The present study examined mechanisms underlying memory deficits in Parkinson’s disease (PD) and their associations with brain structural metrics. Nineteen PD patients and twenty-two matched controls underwent two memory experiments. In Experiment 1 (delayed memory task), subjects were asked to remember an array of colored rectangles with varying memory set sizes (Low-Load (2 items), Low-Load (relevant 2 items) with Distractor (irrelevant 3 items), and High-Load (5 items)). After a 7 s delay period, they reported whether the orientation of any relevant figures had changed (test period). In Experiment 2 (working memory task), memory arrays were presented in varying set sizes (2 to 6 items) without distractors, followed by a 2 s delay period and a subsequent test period. Brain MRI data were acquired to assess structural differences (volumes and cortical thickness) in areas related to attention, working memory storage capacity, and episodic memory. Multivariate analyses of covariance revealed that, compared with controls, PD patients had lower memory capacity scores in all memory load conditions for Experiment 1 (p < 0.021), whereas there were no group differences in any memory load conditions for Experiment 2 (p > 0.06). In addition, PD patients had lower cortical thickness in the left superior temporal gyrus (p = 0.02), a region related to the ventral attentional system. Moreover, regression analyses revealed that lower cortical thickness values in the left superior temporal gyrus significantly predicted lower memory scores of Low-Load and Low-Load with Distractor conditions in Experiment 1 (p < 0.044) and lower scores of memory load conditions of 4 and 5 items in Experiment 2 (p < 0.012). These findings suggest that memory deficits in PD may partly be due to impaired attentional filtering and memory consolidation processes that may be related to superior temporal neurodegeneration. Future studies are warranted to confirm the current findings to guide the development of effective treatments for memory deficits in PD.

The scalp nerve block, created by injecting local anesthetics around the scalp nerves, is reported to effectively reduce pain after surgery. In this study, we evaluated the efficacy of scalp nerve block in patients with hemifacial spasm (HFS) undergoing microvascular decompression (MVD). Seventy-four patients who underwent MVD for HFS were enrolled. The block group received scalp nerve block with 0.5% ropivacaine before surgery. The primary outcome was cumulative dose of rescue analgesics 24 h postoperatively. The secondary outcomes were included pain scores, postoperative antiemetic consumption, and Quality of Recovery-15 scale. The cumulative dose of rescue analgesics at 24 h postoperatively was not significantly different between the two groups (4.80 ± 3.64 mg vs. 5.92 ± 3.95 mg, p = 0.633). However, the pain score was significantly reduced in the block group at 6, 12, and 24 h postoperatively. Postoperative antiemetic consumption was lower in the block group than the control group at 12 h. There were no significant differences between the two groups for other secondary outcomes. In MVD for HFS, a preoperative scalp nerve block might reduce postoperative pain in the early postoperative period, but a larger study using a multimodal approach is needed to confirm the efficacy of a scalp block.

β-lapachone (β-Lap), a topoisomerase inhibitor, is a naturally occurring ortho-naphthoquinone phytochemical and is involved in drug resistance mechanisms. Oxaliplatin (OxPt) is a commonly used chemotherapeutic drug for metastatic colorectal cancer, and OxPt-induced drug resistance remains to be solved to increase chances of successful therapy. To reveal the novel role of β-Lap associated with OxPt resistance, 5 μM OxPt-resistant HCT116 cells (HCT116-OxPt-R) were generated and characterized via hematoxylin staining, a CCK-8 assay and Western blot analysis. HCT116-OxPt-R cells were shown to have OxPt-specific resistance, increased aggresomes, upregulated p53 and downregulated caspase-9 and XIAP. Through signaling explorer antibody array, nucleophosmin (NPM), CD37, Nkx-2.5, SOD1, H2B, calreticulin, p38 MAPK, caspase-2, cadherin-9, MMP23B, ACOT2, Lys-acetylated proteins, COL3A1, TrkA, MPS-1, CD44, ITGA5, claudin-3, parkin and ACTG2 were identified as OxPt-R-related proteins due to a more than two-fold alteration in protein status. Gene ontology analysis suggested that TrkA, Nkx-2.5 and SOD1 were related to certain aggresomes produced in HCT116-OxPt-R cells. Moreover, β-Lap exerted more cytotoxicity and morphological changes in HCT116-OxPt-R cells than in HCT116 cells through the downregulation of p53, Lys-acetylated proteins, TrkA, p38 MAPK, SOD1, caspase-2, CD44 and NPM. Our results indicate that β-Lap could be used as an alternative drug to overcome the upregulated p53-containing OxPt-R caused by various OxPt-containing chemotherapies.

