The aim of this work was to compare the fatty acid (FA) composition of oil from irradiated and un-irradiated cherry kernels (ChK). Cherry kernel were exposed to radiation doses of 0, 3 and 6 kGy of gamma irradiation covering the range for insect/pest disinfestations and for microbial load. The FA composition of cherry kernel oil (ChKO) was analyzed with using gas chromatography analysis. Oleic acid (C18:1) was consistently present in the highest quantity with averaged 51.07% of the total FA. The FA existing in second highest quantity was linoleic acid (C18:2) showing 38.03% on the average, followed by palmitic acid (C16:0) averaged 7.71%, stearic acid (C18:0) averaged 2.41%, palmitic acid (C16:1) averaged 0.42%, and linolenic acid (C:18:3) averaged 0.38%. indicating that it can be used for human consumption. In the present study, Palmitic, stearic, oleic, linoleic and linolenic acid, SFA and USFA were not affected by irradiation or storing. Conclusively, the ChKO may have sufficient oil volume potential to be used as edible (domestic) and industrial oil.

We introduce a dynamic version of the graph coloring problem and prove its fixed-parameter tractability with respect to the edit-parameter. This is used to present a {\em turbo-charged} heuristic for the problem that works by combining the turbo-charging technique with other standard heuristic tools, including greedy coloring. The recently introduced turbo-charging idea is further enhanced in this paper by introducing a dynamic version of the so called {\em moment of regret} and {\em rollback points}. Experiments comparing our turbo-charging algorithm to other heuristics demonstrate its effectiveness. Our algorithm often produced results that were either exact or better than all the other available heuristics.

We present a numerical study of the injection and trapping process of a bunch of relativistic free electrons into a transverse high intensity optical lattice. We unravel different injection regimes depending on the characteristic length scale of the onset of the optical lattice , and explore how the characteristics of the electron beam and of the high intensity lattice affect the trapping rate. The average transverse kinetic energy , and the induced longitudinal energy broadening are studied. The analysis of the transverse phase space exhibits a complex behavior , leading to inhomogeneities that may affect the amplification dynamics of X-ray Free Electron Laser .

International audience; Lors de l’explosion d’une étoile, d’énormes quantités d’énergies sont émises sous forme de rayonnement électromagnétique dont le spectre en fréquence est proche du rayonnement gamma. Ces bouffés d’énergies sont appelé Gamma-Ray-Burst (GRB) [1], [2]. Depuis de nom-breuses années de nombreux scientifiques essaient de comprendre l’origine et les processus menant à l’émission de ce rayonnement haute énergétique, en considérant la dynamique du plasma formé au cours de l’interaction des couches de l’étoile en expansion avec le milieu in-terstellaire (ISM) [3], [4]. La formation du choc est initiée avec le développement de micros instabilités en tête l’instabilité Weibel capable d’expliquer certains ingrédients clefs pour les GRBs [5]. L’objectif de ce travail est la compréhension des processus physiques pouvant meneraux ralentissement des ions, engendrant un choc de nature non collisionnel. L’idée clé est de comprendre comment les énergies cinétiques des particules sont transférées en énergie électromagnétique.

International audience; The energy release rate of small cracks governs fatigue crack nucleation. A method is presented here to efficiently and accurately evaluate the energy release rate of such cracks, arbitrarily oriented, under general conditions of finite multiaxial loading. As a motivation, the dependence on crack length is then investigated. It is demonstrated that the energy release rate of small cracks is proportional to the crack length and that the proportionality factor is a function of the far-field parameters only. An attempt is then made to search for a general expression of this proportionality factor under simple loading conditions.

A qualitative characterization of 16 polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in pea seeds before and post gamma irradiation has been carried out using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). Seeds were exposed to gamma irradiation at 1, 5, 10 and 15 kGy doses. PAHs were extracted and their concentrations were correlated with the peak height, at each dose and compared to control samples.
