Pedestrian injuries and fatalities due to traffic accidents remain at a high level. Therefore, the need for efforts to reduce this ratio is on the rise. Machine learning models can facilitate the exploration of the various factors that influence the occurrence of pedestrian accidents. In this study, we used data on pedestrian traffic accidents classified into three categories of injury severity: minor, severe, and fatal. To compare the performance of various types of models, logistic regression, Naïve Bayes, XGBoost, CatBoost, and LightGBM were used for analysis. Five machine learning methods were applied to the analysis, and hyperparameter tuning was performed to improve the performance of the model. The performances of the five models were 0.688, 0.577, 0.705, 0.708, and 0.707, respectively, and LightGBM showed the best classification accuracy at 0.708 in this study. Based on SHAP (Shapley additive explanation), one of the explainable artificial intelligence (XAI) techniques, we were able to obtain the variable importance of the LightGBM model, through which we identified the main factors affecting each level of injury severity. In addition, by using LIME (local interpretable model-agnostic explanation), another XAI technique, it was found that the age of the driver and pedestrian was the factor that had the most significant influence on the model’s classification prediction. Specifically, as the size of the vehicle increases, the severity of the accident increases. When the driver is older, the severity of the accident is small, and when the driver is young, the severity of the accident is high.

CEvNS detectors could provide new opportunities in nuclear physics applications if they can improve existing parameters such as neutrino detector size, portability, their sensitivity to a large range of reactor antineutrino energies, and resources required for operation. Thus, modelling the antineutrino spectrum is a crucial step to study the reactor antineutrino spectra and the CEvNS detector response. The first objective of this paper is to study the importance of fission product libraries in the construction of antineutrino spectrum using the summation method and with various corrections. We have used ENDF/B-VIII and JEFF3.3 as our base data to model the spectrum. We have also included the TAGS data (pandemonium free) when such data is available. The isomeric transitions correction has the highest impact on the antineutrino spectra increasing the values 29% to 37% on an average in the energy range of 0.5 MeV to 2 MeV. This correction also shows an increase of 4.71% to 7.13% in the range of 0 to 2 MeV, with improving isomeric transitions using the TAGS data. Next, the spectra including the isomeric transition correction using the Gross Theory causes reduction by 11.56 % to 69.46 % in the range of 6 to 8 MeV. The finite size, radiative, and weak magnetism corrections cause no more than 3.27% difference between the corrected and uncorrected spectra. Our second objective is to calculate pulse height distributions of Ge and Si based CEvNS sensors assuming a 20eV nuclear recoil threshold. In our study, we have assumed a 100kg detector placed 10m away from the 1MW TRIGA reactor. Our results show that the detector response with corrected spectra for a natural Ge and Si detector are 44.25events/day and 7.99events/day. The biggest impact on the detector response is due to the isomeric transition correction; with 37% difference between the corrected and uncorrected detector response is observed., 41 pages, 8 tables, 17 figures

Personal mobility devices (PMDs) have emerged as new factors in motor vehicle accidents, and related injuries are increasing. We aimed to describe the characteristics of PMD-related injuries presented to emergency departments (EDs) through a cross-sectional study for 7 years. This study is a multicenter cross-sectional study using the Emergency Department-based Injury In-Depth Surveillance database in South Korea. We identified all PMD-related injuries from 2011 to 2017 based on text searching. We categorized them into 3 groups based on their distinguishable characteristics: electric standing scooter (E-scooter), electric self-balancing wheel (E-wheel), and electronic board (E-board). A total of 448 PMD-related injuries were observed during the observation period. E-scooter-, E-wheel-, and E-board-related injuries occurred in 284, 138, and 26 cases, respectively. Most patients were between the ages of 19 and 59 years (69.2%), men (66.3%), and injured because of leisure activity (61.2%). The mechanism of injury was mostly traffic accidents (75.2%), but regarding injuries involving E-wheel and E-board, 25.4% and 30.8% of patients slipped from the device. The most commonly injured body part was the head, which accounted for 58.1% of E-scooter injuries, 38.4% of E-wheel injuries, and 53.9% of E-board injuries. Only 6 of all patients wore a helmet at the time of accident. PMD users and PMD-sharing programs are increasing, and more accidents are expected in the future. As PMDs are convenient to move and more people are willing to use them, proper riding and safety rules based on the type of PMD are needed to reduce the risk of injury. The results of this study can be used as basic data for developing safety policies.

The purpose of this paper is to extend the mean curvature comparison and volume comparison estimates by Petersen, Sprouse, and Wei to integral generalized quasi-Einstein tensor. Moreover, we use our comparison results to get global diameter estimate.

Rapid design space exploration in early design stage is critical to algorithm-architecture co-design for accelerators. In this work, a pre-RTL cycle-accurate accelerator simulator based on SystemC transaction-level modeling (TLM), AccTLMSim, is proposed for convolutional neural network (CNN) accelerators. The accelerator simulator keeps track of each bus transaction between accelerator and DRAM, taking into account the communication bandwidth. The simulation results are validated against the implementation results on the Xilinx Zynq. Using the proposed simulator, it is shown that the communication bandwidth is severely affected by DRAM latency and bus protocol overhead. In addition, the loop tiling is optimized to maximize the performance under the constraint of on-chip SRAM size. Furthermore, a new performance estimation model is proposed to speed up the design space exploration. Thanks to the proposed simulator and performance estimation model, it is possible to explore a design space of millions of architectural options within a few tens of minutes.