BackgroundThe balance of stroke risk reduction and potential bleeding risk associated with antithrombotic treatment (ATT) remains unclear in atrial fibrillation (AF) at non-gender CHA2DS2-VASc scores 0–1. A net clinical benefit (NCB) analysis of ATT may guide stroke prevention strategies in AF with non-gender CHA2DS2-VASc scores 0–1.MethodsThis multi-center cohort study evaluated the clinical outcomes of treatment with a single antiplatelet (SAPT), vitamin K antagonist (VKA), and non-VKA oral anticoagulant (NOAC) in non-gender CHA2DS2-VASc score 0–1 and further stratified by biomarker-based ABCD score (Age [≥60 years], B-type natriuretic peptide [BNP] or N-terminal pro-BNP [≥300 pg/mL], creatinine clearance [ResultsWe included 2465 patients (age 56.2 ± 9.5 years; female 27.0%) followed-up for 4.0 ± 2.8 years, of whom 661 (26.8%) were treated with SAPT; 423 (17.2%) with VKA; and 1040 (42.2%) with NOAC. With detailed risk stratification using the ABCD score, NOAC showed a significant positive NCB compared with the other ATTs (SAPT vs. NOAC, NCB 2.01, 95% confidence interval [CI] 0.37–4.66; VKA vs. NOAC, NCB 2.38, 95% CI 0.56–5.40) in ABCD score ≥1. ATT failed to show a positive NCB in patients with truly low stroke risk (ABCD score = 0).ConclusionsIn the Korean AF cohort at non-gender CHA2DS2-VASc scores 0–1, NOAC showed significant NCB advantages over VKA or SAPT with ABCD score ≥1. The potential social harms that large language models pose, such as generating offensive content and reinforcing biases, are steeply rising. Existing works focus on coping with this concern while interacting with ill-intentioned users, such as those who explicitly make hate speech or elicit harmful responses. However, discussions on sensitive issues can become toxic even if the users are well-intentioned. For safer models in such scenarios, we present the Sensitive Questions and Acceptable Response (SQuARe) dataset, a large-scale Korean dataset of 49k sensitive questions with 42k acceptable and 46k non-acceptable responses. The dataset was constructed leveraging HyperCLOVA in a human-in-the-loop manner based on real news headlines. Quality control in the manufacturing industry has improved with the use of artificial intelligence (AI). However, the manual inspection of trimming die designs, which is time-consuming and prone to errors, is still done by engineers. This study introduces an automatic design inspection system for automobile trimming dies by integrating AI modules and computer-aided design (CAD) software. The AI modules replace engineers' judgment, and the CAD software carries out operations requested by the AI modules. The inspection process involves a zigzag interaction between the AI modules and CAD software, enabling one-click operation without expert intervention. The AI modules are CAD-independent and data-efficient, making them adaptable to other CAD software. They achieve high performance even with limited training data, with an average length measurement error of only 2.4%. The inspection time is reduced to approximately one-fifth of the time required for manual inspection by experts.

