L’épidémie de Covid-19 se transmet par les voies respiratoires. Ce mode de transmission dépend essentiellement des relations sociales entre individus, par opposition aux épidémies dont l’élément pathogène est transmis à longue distance, comme par exemple par l’eau. Après un bref résumé des différents types de modèles utilisés jusqu’à présent pour comprendre cette épidémie, nous présentons un nouveau modèle basé sur la théorie de la percolation. Il permet d’intégrer de façon naturelle les trois caractéristiques des relations sociales, pertinentes pour la propagation de l’épidémie : leur densité, leur intensité et leur variété. Quelques résultats sur la modélisation de l’évolution de l’épidémie de Covid-19 en France depuis ses débuts sont présentés.

International audience; Abstract We develop a site-bond percolation model, called PERCOVID , in order to describe the time evolution of all epidemics propagating through respiratory tract or by skin contacts in human populations. This model is based on a network of social relationships representing interconnected households experiencing governmental non-pharmaceutical interventions. As a very first testing ground, we apply our model to the understanding of the dynamics of the COVID-19 pandemic in France from December 2019 up to December 2021. Our model shows the impact of lockdowns and curfews, as well as the influence of the progressive vaccination campaign in order to keep COVID-19 pandemic under the percolation threshold. We illustrate the role played by social interactions by comparing two typical scenarios with low or high strengths of social relationships as compared to France during the first wave in March 2020. We investigate finally the role played by the α and δ variants in the evolution of the epidemic in France till autumn 2021, paying particular attention to the essential role played by the vaccination. Our model predicts that the rise of the epidemic observed in July and August 2021 would not result in a new major epidemic wave in France.

This protocol, organized in three phases, addresses in the first global health with the tool "e.Photoexpression © ," in the second questions and knowledge around the topic of cancer with the tool "QC" and in the third cancer again with the "Photonarration" tool. The methodology of this innovative, open and exploratory research protocol aims to collect data relating to the experiences, declared practices and knowledge specific to each child who express themselves through photography and storytelling. Results: The analysis of the Déterm'Ados methodology reveals a density and richness of results among all the children interviewed, even among the youngest: 1,498 productions (4 productions per child) were made by 381 children resulting in a wealth of data available thanks to the multiphase protocol. This massive qualitative survey brings complementarity as the collection phases progress and guarantees continuity in the discourse of each child which allows them to deepen their conceptions and to know how they create or not meaning between the determinants of health and cancer. Perspectives: The density and quality of the proposals collected from the children reinforce the validity and rigor of the Determ'Ados methodology. Multiphase is the innovative aspect of the tools used. The e.Photoexpression © and the Photonarration are complementary and inseparable to bring out concepts on health and cancer. These research results, transferable into interventions and current practices, present prevention officers to act more effectively, closer to the conceptions and needs of children.

International audience; Objectives To model and analyse conceptions of determinants of health and cancer that are expressed and perceived by school children aged 6–11 based on a multiphase qualitative protocol. Methodology This is a multicentric, qualitative study of human and social sciences conducted among school children aged 6–11 years old. Two different tools were used, e.Photoexpression and Photonarration, in four French schools. This innovative and exploratory method addresses global health during the first phase (e.Photoexpression) and the theme of cancer during the second phase (Photonarration). The children express themselves through photography and narration. Results 1498 qualitative productions were made by 381 children aged 6–11 years old. The analysis of these productions of expression and narration through images allowed modelling of determinants of health and cancer as perceived by children through 7 fields and 28 categories. The conceptions of determinants of health and child cancer refer to rationalities that are centred on individual determinants (76%), minimise environmental determinants (20%) and conceal the parameters of access to healthcare and social services (3%). Discussion These findings provide new data to the international literature on children’s perceptions of determinants of health and cancer. These research findings, which can be applied to interventions and current practices, will enable prevention workers to act more effectively, closer to children’s perceptions and needs.