Purpose We developed an adverse events (AEs) reporting form for Korean folk medicine. Methods The first version of the form was developed and tested in the clinical setting for spontaneous reporting of AEs. Additional revisions to the reporting form were made based on collected data and expert input. Results We developed an AEs reporting form for Korean folk medicine. The items of this form were based on patient information, folk medicine properties, and AEs. For causality assessment, folk medicine properties such as classification, common and vernacular names, scientific name, part used, harvesting time, storage conditions, purchasing route, product licensing, prescription, persons with similar exposure, any remnant of raw natural products collected from the patient, and cautions or contraindications were added. Conclusions This is the first reporting form for AEs that incorporates important characteristics of Korean folk medicine. Rechallenge with the first-line TKI after the second-line chemotherapy is suggested as a salvage treatment despite modest efficacy. Case presentation: Here, we report the case of a 72-year-old, never-smoker female diagnosed with multiple metastatic lung adenocarcinoma (cT2aN2M1) harboring EGFR mutations in exon 21 (L858R) of the primary lesion. Despite subsequent treatment with gefitinib for more than a year, the patient developed resistance to the drug. Histological analysis based on rebiopsy at subphrenic mass revealed small cell transformation. After a partial response to irinotecan and carboplatin, the metastatic subphrenic and liver masses presented dramatic progression despite another round of cytotoxic chemotherapy. Rechallenge with erlotinib based on the original EGFR mutation (L858R) without small cell transformation confirmed by re-biopsy of hepatic mass lesions elicited only mixed response. Therefore, cytotoxic chemotherapy comprising irinotecan and carboplatin combined with erlotinib was effective against all the metastatic lesions. Conclusion: To the best of our knowledge, this is the first case of concurrent retreatments with TKIs and chemotherapy previously effective in SCLC transformation. Complexity, Security and Civil Society in East Asia off ers the latest understanding of complex global problems in the region, including nuclear weapons, urban insecurity, energy, and climate change. Detailed case studies of China, North and South Korea, and Japan demonstrate the importance of civil society and ‘civic diplomacy' in reaching shared solutions to these problems in East Asia and beyond. Each chapter describes regional civil society initiatives that tackle complex challenges to East Asia's security. A residential heat pump faced with reliability problems due to high compressor discharge temperature and lower performance at lower ambient temperatures. Many researchers have been trying to overcome this problem by applying vapor injection techniques. However, the application of the vapor injection cycle caused higher cost due to the increased components such as internal heat exchanger or flash tank. Liquid injection technique has merits of cost and cycle reliability due to refrigerant that discharged from the condenser was expanded and injected directly into the compressor. In this study, a simulation program for a liquid injection heat pump cycle was developed. The performance of the cycle was simulated using a mass and energy balances. The model was validated by comparing the predictions with measured data at various operating conditions. Based on the simulation results, cycle performance characteristics were discussed at various operating and compressor design conditions using the simulation program.

The aim of this overview is to evaluate the primo vascular system research in the context of the history of meridian theory and the modern meanings of it. The 12 meridian systems were naturally presupposed in the conventional study of the meridians and acupuncture. But the excavations of Mawang-tui old documents and Sichuan Mianyang wooden puppet revealed the primordial concepts of meridians uncolored by the numerological cosmology of Han era. Further, the meridian map of horse, cow and hawk show another resemblance to the primordial type of meridians. Modern meridian theory has been challenged by the material based scientific theory and the primo vascular theory presents the most radical answer for it. It aims to reveal the anatomical entity of meridians. However, the study of primo vascular system is unexpectedly opening the new horizon of scientific integration of East and West beyond the mere searching for anatomical entity of meridians. Conclusions we have drawn from the historical reviews are, (1) the surface structure of the body reflects the physiopathological changes of inside the body, (2) by stimulating specific sites on the surface, it is possible to acquire therapeutic effects of certain symptoms, and (3) numbers and locations of meridian acupoints are variable among traditional meridian theories.

Active anticancer molecules have been searched from natural products; many drugs were developed from either natural products or their derivatives following the conventional pharmaceutical paradigm of drug discovery. However, the advances in the knowledge of cancer biology have led to personalized medicine using molecular-targeted agents which create new paradigm. Clinical benefit is dependent on individual biomarker and overall survival is prolonged through cytostatic rather than cytotoxic effects to cancer cell. Therefore, a different approach is needed from the single lead compound screening model based on cytotoxicity. In our experience, the Rhus verniciflua stoke (RVS) extract traditionally used for cancer treatment is beneficial to some advanced cancer patients though it is herbal extract not single compound, and low cytotoxic in vitro. The standardized RVS extract's action mechanisms as well as clinical outcomes are reviewed here. We hope that these preliminary results would stimulate different investigation in natural products from conventional chemicals.