This paper proposes a modeling structure for the relativistic constitutive equations of inelastic deformation in materials moving at high speeds. While the theory of relativity has successfully approximated material motion in space-time, most existing models only consider elastic behavior, neglecting inelastic deformation. A comprehensive relativistic inelasticity model is necessary to objectively measure inelastic deformation for observers with varying velocities, including those near the speed of light. The proposed model expands classical deformation tensors to four-dimensional tensors in space-time, referred to as relativistic Cauchy-Green deformation tensors. By introducing constitutive equations based on these tensors, objective measurements of inelastic deformation are achieved while satisfying the second law of thermodynamics. An illustrative example demonstrates the application of this theory and explains the physical interpretations of the model. Moreover, it is shown that the proposed relativistic inelasticity model converges to a classical inelasticity model under slower motion compared to the speed of light.

Despite numerous studies on individual charitable donations and cause-related marketing have been conducted, the framing of the donation amount has not been studied. This research suggests that people's intention to donate to charity differs depending on whether the donation amount is framed as all-inclusive or partitioned. The main effect of partitioned framing was moderated by individual differences in the need for cognition and regulatory focus. The results of our research are threefold. First, people responded more positively to engage in prosocial behavior in the partitioned donation amount condition than in the all-inclusive condition, even when the total amounts were the same. Second, the framing effect of the donation amount differed according to the need for cognition. Individuals with a high need for cognition (NFC) had a higher intention to donate in the partitioned donation amount condition than in the all-inclusive condition, while individuals with low NFC did not show differences in either condition. Third, the framing effect of the donation amount differed according to regulatory focus. Prevention-focused individuals were more willing to donate in the partitioned condition than in the all-inclusive condition, while promotion-focused individuals did not show differences in either condition. In addition, the interaction of framing and regulatory focus on donation intention was mediated by the perceived authenticity of the donation organization. This research has several academic and practical implications for effective corporate social responsibility activities.

Loneliness is a major risk factor for morbidity and mortality. However, the effect of loneliness on subsequent prosocial behavior is not well known. Understanding the neurobiological mechanisms underlying loneliness is necessary to address this research gap. We investigate the mechanism using a modified public goods game (PGG) wherein participants can choose to act for a collective or selfish interest after being exposed to loneliness cues. Both behavioral (Study 1) and event-related potential (ERP) (Study 2) measures were used to explore this relationship. In Study 1 (N = 131), we found that participants exhibited decreased prosocial actions under the loneliness priming condition as opposed to the control condition. In Study 2 (N = 17), frontal N400 and posterior P300 components were identified under the loneliness priming condition as opposed to the control condition. Increased (decreased) frontal N400 and posterior P300 lead to selfish (prosocial) choices. These results indicate that humans instinctively perceive loneliness as inconsistency with their desired social-relational life, which in turn stimulates coping strategies for self-preservation. This study contributes to our understanding of the neurobiological basis of loneliness associated with prosocial behavior.

Background This study aimed to examine factors associated with postpartum depression (PPD) symptoms during the COVID-19 pandemic among postpartum women in five countries, a subject that has not been investigated thus far. Methods A multi-country, cross-sectional, online survey was conducted with a convenience sample of 3,523 postpartum women in Brazil, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, and the United Kingdom, from July to November 2021. Sociodemographic and obstetric data, food insecurity, COVID-19 positive status, COVID-19 vaccination, infant feeding, breastfeeding belief score, and social support were investigated. PPD and social support were measured using the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale and Maternal Social Support Scale, respectively. Descriptive statistics, chi-squared tests, and t-tests were used to identify associations with PPD symptoms. A binary logistic regression model was used to identify explanatory factors associated with PPD and adjusted odds ratios (OR) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were calculated. Results Women in Taiwan (AOR = 0.5; 95%CI 0.34, 0.73) and Thailand (AOR = 0.68; 95%CI 0.46, 0.99) had a lower risk of PPD symptoms than those in Brazil. In addition, women with planned pregnancies had a lower risk of PPD (AOR = 0.74; 95%CI 0.60, 0.91). Younger women (AOR = 1.62; 95%CI 1.05, 2.51), health problems during pregnancy, delivery, or postpartum (AOR = 1.71; 95%CI 1.42, 2.06), and no change or worse food insecurity during COVID-19 (AOR = 1.66; 95%CI 1.21, 1.27 for no change and AOR = 1.68; 95%CI 1.27, 1.23, respectively) presented a higher likelihood of having PPD. Feeding babies with expressed human milk (AOR = 1.25; 95%CI 1.03, 1.50) and/or complementary food (AOR = 1.51; 95%CI 1.17, 1.94) were associated with PPD symptoms. Women who received low (AOR = 7.74; 95%CI 5.43, 11.03) or medium support (AOR = 3.25; 95%CI 2.71, 3.88) had higher likelihoods of PPD. Conclusion PPD symptoms during the pandemic were high in young women, particularly Brazilian women, with health problems in the puerperal pregnancy cycle who fed their babies expressed breast milk and/or complementary food. Low social support also impacted PPD symptoms. This study highlights the need for the professional screening for PPD and provision of virtual or personal support.

