La ortodoncia es una especialidad de la odontología que busca la armonía dentofacial, teniendo como principio básico el movimiento de dientes a través del complejo dentoalveolar por medio del fenómeno físico llamado fuerza, teniendo en cuenta que si no se controla esta fuerza se pueden desencadenar procesos patológicos como reabsorción radicular externa influenciada por varios factores biomecánicos afectando la estructura dental del paciente y disminuyendo la posibilidad de que el tratamiento sea exitoso. La presente revisión tiene como objetivo analizar la información electrónica bibliográfica útil referente a los factores biomecánicos que predisponen una aparición de reabsorción radicular externa post ortodoncia por medio de una revisión de literatura en donde se han tomado en cuenta plataformas de investigación bibliográfica tales como PubMed, Scopus, Ovid y Web of Science; donde se evidencia que factores biomecánicos como fuerzas intrusivas, fuerzas continuas y prolongadas aumentan significativamente el grado de reabsorción radicular. Como argumento concluyente se establece que se recomienda realizar control radiográfico y una pausa en tratamientos de pacientes que ya presentan reabsorción radicular visible para disminuir su severidad.

Finite element analysis is used to estimate the displacements and forces present in each element of a structure. This type of analysis is time consuming in pre-processing, processing, and post-processing. It also incurs considerable computational costs. A simplified methodology is therefore required to reduce design time considerably. The research involved the development and application of an experimental methodology and a simulation, using Ansys Research software’s LS-DYNA module, in which loads are applied in accordance with the ANSI/TIA 222-G standard used in the telecommunications industry. The matrix method was applied, obtaining results for nodal displacement that were compared with the results of physical tests and a metamodel, showing a variation range of 8.44%. In addition, it was shown that a metamodel can be used during the pre-design stage, significantly reducing the time required for analysis.

Acelerar la tasa de movimiento dental puede ayudar a reducir la duración del tratamiento de ortodoncia y los efectos secundarios debido al largo uso de aparatos ortodónticos, existen varios métodos complementarios quirúrgicos y no quirúrgicos, para acelerar el movimiento de los dientes. El objetivo de esta revisión fue evaluar la evidencia disponible sobre la efectividad del movimiento ortodóntico acelerado de los dientes a través de abordajes complementarios no quirúrgicos en humanos y sus mecanismos biológicos. Se realizó una búsqueda en la literatura, las bases de datos electrónicas consultadas incluyeron los motores de búsqueda: Pubmed, Cochrane Library, Google Academic, Web of Science y Springer. La búsqueda de información se realizó desde enero del 2013 a enero del 2023 sin límite de idioma. Se obtubieron 393 artículos, luego de aplicar los filtros y criterios de inclusión y exclusión se establecieron 63 artículos para realizar esta revisión. La literatura disponible reveló que existe un nivel de evidencia de moderada a baja con respecto a la terapia láser de baja intensidad y la efectividad en la aceleración del movimiento dental ortodóntico, por otra parte, el nivel de evidencia es limitado en la fotobiomodulación, vibración, ultrasonido y en el uso de fármacos.

La sonrisa gingival puede ser considerada como el exceso maxilar vertical esquelético (VME) y el tratamiento ideal sería la corrección quirúrgica; sin embargo existe diversas propuestas de tratamiento no quirúrgico, entre las cuales destaca el uso de mecánicas ortodóncicas con mini-implantes/minitornillos, en tal sentido diversos mencionan beneficios y otras literaturas desventajas a su aplicación. Se planteó como objetivo describir el uso de mini-implantes para el tratamiento de la sonrisa gingival. La literatura se seleccionó mediante una búsqueda en las bases de datos electrónicas: Pubmed, Google Académico, Web of science, Proquest y Lilacs. La búsqueda de la información se realizó sin limite de temporalidad en publicaciones y con la inclusión de todos los idiomas. Luego de la exhaustiva revisión de literatura se seleccionaron 501 artículos, posteriormente al aplicar los criterios de inclusión y exclusión en total se obtuvieron y revisaron 21 artículos para el desarrollo de esta revisón de literatura. Esta literatura disponible reveló que el uso de miniimplantes para corregir la sobremordida vertical y la sonrisa gingival es una alternativa válida a los ortognatos, ademas puede controlar más fácilmente el movimiento de íntrusión, así mismo, los factores que influyen en el éxito del tratamiento variarían de acuerdo a la elección del método de tratamiento.

SUMMARY Water is known to induce weakening on the static mechanical properties of rocks. However, injection-based operations such as EGS or EOR are commonly monitored through seismic methods involving dynamic moduli. It is therefore important to understand and quantify the effect of water-weakening on dynamic properties. In this study, we performed water injection tests on microporous carbonate rocks (two chalks from the Mons Basin) with ultrasonic monitoring of P-wave velocity and attenuation in order to observe the evolution of the rock moduli with varying water saturation. Our experimental results were interpreted through (i) a classical patchy saturation or PS model and (ii) the same model coupled with water weakening effect through modulus reduction induced by surface energy decrease induced by water in the fluid–rock system, called the WW-PS model. We show that the WW-PS model can better fit the experimental data than the PS model for both selected chalks, but also the previously published data for Sherwood sandstone. Therefore fluid–rock interaction needs to be taken into account when dealing with a fluid not in equilibrium with the host reservoir in fluid injection operations. An extension to reservoir scale modelling is proposed to emphasize the potential impact of water weakening at larger scales.

