The promotion of equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) is being increasingly pursued in health care, both in general and within radiation oncology. Because bibliometrics is a powerful tool to reveal the scientific literature on a specific topic during a certain timespan, a systematic bibliometric analysis of the documents published on EDI in radiation oncology was performed, aiming at exploring common patterns in research and emerging trends, tracking collaborations and networks, and anticipating future directions in clinical research. Standard descriptive statistics and bibliometric techniques were used in the analysis. A collaboration network and thematic map were generated from the data. Four domains were represented: (1) motor themes, including themes well developed and important for the structuring of the research field; (2) niche themes, representing the isolated topics that do not share important external links with other themes; (3) emerging themes, referring to still weakly developed topics; and (4) basic themes, including the essential topics. EDI in the profession of radiation oncology is essential to ensure that the workforce delivering radiation oncology care both draws from the full talent pool of human capital and delivers the highest quality science and clinical care to all patients. The burgeoning literature on EDI in radiation oncology suggests that a large and growing cohort of scholars within radiation oncology are dedicated to addressing these important challenges.

Elinor Ostrom was the first woman ever to win the Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences with research in the field of economic governance. In order to map the scientific impact of her work and visualize the collective action from her perspective, this scientometric review was carried out using two groups of analysis. First, we analyzed the works authored or co-authored by Elinor Ostrom. Later, to conceptualize the reach of Ostrom's works and her academic impact we analyzed the documents that cite her. The relevance of this study, as a systematic review of the scientific literature, lies in the fact that it can reveal important information through citation-induced patterns and guide researchers interested in collective action and the commons. The data was collected from the Web of Science and analyzed using a series of software to facilitate the observation of the data with the use of double map overlays, co-citation cluster, timeline views and others with the goal of being able to point out how the research in the area is being directed, the current topics, identify research gaps and interconnections with other fields of science. The results revealed central themes worked by the author and the current themes involved as a legacy of her work. The networks show through clusters the separation of topics that were carried out within the years and identify the most cited groups of authors, as well as the works that relate the most with themselves.

In 2014, a union of German research organisations established Projekt DEAL, a national-level project to negotiate licensing agreements with large scientific publishers. Negotiations between DEAL and Elsevier began in 2016, and broke down without a successful agreement in 2018; in this time, around 200 German research institutions cancelled their license agreements with Elsevier, leading Elsevier to restrict journal access at those institutions. We investigated the effect on researchers' publishing and citing behaviours from a bibliometric perspective, using a dataset of ∼400,000 articles published by researchers at DEAL institutions between 2012-2020. We further investigated these effects with respect to the timing of contract cancellations, research disciplines, collaboration patterns, and article open-access status. We find evidence for a decrease in Elsevier’s market share of articles from DEAL institutions, with the largest year-on-year market share decreases occuring from 2018 to 2020 following the implementation of access restrictions. We also observe year-on-year decreases in the proportion of citations, although the decrease is smaller. We conclude that negotiations with Elsevier and access restrictions have led to some reduced willingness to publish in Elsevier journals, but that researchers are not strongly affected in their ability to cite Elsevier articles, implying that researchers use other methods to access scientific literature. While mastering technology and industry convergence are essential for firms across a growing number of industries, convergence is often rapid and abrupt, challenging firms to develop appropriate strategic responses. Focusing on the historical convergence between information technology and communication technology, we examine the microlevel behaviors of scientists initiating and driving convergence. Analyzing a bibliometric dataset of 257 641 scientific articles, we demonstrate how industry convergence manifests in a microlevel scientific convergence, preceding industry convergence by several decades. Our article contributes to the literature on convergence by developing new bibliometric measures for scientific convergence, and by contrasting microlevel behaviors that underpin convergence. In order to reveal the hotspots and trends of biological water treatment from the perspectives of scientific and technological innovation, both of the bibliometric review and patents analysis were performed in this study. The Web of Science Core Collection database and Derwent Innovation Index database recorded 30023 SCI papers and 50326 patents, respectively were analyzed via information visualization technology. The results showed that China ranked the first in both papers and patents, while the United States and Japan had advantages in papers and patents, respectively. It was concluded through literature metrology analysis that microbial population characteristics, biodegradation mechanism, toxicity analysis, nitrogen and phosphorus removal and biological treatment of micro-polluted wastewater were the research hotspots of SCI papers. Activated sludge process and anaerobic-aerobic combined process were the two mainstream technologies on the basis of patent technology classification analysis. Technology evolution path of biological water treatment was also elucidated in three stages based on the citation network analysis. Furthermore, the future directions including research on the law of interaction and regulation of biological phases and pollutants and the technology innovations towards the targeted biotransformation or selective biodegradation of pollutants and resource reuse of wastewater were prospected.

Background Traditional measures of evaluating scholarly output do not capture the impact social media can provide in disseminating and promoting research. We sought to better understand the level of online attention that high-quality hand research received. Methods Scientific manuscripts published from 2017 in Journal of Hand Surgery (American Volume) ( JHS-A), Journal of Hand Surgery ( European Volume) ( JHS-E), and HAND were recorded. Manuscript characteristics were determined, including the number of citations. Altmetric Attention Score (AAS), a measure of a manuscript’s online attention and impact, was determined, as well as Twitter mentions, Facebook mentions, and news outlet mentions. Spearman rho (ρ) correlation coefficient was used to evaluate the relationship between the number of citations and AAS. Multivariable linear regression analysis was performed to determine which manuscript factors were associated with AAS. Results A total of 323 manuscripts were identified. There was a weak positive correlation between the number of citations and AAS; however, this relationship did not exist for each individual journal. Publication in HAND and JHS-E were associated with lower average manuscript AAS when using JHS-A as the reference group. Two additional factors were also associated with increased manuscript AAS: (1) being a clinical study focused on a specific upper extremity anatomical location; and (2) increasing number of institutions on a study. Conclusions Publication in HAND and JHS-E were associated with lower manuscript AAS when using JHS-A as the reference group, suggesting that HAND and JHS-E have room for improvement in using social media to share their high-quality hand surgery scientific articles.

Purpose This study aims to present a general approach for understanding and analyzing the thematic evolution of the concept of co-creation in smart environments within the tourism context. Design/methodology/approach This study performs a co-word analysis with a longitudinal framework that produces strategic diagrams to categorize the detected themes and concepts related to co-creation. Findings By combining the performance analysis of science mapping, the following clusters are distinguished: information technology, social media and behavior; tourism organizations, management and innovation; co-creation, technology and sharing economy; co-production and hospitality; and Smart tourism, destinations, sustainability and residents. Originality/value This study provides a valuable tool for tourism scholars and managers to effectively analyze the importance of different themes linked to co-creation in the concept of the smart environment. This research outlines the evolving issues in and around the touchpoints and associated emerging research topics for future research.

In order to succeed in today's dynamic and competitive marketplace, it is of paramount importance for firms to manage their brand and product portfolios such that they not only create or acquire new brands/products, manage the existing ones, but also delete the ones that are underperforming. Brand/product deletion is an important but daunting strategic choice for firms. It deserves focused academic research attention, especially theory development, due to the fragmented nature of the literature in this field. This article conducts a comprehensive bibliometric review on relevant publications in the brand/product deletion literature with an aim to provide insights into the field's current intellectual structure and thematic classification of the published studies, and offers avenues for future development of this critical area of strategic brand and product management.