Temporal and spatial variability of deep Near-Inertial Wave (NIW) activity is revealed for the first time from direct measurements of near-bottom currents at six different sites in the western Arctic Ocean. The deep NIW activity is found to be seasonal, more energetic in July–December than in January–June. At the southernmost site in the Northwind Abyssal Plain, the NIW energy level during the energetic NIW period (July–December) is around 10 times higher than during the calm NIW period (January–June). The NIW energy during the energetic period amounts to around one-quarter that of a mid-latitude ocean. Myostatin is a widely recognized inhibitory factor of skeletal muscle growth and significantly influences muscle development and metabolism. In mice, myostatin inhibition improves insulin sensitivity, increases glucose uptake by skeletal muscle, and reduces body fat. Furthermore, Mss51 is downregulated in response to myostatin inhibition, and its deletion appears to improve the metabolic state of skeletal muscle and reduce adipose tissue, which makes Mss51 a potential target for the treatment of obesity and type 2 diabetes. Here, we report a computationally predicted and validated three-dimensional structure of Mss51. Computational screening was used to identify naturally occurring compounds from the Herbal and Specs chemical database that might inhibit Mss51, based on binding affinities and physiochemical and ADMET properties. ZINC00338371, ZINC95099599 and ZINC08214878 were found to bind to Mss51 with high binding affinity and specificity. In addition, 100 ns molecular dynamics simulations were conducted to assess the stabilities of the interactions between the three compounds and Mss51. MD simulation demonstrated that all three compounds bind to the active pocket site of Mss51 stably and cause conformation changes. ZINC00338371 was found to bind most stably with binding free energy −229.022 ± 13.776 kJ/mol to Mss51, suggesting that it has therapeutic potential as a treatment option for obesity and type 2 diabetes. Sporadic misses in the tide gauge records occur frequently for a number of reasons, which hinders understanding of ocean physics in coastal regions. In other words, general-purpose time-series analysis and prediction methods require continuity of the data. To fill the sea-level data gaps, scientists have been working hard, but the existing reconstruction techniques have a disadvantage when missed sea-level records are longer than the timescales of coastal processes. To solve this problem, artificial neural network model is also being used to fill the gaps, but this method has a chronic problem that the shape of the target is fixed. To overcome this obstacle, we designed a model, named one-step prediction operator, which predicts the sea level after a unit of time. A data assimilation technique is additionally applied to merge seamlessly the model-predicted sea level with observed one. The recursivity of this model makes it possible to reconstruct missing data even longer than 72 hours successfully. The reconstructability of sea level records at 16 tide gauge stations around the Korean peninsula confirms that it can successfully reconstruct missing values with root-mean-squared errors of 0.5–1.3 cm on average., The 28th IUGG General Assembly (IUGG2023) (Berlin 2023)

