Solid solutions ZnxCd1−xS were compared by coprecipitation and sonochemistry methods, where x = 0.2 . This rate is the one that presents the best photocatalytic activity and the best performance for the production of hydrogen from a water source, according to our previous results. The influence of the synthesis method on the morphology and its electronic properties of the CdS and Zn0.2Cd0.8S systems was investigated, as well as the effect of the incorporation of Zn in the crystal lattice and its effect on the production of hydrogen from the division of water. X-ray diffraction characterization confirmed the formation of a solid solution corresponding to a face-centered cubic crystalline phase with preferential growth of (111), (220), and (311) planes and hierarchical morphology according to SEM and TEM microscopy, formed by aggregated nanoparticles of ZnxCd1−xS compound. The crystallite size decreased with the Zn incorporation in the crystal lattice from 8.61 nm by a coprecipitation method to 4.37 nm when the synthesis was assisted with sonochemistry, and the crystallite sizes range from 7.92 nm to 3.80 nm for the case of CdS pure. Other characterization techniques were also used, such as photoluminescence (PL), Raman microscopy, and N2 adsorption and desorption. The PL results show tunability of band edge emission as a function of zinc concentration in the Zn0.2Cd0.8S nanoparticles. For the water splitting to hydrogen production, the separation of the charge carriers promoted by the incorporation of Zn in addition to the shallow trap emissions generated defects in the catalyst structure; such processes are important factors found which increased with the sonochemical method, as well as the potential matched positions.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the development of pitaya cuttings in different substrates under different frequencies of irrigation. The experiment was conducted from January to May 2017 in a greenhouse at Universidade Federal Rural da Amazônia, Capitao Poço, Pará, Brazil. A completely randomized 3 × 7 factorial design with four replicates was used. Pitaya plants were grown from cuttings in three types of substrates (S1: potting soil; S2: potting soil + cattle manure + wood shavings; and S3: washed sand) under seven irrigation frequencies (24, 48, 72, 96, 120, 144, and 168 h). There was interaction between treatments for root dry matter production, root length variables, the other variables showed no interaction between treatments. The greater development of new and vigorous tissues of the aerial part, the substrates with composition black earth and black earth + manure + sawdust are indicated, and the adoption of the irrigation frequency of 72 h or 96 h. The use of substrate based on black earth + manure + sawdust, allows savings in the rational use of water and energy with the application of the 96 h irrigation frequencies, maintaining satisfactory levels of development to the plant. The washed sand substrate can be used for propagation when this material is abundant, however, greater attention should be paid to the supply of water and nutrients to the plant.

Este trabalho traz algumas considerações relacionadas a produção do múltiplo “Ebó contra o carrego colonial”, um objeto de arte afro-brasileira contemporânea e os desafios de sua inserção e comunicação no cenário artístico – e universitário – da produção visual brasileira, uma vez que seu processo de criação evocou diferentes formas de conhecimento que, historicamente, foram exotizados, demonizados e marginalizados na produção de arte no Brasil. &nbsp

The increase in water demand in regions with limited good-quality water resources makes it necessary to study the effect of low-quality water on plant metabolism. Therefore, the objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of water and salt stress on the levels of mineral elements and accumulation of toxic elements Na+ and Cl− in the leaves and their consequences on the production variables of the sorghum cultivar IPA SF-15. The design adopted was randomized blocks in a factorial scheme (4 × 4), with four salt concentrations (1.5; 3.0; 4.5, and 6.0 dS m−1) and four irrigation depths (51.3; 70.6; 90.0, and 118.4% of crop evapotranspiration ETc) in three repetitions. To obtain nutrient, sodium, and chlorine contents in the leaf, we collected the diagnosis leaf from six plants per plot. For production data, we performed two harvests at 76 and 95 days after planting (silage point and for sucrose extraction). We evaluated the dry mass, fresh mass yield, and total dry mass for the two cutting periods and applied the F-test at the 5% significance level. There was an effect of water stress but not saline, making it possible to use saline water for sorghum irrigation. As for the toxicity of ions, the plant showed tolerance behavior to Na+ and Cl− ions. The grain filling phase was more sensitive than the final phase of the crop cycle.

Agriculture in semiarid regions commonly face problems because of salt and availability of irrigation water. Considering this, studies on cultures resistant to salt and water stresses involving sweet sorghum are required. Therefore, the aim was to evaluate the growth and other mechanisms of tolerance to salinity and water deficit in BRS 506 sweet sorghum. The experimental design was conducted in Upanema-RN, Brazil, in randomized blocks, where the isolated and interactive effect of 3 salinity levels, expressed as the electrical conductivity of irrigation water (1.5, 3.8, and 6.0 dS m−1), and 3 irrigation depths (55, 83, and 110% of crop evapotranspiration) were evaluated. During the cycle, sorghum adapted to the salinity and deficit irrigation depth, since stem height reduced only −5.5% with increasing salinity and −11.95% with decreasing irrigation depth, and aerial dry mass was affected by interaction only at the end of the cycle. Proline, total amino acids, and total soluble sugars were not differenced by stresses. Additionally, around 68.71% of total Na+ was at roots at the end of the cycle. In summary, sorghum BRS 506 was more tolerant to salt than water stress and used Na+ compartmentalization in root cells as the main tolerance mechanism.

The article presents a reflection on decent work management technologies in the global productive chains. Based on economic sociology and anthropology authors, it discusses the general characteristics of the global productive chains, especially the concept of decent work as a management technology for the labor´s international regulation. The empirical focus of this research was a clothing manufacturing productive chain in the south of Santa Catarina. Interviews were carried out with social and economic actors that are part of this sector, in particular, unions and entrepreneurs. As a conclusion, it is important to highlight that decent work management technologies have the formal merit of inserting the decent work guidelines into the contracts between the suppliers and subcontractors. However, the research points out that the asymmetries in the financial negotiations which are typical of the productive chains continue to promote precarious and informal work in the sector.

