The usage of socially assistive robots for autism therapies has increased in recent years. This novel therapeutic tool allows the specialist to keep track of the improvement in socially assistive tasks for autistic children, who hypothetically prefer object-based over human interactions. These kinds of tools also allow the collection of new information to early diagnose neurodevelopment disabilities. This work presents the integration of an output feedback adaptive controller for trajectory tracking and energetic autonomy of a mobile socially assistive robot for autism spectrum disorder under an event-driven control scheme. The proposed implementation integrates facial expression and emotion recognition algorithms to detect the emotions and identities of users (providing robustness to the algorithm since it automatically generates the missing input parameters, which allows it to complete the recognition) to detonate a set of adequate trajectories. The algorithmic implementation for the proposed socially assistive robot is presented and implemented in the Linux-based Robot Operating System. It is considered that the optimization of energetic consumption of the proposal is the main contribution of this work, as it will allow therapists to extend and adapt sessions with autistic children. The experiment that validates the energetic optimization of the proposed integration of an event-driven control scheme is presented.

Wastewater from a municipal wastewater treatment plant (Mexico) was treated by a coagulation-flocculation using natural gums. The residual water was characterized in terms of organic load, and biological contaminants, i.e. total Coliforms (TC), fecal Coliforms (FC) and helminth eggs (HE). The sample has values of 2.8 × 107 MPN/100 ml, 8.48 × 106 MPN/100 ml and 470 HE/L is regarded to TC, FC and HH, respectively. The HE identified in the wastewaters were Diphyllobothrium latum, Ascaris lumbricoides, Hymenolepis nana and Toxocara canis. From several gums, Hydroxypropyl triammonium chloride guar gum (HPTAC-guar) was selected as the most adequate coagulant-flocculant for the class of municipal wastewater (MWW). A diminution of 82% for TC, 94% for FC and 99% for HE was obtained. Besides, the reduction of chemical oxygen demand (COD) and turbidity removals were 46% and 39% respectively. The natural gum mixed with Ca(OH)2, obtained removals of 52% for TC, 100% for HE, 47% for COD and 30% for turbidity.

Differential Neural Networks (DNN) state identification of 3D Distributed Parameters Systems is studied in this paper. A lot of examples in science and engineering of systems described mathematically by partial differential equations (PDE's), posses the disadvantage of having many sources of uncertainties around their mathematical representation. Moreover to find the exact solutions of those PDE's is not a trivial task especially if the PDE is described in two or more dimensions. It is well known that neural networks can approximate a large set of continuous functions defined on a compact set to an arbitrary accuracy. A strategy based on DNN for the non parametric identification of a mathematical model described by a class of three dimensional (3D) PDE is proposed. The adaptive laws for weights ensure the “practical stability” of the DNN trajectories to the parabolic 3D-PDE states. To verify the qualitative behavior of the suggested methodology, here a non parametric modeling problem for a distributed parameter plant is analyzed.

En el presente trabajo se realiz´o la caracterizaci ´on volum´etrica in vivo de tres biosensores de folato a trav´es de la adquisici ´on de im´agenes de diferentes modalidades (rayos X, fluorescencia, luminiscencia Cerenkov e imagen radioisot ´opica) y el desarrollo de un algoritmo de reconstrucci ´on tridimensional (3D). El sistema multimodal de imagen precl´ınica Xtreme, junto con el sistema de rotaci ´on multimodal de animales (MARS por sus siglas en ingl´es), fueron utilizados para adquirir las im´agenes bidimensionales (2D). Estas im´agenes capturadas fueron procesadas para obtener la reconstrucci ´on 3D de ´organos de inter´es. Se adquirieron im´agenes de ratones a diferentes tiempos (distribuci ´on del biosensor) en las 4 distintas modalidades. La transformada inversa de Radon y la retroproyecci ´on filtrada fueron las t´ecnicas utilizadas para la reconstrucci ´on. El algoritmo desarrollado en Matlab® permiti ´o en una primera instancia, reconstruir en forma 3D la estructura del esqueleto de los ratones bajo estudio. Posteriormente, el algoritmo fue capaz de cuantificar los perfiles volum´etricos de 99mTc-Folato-Bombesina (imagen radioisot ´opica), 177Lu-Folato-Bombesina (imagen de luminiscencia Cerenkov), y FolateRSense™ 680 (imagen de fluorescencia) en los tumores y ri ˜nones de los ratones. No se detectaron diferencias significativas en las cuantificaciones volum´etricas entre t´ecnicas de medici ´on est´andar y las obtenidas por la propuesta realizada en este estudio, ni entre las captaciones volum´etricas en las estructuras de inter´es. A partir de las estructuras reconstruidas en forma 3D, se logr´o la fusi ´on de estructuras anat ´omicas (como el esqueleto) y funcionales derivadas de las im´agenes de captaci ´on de los biosensores. El algoritmo de reconstrucci ´on 3D de imagen puede ser extrapolado f´acilmente a diferentes sistemas de adquisici ´on de im´agenes 2D. ´Esta flexibilidad caracter´ıstica del algoritmo desarrollado en este estudio, es una ventaja en comparaci ´on con m´etodos similares de reconstrucci ´on reportados hasta el momento.

International audience; A new homogeneous quasi-continuous second order sliding mode control algorithm is developed. The Lyapunov function for finite-time stability analysis is constructed. The homogeneity property of the algorithm is analyzed. The chattering attenuation procedure using Lyapunov function of the closed-loop system is discussed. The scheme for control parameters tuning based on linear matrix inequalities is elaborated. The theoretical results are supported by numerical simulations.