Se estudió por métodos teóricos la naturaleza de las principales interacciones intermoleculares, a partir del análisis de archivos de información cristalográfica (CIF) de moléculas pseudohalogenadas CCl2FSCN*, CCl3SCN*, ClC(O)SCN*, FC(O)NCS*, FC(O)SCN*. Se estudió por el método de Hirshfeld, la contribución de las principales interacciones intermoleculares (gráficos 2D huellas dactilares) y las energías de interacción. Por otra parte, se realizó el análisis AIM, NCI, Laplaciano de la densidad electrónica y mapas de potencial electrostático, analizando varios parámetros fisicoquímicos como la lagraniana G(r), energía potencial virial V(r), Laplaciana, Hamiltoniano de la energía cinética H(r) y el operador , que permitieron clarificar el carácter y tipo de interacción intermolecular, complementando con el análisis NBO. Para las moléculas CCl2FC(O)NCS, CCl2FC(O)SCN, CCl3C(O)NCS, CCl3C(O)SCN, ClC(O)NCS, ClSCN y FSCN no se disponía de información cristalográfica (CIF), por lo tanto, se realizó una evaluación mediante análisis AIM, NCI, Laplaciano y mapas de potencial electrostático. Se utilizó software como Gaussian16W, MultiWfn, Crystal Explorer, Mercury, VMD y WinGx. Se evidenció interacciones N…S (calcógena), Cl…F (halógena) y N…Cl (halógeno) tipo agujero sigma presentes en las moléculas de tipo XC(O)SCN y XSCN (CCl2FSCN*, CCl3SCN*, ClC(O)SCN*, FC(O)NCS* y FC(O)SCN*) estudiadas desde los archivos CIF. Por otra parte, en el análisis de los mapas de potencial electrostático y el comportamiento del Laplaciano de densidad electrónica en los átomos, sin estructura cristalina (CIF), ClSCN evidencia disminución de la densidad electrónica en el átomo de cloro, por lo tanto, muestra potencial para formar interacciones N…Cl (halógeno), mientras que FSCN, CCl2FCOSCN y CCl3COSCN sugieren la probabilidad de interacciones N…S (calcógenas).

Background Low back pain (LBP) is a common reason for primary care consultation; yet doctors often find managing it challenging. An electronic decision support system for LBP (DeSSBack) was developed based on an evidence-based risk stratification tool to improve the management of patients with LBP in a Malaysian primary care setting. This pilot study aimed to assess the feasibility, acceptability, and preliminary effectiveness of DeSSBack for the conduct of a future definitive trial. Methods A pilot cluster randomized controlled trial (cRCT) with qualitative interviews was conducted. Each primary care doctor was considered a cluster and randomized to either the control (usual practice) or intervention (DeSSBack) group. Patient outcomes including Roland-Morris Disability Questionnaire (RMDQ), Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale, and a 10-point pain rating scale were measured at baseline and 2-month postintervention. The doctors in the intervention group were interviewed to explore feasibility and acceptability of using DeSSBack. Results Thirty-six patients with nonspecific LBP participated in this study (intervention n = 23; control n = 13). Fidelity was poor among patients but good among doctors. The RMDQ and anxiety score had medium effect sizes of 0.718 and 0.480, respectively. The effect sizes for pain score (0.070) and depression score were small (0.087). There was appreciable acceptability and satisfaction with use of DeSSBack, as it was helpful in facilitating thorough and standardized management, providing appropriate treatment plans based on risk stratification, improving consultation time, empowering patient-centred care, and easy to use. Conclusions A future cRCT to evaluate the effectiveness of DeSSBack is feasible to be conducted in a primary care setting with minor modifications. DeSSBack was found useful by doctors and can be improved to enhance efficiency. Trial registration The protocol of the cluster randomized controlled trial was registered at ClinicalTrials.gov (NCT04959669).

The characterisation of fast phenomena at the microscopic scale is required for the understanding of catastrophic responses of materials to loads and shocks, the processing of materials by optical or mechanical means, the processes involved in many key technologies such as additive manufacturing and microfluidics, and the mixing of fuels in combustion. Such processes are usually stochastic in nature and occur within the opaque interior volumes of materials or samples, with complex dynamics that evolve in all three dimensions at speeds exceeding many meters per second. There is therefore a need for the ability to record three-dimensional X-ray movies of irreversible processes with resolutions of micrometers and frame rates of microseconds. Here we demonstrate a method to achieve this by recording a stereo phase-contrast image pair in a single exposure. The two images are combined computationally to reconstruct a 3D model of the object. The method is extendable to more than two simultaneous views. When combined with megahertz pulse trains of X-ray free-electron lasers (XFELs) it will be possible to create movies able to resolve 3D trajectories with velocities of kilometers per second., Optics Express, 31 (11), ISSN:1094-4087

