entre esses animais e as plantas. Para a captura dos quirópteros no Parque Estadual Fontes do Ipiranga, localizado na cidade de São Paulo, foram utilizadas redes de neblina entre outubro de 2015 e setembro de 2016. Os grãos de pólen foram coletados com pincel e água destilada e submetidos à análise em laboratório. Setenta e dois tipos polínicos foram registrados, sendo que os mais frequentes foram Alchornea (9,3%, n=20), Eucalyptus (5,6%, n=12) e Euterpe (4,6%, n=10). Foram amostrados 267 morcegos pertencentes a cinco espécies, sendo que Artibeus lituratus, Stunira lilium e Artibeus fimbriatus apresentaram as maiores diversidades polínicas em seus corpos. Neste trabalho, foram identificadas interações inéditas entre morcegos e plantas. ABSTRACT (Analysis of pollen on the fur of Phyllostomidae bats (Chiroptera) at the Parque Estadual das Fontes do Ipiranga, São Paulo State, Brazil). Pollination is a well successful mutualistic relationship between bats and angiosperms but little is known about pollen diversity on the fur of the phytophagous species of bats. This study aimed to record the pollen types found on the fur of Phyllostomidae bats in order to identify possible interactions between these animals and plants. Mist nets were used to capture bats at the Parque Estadual das Fontes do Ipiranga, municipality of São Paulo, between October 2015 and September 2016. Pollen grains were collected with a brush and distilled water and subjected to laboratory analysis. Seventy-two pollen types were recorded, of which the most frequent were Alchornea (9.3%, n=20), Eucalyptus (5.6%, n=12), and Euterpe (4.6%, n=10). As a total, 267 bats belonging to five species were sampled, with Artibeus lituratus, Stunira lilium, and Artibeus fimbriatus presenting the highest diversity of pollen types on their bodies. In this study, unpublished interactions between bats and plants were identified.

As lesões agudas da medula espinhal são comuns na medicina veterinária. A gravidade de uma lesão medular é mensurada por três fatores: tempo (duração da compressão), grau de compressão e, especialmente, velocidade (força) da compressão. O diagnóstico pode ser feito através de radiografia. Não se recomenda utilização de corticosteroides após seis horas do traumatismo e sim anti-inflamatórios não esteroidais como o meloxicam. O meloxicam possui efeito neuroprotetor. O objetivo deste trabalho foi relatar um caso de trauma medular por projétil em uma fêmea da espécie felina onde o tratamento de eleição foi anti-inflamatório não esteroidal meloxicam. Foi atendido na Clínica Veterinária da Faculdade Anhanguera de Dourados, um felino, SRD, fêmea, de aproximadamente seis meses de idade com paraplegia de membros pélvicos, sem resposta ao teste do panículo cutâneo caudal à L2, ausência de propriocepção bilateral em membros pélvicos, ausência de reflexos de dor profunda, reflexo dos esfíncteres uretral e anal diminuídos. No exame radiográfico da coluna toracolombar observou-se a presença de um projétil avançando o canal medular entre o espaço vertebral de L1-L2. Apresentou anemia normocítica normocrômica e leucocitose moderada nos exames de sangue. O animal foi encaminhado para realização de uma hemilaminectomia dorsolateral esquerda para retirada do projétil e descompressão medular. A paciente recuperou-se bem no pós-operatório e passou a realizar sessões de fisioterapia.

About 85% of pollinating bees are solitary, but few are used for agricultural pollination. The Anthidiini tribe looks very promising in Brazil, in the light of ecosystem utility, but it is still a species with poorly scientific research [EdM1] . To fill this gap studies on the bionomics of this species may collaborate on future studies on use of Epanthidium tigrinum as pollinator. Presented research results aims to describe the bionomy and the biological cycle of the bee E. tigrinum (SCHROTTKY, 1905) in pre-existing cavities. Conventional trap-nests inserted in wooden blocks were placed in covered spaces and daily observations of spontaneous nesting as well as individually tagged bees and nests incubated in B.O.D. were carried out during 11 months in Fortaleza-CE. The results showed that the competition with other species of bees for the pre-existing cavities and the lack of food resources or nest building materials are limiting factors for the establishment of E. tigrinum populations. However, once these problems were remedied, the bees showed multivoltine behavior, nesting throughout the experimental period. Data from 16 nests studied showed that bee foraging began on average at 7:50 a.m., foragers collected pollen in the morning and resin in the afternoon, took on average 15 days to complete a nest and there was a negative correlation with the temperature for the number of nests and for the number of cells constructed. The offspring took 43 days for the emergency, presented sexual ratio of 1.2: 1 (n = 66 emerged bees) and a mortality rate of 18.5%. The number of nests constructed per female ranged from 1 to 4 with an average size of 7.97 mm. It is concluded that E. tigrinum shows potential to rational rearing in trap nests aiming crop pollination. [EdM1]