La Tesla Model S, son premier véhicule phare, suscite toujours aujourd'hui l'intérêt et la curiosité des ingénieurs de par l'approche innovante mais aussi les secrets technologiques du constructeur, notamment autour de l'utilisation d'un moteur asynchrone dans une voiture électrique de grande série. L'objectif de cet article est donc d'étudier les caractéristiques de la machine asynchrone de la Tesla Model S afin d'en proposer une modélisation par éléments finis 2D. Pour cela, les différentes données nécessaires sont rassemblées, complétées et présentées selon leur niveau d'incertitude. Ensuite, un modèle de la machine est réalisé sous le logiciel Altair Flux2D TM. Il est alors validé en s'appuyant sur les performances mesurées ou calculées disponibles dans la littérature.

Dans le cadre de la procédure d’évaluation des substances prévue par le Règlement REACH n°1907/2006 (articles 44 à 48), les États membres de l’Union européenne et des pays de l’Espace économique européen (à savoir la Norvège, l’Islande et le Liechtenstein ) évaluent chaque année les substances jugées prioritaires inscrites au plan d’action continu communautaire (CoRAP), en vue d’évaluer la ou les préoccupation(s) liées au processus defabrication et/ou à l’utilisation de ces substances et qui pourrai(en)t entrainer un risque pour la santé humaine et/ou pour l’environnement. Dans la majorité des cas, ces préoccupations initiales sont liées aux caractéristiques de danger des substances, associées ou renforcées par des caractéristiques d’exposition telles que : usages générant une forte dispersion des substances ou usages directs par les consommateurs.Les États membres peuvent cibler leur évaluation sur la préoccupation initiale, et peuvent aussi élargir leur évaluation à l’ensemble des propriétés de la substance.A l’issue des 12 mois d'évaluation par l’État membre évaluateur deux situations peuvent se présenter : a) des informations supplémentaires peuvent être demandées aux déclarants des substances, si ces données additionnelles sont jugées nécessaires pour lever un doute sur un danger suspecté. Dans ce cas, un projet de décision est discuté au sein du Comité des États-membres (CEM) de l’Agence européenne des produits chimiques (ECHA) ; b) il peut être conclu qu'aucune donnée supplémentaire n'est nécessaire. Solving non-linear optimization problems such as physical component sizing or optimal control of a system is still a challenge. Automatic Differentiation (AD) is a way to provide useful information regarding model local sensitivity and helps algorithm finding minima. AD is not new but has recently found great interest in machine learning community. Methodology : In this paper, we are introducing NoLOAD, a Python open source software that helps designers to associate non-linear models to optimization algorithms with AD. Different AD packages are compared (Autograd / Jax) as well as hardware architectures (CPU / GPU). Findings : Jax package is more performative than Autograd packagefor complex models, although it uses more memory to solve optimization problems. Originality : NoLOAD is easy to use for designers because there is no need to change the simulation model which is totally independent of the specifications. It is also a lightweight library than can be used for embedded hardware optimization