Unripe apples contain more functional compounds than ripe apples and thus demonstrate significant potential for use as functional food materials. In this study, the conditions for the extraction of functional compounds from unripe apples were optimized using the response surface methodology. A Box–Behnken design was used to investigate the effects of three independent variables (β-cyclodextrin concentration, extraction time, and extraction temperature) on the total polyphenol content (TPC), chlorogenic acid content (CAC), and 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging activity (RSA). The corresponding optimal extraction conditions were found to be 40 mg/mL, 53.03 min, and 60°C for TPC; 40 mg/mL, 46.67 min, and 60°C for CAC; and 20 mg/mL, 30 min, and 40°C for DPPH RSA. The experimental values obtained under these conditions were consistent with the predicted values, indicating that the model was suitable for optimizing the extraction of functional compounds from unripe apples.

Janus kinase 2 (JAK2), a non-receptor tyrosine kinase, is a critical component of cytokine and growth factor signaling pathways regulating hematopoietic cell proliferation. JAK2 mutations are associated with multiple myeloproliferative neoplasms. Although physiological and pathological functions of JAK2 in hematopoietic tissues are well-known, such functions of JAK2 in the nervous system are not well studied yet. The present study demonstrated that JAK2 could negatively regulate neuronal differentiation of mouse embryonic stem cells (ESCs). Depletion of JAK2 stimulated neuronal differentiation of mouse ESCs and activated glycogen synthase kinase 3β, Fyn, and cyclin-dependent kinase 5. Knockdown of JAK2 resulted in accumulation of GTP-bound Rac1, a Rho GTPase implicated in the regulation of cytoskeletal dynamics. These findings suggest that JAK2 might negatively regulate neuronal differentiation by suppressing the GSK-3β/Fyn/CDK5 signaling pathway responsible for morphological maturation.

Background/Aim: Prostate cancer (PCa) is the most commonly diagnosed genital cancer in men globally. Among patients who develop advanced PCa, 80% are affected by bone metastasis, with a sharp drop in survival rate. Despite efforts, the details of mechanisms of metastasis of PCa remain unclear. SIRT5, an NAD(+)-dependent deacylase, is hypothesized to be a crucial regulator of various cancers. The role of SIRT5 in cancer has not been extensively studied compared to other SIRTs. In this study, we showed significantly decreased levels of SIRT5 in PC-3M, a highly aggressive PC-3 cell variant. Materials and Methods: We characterized the differentially expressed proteins between parental and SIRT5 KO PC-3 cells using quantitative proteomics analysis. Results: A significant increase in expression of interleukin-1β (IL-1β) in SIRT5 KO cells was observed, and the PI3K/AKT/NF-ĸB signaling pathway was found significantly elevated in SIRT5 KO cells by the Gene Ontology annotation and KEGG pathway functional enrichment analysis. Moreover, we confirmed that SIRT5 can bind PI3K by immunoprecipitation analysis. Conclusion: This study is the first to demonstrate a relationship between SIRT5 and PCa metastasis, suggesting that SIRT5-mediated inhibition of the PI3K/AKT/NK-kB pathway is reduced for secondary metastasis from bone to other tissues.

Objective While recent studies have found deficits in theory of mind (ToM) skills in individuals at ultra-high risk (UHR) for psychosis, empathic tendencies in these subjects remain unclear. The presence of high schizotypy and compromised executive functions, which are found in UHR individuals, would affect ToM skills and empathic tendencies. We investigated the ToM skills and empathic tendencies of UHR individuals and examined their relationship with schizotypy and executive function.Methods This study included 28 UHR individuals and 28 age- and sex-matched healthy controls. All participants completed a self-reported empathic scale (Interpersonal Reactivity Index) and the Wisconsin Schizotypy Scales. Additionally, the ToM Picture Stories Task and Wisconsin Card Sorting Test were conducted.Results UHR individuals showed a trend toward lower self-reported empathic tendencies; however, there were no differences in ToM skills between the two groups. Of the four subscales of the IRI, only empathic concern showed a significant difference between the two groups. Empathic concern was inversely associated with negative schizotypy.Conclusion Our findings suggest that UHR individuals show relatively preserved cognitive empathy but compromised emotional empathy. Furthermore, in UHR individuals, the empathic concern subscale of the IRI was associated with negative schizotypy, while ToM skills were related to positive schizotypy and executive function.