Stable isotopes are an important tool to describe the movement of water through the hydrosphere. They are used as tracers to characterize hydrograph properties. In field studies, stable isotope analyses using hourly and bulk end-member calculations can be used to estimate baseflow/precipitation contributions and to relate hydrograph response to land cover across a watershed. To enable proper planning of paved surface expansions and the nature of storm drainage systems, advanced understanding of the influences of spatial land-use patterns on Mediterranean streamflow regimes are needed to support water management in peri-urban catchments. This study focuses on Ribeira dos Covões, a small peri-urban catchment (around 6 km2), located in central continental Portugal. The catchment is composed of sandstone in the west portion (56%) and limestone in the east portion (41%), with some alluvial deposits (3%) in the main valleys. Flow and precipitation data were collected every five minutes during storms for several years. In 2018, sampling campaigns also included the collection of pre-event, event, and post-event water stable isotopes in different seasons of the year for streamflow at four sites, representing distinct land coverage and lithological landscape combinations. Preliminary results using precipitation and baseflow fraction calculations based on oxygen-18 measurements show that the catchment outlet provides a 49% baseflow contribution (old water fraction) at the beginning of the dry season and 36% in the wet season. An 85% baseflow contribution was estimated for Quinta (mainly forest area in sandstone) during the dry season, and 64-74% for Espírito Santo (largely urban in sandstone) during the wet season. The baseflow contribution at Porto Bordalo (urban area in limestone) is not significant because the flow is controlled by precipitation. Further investigation will involve connecting the results of most recent stable isotope data analyses to the approaches that were used in the past (e.g. separation of baseflow based on low-pass digital filters). Such connection will clarify streamflow response from distinct peri-urban pattern and lithological landscape combinations and their contributions to catchment runoff, aiming to explore the similarities and differences among these methods and quantify the effects of hydrological regime and land use changing patterns over time.

Achromatic doublets are combinations of two individual lenses designed to focus different wavelengths of light in the same position. Apochromatic optics are improved versions of the achromatic schemes which extend the wavelength range significantly. Both achromatic and apochromatic optics are well-established for visible light. However, X-ray achromatic lenses did not exist until very recently, and X-ray apochromatic lenses have never been experimentally demonstrated. Here, we create an X-ray apochromatic lens system using an appropriate combination of a Fresnel zone plate and a diverging compound refractive lens with a tuned separation distance. The energy-dependent performance of this apochromat was characterized at photon energies between 6.5 and 13.0 keV by ptychographic reconstruction of the focal spot and scanning transmission X-ray microscopy of a resolution test sample. The apochromat delivered a reconstructed focal spot size of 940 × 740 nm2. The apochromatic combination shows a four-fold improvement in the chromatic aberration correction range compared to an achromatic doublet configuration. Thus, apochromatic X-ray optics have the potential to increase the focal spot intensity for a wide variety of X-ray applications.

Background: Body mass composition (BC) was shown to correlate with outcome in patients after surgery and minor trauma. As BC is assessed using computed tomography (CT) and routinely applied in multiple trauma (MT), this study will help to analyze whether BC variables also correlate with outcome in trauma patients. Materials and Methods: Inclusion criteria were MT (Injury Severity Score (ISS) > 15) and whole-body CT (WBCT) scan on admission. Muscle and fat tissue were assessed at the level of the fourth thoracic vertebra (T4) and the third lumbar vertebra (L3) using Slice-O-matic software, version 5.0 (Tomovision, Montreal, QC, Canada). Univariate and multivariate regression models were used with regard to outcome parameters such as duration of ventilation, hospital stay, local (i.e., pneumonia, wound infection) and systemic (i.e., MODS, SIRS) complications, and mortality. Results: 297 patients were included. BC correlated with both the development and severity of complications. Skeletal muscle index (SMI) and subcutaneous adipose tissue index (SATI) at both T4 and L3 correlated positively with the occurrence of systemic infections. Local infections positively correlated with SMI at T4. Low muscle mass and high visceral adipose tissue (VAT) predicted the severity of systemic and local complications. Muscle tissue markers at both T4 and L3 predicted the severity of complications in roughly the same way. Moreover, higher muscle mass at the L3 level was significantly associated with higher overall survival, while SATI at the T4 level correlated positively with hospital stay, length of stay in the ICU, and duration of ventilation. Conclusions: A lower muscle mass and a high adipose tissue index are associated with a poor outcome in MT. For the first time, it was shown that BC at the fourth thoracic vertebra is associated with comparable results to those found at the third lumbar level.

