1. GRIFFIN: A C++ library for electroweak radiative corrections in fermion scattering and decay processes

Abstract

This paper describes a modular framework for the description of electroweak scattering and decay processes, including but not limited to Z-resonance physics. The framework consistently combines a complex-pole expansion near a s-channel resonance with a regular fixed-order perturbative description away from the resonance, in a manifestly gauge-invariant scheme. Leading vertex correction contributions are encapsulated in form factors that can be predicted or treated as numerical fit parameters. This framework has been implemented in the publicly available object-oriented C++ library GRIFFIN. Version 1.0 of this library provides Standard Model predictions for the process $f\bar{f} \to f'\bar{f}'$ with full NNLO and leading higher-order contributions on the Z-resonance, and with NLO corrections off resonance. The library can straightforwardly be extended to include higher-order corrections, should they become available, or predictions for new physics models. It can be interfaced with Monte-Carlo programs to account for QED and QCD initial-state and final-state radiation., 20 pages; program code is available for download at https://github.com/lisongc/GRIFFIN/releases

2. Joint Multiple Intent Detection and Slot Filling via Self-distillation

Abstract

Intent detection and slot filling are two main tasks in natural language understanding (NLU) for identifying users' needs from their utterances. These two tasks are highly related and often trained jointly. However, most previous works assume that each utterance only corresponds to one intent, ignoring the fact that a user utterance in many cases could include multiple intents. In this paper, we propose a novel Self-Distillation Joint NLU model (SDJN) for multi-intent NLU. First, we formulate multiple intent detection as a weakly supervised problem and approach with multiple instance learning (MIL). Then, we design an auxiliary loop via self-distillation with three orderly arranged decoders: Initial Slot Decoder, MIL Intent Decoder, and Final Slot Decoder. The output of each decoder will serve as auxiliary information for the next decoder. With the auxiliary knowledge provided by the MIL Intent Decoder, we set Final Slot Decoder as the teacher model that imparts knowledge back to Initial Slot Decoder to complete the loop. The auxiliary loop enables intents and slots to guide mutually in-depth and further boost the overall NLU performance. Experimental results on two public multi-intent datasets indicate that our model achieves strong performance compared to others.

3. Mixed EW-QCD leading fermionic three-loop corrections at $\mathcal{O}(��_s��^2)$ to electroweak precision observables

Abstract

Measurements of electroweak precision observables at future electron-positron colliders, such as the CEPC, FCC-ee, and ILC, will be sensitive to physics at multi-TeV scales. To achieve this sensitivity, precise predictions for the Standard Model expectations of these observables are needed, including corrections at the three- and four-loop level. In this article, results are presented for the calculation of a subset of three-loop mixed electroweak-QCD corrections, stemming from diagrams with a gluon exchange and two closed fermion loops. The numerical impact of these corrections is illustrated for a number of applications: the prediction of the W-boson mass from the Fermi constant, the effective weak mixing angle, and the partial and total widths of the Z boson. Two alternative renormalization schemes for the top-quark mass are considered, on-shell and $\overline{\mbox{MS}}$., 15 pages, 5 figures

Abstract

In this paper, a three-dimensional multi-body dynamic model of a seafloor mining vehicle is developed in the RecurDyn simulation program by integrating the developed terramechanics model of the seafloor sediment. The discrete element method (DEM) is employed to model a mining pipeline as discrete rigid elements linked by flexible connectors. An innovative user-defined subroutine for parametrically and rapidly automatically building a DEM model for such long pipeline is developed in the C language in RecurDyn. A new 3D multi-body dynamic model of a total deep ocean mining vehicle-pipeline-ship system is established with the integration of developed models for subsystems. The integrated motion simulations are achieved and demonstrate that the synchronized stable motion of the total system can be well maintained during operation processes. Do danes še ni bil narejen opis kompleksne dinamike celotnih sistemov za rudarjenje na globokih morjih. Izvajanje preizkusov na oceanu bi bila draga in izjemno težavna naloga, zato s tem pristopom ni mogoče vrednotiti konstrukcijskih rešitev in njihove sposobnosti za trajno obratovanje. Učinkovit vpogled v te lastnosti pa je mogoče pridobiti s simulacijami dinamike sistema. Članek opisuje razvoj točnih in učinkovitih modelov dinamike podsistemov, ki so združeni v model celotnega sistema. V jeziku C je bila pripravljena inovativna uporabniška podrutina za popis posebnega teramehanskega modela sedimentov na morskem dnu, ki je bila dodana v paket za simulacije RecurDyn/Track in nato validirana z laboratorijskimi preizkusi.

Abstract

4,4'-Diaminostilbene-2,2'-disulfonic acid based fluorescent whitening agents (DSD-FWAs) are prohibited in food-contact paper and board in many countries. In this work, a reliable high-performance liquid chromatography method was developed for the simultaneous determination of 11 common DSD-FWAs in paper material. Sample preparation and extraction as well as chromatographic separation of multicomponent DSD-FWAs were successfully optimized. DSD-FWAs in prepared samples were ultrasonically extracted with acetonitrile/water/triethylamine (40:60:1, v/v/v), separated on the C(18) column with the mobile phase containing tetrabutylammonium bromide, and then detected by a fluorescence detector. The limits of detection were 0.12-0.24 mg/kg, and the calibration curves showed the linear correlation (R(2) ≥ 0.9994) within the range of 8.0-100 ng/mL, which was equivalent to the range of 0.80-10 mg/kg in the sample. The average recoveries and the RSDs were 81-106% and 2-9% at two fortification levels (1.0 and 5.0 mg/kg) in paper bowls, respectively. The successful determination of 11 DSD-FWAs in food-contact paper and board obtained from local markets indicated that the newly developed method was rapid, accurate, and highly selective.

Abstract

In this paper, we took the model of the pyramidal cell in the electrosensory lateral line lobe (ELL) of weakly electric fish as study object, which described the dynamic characteristic on the both soma and dendrite, and after theoretical analysis and simulation we analyze its phenomenon by choosing the applied current which is the synaptic one flowing into the somatic compartment as the bifurcation parameter; then, we choose wash-out filter as a controller to force the dynamical system form the periodic firing to the chaotic bursting. The easy measurable of membrane voltage, make such kind of analysis a meaningful research. The simulation results verify the analysis and methods are all accurate.

Abstract

The International Linear Collider (ILC) is on the table now as a new global energy-frontier accelerator laboratory taking data in the 2030s. The ILC addresses key questions for our current understanding of particle physics. It is based on a proven accelerator technology. Its experiments will challenge the Standard Model of particle physics and will provide a new window to look beyond it.
