La presente relazione riporta l'attività di analisi, caratterizzazione e studio dei fenomeni di disattivazione ed avvelenamento durante l'uso di campioni di catalizzatori commerciali per il trattamento di gas scarico di veicoli stradali (SCR e TWC) commissionata dalla società GreenTechs SRL con sede in Vasto (CH).

We reconstruct spectra of secondary x-rays generated from a 500 MeV - 2 GeV laser plasma electron accelerator. A compact (7.5 $\times$ 7.5 $\times$ 15 cm), modular x-ray calorimeter made of alternating layers of absorbing materials and imaging plates records the single-shot x-ray depth-energy distribution. X-rays range from few-MeV inverse Compton scattered x-rays to $\sim$100 MeV average bremsstrahlung energies and are characterized individually by the same calorimeter detector. Geant4 simulations of energy deposition from mono-energetic x-rays in the stack generate an energy-vs-depth response matrix for the given stack configuration. A fast, iterative reconstruction algorithm based on analytic models of inverse Compton scattering and bremsstrahlung photon energy distributions then unfolds x-ray spectra in $\sim10$ seconds., Comment: Proceedings of the Advanced Accelerator Concepts Seminar Series 2020

Sul mercato esistono molti materiali adsorbenti (prevalentemente a base di carboni attivi eventualmente impregnati, zeoliti, alcuni ossidi metallici) per la desolforazione e la rimozione di VOC anche a temperatura e pressione ambiente. Tuttavia questi materiali mostrano capacità relativamente basse e/o cinetiche di cattura lente a temperatura ambiente, che inevitabilmente si traducono nella necessità di utilizzare grandi volumi di impianto. La ricerca svolta dall'IRC-CNR Napoli e DSC-UNINA, in stretta collaborazione, parte dalla considerazione che lo sviluppo di nuovi materiali e processi ad alta efficienza per la desolforazione (in particolare attraverso adsorbimento) rappresenta un traguardo cruciale per l'impiego vantaggioso di una fonte energetica rinnovabile e residuale quale il biogas, anche su piccola scala in un'ottica di generazione distribuita di energia. La ricerca è stata indirizzata allo sviluppo di materiali adsorbenti ad alte prestazioni e basso costo in grado di far fronte a condizioni operative assai diversificate in termini di temperature (già a partire da temperatura ambiente) e composizioni dei gas da trattare (es. presenza di altri inquinanti).

L'attività di caratterizzazione mira alla verifica delle proprietà catalitiche di abbattimento degli ossidi di azoto attraverso la reazione di riduzione selettiva con ammoniaca (SCR), ed è finalizzata a supportare il committente nella selezione di sistemi catalitici commerciali più performanti.

La presencia cada vez mayor de estudiantes hispanoamericanos en las universidades italianas es muestra de un elevado grado de integración de los hijos de inmigrantes en la sociedad italiana y constituye un elemento interesante para el estudio del bilingüismo y del cambio lingüístico. El presente trabajo es un análisis de los comportamientos lingüísticos de alumnos de la Universidad de Milán-Bicocca que han elegido la asignatura de lengua española en su currículo universitario con el objetivo de determinar la percepción que tienen de la propia lengua, así como las actitudes y valoraciones hacia la misma. En este contexto, resulta relevante observar cómo modifica dicha percepción la confrontación con el estudio académico formal de una variante estándar de su lengua materna. El país de procedencia, la competencia en el uso de la lengua, los espacios y los usos del español o el cambio de código y la hibridación son factores que inciden en la imagen que el hablante conforma de su lengua.

Pt and CeO2 were deposited, in this order, onto Fecralloy foams. Pulsed deposition yielded Pt nanoparticles which were coated with CeO2 thin films. CeO 2 -Pt-Fecralloy was superior to Pt- Fecralloy in catalytic combustion of methanol. Active catalytic sites were located at Pt-Fecralloy and Pt-CeO2 interfaces.

Pt-based structured catalysts for the low-temperature combustion of methanol were prepared by pulsed electrodeposition, using Fe-Cr-Al alloy (Fecralloy) foam supports. Pt loading and surface area were measured by ICP-MS and cyclic voltammetry, respectively. Although the presence of a CeO2 film decreased the Pt surface area accessible to electrolyte it enhanced the performance of the catalysts towards methanol combustion, without affecting the activation energy of the process, due to the formation of novel active sites along the Pt-CeO2 interface of core-shell nanoparticles