Background A relationship between the EGFR signaling pathway expression in skin and the use of targeted cancer therapies has been previously demonstrated. Consistent evidence to support the use of skin biopsies as a surrogate for therapeutic evaluation is needed. The purpose of this study was to establish the relationship between the expression of EGFR signaling pathway markers in skin samples from EGFR‐mutated metastatic lung adenocarcinoma patients and their response to tyrosine kinase inhibitors. Methods This was a prospective single blind analysis of 35 skin biopsies from 31 patients with confirmed advanced EGFR‐mutated lung adenocarcinoma. Immunohistochemistry was performed: EGFR, p27, Ki67, STAT3 and MAPK, as well as H&E histopathological analysis, in order to determine their treatment response to tyrosine kinase inhibitors. Results EGFR, Ki67, STAT3, stratum corneum thickness (number of layers and millimeters) from skin samples had a statistical correlation with an adequate treatment response (P = 0.025, 0.015, 0.017, 0.041, 0.039 respectively). EGFR, p27 and number of layers of the stratum corneum were related to a better median progression‐free survival (P = 0.025 and P = 0.030). Conclusions The relationship between EGFR pathway inhibition in the skin and oncological outcomes obtained explains the parallel biological effects of tyrosine kinase inhibitors. We hope that our work incites future research to help validate and assess the use of these markers as potential prognostic and predictive factors., A total of 35 skin biopsies were obtained, of which 60% were female and 40% male, and the mean age of the participants was 60.6 ± 11.7 years. They were divided into three groups: pretreatment (12 patients: 34.3%); adequate response to treatment (12 patients: (34.3%); and no response to treatment (11 patients: 31.4%). We found that EGFR expression, STAT3, and the thickness of the stratum corneum (both in millimeters and in number of skin layers) had a statistically significant correlation with an adequate response to treatment with EGFR inhibitors in patients with stage IV lung adenocarcinoma. EGFR, p27 and the number of stratum corneum layers were related to better progression‐free survival. The relationship between EGFR inhibition in skin and in the tumor explains the parallel biological effect.

O objetivo do presente artigo foi analisar as práticas de gestão da inovação em uma empresa de base tecnológica de Florianópolis/SC. O referencial teórico serviu como referência para a condução do estudo, o qual buscou, por meio da realização de entrevistas com um representante de cada nível hierárquico da empresa (estratégico, tático e operacional), identificar (i) sinais de disrupção da empresa e (ii) gestão da inovação na empresa. O estudo nos mostra que é possível apresentar características empreendedoras em cada um dos 3 níveis que foram entrevistados.

En esta investigación evalúo la influencia que tienen distintos parámetros fisicoquímicos del agua superficial y el suelo sobre la estructura, la composición y el almacenamiento de carbono en la comunidad de mangles. El área de estudio abarcó tres estaciones de bosques de mangle en la Ciénaga de Mallorquín (Barranquilla, Colombia) que presentan variaciones hipotéticas de parámetros fisicoquímicos en el agua superficial y el suelo debido al tipo de cuerpo de agua adyacente a estas estaciones. Para ello, determiné la composición y la estructura de tres especies de mangles comúnmente distribuidas en la región (Avicennia germinans, Rhizophora mangle y Laguncularia racemosa) mediante parcelas de vegetación circulares. Luego, analicé los parámetros fisicoquímicos para cada parcela y posteriormente estimé el carbono almacenado en la biomasa aérea de la comunidad de mangles aplicando ecuaciones alométricas. La influencia de los parámetros fisicoquímicos en la comunidad de mangles se determinó a través de modelos lineales generalizados (GLM) y modelos lineales (LM). Los resultados indican que existe una relación negativa entre los parámetros de salinidad y pH del suelo con la altura y el área basal de los bosques, y el carbono almacenado en los mismos. Por otro lado, no se encontraron relaciones entre la salinidad y el pH del suelo y la diversidad o riqueza de especies de mangle. Se estima que el carbono total almacenado en la biomasa aérea de los mangles de la Ciénaga de Mallorquín es de 5265,8 Mg (IC 95% = 3437,1 - 7094,5 Mg), equivalente a 49,6 Mg C ha-1. This work aimed to analyze the spatial behavior of plant formations and land use in the Ecological Tension Area Amazon—Cerrado. To this end, the Araguaia river basin was selected, in its low course, because it constitutes a physical-natural limit between the two Biomms, with intense dynamics of use and land cover Thus, in addition to researching scientific references and socioeconomic data from secondary sources, a geographic database was elaborated, with georeferenced data, and spatial operations are carried out. Among them, a supervised classification of land use and coverage, with multi-temporal analysis between the years 1984, 2000 and 2018. Thus, an expansion of 4.2 ha of Forest (Amazon biome) was observed on the savanic phytophysiognomy (Cerrado). However, the suppression of forested areas reached values around 21,700 km2, with direct conversions to anthropic activities, mainly pasture, about 71%. The results of the mapping compared with the data of the agricultural census show that the landscape of the Araguaia river basin, in its low course, is dominated by areas of pasture managed. However, public policies and government investments have fomented the expansion of agriculture in the direct bank of the river Araguaia, from 2000 onwards, and that the landscape of the left bank is dominated by pasture managed. Finally, it was found that the implantation of protective areas contributed to the vegetational regeneration of both biomms.

Objetivou-se estudar o desempenho agronômico do pimentão cv. Ikeda, irrigado com diferentes qualidades de água, sob dois métodos de manejos de irrigação: reflectometria no domínio da frequência e tensiometria, sob ambiente protegido. O delineamento estatístico utilizado foi o inteiramente casualizado, em esquema de parcelas subdivididas, constituído de três qualidades de água nas parcelas, e dois manejos de irrigação nas subparcelas. Foram avaliadas a produtividade total; produtividade comercial; eficiência do uso da água; massa média dos frutos; comprimento; diâmetro; relação comprimento/diâmetro; teor de sólidos solúveis; acidez titulável e pH. Os resultados obtidos permitem concluir que a produtividade e qualidade físicas dos frutos de pimentão não foram afetadas pela qualidade da água de irrigação, enquanto a menor demanda hídrica quantificada pela tensiometria influenciou significativamente apenas nos pH dos frutos.

