Supplemental Material for Safety and efficacy of telitacicept in refractory childhood-onset systemic lupus erythematosus: A self-controlled before–after trial by Li Sun, Qian Shen, Yinv Gong, Yifan Li, Qianying Lv, Haimei Liu, Fei Zhao, Haiguo Yu, Xiaozhong Li, Xiaoliang He, Yuqing Chen, Zhiquan Xu, and Hong Xu in Lupus.

Sex is a science of cutting edge but bathed in mystery. Coitus or sexual intercourse, which is at the core of sexual activities, requires healthy and functioning vessels to supply the pelvic region, thus contributing to clitoris erection and vaginal lubrication in female and penile erection in male. It is well known that nitric oxide (NO) is the main gas mediator of penile and clitoris erection. In addition, the lightest and diffusible gas molecule hydrogen (H2) has been shown to improve erectile dysfunction (ED), testis injuries, sperm motility in male, preserve ovarian function, protect against uterine inflammation, preeclampsia, and breast cancer in female. Mechanistically, H2 has strong abilities to attenuate excessive oxidative stress by selectively reducing cytotoxic oxygen radicals, modulate immunity and inflammation, and inhibit injuries-induced cell death. Therefore, H2 is a novel bioactive gas molecule involved in modulating sexual organs homeostasis.

Shewanella baltica is one of the most important bacterial species contributing to spoilage of seafood. Principally, RpoS has been recognized as the central regulator of stress resistance in many bacterial species. However, little is known about the role of RpoS in S. baltica. In this study, an rpoS mutant of S. baltica was constructed and analysed for its functions. The results showed that the survival rate of rpoS mutant decreased when treated with heat, ethanol and H2 O2, while increased the resistance to NaCl. Moreover RpoS promoted the biofilm formation of S. baltica at 30°C, while declined at 4°C. Interestingly, the rpoS-deficient mutant showed increased swimming motility. Furthermore, the results revealed that the production of quorum-sensing (QS) signals such as cyclo-(l-Pro-l-Leu) and cyclo-(l-Pro-l-Phe) reduced in rpoS mutant. Mainly, rpoS positively regulated QS response regulators, as the expression of all luxR genes in rpoS mutant significantly decreased relative to wild type. This study reveals that RpoS is a major regulator involved in stress responses, biofilm formation and quorum sensing system in S. baltica. The present work provides significant information for the control of microbiological spoilage of seafood.

Aeromonas and Pseudomonas are important bacterial species involved in spoilage of refrigerated freshwater fish. In this study, 10 Aeromonas and seven Pseudomonas bacterial strains were isolated from spoiled grass carp and identified. Twelve of seventeen bacterial strains showed high potential of biofilm formation and 14 of 17 can produce extracellular protease. In order to explore the spoilage capacity of dual-species, the sterile grass carp fillets were inoculated with mono- and dual-species of Aeromonas salmonicida and Pseudomonas azotoformans strains. The results revealed significantly higher levels of the total viable count and total volatile basic nitrogen in dual-species as compared to mono-species from day 6. The higher contents of histamine, cadaverine and serious degradation in muscles tissue were also observed in dual-species after 10 days of storage. Results of in vitro experiments showed that the co-culture of A. salmonicida and P. azotoformans significantly increased the bacterial maximum growth rate, promoted the biofilm formation and improved the spoilage capacity of bacterial strains. This study has revealed that the co-culture of Aeromonas and Pseudomonas bacterial strains accelerated spoilage process of grass carp and increased biofilm formation. It indicates that the mixed-cultures of spoilage micro-organisms pose a huge threat to food industry.

Lactoferrin (LF), a bioactive multifunctional protein of the transferrin family, is found mainly in the secretions of all mammals, especially in milk. In the present study, a hybridoma cell (LF8) secreting IgG against bovine LF was screened, and the purified LF8 mAb showed high specificity and affinity to bovine LF. The linear range of ic-ELISA to detect LF was 9.76 ~ 625 ng/mL, with a limit of detection (LOD) of 0.01 ng/mL. The average recovery of intra- and inter-assay were (104.45 ± 4.12)% and (107.13 ± 4.72)%, respectively. The LOD of colloidal gold- and AuNFs-based strip by naked eye were 9.7 and 2.4 ng/mL, respectively, and the detection time was less than 10 min without any samples pretreatment and expensive equipment. The developed ELISA and lateral flow immunosensors based on specific IgG could be used directly for rapid detection of the bovine LF content in cow milk samples.

To assess the quality of medical care in childhood-onset systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) at tertiary pediatric rheumatology centers as measured by observance of SLE quality indicators (SLE-QIs).International consensus has been achieved for childhood-onset SLE-QIs capturing medical care provision in 9 domains: diagnostic testing, education of cardiovascular (CV) risk and lifestyles, lupus nephritis (LN), medication management, bone health, ophthalmologic surveillance, transition, pregnancy, and vaccination. Using medical record information, the level of performance of these childhood-onset SLE-QIs was assessed in childhood-onset SLE populations treated at 4 tertiary pediatric rheumatology centers in the US, 2 in Brazil, and 1 center in India.A total of 483 childhood-onset SLE patients were assessed. Care for the 310 US patients differed markedly for childhood-onset SLE-QIs addressing LN, bone health, vaccinations, education on CV risk, and transition planning. Performance of safety blood testing for medications was high at all centers. Despite often similar performance on the childhood-onset SLE-QI, access to kidney biopsies was lower in Brazil than in the US. Irrespective of the country of practice, larger centers tended to meet the childhood-onset SLE-QIs more often than smaller centers.The childhood-onset SLE-QIs, evidence-based minimum standards of medical care, are not consistently met in the US or some other countries outside the US. This has the potential to contribute to suboptimal childhood-onset SLE outcomes.

An integrated structure of the active suspension system was proposed in order to solve the problem of the individual control of the height of the body or the adjustable damping of the active suspension system of the electric vehicle, which improve the vibration reduction performance of the vehicle. The air bag was used to replace the traditional spiral spring, and the traditional shock absorber was replaced by the damping adjustable shock absorber, and the control module received the body acceleration sensor and the horizontal height sensor signal. The system controlled adjustable damping coefficient of shock absorber through the height of the car body the output of the air pump relay and the height control valve and the output of the electromagnetic valve of the adjustable damping shock absorber, and the emergency lane change test was carried out under different modes of speed of 60km/h. The experimental results indicated that the damping value was greater, average roll angle, yaw angle and average vehicle lateral acceleration were small when vehicle body was in the state of emergency lane change, which verified the feasibility of the integrated control strategy and structure design of the active suspension system. The research has important theoretical research value and engineering application prospect for designing and controlling strategy of vehicle chassis integrated control system.

This paper gives a definition of interactive teaching, and regards that there are some information effects in interactive teaching. The paper proposes that we need to focus on the information feedback effect, attention enforcing effect, theory-practice amalgamation effect, memory facilitating effect, and innovation inspiring effect in interactive teaching. Finally, the paper probes into the approaches to take advantages of the information effects in interactive teaching via employing computer.