La articulación temporomandibular es una articulación sinovial bilateral que permite la rotación y desplazamiento del cóndilo mandibular; así como también, los movimientos de apertura, cierre, protrusión, retrusión y lateralidad de la mandíbula y está compuesta anatómicamente por el tubérculo articular, el disco articular, la fosa mandibular (cartílagos articulares) y el cóndilo mandibular. Sin embargo, en la articulación temporomandibular ¿que es correcto y que no? Esta respuesta en cierto modo tiene diversas respuestas en el marco de la complejidad de la forma y la función en las relaciones de la región cráneo-cérvico maxilofacial; por lo cual, se realizó un estudio descriptivo de corte trasversal no experimental, el universo estuvo constituido por 580 individuos; de los cuales, la muestra fue de tipo censal y estuvo constituida por 170 adultos jóvenes de 18 a 24 años de edad de ambos sexos que cumplieron los criterios de inclusión; mismos que, para la participación en la investigación firmaron su autorización mediante el consentimiento informado. Introduction: Eastern equine encephalitis virus (EEEV) and Venezuelan equine encephalitis virus (VEEV) viruses are zoonotic pathogens affecting humans, particularly equines. These neuroarboviruses compromise the central nervous system and can be fatal in different hosts. Both have significantly influenced Colombia; however, few studies analyse its behaviour, and none develop maps using geographic information systems to characterise it. Objective: To describe the temporal-spatial distribution of those viruses in Colombia between 2008 and 2019. Methods: Retrospective cross-sectional descriptive study, based on weekly reports by municipalities of the ICA, of the surveillance of both arboviruses in equines, in Colombia, from 2008 to 2019. The data were converted into databases in Microsoft Access 365®, and multiple epidemiological maps were generated with the Kosmo RC1®3.0 software coupled to shape files of all municipalities in the country. Results: In the study period, 96 cases of EEE and 70 of VEE were reported, with 58% of EEE cases occurring in 2016 and 20% of EEV cases in 2013. The most affected municipalities for EEE corresponded to the department of Casanare: Yopal (20), Aguazul (16), and Tauramena (10). In total, 40 municipalities in the country reported ≥1 case of EEE. Conclusions: The maps allow a quick appreciation of groups of neighbouring municipalities in different departments (1° political division) and regions of the country affected by those viruses, which helps consider the expansion of the disease associated with mobility and transport of equines between other municipalities, also including international borders, such as is the case with Venezuela. In that country, especially for EEV, municipalities in the department of Cesar are bordering and at risk for that arboviral infection. there is a high risk of equine encephalitis outbreaks, especially for VEE. This poses a risk also, for municipalities in the department of Cesar, bordering with Venezuela.

La investigación tuvo como objetivo explorar el efecto de la motivación y de la Ansiedad Estado Competitiva (AEC) sobre el rendimiento deportivo de ocho mujeres pertenecientes al equipo representativo de fútbol sala de la Fundación Universitaria Católica Lumen Gentium (Unicatólica) ubicada en Cali, Colombia. Se interpretó, desde los postulados de la psicología del deporte, la motivación y la ansiedad estado en situación de competencia. Se caracterizó la AEC en las futbolistas empleando el Competitive State Anxiety Inventory en su versión II revisada (CSAI-2R) registrando un nivel mínimo de 7 y máximo de 23 en ansiedad somática, (Muy bajo-Medio), la ansiedad cognitiva puntuó entre 5 y 15 (Muy bajo-Bajo); Se estableció el nivel de motivación a partir de la Escala de Motivación en el Deporte (EMD) entre 75 y 85 (Alto-Muy alto) en motivación intrínseca, de 24 a 82 (Bajo-Muy alto) en motivación extrínseca; se analizaron los efectos sobre el rendimiento deportivo del equipo utilizando una Planilla de registro del Rendimiento Deportivo. La metodología utilizada fue exploratoria, proponiendo determinar las características de las deportistas seleccionadas por un muestreo no probabilístico con un tipo de estudio no experimental y descriptivo desde un diseño hipotético deductivo. Se halló que la motivación y la AEC inciden en el rendimiento deportivo, se pudo concluir que las deportistas construyen habilidades para obtener resultados positivos en el campo, como el mantenimiento del foco motivacional bajo la presión de la competencia y el aprovechamiento de las destrezas individuales para conseguir un óptimo rendimiento del equipo.

Results are presented for full-field transmission X-ray microscopy (TXM) acquired at different energy bandwidths; the trade-offs in achievable resolution and acquisition speed are discussed., Full-field transmission X-ray microscopy (TXM) is a very potent high-resolution X-ray imaging technique. However, it is challenging to achieve fast acquisitions because of the limited efficiency of the optics. Using a broader energy bandwidth, for example using a multilayer monochromator, directly increases the flux in the experiment. The advantage of more counts needs to be weighed against a deterioration in achievable resolution because focusing optics show chromatic aberrations. This study presents theoretical considerations of how much the resolution is affected by an increase in bandwidth as well as measurements at different energy bandwidths (ΔE/E = 0.013%, 0.27%, 0.63%) and the impact on achievable resolution. It is shown that using a multilayer monochromator instead of a classical silicon double-crystal monochromator can increase the flux by an order of magnitude with only a limited effect on the resolution.

La geología ecuatoriana presenta afloramientos de zeolita natural, este mineral precioso se forma por los procesos volcanosedimentarios de muchos años y tienen propiedades excepcionales. Este trabajo presenta una investigación documental y de campo que permitió realizar un catastro que contiene información de 21 secciones donde se encuentran zeolitas naturales y mediante ArcGIS se realizó un mapa georeferenciado, ubicando estas secciones en la parte de la cordillera Chongón-Colonche que atraviesa la provincia del Guayas. En la parte norte de la cordillera por su geografía y accesibilidad se encuentran 15 secciones y en la parte sur encuentran las otras 6 secciones. Lo relevante es que solo 8 secciones se mantiene explotando zeolitas para aplicaciones reducidas al sector agrícola, ganadero y camaronero. Adicionalmente, a dos muestras de zeolita (ZC y ZR) extraída en roca en la sección ZN1, se realiza una caracterización geométrica mediante reducción de tamaño en la MAA y MTB, determinando que ZR presenta mayor dureza con respecto a ZC, y obteniendo mater fino para proyectos futuros sobre MCS.

