Mechanisms responsible for controlling masticatory muscle activity during suckling and mastication initiate in the brain. Premotor neurons situated in the brainstem transmit masticatory motor commands to the jaw-closing and jaw-opening motoneurons, which in turn activate the masticatory muscles. The premotor neurons receive inputs from multiple sources such as the orofacial sensory organs, the cerebral cortex, and the central pattern generator in the brainstem. These neural circuits might be important for controlling jaw movement, although their properties in this regard are likely to be altered in postnatal development as the oral motor behavior of mammals shifts significantly from suckling to chewing during the early postnatal period. This timing of jaw movement development mimics that of the orofacial musculoskeletal apparatus. The current article reviews findings on local neural circuits of trigeminal motoneurons and premotor neurons, during early development in rats. We describe findings from electrophysiological recordings, optical imaging with voltage-sensitive dyes, calcium imaging, and laser photolysis of caged glutamate. We also review research into the subtypes of premotor neurons in the supratrigeminal region （SupV） that differ in their electrophysiological properties and possess different morphological characteristics. We further describe how trigeminal motoneurons receive glutamatergic, glycinergic, and GABAergic inputs from the SupV and the reticular formation dorsal to the facial nucleus. Finally, we discuss how these synaptic and intrinsic membrane properties change in postnatal development. Taken together, the findings reviewed herein suggest that these neural circuits are important in diverse oral motor behaviors, and that their postnatal changes are involved in the transition from suckling to mastication functions.

目的：高齢者に足浴を実施し、以下の仮説を検証した。１）夕方の足浴により、午後から夕方にかけて貯留した浮腫傾向の水分が足浴の排尿促進効果により、入眠前に排尿され、夜間排尿量と夜間排尿回数を減少させる。２）足浴により睡眠効率が良好化するとともに、１）の成果も加わり夜間の中途覚醒が減少する。対象および方法：65 歳以上の女性7名に湯温40℃に踝骨の上10cm の湯量で10 分間の足浴を17 時に実施群と非実施群にランダムに割り付けcrossover design で実施した。結果および考察：夕方の足浴の実施により、眠前の排尿促進はしなかったが、夜間排尿量は有意に減少し、夜間排尿回数は0.5 回減少した。また、足浴実施群の夜間睡眠効率は上昇傾向がみられ、中途覚醒回数は有意に減少したことから、睡眠が良好化したといえる。以上のことから、本研究の仮説はほぼ検証できたと思われる。しかし、被験者が少ないことは本研究の限界である。, Purpose: Older adults were performed foot bathing to examine following hypotheses. 1) Foot bathing, which acts as a diuretic, in the evening purges edema–inclinable fluid that has been accumulatedfrom afternoon to evening through micturition before sleep onset, and reduces amount and number of micturitions during sleep. 2) Foot bathing improves sleep efficiency as well as reducing awareness during sleep together with effects of 1). Subjects and Methods: Crossover test was designed to randomly select operating subjects who soaked legs into 40 degrees C hot water up to 10cm above the ankle in ten minutes at 5 p.m., and their control group. Results and Discussion: Foot bathing in the evening made no change on diuretic effect before sleep onset, but significantly diminished amount of micturition during sleep and reduced count of micturition by 0.5 times. Sleep quality was supposed to be improved because foot bathing group showed good trends on sleep efficiency and decreased number of awareness during sleep. Said hypotheses were almost verified based on the results. Gathering more subjects was one of challenges in this study.

インスリン治療中の2型糖尿病患者を対象にカラーコードを用いた血糖自己測定（SMBG）の効果を検証したColor IMPACT studyにおいて，測定器画面にカラーコードを用いて測定結果の高低を示した52名のHbA1c変化量をもとに改善群と非改善群の二群に分け，血糖改善に及ぼす効果に関して事後解析を行った．二群間で，年齢，性別，糖尿病罹病期間，SMBG頻度，開始時のHbA1cに差を認めなかった．改善群では，非改善群に比べ運動療法スコアとサポート活用力スコアが有意に改善していた．多重ロジスティック回帰分析では，運動療法スコア変化量とサポート活用力スコア変化量の2項目がHbA1c改善と有意な関連を認めた．SMBG画面にカラーコードで測定結果を表示した場合，測定回数を増やすことなく，患者は運動の機会を増やすが，さらに周囲からのサポートを活用することでHbA1cが改善しやすいことが示された., The Color IMPACT study demonstrated that the color display (CD) method for self-monitoring of blood glucose (SMBG) motivates insulin-treated type 2 diabetes patients to increase their level of physical exercise, although this had no impact on glycemic control. Nevertheless, the HbA1c levels improved in half of the subjects using CD. This analysis evaluated factors affecting improvements in glycemic control according to the CD method. 三重県安濃町萩野地区で祭礼の御馳走として作られる「コノシロの腐れずし」は,すしの古い形である「なまなれずし」である。今回その漬け込みを見学するとともに,「すし」に関連ある事項について聞き取り調査をした。「コノシロの腐れずし」は塩漬けしたコノシロを塩出しした後,冷ました白飯を水で洗ってからコノシロの腹に詰めて漬け込む。漬け込み期間は75日間で,出来上がった「すし」は骨や頭までやわらかになっている。前報の音羽の「コノシロずし」とは漬け方や食べ方が異なっていた。, 9, KJ00005175027

乾麺の調理過程での食塩量変化と摂取時の食塩量を把握することを目的として,ひやむぎ食塩量とゆで時間,ゆで麺の水洗いの関係,さらにつけ麺・かけ麺の二種類の食べかたでの食塩摂取量について実験を行った。その結果,ゆでることで機械打ち・手延べひやむぎともに食塩量は20%以下に減少し,さらにゆで麺を洗うことで5%以下になった。ゆで時間の長短は食塩濃度に関係しなかった。また食べ方についてはつけ麺のほうがかけ麺より食塩摂取量が有意に少なくなった。この食べ方での実際の食塩摂取量はつけ麺で使用材料から計算した値の24%,かけ麺で40%であった。, 11, KJ00005175029