Flowers with heterodynamous stamens can present differences in the pollen grains of each stamen size group. Species of Aeschynomene L. present didynamous stamens (five long and five short) but little is known about their pollen dimorphism. The objective of this study was to increase the knowledge about the pollen characteristics in Aeschynomene and emphasize the possible morphological differences between the pollen grains of long and short stamens in order to contribute to ecological and taxonomic studies. Pollen grains from the two groups of stamens size of ten species were analyzed separately, according to the standard methodology for studies of pollen morphology. In addition, analyses of variance, comparison of means and base index were performed. The results showed that the amb, shape, endoaperture type and sexine ornamentation did not vary in the pollen grains of the long and short stamens in the same specimen, but they varied among the species. However, in relation to the size of the pollen grains of the two groups of stamens, four species presented significant differences regarding the size of the polar and equatorial axes. The pollen morphological data obtained considering the heteromorphism of the stamens can contribute to the knowledge of the repro ductive dynamics of the genus, and to the systematic studies.

A malva (Urena lobata L.) é a cultura agrícola mais importante para a produção de fibras naturais no estado do Amazonas. Contudo, até o presente, a produção comercial de sementes se baseia em sistemas de coleta extrativa em áreas de ocorrência espontânea da espécie em municípios do nordeste do Pará. Portanto, o objetivo deste trabalho é contribuir para o estabelecimento de recomendações técnicas para o desenvolvimento de sistemas de produção de sementes, a partir da avaliação do efeito de diferentes espaçamentos no desenvolvimento das plantas e na produção de sementes. O trabalho foi realizado na fazenda experimental da Universidade Federal do Amazonas, localizada em Manaus, com material propagativo oriundo do município de Capitão Poço – PA. O delineamento experimental empregado foi o de blocos ao acaso, com três tratamentos: (T1) 1,0 x 1,0 m; (T2) 1,5 x 0,5 m e (T3) 1,0 x 0,5 m, com oito repetições compostas de cinco plantas. Foram avaliadas as seguintes características: altura das plantas (cm), diâmetro do caule (cm), número de ramificações, flores e frutos (verdes e maduros), peso das sementes/planta (g) e massa seca das plantas (g). Os dados obtidos foram submetidos à análise de variância pelo teste F, e as diferenças entre médias avaliadas por meio do teste Tukey. Houve diferença significativa entre tratamentos para as variáveis: número de flores, matéria seca da planta, número de frutos verdes, número de frutos maduros e o peso seco das sementes. O tratamento T2, com uma densidade de 1,33 plantas/m2 e produtividade média de 60 g de sementes por planta, é o mais recomendado para a produção de sementes de malva na região de Manaus.

Breast cancer is a major health problem worldwide. Analysis of breast cancer epidemiology in emerging countries enables assessment of prognostic factors, cancer care quality, and the equity of resource distribution. We aimed to estimate the overall (OS) and cancer-specific survival (SS) of breast cancer patients in the northeastern Brazilian state of Sergipe to identify independent prognostic factors. We analyzed a cohort for the factors age at diagnosis, place of residence, time to treatment, staging, and molecular classification, using the Kaplan–Meier method, log-rank test, Pearson’s chi-squared test and Cox regression model. The outcome was the vital status at the end of the study. Our analysis showed an OS probability of 0.72 and an SS probability of 0.75. In multivariate analysis, time to treatment within 60 days, stage IV, and triple-negative classification remained independent prognostic factors for both OS [unadjusted hazard ratio (HRp) 1.50 (1.21; 1.86), HRp 16.56 (8.35; 32.85), and HRp 2.73 (1.73; 4.29), respectively] and SS [HRp 1.43 (1.13; 1.81), HRp 20.53 (9.45; 44.56), and HRp 3.14 (1.88; 5.26), respectively]. Better survival was demonstrated for the following patients: those receiving their first treatment after 60 days, with an OS of 52.5 months (51.2; 53.8) and SS of 53.5 months (52.3; 54.7); stage I patients, with an OS of 58.8 months (57.7; 60.0) and SS of 59.2 months (58.1; 60.3); patients without nodal metastasis, with an OS of 54.2 months (53.0; 55.4) and SS of 55.6 months (54.5; 56.7); and patients with luminal A classification, with an OS of 56.8 months (55.0; 58.5) and SS of 57.8 months (56.2; 59.4). This study identified independent prognostic factors and that OS and SS were lower for patients from Sergipe than for patients in high-income areas. Therefore, determining the profiles of breast cancer patients in this population will inform specific cancer care.

