IntroductionSDG 4.7 mandates university contributions to the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through their education provisions. Hence, universities increasingly assess their curricular alignment to the SDGs. A common approach to the assessment is to identify keywords associated with specific SDGs and to analyze for their presence in the curriculum. An inherent challenge is associating the identified keywords as used in the diverse set of curricular contexts to relevant sustainability indicators; hence, the urgent need for more systematic assessment as SDG implementation passes its mid-cycle.MethodIn this study, a more nuanced technique was evaluated with notable capabilities for: (i) computing the importance of keywords based on the term frequency-inverse document frequency (TF-IDF) method; (ii) extending this computation to the importance of courses to each SDG and; (iii) correlating such importance to a statistical categorization based on the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) criteria. Application of the technique to analyze 5,773 modules in a university's curriculum portfolio facilitated categorization of the modules/courses to be “sustainability-focused” or “sustainability-inclusive.” With the strategic objective of systematically assessing the sustainability content of taught curricula, it is critical to evaluate the precision and accuracy of the computed results, in order to attribute text with the appropriate SDGs and level of sustainability embeddedness. This paper evaluates this technique, comparing its results against a manual and labor-intensive interpretation of expert informed assessment of sustainability embeddedness on a random sample of 306 modules/courses.Results and discussionExcept for SDGs 1 and 17, the technique exhibited a reasonable degree of accuracy in predicting module/course alignment to SDGs and in categorizing them using AASHE criteria. Whilst limited to curricular contexts from a single university, this study indicates that the technique can support curricular transformation by stimulating enhancement and reframing of module/course contexts through the lens of the SDGs.

The present document includes a state-of-the-art review of solar envelope systems that are already on the market or that can potentially reach that stage in a short-medium timeframe. The analysis focuses on the technological integration of such solutions in the envelope and building, but non-technical issues such as aesthetic, architectural integration and customer acceptance are also tackled. The solar envelope systems are classified in: Solar harvesting systems: systems that generate electricity or heat; Solar gains control systems, controlling; Hybrid systems: combination of solar harvesting and solar gains control systems.

Cet ouvrage fait partie de la collection « Coup de gueule et engagement » des éditions Atlande. Il s’agit d’une collection qui aborde les sujets cruciaux de notre société dans le but de susciter le débat. Ce volume, qui tente de présenter le Brexit de manière claire et accessible, s’appuie sur des mises en perspective historique, des analyses géopolitiques, des témoignages et des hypothèses quant au futur de la relation Royaume-Uni / Europe. La partie « Comprendre le Brexit » retrace les événements marquants de cette relation de façon à la fois chronologique et thématique. Elle prend pour point de départ l’étude des périodes-clefs du vingtième siècle que sont les années 1950 à 1957, 1960 à 1975 et 1975 à 2016. Cette première sous-partie concernant les événements ayant conduit au vote du Brexit est suivie d’une deuxième sous-partie qui s’intéresse aux dessous du référendum. Au sein de cette étude, sont évoquées la question de l’unité du parti conservateur, la pression du UKIP ainsi que l’influence des fake news. Enfin, une dernière sous-partie concerne le processus des négociations post-Brexit jusqu’au mois d’avril 2019, avant la publication de l’ouvrage et les élections européennes. Dans les dernières pages, une chronologie retrace les événements les plus importants, du discours prononcé par Winston Churchill à Zurich en 1946 au report du Brexit au 31 octobre 2019 selon le principe de la « flextension » proposé par Donald Tusk.

With adaptive building façade technologies, a building envelope can provide a comfortable indoor environment under varying external conditions with minimal additional heating or cooling. The control strategy applied to the adaptation of the façade is a key determining factor in the successful integration of these technologies into a building. The building envelope plays a key role in regulating light, heat and mass transfer from the outdoor environment to the indoor. Dynamic glazing can be used to adjust the amount of solar radiation entering a building. The control strategies that ultimately determine the success of these switchable technologies to affect a building’s energy performance and occupant comfort are reviewed in this paper.

The paper reflects the work of COST Action TU1403 Workgroup 3/Task group 1. The aim is to identify research needs from a review of the state of the art of three aspects related to adaptive facade systems: (1) dynamic performance requirements; (2) facade design under stochastic boundary conditions and (3) experiences with adaptive facade systems and market needs.

National audience; Ce dictionnaire est le résultat d’un projet original qui croise perspectives nouvelles et point sur l’état des connaissances, qui mêle articles sur les grands espaces de la planète, les principaux types de production et d’acteurs et coups de projecteurs sur des aspects moins connus. Une équipe de plus de 40 spécialistes a été réunie pour offrir plus de 500 entrées sur près de 800 pages, fruits d’un choix raisonné. Illustrant l’ouverture de la géographie aux autres sciences humaines et au monde en général, de nombreux agronomes, agro-économistes, spécialistes de relations internationales, historiens ont été conviés à participer à cet ouvrage. Il est aussi l’occasion pour des praticiens de la question de porter leurs connaissances au-delà de leur communauté scientifique, de préciser les termes d’un débat complexe, de faire partager leurs expériences, leurs craintes, leurs espoirs et peut-être, à travers une meilleure connaissance de ces enjeux, contribuer, avec les armes qui sont les nôtres, à aider à nourrir les hommes.