The study presents the sequence stratigraphy of the carbonate platform focused in lower part of Shuaiba Formation, as well as the organization of the arrangement formed by the cyclical sedimentological evolution at high-resolution scale, through the facies analysis, diagenetical imprints and finally, significance of stable carbonate isotope results in the building up of carbonate platform in southeast Abu Dhabi. Interpreted stratigraphic surfaces from integration of depositional facies reviewed in all available cored data within studied area and stable carbon isotope results allowed that four small-scale regression-transgression depositional cycles can be discriminated which are stacked into a medium-scale sequence, that may record a 600 kyr Milankovitch signal. The small-scale sequences were correlated within the studied area using both conventional well logs and stable isotope records. Transgression hemicycles represent the increasing of accommodation space and can be identified in direct evidence, such as 25-40 ft. thickness of lithocodium/bacinella floatstones and skeletal peloidal packstones facies, association of facies interpreted within upper slope sub-environment. Likewise, in δ13C profiles, the rise/fall turnarounds of small-scale sequences are marked by negative δ13C peaks and associated with characteristics patterns: (1) proportion decrease of shallower sub-environments facies is interpreted as an rising relative sea-level and (2) decreasing δ13C trends interpreted to be related to decreasing nutrient supply. The medium/big pores of floatstones poorly connected in packstone matrix are expressed in the medium/high porosity with low permeabilities. In contrast, regressive hemicycles represent the reduction in accommodation space and can be characterized in direct evidence, such as the growing up of persistent 10-20 ft. thickness with thousands of meters of correlation of stromatoporoids and rudist facies, association of facies interpreted within shelf-margin complex sub-environment. In addition, the fall/rise turnarounds are marked by positive δ13C peaks, associated with the stromatoporoids/rudists mounds with characteristic patterns: (1) proportion increase of shallower sub-environments facies is interpreted as falling relative sea-level and increase in proximity and (2) increasing δ13C values interpreted to reflect increasing nutrient supply. Unusually very high permeability is attributed to the present of fractures and dissolution events that is enhanced where proportion of stromatoporoids facies are more pronounced. The described characterization resulted in the identification of genetic cycles that reproduce the sedimentological evolution, which are presented in small-scale sequences. In addition, the δ13C values enabled to understand the internal organization and the development of the carbonate building up in the Shuaiba shallow platform evolution. This study provides update and understanding on sedimentary facies, depositional pattern, and expands on previous published works, using new approach from semi-regional to local scales. Finally, results help to understand the laterally extensive water break-through thin intervals, which are directly related to the regressive hemicycles described previously.

Esta obra faz parte de uma série de 11 livros que apresentam proposições de ações para habitats de inovação localizados em diferentes territórios do Brasil. Este é o resultado do trabalho realizado por alunos da disciplina de Habitats de Inovação, ministrada para o mestrado e doutorado do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Engenharia e Gestão do Conhecimento (EGC), que foi realizada em rede pelo grupo VIA Estação Conhecimento. A proposta é conduzida por meio da metodologia exclusiva do grupo VIA Estação Conhecimento, chamada Ciclo VIA que utiliza ferramentas inovadoras do grupo para a identificação de desafios e a proposição de enfrentamento, mitigação ou resolução dos mesmos. Para elaboração das proposições, os alunos receberam o compartilhamento de experiências de docentes e especialistas nos diversos temas de inovação. Ainda, contataram stakeholders locais que contribuíram no desenvolvimento das propostas. Dessa forma, os autores dessa série trabalharam em rede para propor ações para habitats de inovação localizados em 10 territórios brasileiros. Os territórios que possuem proposições estão localizados em Serra no Espírito Santo; Maceió em Alagoas; Santarém no Pará; Cuiabá em Mato Grosso; São Bento do Sul; Balneário Camboriú; São José; e Florianópolis em Santa Catarina; Santa Rosa; e, Santa Maria no Rio Grande do Sul. This catalogue presents 52 screendance works from 17 countries, with the corresponding presentation by the artists, from the 5th EIVV (Encontre Internacional de Videodansa I Videoperformance, International Meeting on Videodance and Videoperformance) held in October 2018 at the Centre del Carme Cultura Contemporània. València (Spain) This Meeting was curated and organised by Blas Payri and Rafel Arnal.

In the 6th edition of the EIVVV, Encontre Internacional de Videodansa i Videoperformance, we have noticed the immense moment of creativity that videodance is experiencing. Year after year, we observe the increase in the quantity and quality of the pieces received. In this last edition, in addition to the 632 pieces received from all over the world, we have asked certain authors for more pieces to deepen their journey and we have counted with the addition of local productions. We will be able to see works from countries with an interesting and little seen production, such as Iran, Lebanon or African countries like Nigeria and South Africa. We have put the focus on certain authors to see their creative journey in their presence showing multiple works from different stages of their creation, such as the choreographer and director Dina Veryutina (Russia), the director and performer Fenia Kotsopoulou (Greece), the director of hybrid works between dance, fashion and video art Hadi Moussally (France/Lebanon) or the performers and directors the Samaya Wives (Australia). We will also be able to discover works from Latin America, USA, China and various parts of Europe and discuss with their authors. The EIVVV also opens beyond video dance by programming documentaries on dance and introducing a pedagogical aspect around the creation and exploration of dance in different contexts.