International audience; The objective of this research is to explore the phenomenon of doubt in children aged 6 to 11 by analyzing the questions and knowledge they formulate about cancer. This will make it possible to identify the recurring questions and the uncertainties expressed in order to adapt the methods of cancer prevention. Our methodology was based on a multiphase collection structured around 3 tools: e.Photoexpression ©, "QC" (questions / knowledge) and photo narration. We are more specifically interested here in the QC tool which involves asking children to write down 3 pieces of knowledge and 3 questions about cancer. 774 productions were collected from 387 children, ie 523 knowledge and 741 questions. We observe a lack of knowledge about health and cancer in the children we meet. The results are varied but remain focused on the symptoms or the consequences and ultimately very little on the causes. Their recurring questions, associated with the instability of the knowledge expressed, are consistent with the developmental characteristics of the child. This study provides elements of understanding on how children perceive cancer. This supply of information can contribute to the development of prevention tools intended for young people to improve their level of knowledge and thus help reduce their uncertainties.; L'objectif de cette recherche est d'explorer le phénomène de doute chez des enfants âgés de 6 à 11 ans en analysant les questions et les connaissances qu'ils formulent sur le cancer. Large scale virological testing of SARS-Cov2 is implemented since May 2020 in France. We assume that the positivity of asymptomatic people not being contact cases (ANBC) is representative of the positivity of the whole French population, which allows estimating the real incidence. We estimate, using Sant\'e Public France reports, that the incidence at the beginning of August was about 0.8% and rose to about 2.4% of the total population at the beginning of September. This corresponds to about 1.6 million people simultaneously infected and 230.000 new infections each day. These evaluations allow to deduce that intensive care units (ICU) admission rate and infection fatality rate (IFR) dropped by one order of magnitude since March, and are currently 0.036% and 0.027% respectively. Basic simulations of the outbreak evolution based on the hypothesis of negligible reinfection probability are performed for France, Ile de France, Puy de Dome, Bouches du Rhone and Grand Est. These simulations are using a reproduction rate (R) constant over time ranging from 1.3 to 1.45 (1.15 in Grand Est). They use an estimation of the number of infection which occurred during the first wave. These simulations also use the estimated incidence, which by reducing the susceptible population weeks after weeks induces a saturation of the otherwise exponential growth of the outbreak. An incidence peak of 3.5 % is expected at week 39 for France. The calculated total number of ICU admission and deaths during the second wave are 9000 and 7000 respectively for R=1.3. The cumulative incidence over the two waves is computed close to 60% for R=1.3 and 70% for R=1.4. This suggests that if individual immunity exists, herd immunity is likely to be achieved in France by the end of October 2020. We conclude that Covid-19 is much more spread than previously thought, but its severity became limited since the end of the first wave., Comment: 21 pages, 7 figures

Aim: To identify the determinants of global health in the literature as perceived and expressed by children and adolescents in order to adapt prevention actions to this young audience. To also question the pertinence of a qualitative approach when interviewing children. Method:Systematic review of the literature from PubMed, Google Scholar, CINAHL, PsycINFO databases. The studies selected used qualitative methods alone for investigating the views of health determinants in children and adolescents. Results:185 articles were read to reach a final selection of 13 articles on global health, excluding studies with children who were ill, studies using quantitative, mixed, or retrospective methodologies, and those dealing exclusively with themes of health. Collecting information from children and adolescents showed the pertinence and effectiveness of qualitative methods. It also appears necessary to explore new paths: improving and adapting the tools and methodological supports used and combining them to enrich repositories. Conclusion:The small amount of qualitative data available with the views of children and adolescents on health determinants requires that new studies with better adapted collection methodologies be set up. To increase pertinence and effectiveness among a young audience, it is necessary, considering the methodologies identified during this literature review, to turn toward a multi-phase method that combines these methods. A methodology in several phases allows each one to use a different approach with young people and to obtain richer and more varied information. A corpus of images appeared as a powerful tool for collection: it facilitates children's capacity for oral expression and places the researcher in a position of listening.

Impaired emotional abilities (higher scores of alexithymia and lower levels of emotional awareness) were found in patients with skin-restricted lupus, warranting examination of the relationship between these abilities and the evolution of skin-restricted lupus, using longitudinal data. A total of 75 consecutive outpatients with skin-restricted lupus were recruited and assessed by a dermatologist and a psychiatrist every 6 months over a period of 2.5 years. Alexithymia and emotional awareness were evaluated with the French versions of the Toronto Alexithymia Scale (TAS-20) and the Levels of Emotional Awareness Scale (LEAS). During follow-up, good stability of the LEAS scores was observed, whereas TAS-20 scores varied; those variations were positively associated both with lupus duration and current psychiatric and personality disorders, but not with lupus remission. Such findings regarding 2 complementary aspects of emotional functioning are of direct interest for the management of patients with skin-restricted lupus.