El presente estudio tuvo como objetivo analizar comparativamente la dieta alimentaria de familias del sector urbano y rural de los cantones Ambato y Píllaro, respectivamente, mediante la aplicación de indicadores de alimentación saludable. La población de estudio para la zona rural fue de 56 agricultores de las parroquias que conforman parte del proyecto de Escuelas Agroecológicas, en el cantón Píllaro, mientras que para la zona urbana se estableció una población de 220 individuos mayores de edad residentes en Ambato. Los resultados alcanzados indican la composición de una dieta diversa de alimentos, especialmente frutas, verduras y hortalizas. Por otra parte, en la zona urbana, productos como arroz, azúcar y pan presentan frecuencias de ingesta de cuatro o más veces por semana. El conocimiento sobre agroecología por parte de los pobladores rurales representa 71%, mientras que 75% de los individuos de la zona urbana afirman conocer y tener predisposición al consumo de productos orgánicos. Finalmente, el índice de alimentación saludable indica que la población urbana necesita cambios en la dieta al haber alcanzado una puntuación de 45,5, mientras que la alimentación de los agricultores, calificación, calificada con 79,5, se perfila como saludable.

Introducción: Los actuales hábitos de vida, han provocado un aumento de las actividades sedentarias y una disminución de la actividad física, lo que puede conllevar a unas afectaciones negativas de la salud desde la población infantil, hasta la población adulta. Es por eso que, el presente estudio investigativo busca comprender la problemática escolar en temas relacionados con el nivel de actividad física, el número de horas de sueño y la fuerza prensil. Objetivo: Identificar la relación entre la cantidad de sueño, el nivel de actividad física y la fuerza prensil en escolares de una institución educativa distrital. Métodos: Se realizó un estudio transversal analítico con una población de 178 escolares, (n=104, 61% niñas, n=74, 39% hombres), comprendidos en un grupo etario de 8 a 12 años, pertenecientes al colegio distrital Manuel Cepeda Vargas. Las variables como cantidad de horas de sueño, nivel de actividad física y fuerza prensil fueron recogidas a través del cuestionario PAQ-C y el test de fuerza prensil. Resultados: Se encontró una correlación positiva entre las variables de actividad física y horas de sueño, mientras que en la fuerza prensil se encontró una correlación negativa a partir de la correlación de Pearson. De igual manera se encontró que 47 jóvenes de 178 se encuentran en categorías como bajo peso y sobrepeso. Por su parte se encuentra que la media del PAQ-C es de 2,41 en una escala de 1 a 5, lo que reporta un bajo nivel de actividad física en los participantes del estudio. Conclusión: Se encuentra relación entre las variables en mención a partir del análisis de correlación de Pearson, lo que indica que, a mayor hora de sueño, actividad física y la fuerza prensil media, se ve afectada positivamente. That is why, the present research study seeks to understand school problems in issues related to the level of physical activity, the number of hours of sleep and prehensile strength. Objective: To identify the relationship between the amount of sleep, the level of physical activity and the prehensile strength in schoolchildren of a district educational institution. Methods: A positive correlation was found between the variables of physical activity and hours of sleep, while a negative correlation was found for grip strength based on Pearson's correlation. Similarly, it was found that 47 young people out of 178 are in categories such as underweight and overweight. For its part, it is found that the mean of the PAQ-C is 2.41 on a scale of 1 to 5, which reports a low level of physical activity in the study participants. For its part, it is found that the mean of the PAQ-C is 2.41 on a scale of 1 to 5, which reports a low level of physical activity in the study participants. Conclusion: A relationship is found between the variables in question from Pearson's connection analysis, which indicates that the greater the physical activity, the number of hours of sleep is positively affected. This paper asks both whether it is possible to identify a clear shape or trajectory to human history as a whole and what significance or meaning we can attach to such a trajectory. It will argue that modern historical research within many different disciplines does indeed allow us to identify some striking shapes to the history of our species. It will also argue that those shapes are full of meaning for understanding the nature and significance of our strange species. Asset pricing literature has broadly found mixed evidence regarding the investment performance of portfolios that consider environmental, social and governance (ESG) dimensions in their decision-making. However, many scholars find that ESG-integrated portfolios exhibit returns that conventional asset pricing models cannot fully explain. This study aims at exploring the relationship between ESG and investment performance further. First, the paper seeks to contribute to the mixed evidence by conducting its own investigation of abnormal returns, focusing specifically on ESG-integrated exchange-traded funds (ETFs). Second, it seeks to understand how the behavioural phenomenon of pluralistic ignorance affects retail investors' decision-making around ESG investing. The central hypothesis is that pluralistic ignorance could lead investors to conform to behaviour they privately disagree with - consistent with social norms theory - which ultimately influences their propensity to consider ESG dimensions when investing. This could potentially explain part of the abnormal returns seen with ESG-integrated portfolios. The study is done as part of the assessed dissertation for the MSc in Sustainability, Enterprise and the Environment and the University of Oxford. The patterning of x-ray grating surfaces by electron-beam lithography offers large flexibility to realize complex optical functionalities. Here, we report on a proof-of-principle experiment to demonstrate the correction of slope errors of the substrates by modulating the local density of the grating lines. A surface error map of a test substrate was determined by optical metrology and served as the basis for an aligned exposure of a corrected grating pattern made by electron-beam lithography. The correction is done by a variation of the local line density in order to compensate for the local surface error. Measurements with synchrotron radiation and simulations in the soft X-ray range confirm that the effects of slope errors were strongly reduced over an extended wavelength range.

