The paper proposes, starting from some certain or probable allusions (in part. a passage in Galen's Commentary on 'Epidemics' 2, only extant in Arabic translation), but also from some striking omissions ('Ancient medicine' is not mentioned in the history of hygiene that Galen traces out in the central chapters of Thrasybulus), to reconstruct the history of this significant ‘concealment’. This will also be done in the light of the numerous passages in the corpus in which Galen advocates, constantly linking it to Hippocrates, the ideal of medicine that is ‘physiologica’.

A series of quinoline derivatives have been designed on the basis of results from a 3D search of the Cambridge Structural Database using the nicotinic pharmacophore as a query and further modified using molecular modeling. Some of the synthesized compounds show nanomolar affinity for the central nicotinic receptor on rat cerebral cortex.

For a long time the study of motor decision making has essentially been based on the mechanical neurophysiology of the connections between nervous structures. Empirical research and theoretical reflection have in this way been dominated by reflexological and cybernetic models without plausible alternatives. The tendency to separate the mental functions from the body, almost as though they were independent systems, has at times had negative consequences. Indeed, whether dealing with language or other cognitive and perceptive functions, the mind is profoundly influenced by the motor sphere, the oldest from an evolutionary point of view, which depends on the cortex, the basal ganglia and the cerebellum that contain motor, motivational and cognitive components. The ever-growing debate in the cognitive neurosciences, the philosophy of the mind and phenomenology shows that the time for a conceptual and epistemological change is growing nearer, a change which puts the idea of embodied consciousness and cognition back at the centre of the research being conducted.

A series of cis and trans 3,7-diazabicyclo[4.3.0]nonan-8-ones has been synthesized and tested for their ability to revert scopolamine-induced amnesia in the mouse passive-avoidance test. The racemates of the most potent compounds 4 and 7 were separated and tested, but no enantioselectivity was found for the nootropic activity. Compounds 4 and 7 and their enantiomers displayed interesting antihyperalgesic activity in two models of neuropathic pain (streptozotocin-induced and oxalilplatin-induced neuropathy) in comparison with pregabalin.

"A series of new histone deacetylase inhibitors were designed and synthesized based on hybridization between SAHA or oxamflatin and 5-phenyl-1,4-benzodiazepines. The compounds were tested for their enzyme inhibitory activity on HeLa nuclear extracts, and on human recombinant HDAC1 and HDAC6. Antiproliferative activity was tested on different cancer cells types, while proapoptotic activity was primarily tested on NB4 cells. The compounds showed IC50 values similar to those of SAHA. Compound (S)-8 displayed interesting activity against hematological and solid malignancies."