Following a bibliometric approach, this study examines research on brand and branding in family businesses to identify influential sources and main areas of knowledge, proposes an integrative framework that provides a holistic perspective of this field with an interdisciplinary cross-fertilization view, and explores new avenues for future research and practice. Based on 449 bibliographic references retrieved from the Web of Science database through a systematic process, we employed bibliographic coupling analysis to visualize the relationships among key works in the field, and subsequently performed a literature review to deepen the analysis. The bibliographic coupling analysis structured the existing research into six thematic clusters. Four of them follow an internal perspective and focus on family business identity and its influence on the construction of corporate brand identity, whereas the other two follow an external perspective that explores how family business brands are communicated and perceived by stakeholders and the influence of corporate brands and branding on family business image and reputation. Drawing from an in-depth review of the literature, this study offers a novel integrative framework, together with a set of proposals with managerial and theoretical implications. The proposed framework aims to clarify the relationship between internal identity and management to build and communicate a family business brand. The study also shows the symbiosis that exists among family values, corporate reputation, brand equity, and awareness in family businesses. The existing interconnection between the family and business generates unique associations that are difficult to imitate. This study is the first documented attempt at a bibliometric analysis of brands and branding in family businesses, which serves to clarify the linkages between different research streams and connecting marketing, organization, and family business literature to guide future research. Moreover, our integrative framework provides researchers and practitioners with a better understanding of its scope, highlighting the importance of corporate brand strategies beyond the boundaries of marketing departments. The introduction of entrepreneurial culture into academia fosters competitive atmospheres through its emphasis on personal merit, which entails quantitative performance measurement. As knowledge production is one of scholars’ core missions, this study aims to articulate impacts on ways of knowledge production influenced by environmental factors, comprising measuring instruments, institutional management, funding bodies and state policy. By interviewing 41 scholars in Taiwan and exploring their accounts of academic practices, this paper empirically analyses how knowledge production has been shaped by policy environments. These modifying behaviour patterns include a selection of research topics, a design for research agenda, strategies for grant applications and publications, engendering delicate changes in the epistemic properties of research. From this, it characterizes power relations between researchers, scientific communities and the state in the neoliberal age.

Open innovation (OI) has received significant attention from practices and theories over the past decades. This paper investigates the role of OI and personalized patterns in firms at home and abroad, and then measures the risks involved. Firstly, this paper reviews the definition of OI, the business model innovation characteristics, and the facing problems in practice. Based on the existing literature, we illustrate the openness and challenges of business OI. By introducing bibliometrics, this paper presents a whole research framework. Based on keywords cooccurrence analysis and clustering analysis, we locate the current research hotspots and potential research opportunities from a comprehensive perspective. According to the analysis results, five clusters are obtained, including resource management and value creation; collective innovation and form sustainability; innovation management, intellectual property management, and crossborder cooperation; knowledge management and knowledge sharing; innovation ecosystem, big data, and policy-level innovation. Taking Huawei as an example, its typical business OI model is studied from the perspectives of organizational, project-related, marketing and consumer-based, and summaries the facing challenges and risks. We illustrate its financial performance, innovation performance, and development prospects. We found that, during the implementation of OI practical activities and theoretical exploration, the risks and opportunities facing small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are multiple dimensional.

Within the framework of the research project "Information coverage of the Coronavirus in the Colombian digital press", this work was developed to know the state of the art on health emergencies, such as COVID-19, in the context of the media (traditional and digital). This work was developed to know state of the art on health emergencies, such as COVID-19, in the context of the media (both traditional and digital). The search for information was carried out in the Scopus database, using a search strategy through the title or title/abstract. Keywords were obtained from the literature already published on "Health emergencies in media context", using search strings with Boolean AND/OR operators (health AND emergencies AND media). Information retrieval was performed on August 22, 2022. A total of 5,967 studies met the referral criteria for "Healt emergencies in media context". Data were also exported in RIS format for analysis in VOSviewer 1.6.8 software. Although media coverage of health emergencies has been taken as a starting point, this research has gone further, not only because relationships have been found between health emergencies and other platforms, such as social networks, but also because scientific evidence has been detected on the potential that the media can have to curb and even prevent diseases. It was found that scientific production on health emergencies in the context of the media has evolved in the last ten years (2002-2022), with a peak in 2020. It is concluded that the scientific approach to health emergencies in the context of the media demands multidisciplinary work. When the authors' keyword co-occurrence analysis was carried out, four clusters were identified in which the term "human" stood out with close relationships with the words "emergency room", "masculine", "feminine", "elderly", cohort analysis, and hospitalization.

In spite of previous research demonstrating the risks involved, and counsel against the practice as early as 1997, some research evaluations continue to use journal impact alone as a surrogate of the number of citations of hosted articles to assess the latter’s impact. Such usage is also taken up by research administrators and policy-makers, with very serious implications. The aim of this work is to investigate the correlation between the citedness of a publication and the impact of the host journal. We extend the analyses of previous literature to all STEM fields. Then we also aim to assess whether this correlation varies across fields and is stronger for highly cited authors than for lowly cited ones. Our dataset consists of a total of almost one million authorships of 2010–2019 publications authored by about 28,000 professors in 230 research fields. Results show a low correlation between the two indicators, more so for lowly cited authors as compared to highly cited ones, although differences occur across fields.

S razvojem znanosti i tehnologije o geoprostornim informacijama i primjenama u brojnim područjima, obrazovanje o kartografiji i geoprostornim informacijama postaje sve važnije u osposobljavanju diplomanata opremljenih novim sposobnostima. Obrazovanje za kartografiju i geoprostorne informacije ključno je za kartografiju i geoprostornu informacijsku znanost kao disciplinu i profesiju. Sadržaji su se uvijek postupno mijenjali, kao i odgovarajući učinkoviti pristupi za pružanje održivog i elastičnog obrazovanja. U novoj normalnoj eri, nakon bolesti COVID-19, sažetci i razmišljanja o napretku dostupnih praksi i teorija mogu podržati bolji dizajn učinkovitog i kvalitetnog obrazovanja. U ovom se radu za praćenje puta koji su prošli edukatori kartografije i geoprostornih informacija koriste konferencijski radovi i sažetci o obrazovnim temama objavljeni na posljednjih 10 međunarodnih kartografskih konferencija. Bibliometrijska se analiza provodi prema obrazovnim temama, autorima i regijama. Nacrtana je karta znanja pojmova domene koja pokazuje da se broj publikacija o obrazovanju na međunarodnim kartografskim konferencijama povećava. Geografska je distribucija autora vrlo koncentrirana, s autorima iz europskih zemalja koji doprinose oko 50% publikacija, a onima iz prvih deset zemalja koji doprinose 60%. O radovima u mnogim drugim regijama manje se izvještava. Teme istraživanja uglavnom su usmjerene na preddiplomsko i diplomsko obrazovanje o geografskim informacijskim sustavima, srednjoškolsko obrazovanje, obrazovne atlase, teoriju učenja, učenje dizajna okoliša, online obrazovanje itd. Pedagogija i iskustvo učenja na daljinu te online obrazovanje u posljednjih 20 godina dobro su primijenjeni. Međutim, rijetko se navodi da najbolje prakse online obrazovanja i obrazovanja na daljinu podržavaju učinkovito novo normalno obrazovanje u kontekstu pandemije COVID-19., With the development of geospatial information science and technology and applications in numerous areas, cartography and geospatial information education is becoming increasingly more important in training graduates equipped with new capacities. Cartography and geospatial information education are crucial to cartography and geospatial information science, as a discipline and a profession. The contents have always gradually been changing, as well as corresponding effective approaches to deliver sustainable and resilient education. In the new normal era of post COVID-19, summaries and reflections on the progress of available practices and theories can support better design of effective and quality education. In this paper, the conference papers and abstracts on educational topics published in the last 10 International Cartography Conferences are used to trace the path that educators in cartography and geospatial information have gone through. Bibliometric analysis is conducted on educational topics, authors, and regions. A domain term knowledge map is drawn showing that the number of publications on education in the International Cartography Conferences has been increasing. The geographic distribution of authors is very concentrated, with authors from European countries contributing about 50% of the publications and those from the top ten countries contributing 60%. Works in many other regions are less reported. The research topics are mainly focused on undergraduate and graduate education in geographic information systems, secondary education, education atlas, learning theories, learning environmental design, online education, etc. Pedagogies and experience of distance learning and online education in the last 20 years have been well applied. However best practices of online and distance education are rarely reported to support effective new normal education in the context of COVID-19 pandemics.