Background: Immunotherapy has demonstrated an improved overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS) as second-line treatment and subsequent lines compared with chemotherapy. Materials and methods: This was a retrospective review among eight medical centers comprising 100 patients with a confirmed diagnosis of non-small-cell lung carcinoma, in their second-line treatment or beyond with immune checkpoints inhibitors treatment. The current study aimed to analyze effectiveness of immunotherapy in second-line treatment or further in the Mexican population, using PFS rate, OS rate and the best objective response to treatment by RECIST 1.1 as a surrogate of effectiveness. Results: In total, 100 patients met the criteria for enrollment in the current study. From the total study population, 49 patients (49.0%) were male and 51 (51.0%) were female, with an average age of 60 years and stage IV as the most prevalent clinical stage at the beginning of the study. A total of 61 patients (61.0%) had partial response; 11 (11.0%) stable disease; 2 (2.0%), complete response, 4 (4.0%), progression; and 22 (22.0%) were nonevaluable. We found a median PFS of 4 months (95% CI: 3.2–4.7 months) and an OS of 9 months (95% CI: 7.2–10.7 months). Conclusion: The response to immunotherapy is similar, with an improvement in OS and PFS, independent of which drug is used. Patients using nivolumab had a better survival, although that was not statistically significant.

Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES O sorgo é uma cultura de alto potencial de produção para regiões secas, por apresentar tolerância ao déficit hídrico e adaptar bem a condições de estresse salino. Assim o objetivo da pesquisa é avaliar a influência dos estresses hídrico e salino proporcionadas por diferentes lâminas e concentrações de sais na água de irrigação nos teores de nutrientes e produção de biomassa de sorgo das cultivares BRS Ponta Negra e IPA SF-15 sob as condições climáticas do semiárido. Foram conduzidos simultaneamente dois experimentos no período de setembro a dezembro de 2019, na área experimental localizada no sítio Cumaru, município de Upanema-RN. Experimento I: Cultivar BRS Ponta Negra e Experimento II: Cultivar IPA SF-15. O delineamento adotado foi blocos casualizados em esquema fatorial (4 x 4), sendo 4 concentrações de sais na água de irrigação, expressa em condutividade elétrica (CE): 1,5; 3,0; 4,5 e 6,0 dS m-1 e 4 lâminas de irrigação (51,3; 70,6; 90,0 e 118,4% da ETc), com 3 repetições. No solo foi avaliado pH, e CEes e relação de adsorção de sódio (RASes), ambos no extrato de saturação. Para os dados de produção foram realizadas duas colheitas para BRS Ponta Negra aos 68 e 90 DAP e Cultivar IPA SF-15 aos 76 e 95 DAP, avaliando-se a porcentagem de planta com cachos, porcentagem de massa seca, rendimento de planta, massa seca total e massa fresca do caule. Na folha diagnose foram determinados os teores de sódio, potássio, cálcio, magnésio, fosforo e cloro. Os dados foram interpretados por meio da análise de variância utilizando o teste F e aplicando análise de regressão, modelos polinomiais para lâminas e salinidade ao nível 5% de significância. Os resultados encontrados mostram que não há interação entre a salinidade e as lâminas de irrigação sob a produção de plantas de sorgos para as variáveis analisadas. A salinidade da água de irrigação ocasionou no aumento da condutividade elétrica da solução do solo, sendo reduzida com aplicação das lâminas de irrigação. As plantas de sorgo foram mais sensíveis ao déficit hídrico na fase de floração do que na fase final de desenvolvimento. O sorgo BRS Ponta Negra e IPA SF-15 não tem perda de produção quando é irrigado com água de CE de até 6,0 dS m-1 Sorghum is a crop with high production potential for dry regions, as it is tolerant to water deficit and adapts well to salt stress conditions. Thus, the objective of the research is to evaluate the influence of water and saline stresses provided by different blades and salt concentrations in the irrigation water on nutrient content and sorghum biomass production of cultivars BRS Ponta Negra and IPA SF-15 under climatic conditions of the semiarid region. Two experiments were conducted simultaneously from September to December 2019, in the experimental area located at the Cumaru site, municipality of Upanema-RN. Experiment I: Cultivate BRS Ponta Negra and Experiment II: Cultivate IPA SF-15. The adopted design was randomized blocks in a factorial scheme (4 x 4), with 4 salt concentrations (1.5; 3.0; 4.5 and 6.0 dS m -1) and 4 irrigation depths (51.3; 70.6; 90.0 and 118.4 % of ETc), with 3 repetitions. Soil pH, CEes and RASes of the soil were evaluated. For the production data, two harvests were carried out for BRS Ponta Negra at 68 and 90DAP and Cultivar IPA SF-15 at 76 and 95DAP, evaluating the percentage of plant with clusters, percentage of dry weight, plant yield, total dry weight and fresh weight of the stem. In the diagnosis sheet, the nutrient contents were determined; sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus and chlorine. The data were interpreted through the analysis of variance using the F test and applying regression analysis, polynomial models for slides and salinity at the 5% level of significance. The results found show that there is no interaction between salinity and irrigation depths under the production of sorghum plants for the analyzed variables. The salinity of the irrigation water caused an increase in the electrical conductivity of the soil solution, which was reduced with the application of irrigation depths. Sorghum plants were more sensitive to water deficit in the flowering phase than in the final development phase. We investigate the heat transport properties of a three-level system coupled to three thermal baths, assuming a model based on superconducting circuit implementations. The system-bath coupling is mediated by resonators which serve as frequency filters for the different qutrit transitions. Taking into account the finite quality factors of the resonators, we find thermal rectification and circulation effects not expected in configurations with perfectly-filtered couplings. Brazil has a large prison population, which places it as the third country in the world with the most incarceration rate. In addition, the criminal caseload is increasing in Brazilian Judiciary, which is encouraging AI usage to advance in e-Justice. Within this context, the paper presents a case study with a dataset composed of 2,200 judgments from the Supreme Federal Court (STF) about pre-trial detention. These are cases in which a provisional prisoner requests for freedom through habeas corpus. We applied Machine Learning (ML) and Natural Language Processing (NLP) techniques to predict whether STF will release or not the provisional prisoner (text classification), and also to find a reliable association between the judgment outcome and the prisoners’ crime and/or the judge responsible for the case (association rules). We obtained satisfactory results in both tasks. Classification results show that, among the models used, Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) is the best, with 95% accuracy and 0.91 F1-Score. Association results indicate that, among the rules generated, there is a high probability of drug law crimes leading to a dismissed habeas corpus (which means the maintenance of pre-trial detention). We concluded that STF has not interfered in first degree decisions about pre-trial detention and that is necessary to discuss the drug criminalization in Brazil. The main contribution of the paper is to provide models that can support judges and pre-trial detainees.