The dry reforming (DR) of methane has been studied over Rh-based catalysts modified by phosphorous addition in order to investigate the possibility to enhance their resistance to sulphur poisoning. In particular, three catalysts have been prepared: i) by dispersing phosphorous with rhodium on La-stabilized ?-Al2O3; ii) by stabilizing ?-Al2O3 with phosphorous and then dispersing rhodium; iii) by dispersing rhodium on an amorphous AlPO4 support. Rh supported on La-stabilized ?-Al2O3 has been used as a reference catalyst. Fresh and used catalysts and their corresponding supports have been characterized by ICP-MS, XRD, BET, H2-TPR, CO chemisorption, CO2-TPD, TG analysis and Raman spectroscopy. Phosphorous addition to the supports increases their surface acidity and inhibits CO2-activation, thus depressing both activity and stability of the corresponding supported Rh catalysts during methane DR. On the contrary catalysts supported on basic La-promoted alumina provide a stable methane conversion approaching equilibrium at 750-800°C. Small amounts of phosphorous co-impregnated with rhodium, although doubles the noble metal dispersion, do not significantly impact on the catalyst activity. Transient and steady state S-poisoning experiments during methane DR suggest that sulphur directly attacks and bonds to Rh active sites, causing a rapid drop of syn-gas production even at low S-contents and a corresponding increase in the temperature level. A secondary poisoning effect is related to the transient formation of coke, almost absent under S-free conditions on the reference Rh catalyst.

Catalytic dry reforming (DR) is a potential option to valorize and upgrade biogas [1,2], a mixture of methane and carbon dioxide produced from the anaerobic microbial digestion of biomass. The syn-gas obtained by DR has a low H2/CO ratio (= 10 ppmv, independently from the type of S-bearing compound. The impact of S addition on the RWGS reaction, occurring simultaneously to DR, was also investigated under steady state operation. Transient poisoning experiments showed a rapid drop of syn-gas production and a corresponding increase in the temperature level, suggesting that sulphur directly bonded to Rh active sites. An increase of coke formation on the catalyst was detected with respect to S-free conditions, and this effect was studied by Raman spectroscopy and thermogravimetric analysis. Sulphur inhibition was reversible and the Rh-based catalyst slowly recovered its initial activity after the removal of sulphur from the feed

Pt-Fecralloy structured foam catalysts were prepared by an electrodepositon method and tested for methanol catalytic combustion under lean conditions. Noble metal loading was easily controlled through the Pt deposition charge. Characterization of catalysts as prepared, after a thermal pre-treatment and after combustion tests was performed by SEM, XRD and cyclic voltammetry. Methanol deep oxidation could be ignited at as low as 80 °C, reaching complete conversion to CO2 at temperatures that decreased progressively for increasing Pt loadings.

Ai diversi contenuti morfo-sintattici corrisponde un lessico specifico dell'economia proposto nel materiale didattico scelto e creato per l'apprendimento della lingua. Le letture finali permettono di approfondire alcuni aspetti di temi analizzati nei vari capitoli Texto para la enseñanza y aprendizaje del español en un contexto universitario de ámbito prevalentemente económico de nivel intermedio. Al contenido morfo-sintáctico corresponde un léxico específico de economía presentado a través de material didáctico seleccionado y creado para el aprendizaje lingüístico. Las lecturas finales propuestas permiten profundizar los temas y explorar algunos aspectos analizados.

MnO x -based catalysts supported at different loadings on TiO 2 (2-10 wt%) and H-ZM5 (2-20wt%) were tested for the NH 3 -SCR of NO in the temperature range 50-250°C. All catalysts showed enhanced activity at low temperature compared to traditional SCR catalyst. A detailed characterization of catalysts (ICP-MS, BET, H 2 -TPR, NH 3 - and O 2 -TPD) revealed the predominance of MnO 2 , with an enhanced dispersion when supported on TiO 2 . SCR activity correlated with a good oxygen lability which in turn increased for highly dispersed MnOx. The poisoning effects deriving from a hypothetical Sea Water Scrubber Desulphurization unit placed upstream of the SCR unit were investigated by ex-situ addition of KCl to the catalysts.