The contribution is the state of the art of governance. The methodology involved a bibliometric analysis using search criteria and metric tools from the Scopus and Web of Science databases, as well as text mining with the VOSviewer program. For qualitative analysis, a hermeneutic unit was used in the Atlas.ti program that contained the most cited contributions in Scopus. The main results are: there is a broad and extensive approach to governance since its emergence; the most relevant research trends are associated with the influence of governance in managing actions against COVID-19, organizational government and global aspects; there is a thematic dispersion in the approach to governance and a predominant tendency to use its arguments as the basis for analyzing specific cases. Numerous types of governance and fields of application were observed. Research niches that need further analysis were identified, such as: longitudinal studies of the sustainability of agreements through governance, psychosocial elements that influence governance networks, and the capture of the State by network members for their own benefit. La contribución es un estado del arte sobre la gobernanza. La metodología empleada se basó, en un análisis bibliométrico a partir de criterios búsqueda y herramientas métricas de las bases de datos de Scopus y Web of Science así como de la minería de texto utilizando el programa VOSviewer. Para el análisis cualitativo se utilizó una unidad hermenéutica en el programa Atlas.ti conformada por las contribuciones más citadas en Scopus. Los principales resultados son que existe un abordaje amplio y extenso de la gobernanza desde su surgimiento; las tendencias investigativas más relevantes están asociadas con la influencia de la gobernanza en la gestión de acciones contra la COVID-19, el gobierno organizacional y los aspectos globales, y existe una dispersión temática en el abordaje de la gobernanza y una tendencia predominante a utilizar sus argumentos como fundamento para analizar casos específicos. Se observó numerosos tipos de gobernanzas y campos de aplicación. Se identificaron nichos investigativos que necesitan mayor análisis como: estudios longitudinales de la sostenibilidad de los pactos a través de la gobernanza, los elementos psicosociales que inciden en las redes de gobernanza y la captura del Estado por partes de integrantes de las redes en beneficio propio. Os principais resultados são: existe uma abordagem ampla e extensa da governança desde seu surgimento; as tendências investigativas mais relevantes estão associadas à influência da governança na gestão de ações contra a COVID-19, o governo organizacional e os aspectos globais; existe uma dispersão temática na abordagem da governança e uma tendência predominante a utilizar seus argumentos como fundamento para analisar casos específicos. Se observou numerosos tipos de governanças e campos de aplicação. Se identificaram nichos investigativos que precisam de maior análise como: estudos longitudinais da sustentabilidade dos pactos através da governança, os elementos psicossociais que incidem nas redes de governança e a captura do Estado por partes de integrante das redes em benefício próprio.

There is a national debate regarding the existence of a relationship between contact sport participation and future risk of neurodegenerative disease. We employed bibliometrics and altmetrics to quantify the academic, popular, and social media impact of published scientific articles that report an association between contact sports or military service with chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE+), and compare with those scientific articles that report null or no association of contact sports or military service with CTE (CTE-). In this cross-sectional study, we extracted number of citations, total link strength, altmetric score, number of news stories, media outlets, and Twitter interaction from published CTE articles. The top 10 most cited articles were statistically compared on these outcomes using Mann-Whitney U tests. CTE+ publications had an average of 101 citations per article, Altmetric score of 272, 36 news stories in 26 media outlets, and upper-bound of Twitter users of 402,159. CTE- publications had an average of 29 citations per article, Altmetric score of 39, two news stories and media outlets, and upper-bound of Twitter users of 91,070. Top 10 CTE+ publications had, on average, 94% more citations (

Amaç: Bilişsel işlevler, bilgi ve becerileri deneyimler yoluyla kullanmayı sağlar. Bu çalışmanın amacı, bilişsel işlevler üzerine yapılan çalışmaların incelenmesi ve gelişimsel içeriklerinin belirlenmesi, matematiksel yöntemlerin bilgi kaynaklarına uygulanması, araştırma alanlarına göre dağılımların belirlenmesi ve konunun ilişkisel özellikleri hakkında bilgi edinilmesidir. Yöntem: Belirli olgu ve olayların özelliklerini açıklamaya yönelik nicel araştırma yöntemlerinden ilişkisel analiz modeli bibliyometrik analiz tercih edilmiştir. Web of Science veri tabanında “cognitive function” ve “development” anahtar kelimeleri ile 01.01.2000-31.12.2020 tarihleri arasındaki açık erişim makaleler incelenmiştir. Bulgular: Anahtar kelimelerle ilgili sonuçlarda, yürütücü işlevler bilişsel işlevler ile en sık kullanılan anahtar kelime olarak ön plana çıkmaktadır. Özetlerin analizi, bilişsel kontrol ve sosyal biliş kavramlarının prefrontal korteks ile birlikte yer aldığını da göstermektedir. Gelişimsel içerikli makalelerin daha çok sosyal-duygusal gelişim alanı ile ilgili olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Sonuçlar ve Öneriler: Bilişsel işlevler hakkında yapılan araştırmalarda gelişimi ele alan çalışmaların ortaya koyduğu ilişkilere dair daha fazla araştırma yapılabilir ve bu ilişkiler detaylandırılabilir. The aim of this study is to examine the studies on cognitive functions and to determine their developmental content, to apply mathematical methods to information sources, to determine the distributions according to research areas and to obtain information about the relational characteristics of the subject. Method: Bibliometric analysis, one of the quantitative research methods aimed at explaining the characteristics of certain phenomena and events, was preferred. Open access articles between 01.01.2000-31.12.2020 were examined with the keywords "cognitive function" and "development" in the Web of Science database. Results:In the results related to keywords, executive functions stand out as the most frequently used keywords with cognitive functions. Analysis of the abstracts also shows that the concepts of cognitive control and social cognition co-occur with the prefrontal cortex. It has been determined that articles with developmental content are mostly related to the field of social-emotional development. Conclusions and Suggestions: In this context, more research can be conducted on the relationships revealed by studies on development in research on cognitive functions and these relationships can be detailed. It is seen that interdisciplinary studies have increased and different perspectives can be discussed together with the dissemination of this situation.