La investigación explora el surgimiento y la actuación de dos “colectivos activistas” peruanos entre los años 2016 y 2019. En el período estudiado, uno caracterizado por la alta inestabilidad política debido a las pugnas entre el gobierno y el parlamento, No a Keiko y Con Mis Hijos No Te Metas lograron erigirse como protagonistas del escenario público nacional. Los colectivos encarnaron sectores antagónicos del espectro político y social –No a Keiko en el “liberal-progresismo” y Con Mis Hijos No Te Metas en el “conservadurismo”- en un momento de la historia reciente signada por una pronunciada polarización. El análisis de ambos colectivos activistas se fundamenta en una perspectiva sociológica “relacional”, en tanto se resalta deliberadamente la conexión entre liderazgos, organizaciones y condicionantes externos. La construcción organizacional de ambos colectivos les permitió ejercer funciones de representación y participación política. Se sostiene que la presencia de No a Keiko y Con Mis Hijos No Te Metas es una consecuencia parcial de la “crisis de representación” que atraviesa el sistema político peruano desde hace décadas. La débil capacidad de articulación e intermediación de los intereses sociales por parte de los partidos políticos ha fomentado la aparición de organizaciones como los colectivos activistas. En ese sentido, esta investigación contribuye a la literatura relativa a activismos y organizaciones sociales pues analiza cómo y en qué contextos los colectivos activistas pueden ejercer funciones de representación y participación política, “desplazando” a los partidos políticos de sus espacios de actuación convencionales. Bajo esta perspectiva, la tesis encara una de las interrogantes principales de la “sociología del individuo”, aquella que se plantea sobre el tipo de respuestas individuales (y colectivas) que los sujetos ofrecen a las “pruebas” (estructurales). El diseño de investigación es cualitativo y el recojo de información se basó en 13 entrevistas semiestructuradas a los activistas de No a Keiko y Con Mis Hijos No Te Metas, así como 3 entrevistas a expertos en el campo del conservadurismo evangélico. Asimismo, se examinaron fuentes secundarias como libros, artículos de opinión, artículos académicos, tesis universitarias y los perfiles oficiales de los colectivos en redes sociales.

Esta obra faz parte de uma série de 11 livros que apresentam proposições de ações para habitats de inovação localizados em diferentes territórios do Brasil. Este é o resultado do trabalho realizado por alunos da disciplina de Habitats de Inovação, ministrada para o mestrado e doutorado do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Engenharia e Gestão do Conhecimento (EGC), que foi realizada em rede pelo grupo VIA Estação Conhecimento. A proposta é conduzida por meio da metodologia exclusiva do grupo VIA Estação Conhecimento, chamada Ciclo VIA que utiliza ferramentas inovadoras do grupo para a identificação de desafios e a proposição de enfrentamento, mitigação ou resolução dos mesmos. Para elaboração das proposições, os alunos receberam o compartilhamento de experiências de docentes e especialistas nos diversos temas de inovação. Ainda, contataram stakeholders locais que contribuíram no desenvolvimento das propostas. Dessa forma, os autores dessa série trabalharam em rede para propor ações para habitats de inovação localizados em 10 territórios brasileiros. Earthquakes and landslides are common in the Philippines due to the country’s geography being situated along the Pacific Ring of Fire. In such events, structural collapse could occur and potentially trap humans inside. Rescue efforts either blindly search for the survivors or use expensive equipment to aid their search. Such equipment cannot be distributed to every local government unit. In this paper, we propose a low-cost light-weight vital sign detection system using radar technology. We have shown that a software-defined radio operating at the S-band can be used to detect human vital signs over a concrete wall. Due to its light weight, it can be mounted on a drone to improve the time it takes to rescue survivors.

As tecnologias e artefatos tecnológicos, especialmente os digitais, estão presentes no espaço escolar e no cotidiano de muitos jovens em idade escolar. A democratização do acesso à informação e à alfabetização tecnocientífica na contemporaneidade tem importante relação com o acesso à estes artefatos e tecnologias. Se o espaço e o currículo escolar não são neutros e são alvo de disputas de projetos de ser humano e de sociedade, qual o lugar e o papel da tecnologia no ensino escolar? Sendo os artefatos e a tecnologia construções de uma realidade histórica e política (que também ajudam a construir), seria possível um projeto de base emancipadora e democrática para a tecnologia na escola? Nesse sentido, esse estudo teve como objetivo levantar o debate entre tecnologias e educação tendo vista um horizonte democrático e emancipador. Em uma abordagem crítica, buscou-se: (1) discutir as possibilidades de democracia e sua relação com a educação; (2) as relações entre educação e tecnologias; e (3) as relações entre as tecnologias e uma formação para a democracia. Observa-se que a inserção das tecnologias na educação pode fornecer instrumentos para a formação de uma sociedade democrática, sobretudo (mas não somente) pelo acesso à informação e aos recursos tecnocientíficos que pode possibilitar o desenvolvimento de sujeitos ativos e conscientes. Mas este acesso não está disponível para todos. A tecnologia, por sua vez, incorpora valores dos grupos sociais capazes de traduzir seus valores na técnica e nos artefatos. É preciso considerar também a agência destes artefatos e seus impactos sobre as pessoas e que sua mera inserção nos espaços educativos não necessariamente traduz uma perspectiva emancipadora. Desta forma, um olhar crítico para a relação entre tecnologia e educação passa pela problematização dos artefatos tecnocientíficos, sua situcionalização histórico-cultural e uma análise dos atores envolvidos e beneficiados por seu desenho.