ビタミンEは食品中に広く分布しているが,調理中に酸化をうけて含有量に変化が起こることが知られている。これらの変化に関する報告の大部分は食用油中のビタミンEについてであり,その他の食品中のビタミンEの変化についての報告は少ない。特に豆類は組織が堅いため加熱時間が長いので,ビタミンE量の変化は大きいと考えられる。大豆,黒大豆,小豆中のビタミンE含有量が加熱によってどのように変化するかを高速液体クロマトグラフィー法によって定量したところ,大豆では生の49%,黒大豆では15%,小豆は27%まで減少した。また大豆に食塩や重曹を添加して加熱した場合,あるいは黒大豆に鉄ミョウバンを添加した場合は,いずれも無添加にくらべて高い残存率を示し,これらの添加はビタミンB含有量の減少を抑制した。, 7, KJ00005174985

上級煎茶を70℃と90℃の湯でそれぞれ0.5分,1分,2分,3分間浸出した試料と6ヶ月間異なる条件で保存した茶を,70℃で3分間浸出した試料を高速液体クロマトグラフィー(HPLC)を用いてカフェイン,カテキン類の定量を行った。浸出温度が高く,浸出時間が長くなるにしたがって,カフェイン,カテキン類の溶出量は増加し,特に,90℃で2分間以上浸出すると,エステル型カテキンの溶出が多くなった。6ヶ月間保存後の緑茶の浸出液では,貯蔵温度が低いほどカフェイン,カテキン類の含有量が多く,室温で保存すると含有量が少なくなったことから,これらの成分は保存中に分解することがわかった。茶液への浸出は(-)-EGCが最も多く(+)-C, (-)-ECGが少なかった。官能検査では70℃で2分間,90℃では1分間浸出した場合が香りもよく,総合評価においても有意に好まれ,70℃浸出では1分間浸出では淡すぎ,90℃では3分間浸出すると濃すぎるため有意に好まれないと評価された。6ヶ月間異なった条件で保存した緑茶は,冷凍庫保存(-40℃)で有意に好まれ,室温保存は有意に好まれないと評価された。, 6, KJ00005174984

熱伝導現象を応用した細線熱法を用いて,各種でんぷん糊液の動粘度を測定し,調理操作との関連を考察した。じゃがいもでんぷんは、100℃で3分間保持したとき最高粘度を示し,それ以上加熱を続けると粘度は低下した。じゃがいもでんぷんと,とうもろこしでんぷん糊液の粘度は0.6%までは濃度が大きくなるにつれて上昇したが,それ以上の濃度では大きく変化しなかった。同一濃度での粘度はじゃがいもでんぷんが大きく,葛,とうもろこし,甘藷でんぷんでは小さかった。じゃがいもでんぷんは砂糖溶液中で加熱すると,純水の中で加熱するより粘度は大きくなった。しかし食塩,醤油,食酢溶液中では,粘度が小さくなった。また砂糖に食酢を加えて加熱した場合は食酢のみの場合と同程度の粘度を示した。でんぷんを食酢溶液の中で糊化すると粘度は小さくなるが,加熱終了後に食酢を加え,直ちに測定すると,粘度の低下はわずかに抑えられた。これらの結果は日常調理操作で観察される現象とよく対応し,細線加熱法による粘度測定が調理科学実験で用いられうる可能性を示した。, 9, KJ00005174908, 資料

The Sorachi Group of central Hokkaido is characterized by hemipelagic sediments and ophiolitic rock associations. To determine the precise age of the upper Sorachi Group, a key unit in the geotectonic evolution of Hokkaido, radiolarian fossil assemblages have been studied. The results indicate that the upper Sorachi Group may be Albian in age, much younger than previously believed. This age is similar to that obtained for the youngest pelagites of the Nikoro Group of the Tokoro Belt, eastern Hokkaido, although the paleoenvironmental and paleogeographic settings of the two groups may well have differed.

[EN] Paleocene radiolarian assemblages from siliceous metasedimentary xenoliths hosted in some historic lava flows of Lanzarote (Canary Island) are analyzed. A thermal metamorphism transformed the radiolarians and they are now composed of cristobalite, calcite, quartz, or wollastonite 2M. In spite of the poor conservation, both Spumellaria and Nassellaria specimens have been identified. The radiolarian assemblages found can be correlated with the B. campechensis zone of the late Paleocene. These radiolarian bearing rocks cover an important hiatus in the sedimentological record of the Northwest African Margin. The abundance of radiolarians during this time can be explained by upwelling. The location of Lanzarote on the oceanic slope of the Tarfaya-Aiun basin, and the topography created by submarine volcanism are two conditions that can lead to the existence of upwelling., Research support was provided by CICYT Projects PB-870264 and PB-88-062 of Dirección General de Investigación Científica y Técnica de España.

The Tokoro Belt in Hokkaido constitutes one of the major ophiolitic belts in the Japanese Islands. In order to clarify the origin of the Tokoro ophiolitic rocks which are represented by the Nikoro Group, new micropaleontologic data of the Nikoro pelagic sediments are presented in this paper as regards radiolarians, calcareous nannofossils and foraminifers. The results show that (1) the age of the Nikoro Group ranges from the Kimmeridgian to the early Albian, and (2) the Nikoro pelagic rocks were deposited in a seamount environment near an oceanic ridge in the paleoequatorial productive region, where the paleodepth was about 1000 m and above the CCD.