This paper analyzes the scientific production on the Triple Helix model, based on the interaction between university-industry-government, which highlights the relevance of the role of universities in the transition from an industrial society to another based on knowledge. Bibliometric indicators and factor analysis techniques were used. A total of 593 publications indexed in the central collection of Web of Science (WoS) were retrieved, from 1993 to 2022. The most productive authors, countries, institutions and journals, the manuscripts with the greatest impact and the thematic and conceptual structure in the scientific field analyzed., En este trabajo se analiza la producción científica sobre el modelo de la Triple Hélice, basado en la interacción entre universidad-industria-gobierno, el cual resalta la relevancia del rol de las universidades en la transición de una sociedad industrial hacia otra basada en el conocimiento. Se utilizaron indicadores bibliométricos y técnicas de análisis factorial. Se recuperaron un total de 593 publicaciones indexadas en la colección central de Web of Science (WoS), desde 1993 hasta 2022. Se identificaron los autores, países, instituciones y revistas más productivas, los manuscritos con mayor impacto y la estructura temática y conceptual en el campo científico analizado.

We report data on the experimental articles published in the last two decades in seven prominent, general-interest economics journals, considering laboratory and other types of experiments separately. In addition, we also look at time trends in the characteristics of the published experimental articles. We find an overall increasing trend in the publication of experimental research. This is mainly driven by non-lab experiments, which have overtaken lab experiments in all considered outlets. The reversal of fortunes is most striking in the AER, where the share of lab experiments more than halved over the past twenty years and converged to the share of lab experiments in other Top 5 journals. We also observe some heterogeneities in publication, citations, rankings, and locations of authors’ affiliations across journals and types of experiments.

The limitations of traditional cancer treatments are driving the creation and development of new nanomedicines. At present, with the rapid increase of research on nanomedicine in the field of cancer, there is a lack of intuitive analysis of the development trend, main authors and research hotspots of nanomedicine in the field of cancer, as well as detailed elaboration of possible research hotspots. In this review, data collected from the Web of Science Core Collection database between January 1st, 2000, and December 31st, 2021, were subjected to a bibliometric analysis. The co-authorship, co-citation, and co-occurrence of countries, institutions, authors, literature, and keywords in this subject were examined using VOSviewer, Citespace, and a well-known online bibliometrics platform. We collected 19,654 published papers, China produced the most publications (36.654%, 7204), followed by the United States (29.594%, 5777), and India (7.780%, 1529). An interesting fact is that, despite China having more publications than the United States, the United States still dominates this field, having the highest H-index and the most citations. Acs Nano, Nano Letters, and Biomaterials are the top three academic publications that publish articles on nanomedicine for cancer out of a total of 7580 academic journals. The most significant increases were shown for the keywords "cancer nanomedicine", "tumor microenvironment", "nanoparticles", "prodrug", "targeted nanomedicine", "combination", and "cancer immunotherapy" indicating the promising area of research. Meanwhile, the development prospects and challenges of nanomedicine in cancer are also discussed and provided some solutions to the major obstacles.

To identify the most disruptive publications, which are those that are cited more frequently than their own references, in academic radiology journals and their characteristics, such as the number of authors and relative time to publication.A comprehensive literature search was undertaken to identify the 100 most disruptive publications in the field of radiology. Subsequently, statistical analysis was applied to establish the distribution of disruptive scores of the isolated publications using a non-parametric probability density function. The relation between disruptive scores and citation counts was then determined, with the aid of a correlation coefficient. Finally, data regarding any significant connection between disruption scores and time of publication, number of authors, and study design were examined.Analysing the top 100 papers in increments of 10-year periods showed no significant difference in the distribution of disruption scores over time. No correlation between an article's citation count and disruption score was established. Additionally, no significant relation between the number of authors/study design and disruption scores was identified.The disruption score highlights significant impact elements not entirely accounted for by citation count. Its potential benefit in assessing scientific impact should be contemplated.

Since most students begin their studies online, the LMS platform is frequently used. Universities and colleges play a crucial role in adopting many of its LMS platforms. A web-based application software package called Bibliometrics is used to design, test, and evaluate specific learning processes. LMS will be the dominant artificial intelligence-based solution for managing eLearning starting in early 2021. The principal objective of this project is to develop an artificial intelligence-powered LMS portal that enables students to continue studying and receive the most recent lessons from their teachers. Using the Communicate cloud software and Dialog Flow, a chatbot plugin system connected to the Google platform, and based on current needs, research bibliometrics was developed as an LMS project system. Students can interact with the chatbot anytime to satisfy their learning needs as long as they have an internet connection and a student ID card to access the dashboard. The LMS Platform, which was developed utilizing Bibliometrics and Artificial Intelligence approaches to help students access resources and complete teacher tasks, is a novelty in this work, according to earlier publications that have been evaluated.

This paper has reviewed the global research on the pandemic critical care research during the COVID-19 from 2020 to 2022. To this end, a bibliometric and cluster analysis by full counting has been carried out using VOSviewer software and bibliographic data extracted from the Scopus database. The research found and studied 2778 documents. The types of research documents were limited to an article (81.46%), a letter (9.43%), an editorial (3.92%), a note (3.92%), a conference paper (0.90), and a short survey (0.04%). The results show an incessant increase in the number of research documents published and citations received during the COVID-19 pandemic. The U.S., U.K., Italy, and France have been shown to be the most productive countries, and there is a predominance of European institutions supporting and fostering research on pandemic critical care. Cecconi, M. (Italy) and Shankar-Hari, M. (U.K.) produced the highest number of research documents. Mapping of citation, co-citation, co-authorship, and keyword cooccurrence highlighted the hotspot, knowledge structure, and important themes. Citation dynamics for the top-cited research documents revealed static discourse. By reviewing the evolutionary trends of pandemic critical care research investigated factors, such as the influential works, main research topics, and the research frontiers, this paper reveals the scientific literature production’s main research objectives and directions that could be addressed and explored in future studies. Objective: to identify the Brazilian scientific production about Nursing consultation teaching in nurses' training. Method: a descriptive study of a bibliometric nature conducted in the portal of Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde and in PubMed from April to May 2021, with the following inclusion criteria: full articles, in Portuguese or English, published from 2009 to 2020. Results: a total of 13 studies were identified, of which four were published in a B2 journal from the Northeast region, although with predominance of papers from the South region (38.46%), with the experience report type standing out. The most frequently observed themes were related to the teaching methodologies, especially the active ones with use of technological tools. “Nursing consultation” was not found to be one of the most frequent keywords. Conclusion: by verifying the incipience of the production on the theme, this study provides subsidies for expanding this knowledge area, reverberating in improvements in Nursing consultation teaching and in nurses' training.