Este trabalho tem por objetivo discutir a inovação e algumas de suas principais representações e significações desde os primeiros usos da palavra na Grécia Antiga até o século XX. Busca-se, dentro dos limites destas breves páginas, trilhar os caminhos que levaram uma expressão de conotação política e que pouco ou nada tinha que ver com artefatos e tecnologia, para as significações vinculadas ao progresso, à economia, ao mercado e, mais especialmente, ao campo da ciência e da tecnologia. Para tanto, busca-se contextualizar as representações e narrativas acerca da inovação e os valores ético-políticos e sociais a eles associados por meio de uma abordagem crítica de reconstrução normativa imanente, identificando suas determinações sociais, políticas e econômicas. O que se observa é que as representações acerca da inovação não foram lineares, e em várias épocas assumiram sentidos próximos, ambivalentes e mesmo opostos, dependendo dos objetivos dos escritores e do contexto em que estavam inseridos. Os ideais normativos tiveram conotações diversas e polissêmicas, variando ao longo do tempo. Nem sempre inovação esteve associada à criatividade, artefatos e processos tecnológicos, nem tampouco vinculada à economia e ao mercado, o que aconteceu somente ao longo do século XX.

The constant research in therapeutics for mesothelioma has been improving their tumor response and overall survival, generating the need to propose markers that guide the doctor’s therapeutic approach in a more precise way. Recently, different predictive factors have been proposed, such as mesothelin-related peptides, fibulin-3, and osteopontin associated with an image giving information about the probability of tumor response to a therapeutic agent or a combination of agents. As is well known, the importance of prognostic markers of utility lies in providing prospective information on the evolution of the patient and thus their ability to guide therapeutic decisions. Although the clinical stage and histology are currently the most described prognostic factors, recent studies have shown interest in the expression of estrogen receptor beta and calretinin, among other promising factors. Given the heterogeneity of this broad field of research in mesothelioma, it is necessary to objectively present the prognostic and predictive factors of greater clinical utility.

PURPOSE The LUME-Lung 1 study has brought consistent evidence of the effective use of nintedanib in lung adenocarcinoma as a second line of treatment; however, differences among ethnicities have been found in some studies. METHODS This was a retrospective review among 21 medical centers of 150 patients with a confirmed diagnosis of lung adenocarcinoma, included in a compassionate use program of nintedanib from March 2014 to September 2015. The current study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of nintedanib in combination with docetaxel in the Mexican population, using progression-free survival rate and the best objective response to treatment by RECIST 1.1 as a surrogate of effectiveness. In addition, we examined the toxicity profile of our study population as a secondary end point. RESULTS After exclusion criteria, only 99 patients met the criteria for enrollment in the current study. From the total study population, 53 patients (53.5%) were male and 46 (46.5%) were female, with an average age of 60 years and stage IV as the most prevalent clinical stage at the beginning of the compassionate use program. A total of 48 patients (48.5%) had partial response; 26 (26.3%), stable disease; 4 (4%), complete response; and 16 (16.2%), progression; and 5 (5%) were nonevaluable. We found a median progression-free survival of 5 months (95% CI, 4.3 to 5.7 months). The most common grade 3 or 4 adverse reactions were fatigue (14%) and diarrhea (13%). CONCLUSION Nintedanib, as part of a chemotherapy regimen, is an effective option with an acceptable toxicity profile for advanced lung adenocarcinoma after first-line treatment progression.

Este artículo examina los vínculos existentes entre sharía e identidad en algunas sociedades mayoritariamente musulmanas, así como los debates en los espacios públicos y las manifestaciones en defensa de la aplicación de la legislación islámica. Analiza igualmente el recurso a la sharía por parte de diferentes actores sociopolíticos, incluidos regímenes árabes en determinadas coyunturas, al igual que su inclusión en discursos abiertamente islamófobos en sociedades occidentales con presencia de minorías musulmanas. This paper examines the links between Shariah and identity in some predominantly muslim societies, as well as debates in public spaces and demonstrations in defence of the application of Islamic law. It also analyses the use of Sharia law by different socio-political actors, including several Arab regimes at certain junctures, as well as the inclusion of Sharia law in openly Islamophobic discourses in Western societies with the presence of Muslim minorities.

Purpose: The present study aims to describe the differences in the prevalence of EGFR mutation of lung adenocarcinoma between private and public healthcare institutions. Methods: This was a descriptive, observational, retrospective, multicenter study with confirmed diagnosis of non-small cell lung cancer, adenocarcinoma subtype, distributed between two private practice centers and one public healthcare institution. After a pathology review to determine whether there was enough tumor tissue to make a molecular biology study, mutations were determined using real-time PCR for EGFR tyrosine-kinase domain gene. Results: After exclusions a total of 328 patients results for the final analysis. Two hundred thirty-five patients (71.64%) attended a public healthcare institution and ninety-three patients (28.35%) to a private healthcare institution (Table 1). From the public healthcare institution, 113 (34.45%) patients had a positive EGFR mutation, while only 27 patients (8.23%) from the private healthcare institution were positive for an EGFR mutation. When comparing the total number of patients in the study, this difference was statistically significant when comparing public versus private hospitals (p=0.002). Conclusion: We found that there is a statistically significant difference between the frequency of EGFR mutations between populations attending public and private healthcare institutions, probably related to ethnic differences between populations. Despite what has been reported in the present study, these conclusions cannot be generalized and further investigation is needed.

