With the spread of Data Center Interconnect (DCI) and local 5G, there is a growing need for dynamically established connections between customer locations through high-capacity optical links. However, link parameters such as signal power profile and amplifier gains are often unknown and have to be measured by experts, preventing dynamic path provisioning due to the time-consuming manual measurements. Although several techniques for estimating the unknown parameters of such alien access links have been proposed, no work has presented architecture and protocol that drive the estimation techniques to establish an optical path between the customer locations. Our study aims to automatically connect customer-owned transceivers via alien access links with optimal quality of transmission (QoT). We first propose an architecture and protocol for cooperative optical path design between a customer and carrier, utilizing a state-of-the-art technique for estimating link parameters. We then implement the proposed protocol in a software-defined network (SDN) controller and white-box transponders using an open API. The experiments demonstrate that the optical path is dynamically established via alien access links in 137 seconds from the transceiver's cold start. Herein, a simple and practical method for generating isoacenofuran, a new π-extended quinoidal building block, was developed. A three-step protocol involving double nucleophilic addns. of alkynyllithiums to acene-2,3-dicarbaldehyde, mono-oxidn., and acid-promoted cyclization enables the generation of the target mol., which is trapped by a dienophile to produce highly condensed acenequinones [e.g., treatment of I (derived from the dialdehyde) with TFA in presence of naphthoquinone as trapping agent for the intermediate isoacenofuran afforded endo/exo-II (86%)]. Further transformations by double nucleophilic addns. of alkynyllithium to hexacenequinone, followed by reductive aromatization, produce tetraalkynylhexacenes with a remarkably higher stability than that of the previously reported substituted hexacenes. The effects of low-intensity pulsed ultrasound (LIPUS) on osteoclastogenesis were examined using fish scales that had both osteoclasts and osteoblasts. The binding of the receptor activator of NF-κB ligand (RANKL) in osteoblasts to the receptor activator of NF-κB (RANK) in osteoclasts induced osteoclastogenesis. Therefore, we focused on RANK/RANKL signaling. After 6 h of incubation following LIPUS treatment, mRNA expression of RANKL increased significantly. Resulting from the increased RANKL mRNA level, the expression of transcription-regulating factors significantly increased after 6 h of incubation, and then the mRNA expression of functional genes was significantly up-regulated after 12 h of incubation. However, the mRNA expression of osteoprotegerin (OPG), which is known as an osteoclastogenesis inhibitory factor, also significantly increased after 6 h of incubation and tended to further increase after 12 h of incubation. At 24 h of incubation, osteoclastic functional genes’ mRNA expression decreased to the level of the control. Furthermore, we performed an in vivo experiment with goldfish. Two weeks after daily LIPUS exposure, osteoclastic marker enzymes tended to decrease while osteoblastic marker enzymes were activated. The regeneration rate of the LIPUS-treated scales was significantly higher than that of the control scales. An efficient synthetic route to 5,6,11,12-tetrakis(arylethynyl)tetracenes, new Pi-extended rubrene derivs., was developed by [2+4] cycloaddn. of dialkynylnaphthalyne and dialkynylisobenzofuran. Importantly, two alkynyl groups introduced into the aryne exerts a significant effect in lowering the LUMO energy, allowing practical access to sterically overcrowded polycyclic structures through an efficient HOMO-LUMO interaction. Study on the potential reactivity inherent in the peri-ethynyl-substituted tetracenes revealed several interesting reactivities. X-ray anal. of these new ﾏ�-extended derivs. showed distorted structures to reduce steric repulsion due to the existence of the substituents at the peri-positions. [on SciFinder(R)]

Two bis-C-aminoglycosyl arenes containing the angolosamine and the vancosamine moieties, which are potentially useful as the D-ring fragments of the pluramycin-type antibiotics, were efficiently synthesized by the O→C-glycoside rearrangement based strategy.