Ferroptosis is a newly characterized form of regulated cell death. This bibliometric analysis identified the scientific output, leading institutions and research teams, current research hotspots and trends in research on ferroptosis since the origin of the concept. We searched the Science Citation Index Expanded of Web of Science Core Collection for papers on ferroptosis up to 3 June 2022. The acquired data were analysed and visualized by Bibliometrix package and VOSviewer. The study ultimately included 3511 relevant papers, and annual production in this field has grown rapidly in recent years. Institutions and scholars from China contributed the most work, but the impact of their research was much less than that of the United States. Prof. Brent R. Stockwell's team from Columbia University in the United States has a very strong academic influence in the field. Front Cell Dev Biol published the most papers in the field of ferroptosis. As the keywords of the papers in this field changed from the most numerous 'oxidative stress', 'cell-death', 'iron', 'expression', and 'lipid-peroxidation', to 'prognosis', 'immunotherapy', 'progression', 'tumour microenvironment', and 'colorectal cancer', the hotspot of ferroptosis research is gradually shifting from basic research to clinical translational research. The mechanism of tumour formation and treatment will become the frontier in the field of ferroptosis research in the future.

Significant amounts of mining tailings are generated and disposed of every year in dams, leading to potentially serious environmental and safety problems. To identify alternatives for the disposal of these wastes, research works involving their potential application as precursors in the development of alkaline-activated materials have been published in recent years. In this context, the objective of this paper is to present an overview of the main contributions already made on the subject, identified through a bibliometric review and content analysis in the Scopus and Web of Science databases. There was an exponential growth of interest in the subject in the period 2019-2021, when more than 50% of the papers were published. The most used tailings and sub-areas of research were also identified.

The need for gender parity within academic surgery has resulted in an analysis of the trends in female authorship in the American general surgery literature.Original articles from five American surgical journals from 1997, 2007, and 2017 were reviewed. Trends in the proportion of female authors were evaluated.There was an incremental increase in female first authors over the three time periods (15% in 1997, 32.2% in 2007, and 52.7% in 2017; P 0.001). The proportion of articles by female senior authors also increased over the study periods (18.7% in 1997, 28.8% in 2007, and 52.6% in 2017; P 0.001). However, there were fewer female authors with basic science research publications than males (17.4% vs. 82.6%, P 0.001).The academic productivity of female surgeons have increased over time likely due to an increase in the number of female academic surgeons in recent years. These findings are encouraging and demonstrate progress in female representation in surgery.

The treatment of chronic osteomyelitis (COM) is extremely challenging for physicians and patients. It is of great significance to explore the research status, development trend and future research hotspots in the field of COM to promote the development of this field. This study is aimed to explore the global research status of COM and predict its future research hotspots based on bibliometric and visualized analysis.Web of Science core collection database was used to search the related literature of COM from 1994 to 2020. All data were imported into Microsoft Excel 2019 for collation. Additionally, the literature quality of countries, authors, journals, and institutions is evaluated. The VOS viewer software was used for conducting co-analysis, co-citation analysis, and keyword co-occurrence analysis of literature to analyze the global status and predict the future hotspots of the COM field.A total of 726 articles were retrieved in this study. The number of global publications shows a trend of wave growth, but the increase is not significant. It is expected that the number of COM articles will remain at more than 50 per year in the next decade. The COM literature published in the United States (Publications = 160, H index = 37, average citations per item = 28.63) is of the highest quality. Girschick HJ (Publications = 16, H index = 14, average citations per item = 52.25) is the most contributed scholar in the field of COM. UNIV IOWA (Publications = 15, H index = 11, average citations per item = 57.27) and UNIV WURZBURG (Publications = 18, H index = 15, average citations per item = 47.5) are influential institutions in the field of COM. The results of co-occurrence analysis show that the field of COM can be roughly divided into the following five modules: COM surgical research, COM basic research, COM diagnosis-related research, chronic recurrent multifocal osteomyelitis (CRMO)-related research, risk factors of COM. Risk factors of COM are the module with the highest concentration of hot words.COM-related research will continue to develop further in the next decade. The diagnosis research and risk factors of COM are the most popular research modules in recent years. Some controversial or troubled issues including the efficacy of perforator flap and fascia flap covering soft tissue, searching exclusive detection methods for the diagnosis of COM and bisphosphonates and biological agents in the treatment of CRMO may lead to the development of the COM field.

[EN] Review articles or literature reviews are a critical part of scientific research. While numerous guides on literature reviews exist, these are often limited to the philosophy of review procedures, protocols, and nomenclatures, triggering non-parsimonious reporting and confusion due to overlapping similarities. To address the aforementioned limitations, we adopt a pragmatic approach to demystify and shape the academic practice of conducting literature reviews. We concentrate on the types, focuses, considerations, methods, and contributions of literature reviews as independent, standalone studies. This study uses a quantitative method with a descriptive approach in bibliometric analysis from 2011 to 2021. From the research results obtained (1) the development of research publications in the field of the use of technology for fake news detection shows an increase, (2) the interrelationships between countries of authors, organizations affiliated with the authors, and among authors, (3) distribution map of citation analysis based on units of countries, sources, and authors, (4) distribution map of co-citation analysis based on unit cited sources and cited authors, (5) connection of keyword in the use of technology for fake news detection publications is related to literacy skills such as media literacy and information literacy, and (6) several research trends that researchers have widely used in the last 2 years including COVID-19, media literacy, and cyber deception. The research results can be used to determine the development of research o in the use of technology for fake news detection and as a reference for developing further research in the use of technology for fake news detection.

The effective treatment of waste to be used as a resource in future has a major role in achieving environmental sustainability and moving towards circular economy. The current research is aimed to provide in-depth detail regarding prominent trends and research themes, evolution, future research orientation, main characteristics, and mapping of research publications on waste management, technological innovation in circular economy domain from the year 2000 to 2021. Different analyses including text mining and bibliometric and content analyses were applied to answer the research question and provide the details on aforementioned variables. From the bibliometric analyses, a total of 1118 articles were drawn out from the Scopus database to conceptualize the core body of research. As a result, the following themes were identified: electronic waste, circular economy transition, plastic waste, bio-based waste management, lifecycle assessment, and ecological impacts, and construction and demolition waste management. The highlighted features, future research orientation, and prominent research perspective can provide guideline for future research to enrich the literature through conducting studies on provided research directions and help lead waste management and technological innovation policymakers, professionals, and practitioners in moving towards circular transition.

There is a lack of effective platforms that can rapidly screen drugs, for patients to achieve precision treatment. Since an organoid simulates the tissue or organ structure and function in vitro, it can be applied to predict the response to therapy, personalized medicine, and drug screening in clinical practice. However, the rapid development of this field meets several challenges. This study aimed to evaluate the current state of the organoid and prioritize future research areas using bibliometric analysis.We selected articles and reviewers from the Web of Science database, using the search strategy syntax including "organoid" or "organoids", for the years 2011 to 2020. We conducted a general analysis and a thematic evolution analysis using the bibliometrix R package. Networks connecting productive countries/regions/institutions/authors were generated using VOSviewer. We performed a co-occurrence analysis using VOSviewer, burstness analysis using Citespace, and co-word biclustering analysis and landform map using BICOMB and gCLUTO to identify possible current and future directions and hotspots.We selected 3,168 publications for our analysis. We found that the number of publications in this field has increased sharply. The greatest contributions to organoid research have been made by the United States (among countries) and the University of Michigan (among institutions), and Hans Clevers is the most influential author. The journals with the highest number of selected articles and citations are Cancer Research and Nature. We observed the possibility of keyword classification into five clusters. Their trend changed from "methods to build organoids" (e.g., "lgr5+ stem cell" and "3D culture") to "practical applications of organoids" (e.g., "cystic fibrosis" and "Zika virus").Our study used bibliometric analysis to provide an in-depth understanding of the trends and hotspots of organoid research. The primarily important subject matters are drug screening, disease modeling, personalized medicine, regenerative medicine, and developmental biology. However, this field still faces limitations in the form of lack of reproducibility, low levels of maturity and function, and the absence of appropriate readouts. Therefore, these five significant topics, and possible solutions to limitations (involving bioengineering strategies), might be noteworthy in the future.