Non-melanoma skin cancers have the highest incidence of all malignancies worldwide. However, cancer registries rarely include data on non-melanoma skin cancers because they tend to be under-reported. To determine incidence rates and changes over time for non-melanoma skin cancers in a mid-sized Brazilian population. We calculated age-standardized rates, adjusted to the world population using the direct method, from 1996-2012 in the Aracaju Cancer Registry and then calculated incidence trends using the Joinpoint Regression Program. We analysed 11,476 cases (5,695 men and 5,781 women) of non-melanoma skin cancer collected during the study period. The histological subtypes in men were 84.5% basal cell carcinoma, 14.5% squamous cell carcinoma, and 1% other histological subtypes, whereas the corresponding percentages in women were 89.1%, 10%, and 0.9%, respectively. Average incidence age-standardized rates were 228.6 (95% CI: 221.6; 235.6) per 100,000 men and 145.4 (95% CI: 141.0; 149.9) per 100,000 women. The incidence mostly increased in the first years for the series and then stabilized. The under-reporting of non-melanoma skin cancers, due to removal of lesions without histopathological confirmation, decisions to keep skin lesions under observation instead of excising them, and deferring medical examination, is a potential pitfall of this study. Age-standardized incidence of non-melanoma skin cancer was high during the study period, but tended to stabilise in the latter years of the study.

Research has shown that dissatisfied couples in the relationship commonly exhibit facial expressions of contempt in interactions. At this point, based on the study of cognition and physiology, researchers were able to predict by longitudinal studies the probability of divorce in a marriage, with accuracy of up to 94%. Our objective was to investigate whether the occurrence of facial expressions of disgust and contempt in married women is associated with marital dissatisfaction. This is an experimental study that correlated, through filmed interviews, the frequency of facial expressions of disgust and disgust (Facial Action Coding System) to the Marital State’s Golombok Rust Inventory, in a sample composed of 20 women. Data analysis based on the Spearman Correlation Test showed a positive correlation between facial expressions of disgust and disdain and conjugal dissatisfaction (rs = 0.2198, p = 0.0280), corroborating the data in the literature.

Introdução: Infecções relacionadas à assistência à saúde (IRAS) constituem um grave problema de saúde mundial, aumentando os custos de internação e das taxas de mortalidade. Desta forma, torna-se crescente a necessidade de acompanhamento e avaliação, da densidade de incidência e perfil epidemiológico das IRAS ocorridas na UTI do Hospital Universitário de Sergipe (HU-UFS). Objetivo: Avaliar se existe diferença significativa da incidência / prevalência de IRAS em pacientes internados na UTI, associado a fatores predisponentes. Metodologia: O estudo foi realizado por meio de pesquisa bibliográfica e levantamento de dados das fichas de vigilância epidemiológica realizada pelo Serviço de Controle de Infecção Hospitalar dos pacientes admitidos na Unidade de Terapia Intensiva (UTI) no período de 2019 a 2020. Estão incluídos os pacientes que atendam aos critérios de permanência mínima de 24 horas na unidade, e excluídos os que não atenderam este critério. Resultados: Houve maior densidade de IRAS no terceiro trimestre de 2020, com 26,44. Quanto aos dispositivos invasivos, observou-se maior taxa no uso de CVC, no quarto trimestre de 2020, com 83,9, entretanto não houve aumento de IRAS neste sítio. Foi observado maior frequência de pneumonia associada à ventilação (PAV), entre as topografias, correspondendo a 47,22% dos casos. Conclusão: As taxas encontradas neste estudo estão em consonância com os valores divulgados pela Anvisa, de outras instituições de mesmo perfil.