La diabetes tipo II es la más frecuente en adultos mayores a nivel mundial, afectando del 2 al 3% de la sociedad. Las personas con diabetes pueden producir cantidades insuficientes de células y moléculas que favorecen la cicatrización. El torus mandibular es una patología benigna que afecta al 5% de la población mundial, es asintomática pero representa complicaciones en pacientes que requieren prótesis, por lo que se recomienda una cirugía por indicación protésica. La presente investigación propone un método nuetrosófico multicriterio para recomendar tratamiento protésico en pacientes con diabetes tipo II y torus mandibular. Se aplica una metodológica descriptiva, observacional, de corte transversal. Se obtiene como resultado el índice de recomendación para el tratamiento y se discuten las principales tendencia sobre el tratamiento relacionado con el cuadro clínico.&nbsp

La rizólisis es el desgaste patológico de la raíz dental a causa de un agente traumático, en este caso el movimiento ortodóntico, es uno de los efectos secundarios más comunes que el ortodoncista teme que suceda dentro de sus tratamientos, siendo los principales factores el tipo, la calidad y la dirección de fuerza aplicada a un diente en desarrollo. La ortodoncia en pacientes en dentición mixta es una preocupación del ortodoncista en saber si lo debe realizar o no, tomando en cuenta los ápices abiertos y la inmadurez en su desarrollo, siendo el objetivo de este tratamiento eliminar un trauma oclusal o simplemente un problema estético. A pesar de que se ha comprobado que los tratamientos a esta edad son más eficaces en ciertas situaciones bien diagnosticadas. Se ha demostrado que las cargas leves y movimientos constantes puedes controlar los efectos secundarios de los tratamientos. La presente investigación tiene como objetivo desarrollar un sistema de recomendaciones para el manejo ortodóntico de paciente con apicoformación incompleta.

The methodology used in the high-level professional article has a qualitative and quantitative approach, having a descriptive - correlational scope considering the relationship of the proposed variables; Internal Communication and Organizational Climate. With the development of the investigation, it was known that there are shortcomings in internal communication, which negatively affects the organizational climate of this institution, for which the training of the institution's employees was established as a proposal, which goes in benefit of improving the organizational climate every day through internal communication. Para lograr el efectivo desarrollo se recurrió a diferentes fuentes investigativas, que permitió cumplir con el objetivo: Analizar la incidencia de comunicación interna en el clima organizacional de los empleados del Servicio Nacional de Atención Integral a Personas Adultas Privadas de la Libertad y a Adolescentes Infractores (SNAI) del Centro de Rehabilitación Social Masculino Manabí Nº 3 del cantón Sucre, Manabí; tomando en cuenta el personal que labora en esta institución, quienes fueron factores claves para la obtención de la información necesaria, también fundamentados en análisis de documentos institucionales. La metodología utilizada en el artículo profesional de alto nivel tiene un enfoque cualitativo y cuantitativo, teniendo un alcance descriptivo – correlacional considerando la relación de las variables propuestas; Comunicación Interna y Clima Organizacional. Hard X-ray nanotomography is a commonly used tool in many research areas such as material science, biology and medicine. The nanotomography station at the P05 imaging beamline at PETRA III at DESY is operated by the Helmholtz-Zentrum Hereon and optimized for full-field X-ray nanoimaging techniques. It offers spatial resolutions down to below 50 nm, as well as a high temporal resolution. The technical design allows for a high flexibility and is optimized for in situ experiments. The two major full-field techniques offered to the user community are transmission X-ray microscopy with optionally Zernike phase contrast and near-field holography. Here, the different full-field nanoimaging techniques, as well as the latest technical developments are presented.