BACKGROUND: Nearly 40 y have passed since the 1983 National Institutes of Health Consensus-Development-Conference, which has turned liver transplantation (LT) from a clinical experiment into a routine therapeutic modality. Since' clinical LT has changed substantially. We aimed to comprehensively analyze the publication trends in the most-cited top-notch literature in LT science over a 4-decade period.METHODS: A total of 106 523 items were identified between January 1981 and May 2021 from the Web of Science Core Collection. The top 100 articles published were selected using 2 distinct citation-based strategies to minimize bias. Various bibliometric tools were used for data synthesis and visualization.RESULTS: The citation count for the final dataset of the top 100 articles ranged from 251 to 4721. Most articles were published by US authors (n = 61). The most prolific institution was the University of Pittsburgh (n = 15). The highest number of articles was published in Annals of Surgery, Hepatology, and Transplantation; however, Hepatology publications resulted in the highest cumulative citation of 9668. Only 10% of the articles were classified as evidence level 1. Over 90% of first/last authors were male. Our data depict the evolution of research focus over 40 y. In part, a disproportional flow of citations was observed toward already well-cited articles. This might also project a slowed canonical progress, which was described in other fields of science.CONCLUSIONS: This study highlights key trends based on a large dataset of the most-cited articles over a 4-decade period. The present analysis not only provides an important cross-sectional and forward-looking guidance to clinicians, funding bodies, and researchers but also draws attention to important socio-academic or demographic aspects in LT.

Medical journals have a role in promoting representation of neurosurgeons who speak primary languages other than English. We sought to characterize the language of publication and geographic origin of neurosurgical journals, delineate associations between impact factor (IF) and language and geographic variables, and describe steps to overcome language barriers to publishing.Web of Science, Scopus, and Ulrich's Serial Analysis system were searched for neurosurgery journals. The journals were screened for relevance. Language of publication, country and World Health Organization region, World Bank income status and gross domestic product, and citation metrics were extracted.Of 867 journals, 74 neurosurgical journals were included. Common publication languages were English (52, 70.3%), Mandarin (5, 6.8%), and Spanish (4, 5.4%). Countries of publication for the greatest number of journals were the United States (23, 31.1%), United Kingdom (8, 10.8%), and China (6, 8.1%). Most journals originated from the Americas region (29, 39.2%), the European region (28, 37.8%), and from high-income countries (n = 54, 73.0%). Median IF was 1.55 (interquartile range [IQR] 0.89-2.40). Journals written in English (1.77 [IQR 1.00-2.87], P = 0.032) and from high-income countries (1.81 [IQR 1.0-2.70], P = 0.046) had highest median IF. When excluding outliers, there was a small but positive correlation between per capita gross domestic product and IF (β = 0.021, P = 0.03, RLanguage concordance represents a substantial barrier to research equity in neurosurgery, limiting dissemination of ideas of merit that currently have inadequate outlets for readership. Initiatives aimed at increasing the accessibility of neurosurgical publishing to underrepresented authors are essential.

Background: The literature on scientific publication errors in medical research is limited, and no studies on emergency medicine publications have been conducted yet. This study aimed to investigate the characteristics of the publication errors in emergency medicine literature.Methods: This bibliometric study reviewed intervened publication errors in the manuscripts of seven high-impact emergency medicine journals from 2000 to 2020, covering twenty years, and evaluated the corrections in the forms of an erratum, corrigendum, addendum, and retracted papers. The detected publication error rate and the trend, error severity, and error types were calculated.Results: We detected 257 intervened scientific papers consisting of 251 corrections due to one or more publication errors and six retractions. Authors were the primary source of the errors (93.2%). Most of the errors were in the author attribution section (40.5%). The published errors of 7.2% had an impact on the paper's conclusion. Simple typographic errors were the most common error type (62.5%). The corrected publication error rate was 1.3%, with a steady trend over the twenty years.Conclusions: Publications errors are inevitable, but it is possible to minimize them. The number of corrections in emergency medicine literature is at a low rate and show many similarities with the previous literature.

The concept of carbon neutrality has been promoted and implemented in increasing countries since the twenty-first century. In-depth research on carbon neutrality has helped improve the environmental conditions and played a particular role in sustaining economic and social development. However, there is a less comprehensive review of the status in this field; therefore, this article uses the information visualization software CiteSpace to thoroughly analyze carbon neutrality research from multiple perspectives. This study aims to reveal the current research evolutions and hotspots in this field, predict future research trends, and construct the framework for better understanding. The results find that the number of papers published on carbon neutrality keeps increasing annually, and carbon neutrality has been the widely participated domain. In addition, publications by organizations and in top journals have aroused wide attention, and the hot spots on carbon neutrality have shifted to policy, recovery, and efficiency. Based on the results, a knowledge framework of this domain is constructed to give readers a clearer understanding of the evolvement and trends, which will also provide targeted references and help for future researchers.

To analyse the current scientific knowledge and research lines focused on environmentally sustainable health systems, including the role of nurses.There seem to be differences between creating interventions focused on environmentally sustainable health systems, including nurses, and the scarcity of research on this topic, framed on the Sustainable Development Goals.A bibliometric analysis was carried out, via three databases (Web of Science, Scopus and Pubmed), and the guideline recommendations were followed to select bibliometric data.The search resulted in 159 publications, significantly increasing the trends from 2017 to 2021 (p = .028). The most relevant countries in this area were the United States, the United Kingdom and Sweden. Also, the top articles were from relevant journals, indexed in Journal Citation Report, and the first and the second quartiles linked to the nursing field and citations (p .001).Education is key to achieving environmentally sustainable health systems via institutions and policies.There is a lack of experimental data and policies on achieving or maintaining environmentally sustainable health care systems, indicating that nurses have an important role and should be consulted and included in decision-making policies regarding sustainability in the health care systems.

Material and methods: The data used in the research, which attributed as a secondary data, were obtained from the Web of Science (WoS) Core Collection database. After the inclusion and exclusion criteria on the subject, 680 publications were reached and those publications was analyzed. SciMAT, one of the software that provides bibliometric analysis, was used in the analysis. Strategic diagrams, cluster networks and thematic development map were analyzed as 4 periods, (1992-2000, 2001-2010, 2011-2016, 2017-2020) covering the last 29 years.Results: While "cost" was the motor theme in the first period (1992-2000), in the following periods "cloud computing, access control, public key encryption, privacy preserving, big data, electronic medical record, technology" were motor themes. Themes obtained by using the thematic development map; cloud computing in healthcare, risks based on outsourcing, general operational problems and cost issues. The results regarding to the cost are far from certain.Conclusion: It is important for hospital managers to be aware of cloud computing and to pay attention to the quality level of services while aiming to reduce costs with outsourcing. In order to keep the risks that may arise from outsourcing at a minimum level, it is beneficial to take precautionary measures for risks in outsourcing agreements between health institutions and companies.