Os objetivos deste estudo foram analisar as características morfológicas complexas dos frutos e diásporos de inharé, e fornecer subsídios para o reconhecimento da planta na fase inicial do desenvolvimento. As infrutescências apresentam, em média, 2,2 cm x 2,9 cm x 2,6 cm, com 4-10 frutos inseridos ao perianto carnoso. Os frutos, drupas monospérmicas, apresentam um pericarpo fino-gelatinoso, que contem um pirênio globoso, levemente achatado, marrom opaco e liso medindo 0,9 cm x 0,8 cm x 0,6 cm. A semente exalbuminosa possui tegumento membranoso; o embrião é axial total e as reservas encontram-se nos cotilédones crassos e isófilos. A germinação é tipo hipógea criptocotiledonar; com a retirada do endocarpo, a protrusão da raiz primária ocorre após 10 dias da semeadura e a plântula normal aos 30 dias está completamente formada. A plântula possui os primeiros eofilos com filotaxia alterno-espriralada, forma elíptica com base atenuada, ápice agudo a acuminado e margem denteada; o epicótilo é cilíndrico, com aproximadamente 1,0 cm de comprimento, e possui catafilos; o sistema radicular é bem desenvolvido, com muitas raízes secundárias. As plantas jovens, entre 50 cm a 115 cm de altura, apresentam similaridades morfológicas com o indivíduo adulto, principalmente no tocante ao caule e às folhas.

Descreve-se um caso de atendimento a animal, felino, adulto, fêmea, com diagnóstico de hérnia diafragmática crônica tendo o útero gravídico em fase final de gestação como parte do conteúdo herniário. O gradativo crescimento fetal no decorrer da gestação determinou importante comprometimento respiratório. A gravidade do quadro exigiu interrupção cirúrgica da gestação com posterior herniorrafia por flape peritoneal, porém não houve êxito e o animal veio a óbito ao final do procedimento cirúrgico. O óbito foi atribuído à cronicidade e gravidade da condição clínica em que se encontrava. Este relato ressalta a importância da correção imediata de hérnias diafragmáticas e do acompanhamento pré-natal durante a gestação.

Cervical cancer is a health issue that disproportionately affects developing countries, where the Papanicolaou test (Pap smear) remains an important screening tool. Brazilian government recommendations have focused screening on the female population aged from 25 to 64 years old. In this study, we examined the incidence and mortality rates of invasive cervical cancer lesions and the incidence rates of in situ precancerous cervical lesions, aiming to calculate their respective statistics over time in a mid-sized Brazilian city, Aracaju. The 1996-2015 database from the Aracaju Cancer Registry and Mortality Information System was used to calculate age standardized rates for all invasive cervical tumors (International code of diseases, ICD-10: C53) and preinvasive cervical lesions (ICD-10: D06) in the following patient age ranges; ≤ 24, 25-34, 35-44, 45-54, 55-64 and ≥ 65 years old. We identified 1,030 cancer cases, 1,871 in situ lesions and 334 deaths. Using the Joinpoint Regression Program, we calculated the annual percentage incidence changes and our analyses show that cervical cancer incidence decreased up to 2008, increased up to 2012 and decreased again thereafter, a significant trend in all age groups from 25 years. The incidence of precursor lesions increased from 1996 to 2005 and has since decreased, a result significant in all age groups until 64 years. Cervical cancer mortality has decreased by 3.8% annually and trend analysis indicates that Pap smears have been effective in decreasing cancer incidence and mortality. However, recent trends shown here show a decreasing incidence of in situ lesions and may indicate either a real decrease or incomplete catchment. Thus, we suggest health policies should be re-considered and include sufficient screening and HPV vaccination strategies to avoid cervical cancer resurgence in the population.

