The pathological mechanism of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) remains unclear. Nowadays, surface-based morphometry (SBM) based on structural magnetic resonance imaging (sMRI) techniques have reported cortical thickness (CT) variations in ASD. However, the findings were inconsistent and heterogeneous. This current meta-analysis conducted a whole-brain vertex-wise coordinate-based meta-analysis (CBMA) on CT studies to explore the most noticeable and robust CT changes in ASD individuals by applying the seed-based d mapping (SDM) program. A total of 26 investigations comprised 27 datasets were included, containing 1,635 subjects with ASD and 1470 HC, along with 94 coordinates. Individuals with ASD exhibited significantly altered CT in several regions compared to HC, including four clusters with thicker CT in the right superior temporal gyrus (STG.R), the left middle temporal gyrus (MTG.L), the left anterior cingulate/paracingulate gyri, the right superior frontal gyrus (SFG.R, medial orbital parts), as well as three clusters with cortical thinning including the left parahippocampal gyrus (PHG.L), the right precentral gyrus (PCG.R) and the left middle frontal gyrus (MFG.L). Adults with ASD only demonstrated CT thinning in the right parahippocampal gyrus (PHG.R), revealed by subgroup meta-analyses. Meta-regression analyses found that CT in STG.R was positively correlated with age. Meanwhile, CT in MFG.L and PHG.L had negative correlations with the age of ASD individuals. These results suggested a complicated and atypical cortical development trajectory in ASD, and would provide a deeper understanding of the neural mechanism underlying the cortical morphology in ASD.

Medium manganese (Mn) steel has excellent strength and ductility and is widely used in the automobile industry and elsewhere; however, hydrogen embrittlement (HE) is considered as one of the most serious issues of its application. In this paper, in situ transmission electron microscopy was used to study the microstructural evolution and fracture micromechanisms of medium Mn steel under the influence of hydrogen and annealing. The results indicated that two specimens with different annealing processes showed transformation-induced plasticity and twinning-induced plasticity, albeit to a varying degree due to different microstructures with distinct mechanical properties. It was shown that hydrogen affected the fracture micromechanisms, which promoted the initiation of microcracks at the boundaries of martensite transformed from austenite. Moreover, the main cracks propagate in a zigzag fashion, following hydrogen charging, due to the hardness of the martensite. These findings provide directions for improving HE resistance through microstructural regulation of medium Mn steel.

Medium Mn steels have been considered as the next-generation materials for use in the automotive industry due to their excellent strength and ductility balance. To reduce the total weight and improve the safety of vehicles, medium Mn steels look forward to a highly promising future. However, hydrogen-induced delayed cracking is a concern for the use of high strength steels. This work is focused on the service characteristics of two kinds of medium Mn steels under different relative humidity conditions (40%, 60%, 80% and 100%). Under normal relative humidity (about 40%) at 25 &deg, C, the hydrogen concentration in steel is 0.4 ppm. When exposed to higher relative humidity, the hydrogen concentration in steel increases slowly and reaches a stable value, about 0.8 ppm. In slow strain rate tensile tests under different relative humidity conditions, the tensile strength changed, the hydrogen concentration increased and the elongation decreased as well, thereby increasing the hydrogen embrittlement sensitivity. In other words, the smaller the tensile rate applied, the greater the hydrogen embrittlement sensitivity. In constant load tests under different relative humidity conditions, the threshold value of the delayed cracking of M7B (&lsquo, M&rsquo, referring to Mn, &lsquo, 7&rsquo, meaning the content of Mn, &lsquo, B&rsquo, denoting batch annealing) steel maintains a steady value of 0.82 &sigma, b (tensile strength). The threshold value of the delayed cracking of M10B significantly changed along with relative humidity. When relative humidity increased from 60% to 80%, the threshold dropped sharply from 0.63 &sigma, b to 0.52 &sigma, b. We define 80% relative humidity as the &lsquo, threshold humidity&rsquo, for M10B.

To balance good strength and ductility, Medium Mn steels have been considered as the new generation materials used in automotives. However, they show delayed fracture, which is thought to relate to hydrogen. Therefore, in order to understand their mechanical properties with various hydrogen contents, it is very important to assess their safety. In this study, the effect of hydrogen on the mechanical properties of several medium Mn steels (MMSs) with different Mn content and treatments were investigated. For medium Mn steels, the stability of the retained austenite (RA) was examined and the hydrogen permeation test was performed. Austenite, as a barrier to hydrogen diffusion, leads to a tortuous diffusion path, which reduces the diffusion rate of hydrogen in MMSs. Increasing the Mn content increases the volume fraction of RA in the specimen. The stress-strain curves of MMSs were divided into three parts, determined by the stability and content of RA. Slow strain rate tensile tests with hydrogen charging were performed to investigate the behaviour of hydrogen diffusion and the mechanism of hydrogen embrittlement (HE). After the tests, the hydrogen content was measured and the fracture surface was observed and analysed. The phenomenon of HE in steels has been mainly explained based on the mechanisms of hydrogen-enhanced localised plasticity (HELP), hydrogen-enhanced decohesion (HEDE), and hydrogen assisted micro ovoid coalescence (HDMC). Due to the existence of hydrogen, fracture morphology changes from ductile mode to brittle mode. It was also found that under the same strain rate, tensile strength and elongation decrease gradually as hydrogen concentration increases, resulting in final failure.

We prepared two kinds of cracks (surface cracks and transfixion cracks) to in situ study stress corrosion cracking of seven-layered (which is denoted as 7 M or 14 M) off-stoichiometric Ni 2 MnGa magnetic shape memory alloy in deionized water and moist atmosphere under constant deflection at room temperature. The experimental results showed that the cracks could nucleate and propagate continuously or discontinuously for a distance after some incubation time, and then arrest in water or moist atmosphere under constant deflection. The delayed cracking of Ni 2 MnGa alloy is regarded as reduction of the surface energy induced by adsorption of water molecule.