Objective Relationship between hair cortisol concentration (HCC) and stress-related psychological measures are inconclusive, possibly due to overlooked heterogeneity regarding childhood trauma and a lack of comprehensive research on stress-related psychological factors. This study aims to compare young adults without history of childhood trauma to young adults who experienced childhood trauma using HCC and various stress-related psychological factors, as well as investigate the impacts of childhood trauma on the association between HCC and stress-related psychological measures.Methods A total of 206 young, healthy adults were recruited. We divided participants into two groups depending on whether or not they had suffered moderate-to-severe childhood trauma (CT+ and CT-) and compared HCC and various stress-related psychological measures between groups. Using multiple linear regression analyses, we assessed the associations between HCC and stress-related psychological measures for each group.Results We found no difference between the groups in HCC or the reported number of stressful life events in the past year; however, CT+ individuals reported higher stress perception, more depressive and anxiety-related symptoms, and more difficulties in emotion regulation than CT- individuals. HCC was associated with emotion dysregulation among the CT- individuals, but not among the CT+ individuals.Conclusion These findings suggest that history of childhood trauma should be considered in studies using HCC as a biomarker for stress in young adults. Furthermore, HCC might be a useful biomarker of stress and stress-related emotion dysregulation in individuals without moderate-to-severe childhood trauma.

Drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms (DRESS) is a severe cutaneous adverse drug reaction; reported cases are sometimes imatinib mesylate induced. The main treatment is the withdrawal of the causative drug, and most cases with imatinib-induced DRESS syndrome required withdrawal of imatinib. However, in such cases involving anticancer drugs, this may compromise cancer treatment. Herein, we report a patient with imatinib-induced DRESS syndrome that was successfully treated with reslizumab while continuing imatinib treatment. A 65-year-old female presented with facial edema and generalized skin rash after being given 400 mg imatinib 2 weeks ago for metastatic gastrointestinal stromal tumor. After stopping imatinib, the clinical symptoms improved. Imatinib desensitization was performed, and it was administered again. However, the clinical symptoms reappeared more severely 2 months after restart of imatinib, and the peripheral absolute eosinophil count increased to 1,690/μL. A diagnosis of imatinib-induced DRESS syndrome was made, based on the Registry of Severe Cutaneous Adverse Reactions (RegiSCAR) criteria. Imatinib desensitization was repeated, but the clinical symptoms reappeared, and the peripheral eosinophilia persisted. We administered reslizumab, an interleukin-5 monoclonal antibody, without cessation of imatinib. The absolute eosinophil count decreased immediately, and the clinical symptoms improved gradually. After 2 weeks, the clinical symptoms reappeared mildly, but after administering reslizumab again, these disappeared completely. Reslizumab can be considered in the management of DRESS syndrome in cases wherein the causative medication needs to be continued.