There are various positions on what literature represents ‘core’ event management research and to what degree ‘peripheral’ tourism and hospitality (T&H) literature influences and overlaps with this field. Previous literature reviews have made progress but methodological challenges remain. The influences of journal lists, performance-based research funding systems and selective databases are discussed regarding the journal selection of events researchers. An exploratory approach to charting the core and periphery of events related research was taken. Firstly, the relevance of a wide range of journals to event management research was tested using a measure of inter-rater agreement. Twenty-four of the fifty-three journals reviewed were selected as relevant. Secondly, a bibliometric analysis of highly cited articles was carried out. 272 of 480 papers from 2008-2018 were selected and further examined using citation analysis. Three, four-star journals accounted for 60% of all references within the sample, despite only accounting for 23% of the total article volume. Quantitative research and articles about festivals or sports events were predominant in the sample, although the research methodology used and types of events chosen by individual articles had limited or no effect on the number of citations received. Most (77%) authors were based in Australia, Europe, New Zealand and North America. Future reviews are advised to investigate blended approaches, open data, non-selective databases and international perspectives.

This study investigated the research trends, key areas, and directions of water rights (WRs) using bibliometric data based on the Science Citation Index Expanded (SCI-E) and Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI). This paper presents a comprehensive review of annual output, research fields, cooperative networks, published journals, and hot spot evolution from 1971 to 2020. The results show that the number of published papers on WRs has an exponential upward trend. This research mainly focuses on water resources, environmental sciences, environmental studies, law, agronomy, and political science. Rutgerd Boelens and Barbara Van Koppen are authors of the most widely published and influential factors in the field. Leo Heller, Priscila Neves-Silva, and Jeroen Vos have been the most recently active authors. University of New Mexico and the United States Department of Agriculture are the organizations with the most publications and total citations, respectively. The USA, China, Australia, the UK, The Netherlands, and Spain are among the most productive countries for WR research. Keyword analysis showed that the study of WRs has gone through three stages: the exploration of laws and regulations, comprehensive management, and technology development and application. Literature citation cluster analysis shows that a highly central article provides a strong link between internal research on WRs. Western USA, trading WRs, and constitutional reform were hot spots before 2010, while economic anthropology, combined effect, public attitude, and integrated assessment modeling have become popular recently. The study results can help experts understand the research progress in WRs.

Liver cirrhosis is the leading cause of liver-related mortality worldwide. It is currently a global health challenge.This research intended to explore and analyse research trends and frontiers in this field during the last 10 years, providing new inspiration for clinical decision-making and scientific research.Publications on hepatic cirrhosis research were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection on April 4, 2021. Bibliometric visualisation was conducted through VOSviewer and CiteSpace.The analytic research was based on original articles and reviews. A total of 7775 records of hepatic cirrhosis published from 2011 to 2020 were retrieved. In the past ten years, the number of related annual publications has increased significantly, especially in the United States and China. All publications were distributed among 109 countries. The United States contributed the most (21.95%) and was consistently the leading driving force, with a solid academic reputation in this area. The University of Barcelona distributed the most related articles (177 articles) and was cited the most frequently. TheThis study identified developing trends in the evolution of liver cirrhosis to provide new inspiration for researchers.

To critically examine the role that case studies play in recent paleopathological literature, by evaluating their frequency of publication, academic impact, and the public engagement they generate.Articles published in International Journal of Paleopathology between 2011 and 2018 (N = 377).Articles were coded as case studies, population studies, methodological studies, or reviews. Case studies were coded as cultural practices, differential diagnosis, historical, or methodological/theoretical. We utilized bibliometric analysis to assess academic impact and altmetric analysis to evaluate public engagement.Case studies continue to be the most frequently published, but least frequently cited, article type. There are no significant differences in public engagement data between article types. Methodological/theoretical case studies have the most academic impact. Differential diagnosis case studies have the least academic impact and generate the least public engagement.The case study genre includes a variety of approaches, some of which hold significant potential for contributing to the discipline of paleopathology and beyond.This study updates Mays' (2012b) citation analysis, pioneers the use of altmetric data to analyze public engagement with paleopathological publications, and identifies less productive approaches and areas of heightened relevance in the case study genre.Publications in only one journal were analyzed. Only one source was utilized for citation data (Google Scholar) and one source for altmetric data (PlumX).Expanding the granular analysis of case studies piloted here to additional journals and/or citation indexes to enlarge the sample size and provide keener insights.

Publication metrics are used to evaluate and compare research productivity among academic faculty. However, traditional bibliometrics, such as the Hirsch index and article citation count, are limited by lack of field-normalization and yield inaccurate cross-specialty comparisons. Herein, we evaluate the use of a new field-normalized article-level metric developed by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), known as the relative citation ratio (RCR), among American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES) fellowship faculty and analyzed physician factors associated with RCR values.A retrospective data analysis was performed using the iCite database for all shoulder and elbow surgery fellowship faculty listed on the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES) directory as of November 14, 2021. Mean RCR, weighted RCR, and total publication count were compared by sex, career duration, academic rank, and presence of additional degrees. Mean RCR represents the total number of article citations per year of a publication divided by the average number of citations per year received by NIH-funded papers in the same field; mean RCR serves as a measure of overall research impact. A value of 1.0 is the NIH-funded field-normalized standard. The weighted RCR represents the sum of all article-level RCR scores and is a measure of overall research productivity. Student t tests were used for two-group analyses whereas analyses of variance were used for between-group comparisons of 3 or more subgroups.A total of 145 ASES fellowship faculty members from 33 fellowship programs were included in the analysis. Overall, ASES fellowship faculty produced highly impactful research with a median RCR of 1.8 (interquartile range [IQR] 1.4-2.3) and a median weighted RCR of 67.0 (IQR 21.1-212.7). Advanced academic rank and career longevity were associated with increased weighted RCR and total publication count. All subgroups analyzed had an RCR value above 1.0.ASES fellowship faculty are exceptionally productive and produce highly impactful research, as evidenced by the high median RCR value relative to the benchmark NIH RCR value of 1.0. This information can be used as a standard to assess the improvement of grant outcomes, promotion, fellowship education, and continued evaluation of research productivity in the shoulder and elbow community.

Author-level performance metrics do not account for collaboration and knowledge transfer between people, institutions, and countries. We propose the i-index and r-index, publication metrics that aim to incentivize the collaboration between researchers and research institutions across borders. These indices promote benefit-sharing among countries of different levels of development.

The conceptual structure of opioids, based on the bibliometric analysis of 4,935 articles of the Web of Science using the following indices: Science Citation Index Expanded (SCI-EXPANDED), Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI), Conference Proceedings Citation Index—Science (CPCI-S), Conference Proceedings Citation Index- Social Science and Humanities (CPCI-SSH), Book Citation Index—Science (BKCI-S), Book Citation Index—Social Sciences and Humanities (BKCI-SSH) and Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI), was constructed. We analyzed the available articles with the words “Opioids” and “Cancer.” We show the evolution and the state of the art in countries where these treatments are implemented. The results were processed identifying the most cited articles to extract the main connections and frequencies of keywords, authors, journals, countries, institutions, and their tendencies and their connection and degree of collaboration. The temporal tendencies, the word cloud, the keyword network, the evolution of words, author's production, and the scientific production by country are analyzed in terms of the increasing frequency in which opioids are employed to treat both cancerous and non-cancerous pain.

Artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) have seen increasingly intimate integration with medicine and healthcare in the last 2 decades. The objective of this study was to summarize all current applications of AI and ML in the vascular surgery literature and to conduct a bibliometric analysis of published studies.A comprehensive literature search was conducted through Embase, MEDLINE, and Ovid HealthStar from inception until February 19, 2021. Reporting of this study was conducted using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines. Title and abstract screening, full-text screening, and data extraction were conducted in duplicate. Data extracted included study metadata, the clinical area of study within vascular surgery, type of AI/ML method used, dataset, and the application of AI/ML. Publishing journals were classified as having either a clinical scope or technical scope. The author academic background was classified as clinical, nonclinical (e.g., engineering), or both, depending on author affiliation.The initial search identified 7,434 studies, of which 249 were included for a final analysis. The rate of publications is exponentially increasing, with 158 (63%) studies being published in the last 5 years alone. Studies were most commonly related to carotid artery disease (118, 47%), abdominal aortic aneurysms (51, 20%), and peripheral arterial disease (26, 10%). Study authors employed an average of 1.50 (range: 1-6) distinct AI methods in their studies. The application of AI/ML methods broadly related to predictive models (54, 22%), image segmentation (49, 19.4%), diagnostic methods (46, 18%), or multiple combined applications (91, 37%). The most commonly used AI/ML methods were artificial neural networks (155/378 use cases, 41%), support vector machines (64, 17%), k-nearest neighbors algorithm (26, 7%), and random forests (23, 6%). Datasets to which these AI/ML methods were applied frequently involved ultrasound images (87, 35%), computed tomography (CT) images (42, 17%), clinical data (34, 14%), or multiple datasets (36, 14%). Overall, 22 (9%) studies were published in journals specific to vascular surgery, with the majority (147/249, 59%) being published in journals with a scope related to computer science or engineering. Among 1,576 publishing authors, 46% had exclusively a clinical background, 48% a nonclinical background, and 5% had both a clinical and nonclinical background.There is an exponentially growing body of literature describing the use of AI and ML in vascular surgery. There is a focus on carotid artery disease and abdominal aortic disease, with many other areas of vascular surgery under-represented. Neural networks and support vector machines composed most AI methods in the literature. As AI/ML continue to see expanded applications in the field, it is important that vascular surgeons appreciate its potential and limitations. In addition, as it sees increasing use, there is a need for clinicians with expertise in AI/ML methods who can optimize its transition into daily practice.

While English has become the lingua franca of global science, it has been well-established that especially in the social sciences and humanities (SSH), communication of original research results in multiple languages is an ongoing practice (Kulczycki et al., 2020). But are the natural sciences, engineering, medicine and agriculture as research fields entirely dominated by English language communication? Standard publication and citation databases, notably Web of Science and Scopus, predominantly index peer-reviewed articles published in international English language journals. This means that research published in languages other than English remains invisible. In addition, these databases ignore science communication, which is specifically targeted to professional and general audiences outside academia. In this study we rely on more comprehensive data sources developed in Poland and Finland by integrating publication data from local Current Research Information Systems (CRIS) of universities (Sile et al., 2018). Our aim is to investigate and compare the multilingual publishing patterns across the OECD major field classifications (OECD 2007), i.e. Natural Sciences, Engineering and Technology, Medical and Health Sciences, Agricultural Sciences, Social sciences, and Humanities. The main research questions are: 1. How many languages individual researchers at Polish universities use in publishing peer-reviewed outputs, and what is the share of English, national language and the other languages, across the OECD main fields? 2. How many languages are used, and what is the share of English, national languages and the other languages, in the peer-reviewed publication output of Finnish and Polish universities across the OECD main fields? 3. How large share of the non-peer-reviewed publication output (targeted mainly to professional and general audiences) of the Finnish universities is in English, national languages and the other languages across the OECD main fields? We created two datasets to investigate these questions: Polish dataset consists of bibliographical records of 67,413 researchers affiliated with Polish higher-education institutions or research institutes, and their 1,031,141 peer-reviewed outputs published in 2013-2016, from the Polish Scholarly Bibliography, which is part of the Polish current research information system POL-on (Korytkowski & Kulczycki, 2019). Finnish dataset consists of 74,987 peer-reviewed and non-peer-reviewed publications (publication year 2019-20), the metadata of which is recorded in the national VIRTA Publication Information Service. Introduction: the presentation of research at a congress is an interesting means for scientific dissemination, but only with publication in an indexed journal does the data become accessible and disseminated. The conversion rate in published articles of abstracts presented at congresses is an indicator to assess the scientific quality of those events. The aim of this study is to evaluate bibliometric characteristics of abstracts presented at the Brazilian Congress of Coloproctology and to determine the factors that affect publication rates. Methods: Retrospective evaluation of all abstracts presented at the Brazilian Congresses of Coloproctology from 2015 to 2019. Multiple databases were analyzed to estimate the conversion rate of the presented papers, as well as variables associated with the conversion of abstracts into full manuscripts through bivariate analysis and multivariate variables of these predictors. Results: 1756 abstracts were analyzed. Most studies are retrospective, series or case reports, and even personal experience. The conversion rate was 6.9%. The presence of statistical analysis was twice as high for published abstracts as for unpublished ones. Conclusion: the data presented demonstrate a low scientific productivity of the specialty, since the research carried out is, for the most part, not published as complete manuscripts. The predictors of publication of abstracts were: multicenter studies, studies with statistical analysis, study designs with a higher level of evidence and studies awarded by the congress. RESUMO Introdução: a apresentação de pesquisas em um congresso é meio interessante para disseminação científica, porém apenas com a publicação em revista indexada é que os dados se tornam acessíveis e disseminados. A taxa de conversão em artigos publicados de resumos apresentados em congressos é um indicador para avaliar a qualidade científica de seus eventos. O objetivo deste estudo é avaliar características bibliométricas dos resumos apresentados no Congresso Brasileiro de Coloproctologia e determinar os fatores que afetam as taxas de publicação. Métodos: avaliação retrospectiva de todos os resumos apresentados nos Congressos Brasileiros de Coloproctologia dos anos de 2015 a 2019. Análise de múltiplas bases de dados para estimar a taxa de conversão dos trabalhos apresentados, assim como variáveis associadas à conversão dos resumos em manuscritos completos através de análises bivariadas e multivariadas desses preditores. Resultados: foram analisados 1756 resumos. A maioria dos estudos são retrospectivos, séries ou relatos de casos e até experiência pessoal. A taxa de conversão foi de 6,9%. A presença de análise estatística foi o dobro para os resumos publicados frente aos não publicados. Conclusão: os dados apresentados demonstram uma baixa produtividade científica da especialidade, já que as pesquisas realizadas não são publicadas, em sua maioria, como manuscritos completos. Os fatores preditores de publicação dos resumos foram: estudos multicêntricos, estudos contendo análise estatística, desenhos de estudo de maior nível de evidência e estudos premiados pelo congresso.