One of the main challenges in studying dust in these various environments is thus to harmonize the diverse research techniques and results, including in-situ measurement, remote observation, laboratory experiments and modelling, and analysis of returned samples. For the first time in over a decade, this volume accomplishes exactly that, providing an overarching picture of the current state of dust science and research.Where possible, the papers in this volume emphasize the interconnections, similarities, and differences in the field, synthesizing results from several techniques into one cohesive view. Importantly, astrobiological connections have now been considered. The dust hazard, future technology and research, and space mission requirements and scenarios are also addressed. The objective of this study was to study the agronomic performance of chili cv. Ikeda, irrigated with different water qualities, under two methods of irrigation management: frequency reflectometry and tensiometry under protected environment. The statistical design used was completely randomized, in a subdivided plots scheme, consisting of three water qualities in the plots, and two irrigation managements in the subplots. The total productivity was evaluated; commercial productivity; efficiency of water use; average fruit mass; length; diameter; length / diameter ratio; soluble solids content; titratable acidity and pH. The results obtained allow us to conclude that the productivity and physical quality of the sweet pepper fruits were not affected by the quality of the irrigation water, while the lower water demand quantified by the tensiometry influenced only the pH of the fruits. Objetivou-se estudar o desempenho agronômico do pimentão cv. Ikeda, irrigado com diferentes qualidades de água, sob dois métodos de manejos de irrigação: reflectometria no domínio da frequência e tensiometria, sob ambiente protegido. O delineamento estatístico utilizado foi o inteiramente casualizado, em esquema de parcelas subdivididas, constituído de três qualidades de água nas parcelas, e dois manejos de irrigação nas subparcelas. Foram avaliadas a produtividade total; produtividade comercial; eficiência do uso da água; massa média dos frutos; comprimento; diâmetro; relação comprimento/diâmetro; teor de sólidos solúveis; acidez titulável e pH. Os resultados obtidos permitem concluir que a produtividade e qualidade físicas dos frutos de pimentão não foram afetadas pela qualidade da água de irrigação, enquanto a menor demanda hídrica quantificada pela tensiometria influenciou significativamente apenas nos pH dos frutos.

A ETo da cobertura foi determinada a partir dos dados de evaporação do TCA instalado nesse ambiente e Kp = 1; e correlacionada com a ETo externa calculada por diferentes métodos de estimativas. A ETo da cobertura correspondeu a 77,8; 75,0 e 82,4% da ETo obtida pelos métodos de Penman-Monteith, TCA e Jensen e Haise, respectivamente; e 105 e 131,3% da ETo obtida pelos métodos de Hargreaves e Samani e Makkink, respectivamente. A evapotranspiração de referência em ambiente protegido pode ser estimada, com correlação elevada, a partir de dados externos, através do método do tanque classe A, com o Kp calculado para as condições climáticas locais. The experiment was conducted in the test area of DTCS-UNEB, Juazeiro, BA, from June to September, 2015. Under a structure covered with a shading screen was introduced the tomato culture, a Class A pan (TCA) and an automatic weather station. The covered area’s ETo was determined using the evaporation data from the TCA installed in this environment and the coefficient Kp = 1; and correlated with the external ETo calculated by different estimation methods. The covered area’s ETo corresponded to 77.8; 75.0 and 82.4% of the ETo obtained by the Penman-Monteith, TCA and Jensen and Haise methods, respectively; and 105 and 131.3% of the ETo obtained by the methods of Hargreaves and Samani and Makkink, respectively. The reference evapotranspiration in a protected environment can be estimated, with high correlation, from external data, using the class A pan method, with a calculated Kp for the local weather conditions. Emergence of bacterial infections, including those associated with Staphylococcus aureus, brings up a need for searching new and more effective strategies for clinical treatment. The use of medicinal plants associated with conventional antibiotics may represent a therapeutic option. Currently, studies evidence the synergistic effect achieved by combining plant extracts with antibiotics. Our objective was evaluate the in vitro antimicrobial activity and bactericidal kinetics of Matricaria recutita extract (chamomile) and its association with cephalexin and norfloxacin on clinical isolates of S. aureus from bovine origin, characterized as resistant. The tests were performed by method of dilution in solid medium to determine the Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC). In both combinations of M. recutita extract with antibiotics norfloxacin and cephalexin, we observed MIC in dilution 1:64, corresponding to 8μg/mL of the antibiotic and 13.43 μg/mL of extract. Cephalexin associated with chamomile extract produced a effect of the combination in 75% of samples in their MIC. The combination of natural products frequently used by the population with the antibiotics tested in this study, could represent a therapeutic option for treatment of infections caused by S. aureus, as well as the prevention of the increasing development of resistance. O surgimento de infecções bacterianas, incluindo aquelas associadas com Staphylococcus aureus, traz à tona uma necessidade de buscar novas estratégias mais eficazes para tratamento clínico. O uso de plantas medicinais associados com os antibióticos convencionais pode ser uma opção terapêutica. Atualmente, estudos evidenciam o efeito sinérgico alcançado através da combinação de extratos vegetais com antibióticos. Nosso objetivo foi avaliar a atividade antimicrobiana e cinética bacteriana in vitro do extrato de Matricaria recutita (camomila) e sua associação com cefalexina e norfloxacin sobre isolados clínicos de S. aureus de origem bovina, caracterizada como resistente. Os ensaios foram realizados pelo método da diluição em meio sólido para a determinação da Concentração Inibitória Mínima (CIM). Em ambas as associações do extrato de M. recutita com os antibióticos norfloxacina e cefalexina, foi observada CIM na diluição 1:64 o que correspondeu a 8μg/mL dos antibióticos e 13.43 μg/mL do extrato. A associação Cefalexina com extrato de camomila produziu um efeito sinérgico em 75% das amostras na sua CIM. A combinação com produtos naturais frequentemente utilizados pela população e os antibióticos aqui ensaiados, poderiam representar uma opção terapêutica para o tratamento de infecções causadas por S. aureus, como também para prevenção do desenvolvimento crescente de resistência.