Purpose: Atrial fibrillation (AF) patients with low to intermediate risk, defined as non-gender CHA 2DS 2-VASc score of 0–1, are still at risk of stroke. This study verified the usefulness of ABCD score [age (≥60 years), B-type natriuretic peptide (BNP) or N-ter-minal pro-BNP (≥300 pg/mL), creatinine clearance (2), and dimension of the left atrium (≥45 mm)] for stroke risk stratification in non-gender CHA 2DS 2-VASc score 0–1. Materials and Methods: This multi-center cohort study retrospectively analyzed AF patients with non-gender CHA 2DS 2-VASc score 0–1. The primary endpoint was the incidence of stroke with or without antithrombotic therapy (ATT). An ABCD score was validated. Results: Overall, 2694 patients [56.3±9.5 years; female, 726 (26.9%)] were followed-up for 4.0±2.8 years. The overall stroke rate was 0.84/100 person-years (P-Y), stratified as follows: 0.46/100 P-Y for an ABCD score of 0; 1.02/100 P-Y for an ABCD score ≥1. The ABCD score was superior to non-gender CHA 2DS 2-VASc score in the stroke risk stratification (C-index=0.618, p=0.015; net reclassi-fication improvement=0.576, p=0.040; integrated differential improvement=0.033, p=0.066). ATT was prescribed in 2353 patients (86.5%), and the stroke rate was significantly lower in patients receiving non-vitamin K antagonist oral anticoagulant (NOAC) therapy and an ABCD score ≥1 than in those without ATT (0.44/100 P–Y vs. 1.55/100 P-Y; hazard ratio=0.26, 95% confidence interval 0.11–0.63, p=0.003). Conclusion: The biomarker-based ABCD score demonstrated improved stroke risk stratification in AF patients with non-gender CHA 2DS 2-VASc score 0–1. Furthermore, NOAC with an ABCD score ≥1 was associated with significantly lower stroke rate in AF patients with non-gender CHA 2DS 2-VASc score 0–1.

Purpose This study aimed to evaluate the reproducibility and diagnostic performance of a quantitative parameter of superb microvascular imaging (SMI) in real-time breast ultrasonography (US) for differentiating benign from malignant breast masses. Methods Eighty-seven breast masses in 75 patients who underwent both B-mode US and SMI before US-guided core needle biopsy were included in this study. Two radiologists performed B-mode US and measured the vascular index (VI) of SMI respectively for each lesion in real time. Intraobserver and interobserver agreements were analyzed for the VI of SMI. The diagnostic performance of B-mode US using the Breast Imaging Reporting and Database System lexicon and combined use with the VI of SMI was evaluated compared to pathology. The Committee of Clinical Practice Guidelines of the Korean Diabetes Association (KDA) updated the previous clinical practice guidelines for Korean adults with diabetes and prediabetes and published the seventh edition in May 2021. We performed a comprehensive systematic review of recent clinical trials and evidence that could be applicable in real-world practice and suitable for the Korean population. The guideline is provided for all healthcare providers including physicians, diabetes experts, and certified diabetes educators across the country who manage patients with diabetes or the individuals at the risk of developing diabetes mellitus. The recommendations for screening diabetes and glucose-lowering agents have been revised and updated. New sections for continuous glucose monitoring, insulin pump use, and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease in patients with diabetes mellitus have been added. The KDA recommends active vaccination for coronavirus disease 2019 in patients with diabetes during the pandemic. An abridgement that contains practical information for patient education and systematic management in the clinic was published separately.

This scoping review aims to explore existing literature regarding the interventional benefits of myofascial release for athletes and identify gaps in current research.

Oversight AI is an emerging concept in radiology where the AI forms a symbiosis with radiologists by continuously supporting radiologists in their decision-making. Recent advances in vision-language models sheds a light on the long-standing problems of the oversight AI by the understanding both visual and textual concepts and their semantic correspondences. However, there have been limited successes in the application of vision-language models in the medical domain, as the current vision-language models and learning strategies for photographic images and captions call for the web-scale data corpus of image and text pairs which was not often feasible in the medical domain. To address this, here we present a model dubbed Medical Cross-attention Vision-Language model (Medical X-VL), leveraging the key components to be tailored for the medical domain. Our medical X-VL model is based on the following components: self-supervised uni-modal models in medical domain and fusion encoder to bridge them, momentum distillation, sentence-wise contrastive learning for medical reports, and the sentence similarity-adjusted hard negative mining. We experimentally demonstrated that our model enables various zero-shot tasks for oversight AI, ranging from the zero-shot classification to zero-shot error correction. Our model outperformed the current state-of-the-art models in two different medical image database, suggesting the novel clinical usage of our oversight AI model for monitoring human errors. Our method was especially successful in the data-limited setting, which is frequently encountered in the clinics, suggesting the potential widespread applicability in medical domain.