BackgroundScavenger receptors (SR) Stabilin-1 (Stab1) and Stabilin-2 (Stab2) are preferentially expressed by liver sinusoidal endothelial cells. They mediate the clearance of circulating plasma molecules controlling distant organ homeostasis. Studies suggest that Stab1 and Stab2 may impact atherosclerosis. Although subsets of tissue macrophages also express Stab1, hematopoietic Stab1 deficiency does not modulate atherogenesis. Here, we comprehensively studied how targeting Stab1 and Stab2 affects atherosclerosis.MethodsApoE-KO mice were interbred with Stab1-KO and Stab2-KO mice and fed a Western diet (WD). For antibody targeting, Ldlr-KO mice were also used. Unbiased plasma proteomics were performed and independently confirmed. Ligand binding studies comprised GST-pull down and endocytosis assays. Plasma proteome effects on monocytes were studied by single cell RNA sequencing in vivo, and by gene expression analyses of Stabilin-ligand-stimulated and plasma-stimulated bone marrow-derived monocytes/macrophages (BMDM) in-vitro.ResultsSpontaneous and WD-associated atherogenesis was significantly reduced in ApoE-Stab1- and ApoE-Stab2-KO. Similarly, inhibition of Stab1 or Stab2 by monoclonal antibodies (mAB) significantly reduced WD-associated atherosclerosis in ApoE-KO and Ldlr-KO. While neither plasma lipid levels nor circulating immune cell numbers were decisively altered, plasma proteomics revealed a switch in the plasma proteome, consisting of 231 dysregulated proteins comparing Wildtype with Stab1/2 single and Stab1/2-double KO, and of 41 proteins comparing ApoE-, ApoE-Stab1- and ApoE-Stab2-KO. Among this broad spectrum of common, but also disparate SR ligand candidates, Periostin, Reelin and TGFBi, known to modulate atherosclerosis, were independently confirmed as novel circulating ligands of Stab1/2. scRNA-Seq of circulating myeloid cells of ApoE-, ApoE-Stab1- and ApoE-Stab2-KO showed transcriptomic alterations in patrolling (Ccr2-/Cx3cr1++/Ly6Clo) and inflammatory (Ccr2+/Cx3cr1+/Ly6Chi) monocytes including downregulation of pro-atherogenic transcription factor Egr1. In Wildtype BMDM, ligand exposure alone did not alter Egr1 expression in-vitro. However, exposure to plasma from ApoE-Stab1- and ApoE-Stab2-KO mice showed a reverted pro-atherogenic macrophage activation as compared to ApoE-KO plasma including downregulation of Egr1 in-vitro.ConclusionsInhibition of Stab1/Stab2 mediates an anti-inflammatory switch in the plasma proteome including direct Stabilin ligands. The altered plasma proteome suppresses both patrolling and inflammatory monocytes and, thus, systemically protects against atherogenesis. Altogether, anti-Stab1- and anti-Stab2-targeted therapies provide a novel approach for the future treatment of atherosclerosis.Clinical Perspective1)What is new?-Inhibition of evolutionary conserved class H scavenger receptors Stabilin-1 and Stabilin-2 reduces aortic plaque burden in preclinical models.-Atheroprotection is mediated likely through downregulation on transcriptional factor Egr1 in monocytes by multifaceted plasma protein changes.-Transforming growth factor, beta-induced (TGFBi), Periostin (POSTN) and Reelin (Reln) are novel ligands of Stabilin-1 and Stabilin-2 and are implicated in atherosclerosis development.2)What are the clinical implications?-Monoclonal anti-Stab1- and anti-Stab2 antibodies provide a novel approach for the future treatment of atherosclerosis.-In the future, the plasma proteome composition may serve as a predictive factor, biomarker or surrogate parameter for cardiovascular disease in patients.

Esta investigación surge con el objetivo de establecer cómo la ausencia de graduación y discrecionalidad en la aplicación de sanciones administrativas determina una infracción administrativa en el marco de la Ley N° 28008 – Ley de los Delitos Aduaneros. En consecuencia, se estudiarán los criterios y las presunciones de graduación y discrecionalidad en la aplicación de sanciones por infracciones administrativas aplicables de acuerdo con la Ley N° 28008 - Ley de los Delitos Aduaneros y la Ley General de Aduanas. Asimismo, se pretende plantear los criterios de graduación en el ejercicio de facultades discrecionales por medio de presunciones razonables y verificables en los actos de los administrados. Nos enfocaremos en los casos más destacados referentes a la aplicación de sanciones ante infracciones previstas en la Ley General de Aduanas y la Ley de los Delitos Aduaneros. Considerando lo manifestado, cabe resaltar que la graduación y discrecionalidad en la aplicación de sanciones administrativas está sujeta a la Ley General de Aduanas (LGA), que mantiene regímenes de graduación y reglas para aplicar las sanciones reguladas ante una infracción administrativa de dicha ley, mientras que las infracciones relacionadas con la Ley de Delitos los Aduaneros no se someten a normas o disposiciones similares para aplicar una graduación o discrecionalidad.

Diffraction-limited hard X-ray optics are key components for high-resolution microscopy, in particular for upcoming synchrotron radiation sources with ultra-low emittance. Diffractive optics like multilayer Laue lenses (MLL) have the potential to reach unprecedented numerical apertures (NA) when used in a crossed geometry of two one-dimensionally focusing lenses. However, minuscule fluctuations in the manufacturing process and technical limitations for high NA X-ray lenses can prevent a diffraction-limited performance. We present a method to overcome these challenges with a tailor-made refractive phase plate. With at-wavelength metrology and a rapid prototyping approach we demonstrate aberration correction for a crossed pair of MLL, improving the Strehl ratio from 0.41(2) to 0.81(4) at a numerical aperture of 3.3 × 10

Perennial ryegrass is a forage commonly used in temperate regions for livestock feeding; however, its yield is affected by reduced biomass production under water deficit. In a previous study, three co-inoculations of beneficial bacteria were selected based on their ability to promote plant growth under reduced water availability. The aim of this work was to elucidate some mechanisms by which the selected bacteria can help improve the response of perennial ryegrass to water deficit. Ryegrass plants were inoculated with each of the co-inoculations (Herbaspirillum sp. AP02–Herbaspirillum sp. AP21; Herbaspirillum sp. AP02–Pseudomonas sp. N7; Herbaspirillum sp. AP21–Azospirillum brasilense D7) and subjected to water deficit for 10 days. Physiological and biochemical measurements were taken 10 days after stress and shortly after rehydration. The results showed that bacteria had a positive effect on shoot biomass production, dissipation of excess energy, and proline and chlorophyll pigments during the days of water deficit (p < 0.05). The leaf water status of the inoculated plants was 12% higher than that of the uninoculated control after rehydration. Two Herbaspirillum strains showed greater potential for use as biofertilizers that help ameliorate the effects of water deficit.