International audience; Introduction: Cancer is defined as a chronic disease, in view of the length of treatment and its repercussions on the life of the child. Therapeutic education could be an essential tool to improve the quality of life of sick children. Objectives: Identify the conceptions of caregivers in pediatric oncohaematology institutions and services on educational actions and the implementation of patient therapeutic education programs. Method: Cross-sectional, multicentre qualitative study based on four semi-structured individual interviews and a focus group. Results: Conceptions of the carers in paediatric oncohaematology establishments and services are based on major themes: conceptions of education linked to care, conceptions of the patient therapeutic education session, conceptions of the specificities linked to paediatrics, conceptions of the resources for setting up a patient therapeutic education programme and conceptions of patient therapeutic education linked to the institution. Discussion: Larger study in order to obtain interviews with all the centres de lutte contre le cancer (CLCC) to better understand the obstacles to the implementation of patient therapeutic education programmes and the actions already in place in order to propose a national strategy to formalise and enhance the actions of the CLCCs.; Introduction : Le cancer est défini comme « maladie chronique », au vu de la longueur des traitements et de ses répercussions sur la vie de l’enfant. L’éducation thérapeutique pourrait s’imposer comme étant un outil incontournable pour améliorer la qualité de vie des enfants malades. Objectifs : Identifier les conceptions des soignants en établissement et service d’oncohématologie pédiatrique sur les actions éducatives et sur la mise en place de programmes d’ETP. Méthode : Étude qualitative transversale, multicentrique, fondée sur quatre entretiens individuels semi-structurés et un focus group . Résultats : Les conceptions des soignants en établissement et service d’oncohématologie pédiatrique s’articulent autour de cinq grandes thématiques : les conceptions de l’éducation liées aux soins, les conceptions de la séance d’ETP, les conceptions des spécificités liées à la pédiatrie, les conceptions des ressources à la mise en place de programmes d’ETP et les conceptions de l’ETP liées à l’institution. Discussion : Une étude de plus grande ampleur permettrait d’obtenir des entretiens avec l’ensemble des centres de lutte contre le cancer (CLCC) pour mieux comprendre les freins à la mise en place de programmes labellisés ETP ainsi que les actions déjà en place afin de proposer une stratégie nationale pour formaliser et valoriser les actions des CLCC.

International audience; This paper outlines the importance of the early steps of the design of engineering systems (the socalled preliminary or sketch phase design). If those steps should be probably addressed by anoptimization approach, we suggest an approach much more focused on the feasibility of the formulatedoptimization problem (the so called “Problem Setting Phase”), than on the research of the optimalsolutions (the so called “Problem Solving Phase”), that we propose to address later in the design process.That is why, this paper proposes an approach called “imaginary Machine Design” (IMD). The fundamentalprinciple of IMD is a reformulation of the design problem, initially formulated as a discrete optimizationproblem in a real design space, toward a continuous and differentiable optimization problem in a designspace of “Imaginary Machines”. Besides the synthesis of the concepts, principle and methodology of theapproach, we show the efficiency of this approach for the preliminary design of electromagnetic devicesthanks to an overview of studies and results obtained for static converters, rotating machines and positiveenergy buildings.

La pertinence des hypothèses thermiques choisies pour le dimensionnement d’une machine à flux axial est remise en question dans cet article. En effet, le coefficient d’échange thermique étant plus important dans l’entrefer d’une machine à flux axial que dans celui d’une machine à flux radial, la densité de courant peut de facto être plus importante. Cet article se propose de regarder les gains apportés par des hypothèses adaptées à la machine à flux axial.

