Im Mittelpunkt der vorliegenden Arbeit steht die oberflächenanalytische Charakterisierung von organischen Mono- und Multischichten auf Goldsubstraten, welche u. a. aus Makrocyclen oder Rotaxanen aufgebaut sind bzw. dafür entwickelt wurden, solche Moleküle zu binden. Zwei Verfahren zur Fixierung dieser organischen Moleküle an den Endgruppen verschieden konstituierter Thiolat-SAMs (selbstassoziierter Monolagen) auf Goldsubstraten wurden realisiert: Durch Komplexbildung mit Pd(II)-, Fe(II)- oder Zn(II)-Ionen wurden die Terpyridyl- bzw. Pyridyl-Endgruppen an den SAMs und an den makrocyclischen Liganden miteinander verbrückt. Beim zweiten Verfahren erfolgte die Fixierung verschieden substituierter z. T. makrocyclischer Alkine kovalent an eine Azid- terminierte SAM durch eine Cu(I)-katalysierte 1,3-dipolare Cycloaddition. Mittels Röntgenphotoelektronen-Spektroskopie (XPS), kantennaher Röntgenabsorptionsfeinstruktur-Spektroskopie (NEXAFS-Spektroskopie) und Flugzeit-Sekundärionen-Massenspektrometrie (ToF-SIMS) sind diese organischen Schichtsysteme charakterisiert und die folgenden Teilergebnisse erzielt worden: • Die erfolgreiche Bildung der SAM-Metall(II)-Komplexe bzw. der SAM- Metall(II)-Makrocyclen- komplexe wurde sowohl durch die Spektroskopie der Ligand-N-Donoratome (XPS, NEXAFS) als auch der Metall(II)-Zentralionen (XPS) verifiziert. Die ToF-SIMS-Analysen an SAM-Pd(II)-Komplexen konnten diese Ergebnisse erhärten. • Mittels N K-NEXAFS-Spektroskopie gelang – gestützt durch ein DFT-simuliertes N K-NEXAFS-Spektrum – der Nachweis des 1,2,3-Triazolheterocyclus, dem Reaktionsprodukt der 1,3-dipolaren Cycloaddition. • Die auf den SAMs fixierten z. T. makrocyclischen Moleküle waren anhand von Ether-, Amid-, Aromat- und Iod-Markergruppen qualitativ sehr gut durch NEXAFS und XPS identifizierbar. • Die SAMs sowie die auf ihnen fixierten Moleküle lagen vorzugsorientiert im Schichtverband vor, was durch winkelaufgelöste NEXAFS-Spektroskopie nachgewiesen werden konnte. • Die Degradationseffekte auf das AuS-Interface und das Kohlenstoffgerüst der SAMs, hervorgerufen durch die Koordinationsreaktion und die Cycloaddition, waren gering. • Mit einem Layer-by-Layer-Verfahren gelang unter Ausnutzung der Koordinationschemie die kontrollierte Herstellung eines Multischichtsystems, welches alternierend aus Fe(II)-Ionen und makrocyclischen Liganden aufgebaut wurde. Der Schichtdickenzuwachs pro Makrocyclenabscheidungsschritt war konstant und die Makrocyclen lagen vorzugsorientiert im Multischichtverband vor. • Das komplexe N K-NEXAFS-Spektrum eines organischen Azids konnte erstmalig mit Hilfe ei-nes DFT-simulierten Spektrums interpretiert und die π*-Hauptresonanzen eindeutig den drei N-Atomen innerhalb der Azidgruppe zugeordnet werden., This thesis is focused on the surface analytical characterization of organic mono- and multilayers on gold substrates composed of macrocycles or rotaxanes and layers developed to immobilize those molecules. Two procedures for molecule immobilizations at the terminal functionalities of differently constituted thiolate SAMs (self-assembled monolayers) were realized successfully: Terminal terpyridyl- or pyridyl-groups of SAMs and macrocyclic ligands were linked by complex formation using Pd(II)-, Fe(II)- or Zn(II)-ions. The second procedure was applied for covalent fixation of (macrocyclic) alkynes on an azide-terminated SAM via Cu(I)-catalyzed 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition. The organic layer systems were characterized by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), near edge X-ray absorption fine structure spectroscopy (NEXAFS spectroscopy) and time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectrometry. The following results were obtained: • Evidence for “SAM- metal(II)” and “SAM-metal(II)-macrocycle” complex formation was achieved by the spectroscopy of N-donor atoms (XPS, NEXAFS) and metal(II)-ions (XPS). ToF- SIMS measurements of SAM-Pd(II) complexes corroborated these results. • Measurements and DFT-simulations of N K-NEXAFS-spectra confirmed the presence of 1,2,3-triazol heterocycle as a product of 1,3-dipolar cycloadditions. • The (macrocyclic) molecules fixed on the SAMs were identified by aromatic-, amide-, ether- and iodine-marker groups using NEXAFS- and XP-spectroscopy. • The SAMs and the immobilized molecules on the SAMs within the layer assemblies were preferentially orientied as determined by angle resolved NEXAFS- spectroscopy. • Minor degradation effects towards AuS-interface and carbon backbone of the SAMs caused by coordination reaction and cycloaddition were found. • The controlled layer-by-layer assembly of alternating macrocycle and Fe(II)-ion multilayer system was achieved by coordination chemistry. The growth of the layer thickness per mac-rocycle deposition step was constant and a preferential orientation of the macrocyclic lig-ands within the layer stack was observed. • DFT-simulations enabled an interpretation of the experimental N K-NEXAFS-spectra of an organic azide. The specific π*-resonances were assigned to individual nitrogen atoms within the azide moiety.