U4.1.1 Le attività svolte hanno consentito il set-up completo di due impianti sperimentali in scala da laboratorio per misure di adsorbimento di H2S in condizioni dinamiche, e per lo studio del desorbimento in temperatura controllata di composti dello zolfo (TPD-S), con una configurazione estremamente versatile e funzionale. In particolare, gli impianti messi a punto per i test dinamici di cattura di H2S da biogas simulato utilizzano letti fissi impaccati di sorbenti all'uopo sviluppati. E' possibile lo studio cinetico e termodinamico dell'effetto della temperatura (T ambiente - 300 °C), della concentrazione di H2S (0-3000ppmv), della composizione del biogas (presenza di CH4, CO2, vapore acqueo), del tempo di contatto. I test di desorbimento di H2S e SO2 a temperatura programmata consentono: a) la verifica delle quantità di zolfo catturate b) la speciazione dei composti formati in superficie sui sorbenti funzionalizzati c) la valutazione della possibilità di rigenerazione per via termo-chimica dei sorbenti esausti. oU4.1.2 Sulla scorta dei risultati di letteratura è stata individuata la classe degli (idro)ossidi e nitrati idrossidi misti di Cu e Zn a rapporti atomici variabili supportati su carbone attivo e su gamma allumina ad elevata porosità quale tipologia di materiali ad alte prestazioni per adsorbimento di H2S. Sono state sviluppate ed ottimizzate le procedure di sintesi specifiche per le due tipologie di sorbenti, impiegando supporti commerciali in forma granulare o di sfere, compatibili con l'impiego dei sorbenti nano ingegnerizzati in colonne di adsorbimento a letto fisso, sia in termini di resistenza meccanica che di perdite di carico e resistenza al trasporto di materia intraparticellare. E' stata condotta una dettagliata caratterizzazione chimico-fisico-morfologica dei materiali attraverso misure ICP-MS, XRD, SEM-EDX, BET, Porosimetria, TGA, FT-IR/ DRIFT, TPD-NOx. oU4.1.3 Sono state condotte prove termodinamiche di adsorbimento di H2S al fine di valutare le capacità di adsorbimento sui solidi selezionati in condizioni di equilibrio ricavando le isoterme di adsorbimento. La composizione del biogas modello è stata variata in modo da simulare gli effetti dei principali gas componenti sulle proprietà adsorbenti. Inoltre sono stati condotti test cinetici di adsorbimento mediante la determinazione sperimentale delle curve di breakthrough e finalizzati alla acquisizione di parametri sperimentali necessari alla modellazione e dimensionamento delle unità di purificazione condotte nel successivo PL19. Durante il periodo di riferimento è stato condotto uno studio sperimentale per valutare la possibilità di rigenerazione per via termochimica dei sorbenti esausti. L'unità IRC-CNR ha condotto le misure di caratterizzazione del biogas da digestione anaerobica prodotto nell'impianto pilota a cura di Ladurner con diverse alimentazioni in miscele FORSU/Patate/Topinambur c/o l'impianto di Eboli.

Background: foot eczema is caused by shoe contact allergy in 3-11% of the cases. The most common sensitizers are represented by rubber, adhesives, chemical tans, dyes, several biocides and, the last but not the least, metal accessories. Vegetable tans would be less important than chromium salts in the etiology of footwear allergic contact dermatitis. However, few studies have been made on their sensitization potential. Objectives: the two goals for this study were to determine a) the optimal patch testing concentration for the four most widely used and rich of tannins vegetable tans (chestnut, mimosa, quebracho and tara) and b) the prevalence of irritant and allergic reactions to the four vegetable tans and two vegetable-tanned skins (sole leather, vacchetta). Materials and Methods: in phase 1 find the optimal patch testing concentration of the four vegetable tans diluted in petrolatum; this was evaluated by a serial dilution test (5, 2 and 1%) in 100 subjects with various skin diseases. In phase 2, sensitization and irritation potential of the four vegetable tans in petrolatum 2% and the two vegetable-tanned skins were investigated in 563 patients patch tested for eczematous dermatitis or any suspected allergic skin disorder. Results and discussion: the study demonstrates that optimal concentration to test vegetable tans in petrolatum is 2% and that delayed positive reactions to tans are very rare (0.4%) and not clinically relevant, while those to vegetable-tanned skins (1.2%) are more frequent but probably relevant only in 3 of the 7 patients. These last three cases were not associated to positive patch tests to single tan; therefore, they could be due to preservatives, chemical contaminants or reaction compounds introduced accidentally during the production cycle.

Dual site Pd-LaMnO3 monolithic catalysts with different Pd loadings were prepared and tested in the high temperature lean premixed combustion of methane. It was shown that the novel catalysts effectively combine low and high temperature oxidation activity within a single system, which in turn has a wider operating window than Pd or LaMnO3 alone. In particular, evidence was found of a self-regenerative thermal activation process which restores Pd sites responsible for light-off at low temperature. Morphological and chemical analysis (SEM-EDS, BET, ICP-MS, XPS) of Pd-LaMnO3 catalysts were correlated to the results of extensive isothermal and self-sustained (steady state and transient) combustion tests in order to shed light on the nature of the catalytic species acting at different temperature levels, and on the reversible synergic interactions occurring between Pd and perovskite upon controlled thermal treatments or reaction ageing.

We are presenting the results of experiments, performed within the activities of the Seventh European Framework Programme - DEECON, on the capture of ultrafine particles and acid gas produced by a two-strokes 40kW marine engine with a technology named Electrostatic SeaWater Scrubber (ESWS). ESWS consists in a scrubber where electrostatic interactions among charged particles and charged droplets allow capturing ultrafine particles, for which the collection mechanisms active in a simple wet scrubber (phoretic, Brownian and inertial contributions) are ineffective. Moreover, due to the seawater alkalinity, an ESWS exploits appreciable acid gases absorption capacities

A new catalytic system, CuII (or Cu(0))/Cl-/TiO2/formic acid/UVssr , is proposed to generate hydrogen by photoreforming of formic acid. The influence of TiO2 loads and formic acid concentrations is investigated. Starting from zero-valent copper, the results indicate that, in the presence of TiO2 and formic acid, no gains in terms of hydrogen formed are observed with respect to the adoption of the subsystem Cu(0)/Cl-/UVssr. On the other hand, starting from cupric ions, a surplus of hydrogen production is recorded with respect to that obtained from this subsystem.