International audience; Introduction: Students overestimate alcohol consumption of those around them and underestimate their own, so that quantitative approach may not be the most relevant to assess students' drinking. The main objective was to provide an appropriate tool for screening for students with potential drinking problems.Methods: A multicentre cross-sectional survey was conducted by internet between February and June, 2013 in France. Thirteen questions explored alcohol consumption, including 8 concerning after-effects of drinking episodes (4 items of the AUDIT) and alcohol behaviour (CAGE test). A multiple correspondence analysis (MCA) was conducted to identify profiles of student's alcohol consumption. Partitioning methods were used to group students by mode of alcohol use. The most relevant items included in the MCA were identified. Three questions were identified as most pertinent among the students with potential drinking problems and ranked by a decision tree with the Chi-square Automatic Interaction Detector method. Finally, we assessed the generalisation of the model.Results: A total of 36,427 students participated in the survey: 25,679 were women (70.5% of respondents), sex ratio 0.42 and mean aged 21.2 (sd 3.7 years). Among those who had experimented with alcohol (N = 33,113), three consumption profiles were identified: "simple/non-use" (66.9%), "intermediate consumption" (25.9%) and "problem drinking" (7.2%). For the latter group, the three most relevant items were (Q20) "not able to stop drinking after starting", (Q21) "failed to do what was normally expected", and (Q23) "unable to remember what happened the night before".Conclusions: These results provide healthcare professionals with a 3-item screening tool for students "problem drinking".

The paper focusses on the way to obtained automatically a frequency model, including the exact computation of its jacobian, useful in the context of design by deterministic gradient optimization. It mainly focuses on selectivity (optimization contextualization) in the modelling with its interests compared to a generic modelling (without knowing with variables will be constrained in the optimization process). The approach is applied to the optimization of EMC filter for power electronics aircraft context.

Consequently, embedded electrical machines which are criticalcomponents of a vehicle power system have to be highly efficient and remain at anacceptable cost. In the HEV and EV markets, permanent magnet synchronous machine(PMSM) have now reached a major place thanks to their high torque/powerdensity, their high efficiency and their large constant power speed range capability(Z.Q. Zhu and D. Howe, ”Electrical Machines and Drives for Electric, Hybrid,and Fuel Cell Vehicles” in Proceeding of the IEEE, Vol. 97, No 4, 2007). Axialflux permanent magnet synchronous machines (AFPM) provide high compactnessand high torque capability, due to their particular disc-shaped geometry, and consequentlyappear as a relevant solution for HEV (A. Cavagnino, M. Lazzari, F.Profumo and A. Tenconi. ”A Comparison Between the Axial Flux and the RadialFlux Structures for PM Synchronous Motors”, in IEEE Transactions on IndustryApplications, Vol. 38, No. 6. 2002). However, 3D aspects relative to an axial fluxmachine electromagnetic problem are to be considered for an accurate analysis.Therefore, 3D-FEA is required though their computation is time consuming.For a variable-speed traction application, requirements usually comprise torque/powerversus speed profiles and voltage and current inverter rankings. FEA is then an efficientway to check these requirements and to know better the machine charactericsas well. At this point, it is not obvious to decide which simulation is necessary (e.g.magneto-static or magneto-dynamic application) and what are the interesting valuesto analyse each time. Moreover, it is important to choose a convenient configurationof the simulation and to determine an efficient simulation sequence. This problembecomes even more relevant when several machines are to be compared. In thisperspective, this paper proposes a methodology to deal with 3D-FEA of an AFPMmachine using CEDRAT-Flux3DR commercial software. According to the designrequirements, it is explained the necessity of each simulation, and the sequence inwhich it should be achieved. A particular emphasis on simulation configuration (i.e.meshing and parametric discretization) is provided. Finally, a comparison betweena surface mounted permanent magnet synchronous and an interior permanent magnetsynchronous machine, both axial flux structures, is proposed to illustrate theapproach. Problem definition and solving processes times are given to show howthis methodology can be profitable.

Introduction: French national health programmes take into account social deprivation in their implementation, those targeting perinatal outcomes, especially. The main aim of the present work was to assess the association between individual social deprivation and adverse perinatal outcomes. Â Methods: A multicentre cross-sectional population-based survey was performed between October and December 2007. Eligible women delivered a baby in one of the three maternity hospitals of Clermont-Ferrand area, and read and spoke French fluently. Women who had undergone voluntary termination of pregnancy were excluded. Individual social deprivation was measured by the EPICES score. Standard prenatal follow-up defined by having less than 7 consultations and quality of prenatal care defined by having at least four consultations were measured. Adverse perinatal outcomes were measured by a composite criterion defined by women who had the occurrence of the three main causes of pregnancy-related disorders: preterm delivery, and/or diabetes, and/or obstetrical hypertension. Â Results: Of the 471 eligible women, 464 were finally included. One hundred and fifteen (24.78%) women were socially deprived. The most deprived women had poor standard prenatal follow-up (p=0.003) and poor quality of prenatal care (0.03). Nationality was the sole confounding factor identified. Deprived women had a two-fold greater risk of adverse perinatal outcomes, adjusted odds ratio 1.95 [1.15; 3.29]. Â Discussion: Social deprivation was associated with adverse perinatal outcomes. Social deprivation should be systematically screened in pregnant women standard follow-up, among migrant women, especially., Journal of Preventive Medicine and Hygiene, Vol 56, No 2 (2015)