El trabajo analiza el impacto de la pandemia del COVID-19 en la Odontología, reconociendo la importancia de la actualización, la capacitación y la educación profesional constante de los especialistas de esta rama, que es la encargada de llevar todo tipo de tratamientos relacionados con enfermedades bucodentales. Para el trabajo se utilizó un enfoque cualitativo en una investigación de tipo retrospectiva-explicativa para revelar el impacto del COVID-19 en la odontología como profesión.

La enfermedad provocada por el virus SARS-CoV-2 se dio a conocer en primera instancia en la ciudad de Wuhan-China, misma que en la actualidad es conocida como COVID-19. Esta terrible enfermedad ataca directamente al sistema respiratorio. A consecuencia de esta afección, se originó una pandemia que se propagó rapidamente por todo el mundo trayendo consigo un quiebre al ámbito laboral con repercusiones en el área de la odontología. Se evidenciaron aspectos a partir de los cuales emergen nuevas necesidades capacitación del odontólogo para su nuevo rol profesional, a partir de la urgencia de adoptar nuevos lineamientos de bioseguridad para preservar la salud del personal asistencial y de los pacientes.

El presente proyecto técnico se localiza en la Parroquia Rural de Atahualpa Habaspamba, Cantón Quito, provincia de Pichincha con una longitud de 1.88 km respectivamente. El objetivo principal de la propuesta de mejoramiento vial de la Vía Aloguincho - Atahualpa es permitir la conectividad vial entre Atahualpa Habaspamba y el barrio Aloguincho mediante el diseño vial funcional, seguro y óptimo. Se realizaron los estudios de campo y gabinete, los cuales permitieron realizar los diseños geométricos de la vía, el diseño estructural para pavimento articulado, el diseño hidráulico, estudio de impacto ambiental y la señalización vial. Los diseños poseen sus respectivas justificaciones asimismo garantizan la vida útil para un periodo de 20 años. De acuerdo con el análisis económico se establecieron los indicadores financieros V.A.N., T.I.R. también la relación beneficio – costo con lo que se infirió la viabilidad del proyecto. Con el desarrollo del proyecto se contribuirá al desarrollo socio económico, la disminución de tiempos de transporte, reducción de costos de mantenimiento y operación vehicular de los sectores reconocidos por su actividad agrícola y ganadera. This technical project is located in the rural parish of Atahualpa Habaspamba, Quito, Pichincha province, with a length of 1.88 km. The main objective of the road improvement proposal for the route Aloguincho-Atahualpa is to allow road connectivity between Atahualpa Habaspamba and the Aloguincho neighborhood through functional, safe, and optimal road design. Field and office studies were executed, which allowed for the geometric design of the road, the structural design for articulated pavement, the hydraulic design, the environmental impact study, and the road signs. The designs have their respective justifications, and they also guarantee the useful life for a period of 20 years. According to the financial analysis, the financial indicators NPV, IRR and the benefit-cost relationship were established, with which the viability of the project was inferred. With the development of the project, it will contribute to the socio-economic development, the reduction of transport times, the reduction of maintenance costs, and vehicle operation of the sectors recognized for their agricultural and livestock activity.

La producción agrícola puede considerarse como la columna vertebral del comercio en Manabí. Más del 60% de los trabajadores rurales laboran en el sector agrícola. La agricultura se refiere al cultivo de la tierra y la cría de animales y plantas para proporcionar alimentos, plantas medicinales con fibra y otros productos para sustentar la calidad de vida. El rol del sector agrícola varía considerablemente cuando la urbanización y la migración laboral en la economía están invitando a mayores oportunidades para que los trabajadores agrícolas sostengan los niveles de producción, enfatizando así la transformación del sector de mano de productores agrícolas y agro-emprendedores. La materia prima generada por Jipijapa se concentra en gran medida en los productos agrícolas como maíz, naranja, café, yuca, y en un segundo orden banano, arroz, maní entre otros. En adición a esto, productos como la ganadería, avicultura y pesca también están aportando de forma significativa a la economía local de manera creciente. Bajo esta premisa, la presente investigación tiene la intención de discernir en las estrategias de marketing más óptimas para fomentar la productividad en las bodegas comerciales del cantón Jipijapa. Background One of the constraints in containing the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in Ecuador is limited testing capacity, especially in high-risk populations such as people living in humanitarian shelters. Objectives The “United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees” office in Ecuador in collaboration with “Universidad de Las Americas” performed surveillance screening at shelters for women victims of gender-based violence. They had been granted access to RT-qPCR tests for SARS-CoV-2 diagnosis since July 2020, a few weeks after the general population lockdown was lifted. Results From 411 people tested, 52 tests were SARS-CoV-2 positive, yielding an overall high attack rate of 12.65%. Moreover, COVID-19 outbreaks were found in nine of 11 shelters that were included in the study. While attacks rates varied among shelters, no association was found with occupancy. Conclusion This study is key to clarifying the epidemiological situation in this highly vulnerable population in Latin America. It highlights the importance of mass testing beyond the symptomatic population to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