In the context of metacommunity theory, diatoms have been associated mainly with local environmental factors, but in some cases spatial factors have also been identified as important drivers. This study aimed to determine the relative importance of environmental and spatial drivers as predictors of surface sediment and water column diatom assemblages in tropical reservoirs. Sampling was carried out in 33 reservoirs in southeast Brazil, which range in trophic state from oligotrophic to hypereutrophic, and span five hydrological basins. We performed a partial RDA between the predictor matrices (environmental and spatial predictors) and the response matrix (either surface sediment or water column diatom assemblages) to identify the main environmental drivers, and used variation partitioning to assess the relative contribution of environmental and spatial predictors of diatom assemblages. In general, diatom assemblages were structured by a combination of environmental and spatial drivers. Comparisons of results between surface sediment and water column ordinations demonstrated that the assemblages were structured by similar environmental variables (productivity-related variables such as total phosphorus, water transparency and pH) and by a similar set of diatom species, mainly centric diatoms like Aulacoseira granulata var. granulata, A. tenella, Discostella stelligera and Spicaticribra kingstonii. Overall, surface sediment diatoms were more strongly associated with environmental factors than were water-column assemblages, probably because they integrate information in space and time, confirming that surface sediment assemblages are robust indicators of environmental conditions. There have been arguments about the role of breast cancer screening at the population level, and some points of controversy have arisen, such the establishment of organized screening policies and the age at which to begin screening. The real benefit of screening has been questioned because the results of this practice may increase the diagnosis of indolent lesions without decreasing mortality due to breast cancer. The authors have proposed a study of incidence and mortality trends for breast cancer in a developing setting in Brazil to monitor the effectiveness of the official recommendations that prioritize the age group from 50 to 69 years. The database of the Cancer Registry and the Mortality Information System was used to calculate age-standardized and age-specific rates, which were then used to calculate incidence and mortality trends using the Joinpoint Regression Program. The results showed stability in trends across all ages and age-specific groups in both incidence and mortality. In conclusion, we found that incidence and mortality rates are compatible with those in regions with similar human development indexes, and trends have demonstrated stabilization. Thus, we do not endorse changes in the official recommendations to conduct screening for ages other than 50 to 69 years, nor should policy makers implement organized screening strategies.

O ensaio objetiva refletir de que maneira as microalgas podem ser teoricamente concebidas e metodologicamente utilizadas como instrumento biotecnológico de sensoriamento responsável por aumentar capacidade de percepção/ação/cognição e comunicação acerca das dinâmicas antrópicas da natureza – considerando, em termos epistemológicos, que a razão científica se afasta do senso comum na medida em que gera experiências instrumentalizadas entre sujeito-objeto do conhecimento. Também ampliam e corrigem as experiências fenomenológicas limitadas às capacidades humanas circunscritas a regras neurofisiológicas e neuropsicológicas do corpo humano, ou às lógicas técnico-científicas de outras áreas do saber ligadas à política. Elas funcionam como biotecnologias capazes de fazer crescer e de corrigir a inteligência e a sensibilidade de sistemas teórico-metodológicos aplicados em planos de diagnóstico, monitoramento e ajustes ambientais. Enquanto biotecnologias, as microalgas funcionam como prolongamentos e potencializadores dos corpos e dos cérebros dos cientistas ou das comunidades acadêmicas reunidas no interior das Ciências do Ambiente. Por fim, considera alguns obstáculos epistemológicos que impedem a participação dos bioindicadores na esfera das políticas voltadas à gestão ambiental.

Visou, como primeira etapa, calcular os ótimos e as tolerâncias ecológicas (etapa de regressão) das espécies de diatomáceas com a finalidade de propor um índice de diatomáceas para avaliar o estado trófico de represas, bem como um modelo de função de transferência diatomácea-fósforo (etapa de calibração) para inferir níveis pretéritos de fósforo da água. Além disso, visou avaliar o efeito da eutrofização sobre a homogeneização taxonômica e funcional das comunidades de diatomáceas. As amostras do sedimento superficial (n = 113) e do plâncton (verão e inverno, n = 226) foram obtidas entre 2009 e 2014. O método da média ponderada (WA) foi utilizado para a etapa de regressão (ótimo e tolerância das espécies), e modelos de regressão clássica e inversa foram testados para a etapa de calibração para a proposição do índice trófico de diatomáceas e para o modelo de função de transferência diatomácea-fósforo. The study aimed to describe bionomic aspects of Tetrapedia diversipes Klug, 1810 in order to allow the conservation or breeding of these bees. The nesting biology was studied using trap nests made with cardboard-paper tubes and plastic straws during the period between December 2014 and September 2015, in the Bee Unit of the Federal University of Ceará, Brazil. A total of 135 nests were obtained with 593 brood cells, from which emerged 448 adults and individuals of two parasitic species. The proportion of females (n = 297) was higher than that of males (n = 151) resulting in a sex ratio of 1.97:1. The total mortality in the nests was 24.45% and the majority of deaths recorded occurred at the pupal stage (33.1%). During their reproductive life, females of this bee species were able to construct up to 16 brood cells. The trap-nests removal and transfer to the laboratory shortly after finished by the bees reduced the attack of natural enemies.