Les carbures cémentés sont très utilisés dans l’industrie du forage pétrolier et minier, et dans l’usinage en tant que pièces résistantes à l’abrasion et à l’impact. En effet, ces matériaux possèdent un excellent compromis entre dureté et ténacité. Cependant, des conditions de plus en plus sévères, comme le forage profond pour l’industrie pétrolière et haute température pour la géothermie, rendent nécessaire le développement de tels matériaux encore plus performants. Ils doivent être à la fois plus tenaces mais également résister à des usures abrasives toujours plus sévères. Afin d’améliorer ces deux propriétés antagonistes, l’idée la plus simple est de conserver les mêmes constituants dont les propriétés intrinsèques restent intéressantes puis d’introduire dans ce matériau un gradient de composition, i.e. un gradient de phase liante. Dans le domaine des carbures cémentés, l’intérêt de ce concept a été démontré dès les années 70, avant même le foisonnement d’études dix ans après pour les matériaux FGMs (Functionally Graded Materials) impulsé par le Japon. Depuis, de nombreux travaux ont concerné l’élaboration et la caractérisation de tels matériaux FGMs qui dépassent largement le cadre des carbures cémentés mais sont le plus souvent issus de la famille des cermets et des alliages lourds (Heavy alloys). Toutefois, peu de matériaux à gradient de composition ont été industrialisés. Les principales limitations des premiers procédés de gradation des carbures cémentés étaient la formation de structures graduelles sur de trop faibles distances (inférieures au mm), leur mise en oeuvre délicate par certaines techniques issues du frittage conventionnel ou encore la formation de défauts métallurgiques (présence de phases η-M6C) compromettant le bénéfice apporté par la gradation. Les travaux présentés ici concernent le procédé d’imbibition réactive actuellement développé par Armines/Centre des Matériaux Mines-ParisTech et la société Varel Europe qui est l’un des derniers outilleurs français installé près de Tarbes. Ce procédé peut être décomposé en deux procédés de gradation, à savoir : l’imbibition et le revêtement réactif. Le rôle de l’imbibition est d’enrichir graduellement en phase liante et en volume le coeur d’une pièce en carbure cémenté dense. Quant au revêtement réactif, son rôle est de venir durcir graduellement la surface de ce même matériau à l’aide d’une fine précipitation de borures ternaires, aux dépens de la phase liante et des carbures WC, sur également des profondeurs millimétriques. Le procédé d’imbibition réactive décrit ci-dessus est le seul procédé de gradation connu à ce jour permettant de générer des gradients continus de plusieurs centaines de HV sur des dizaines de millimètres. Dans le cas de pièces industrielles (inserts tricône et taillants PDC (Polycrystalline Diamond Compact)), les gradients de dureté obtenus sont de l’ordre de 450 HV sur 25 mm. Ces différentes parties actives des deux principaux outils de forage (tricône et PDC) ont montré une hausse très significative de leurs performances en laboratoire après traitement par imbibition réactive. Leurs résistances à l’abrasion présentent une augmentation de l’ordre de 30 à 100% par rapport à des outils non gradués. De même, leurs résistances à l’impact s’avèrent supérieures en moyenne à 20% mais peuvent être au maximum de 40% pour certaines configurations. Des essais chantiers sont en cours et les premiers résultats sont encourageants.