Background: Overexpression of estrogen receptors in malignant pleural mesothelioma has shown an independent relation with a better prognosis of survival, and the use of selective estrogen receptor beta (ERβ) agonists increases the susceptibility to antitumor treatment. Methods: This was a retrospective single center study that analyzed the response of malignant pleural mesothelioma with an expression of ERβ to first-line chemotherapy. The study included patients with pleural mesothelioma pathologically confirmed between 2013 and 2016 at the National Institute for Respiratory Disease (INER), who underwent an immunohistochemistry assay for ERβ (mouse monoclonal antibody PPG5/10). The primary endpoint was the response to chemotherapy based on RECIST 1.1 according to the ERβ expression; secondary outcomes were the overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS). Results: We included 22 patients, regarding the expression of ERβ, 17 (77.2%) patients had high or moderate degree, while 5 (22.7%) had low degree or null expression. The response to treatment as by RECIST 1.1, 12 (54.5%) had partial response, 5 (22.7%) had stable disease, and 3 (13.6%) had progression. None of the patients had a complete response. Of those who had a partial response, 9 (75%) had a high or moderate degree of ERβ expression in tumor cells, and 3 (25%) had a low or null degree of expression. Conclusions: High and moderate expression of ERβ group with advanced clinical stage malignant pleural mesothelioma was associated with a tendency of higher OS and better response to chemotherapy treatment resulting in longer PFS although statistical significance was not achieved.

La desigualdad es uno de los problemas más lacerantes de México. La generación de igualdad ha sido, es y será, tarea prioritaria del gobierno federal, de las entidades federativas y de los municipios, desde luego, también de todos los habitantes del país en lo individual, social y empresarial. De no atenderse por los tres órdenes de gobierno y sus administraciones, los sectores privado y social; la desigualdad seguirá representando una limitante para el desarrollo y la evolución tanto de los individuos como de la sociedad. Para luchar contra la desigualdad deben abandonarse las ideas liberales y otorgar preeminencia a los aspectos sociales de las personas. La injusticia económica produce la injusticia social y ésta la inseguridad pública, con los consiguientes problemas para el desenvolvimiento económico.

Introduction: Osteoarthritis is a growingly common joint disorder affecting older adults. It is characterized by chronic low-grade inflammation, a phenomenon by itself considered a cardiovascular risk factor. However, data on its potential impact on cardiovascular disease (CVD) is scarce. Assessing hand osteoarthritis (HOA) might be advantageous when studying CVD as this particular location might be less affected by traditional cardiovascular risk factors such as overweight and physical activity. Hypothesis: HOA is associated with subclinical CVD. Methods: We cross-sectionally assessed the relationship between HOA and CVD in 1,803 women from the Mexican Teachers’ Cohort, excluding those with history of myocardial infarction, cerebrovascular disease, and rheumatoid arthritis. From 2012 to 2016, a subsample of the MTC participants from Mexico City and the states of Nuevo LeÓn, Chiapas, and YucatÅn were invited for clinical examinations in which standardized neurologists measured their carotid intima-media thickness (IMT) with ultrasound and a standardized HOA questionnaire was applied. HOA was defined as having ≥45 years, hand joint pain, and morning stiffness that lasts no longer than 30 minutes. Subclinical CVD was assessed through log-transformed IMT, and carotid atherosclerosis (CAS) was defined as mean right or left carotid IMT ≥0.8 mm or the presence of atherosclerotic plaque. Multivariable linear and logistic regression analyses were used to evaluate the association between HOA and IMT and CAS adjusting for age, state, smoking, alcohol consumption, diabetes, hypertension and body mass index. Results: Among participants with a mean age of 51 years (±4), 18.4% met the criteria for HOA, and the prevalence of CAS was 23.1%. After multivariable adjustment, women diagnosed with HOA had 1.6% (95%CI 0.2, 3.1) higher mean IMT than those without the joint disease. Similarly, women with HOA had 35% (95%CI 1.01, 1.81) higher odds of CAS. Sensitivity analyses using a less stringent definition of OA (pain regardless of stiffness), as well as incapacitating pain, did not have a significant association with CAS. Conclusion: Among middle-aged women, HOA was associated with subclinical CVD. This relation might be due to low-grade chronic inflammation, but further research is needed to clarify the underlying mechanisms, the role of screening for HAO as part of cardiovascular risk profiling, and the value of potential interventions such as anti-inflammatory drugs.

El análisis del islam en Sudán muestra la gran variedad de aproximaciones al objeto de estudio, la diversidad de sus lecturas y el reiterado recurso a los principios religiosos para justificar o legitimar las cuestiones políticas y de Estado. El islam sudanés, en sus diferentes manifestaciones, ha traspasado las fronteras nacionales y ha contribuido al islam africano, árabe y mundial. Eso desde el siglo XIX cuando surgió un primer proto-estado islámico de la mano de esa figura mesiánica que fue Muhammad Ahmad Ibn Abdallah, el Mahdi, hasta el pensador y hombre de Estado Hasan al-Turabi en pleno siglo XX. Analizaremos tres dimensiones: el islam reformista de Mahmud Muhammad Taha, el islamismo sudanés conducido por al-Turabi y el papel del sufismo en la religiosidad popular y en la política sudanesa, y su reciente confrontación con las tendencias salafíes activas en el país en lo que parece ser una nueva lucha por el espacio socioreligioso del siglo XXI., The analysis of Islam in Sudan shows the great variety of approaches to the object of study, the diversity of its readings and the repeated recourse to religious principles to justify or legitimize political and State issues. Sudanese Islam, in its different manifestations, has crossed national borders and has contributed to African, Arab and world Islam. This has been like this since the first Islamic proto-state emerged in the Nineteenth century at the hands of the messianic figure who was Muhammad Ahmad Ibn Abdallah, the Mahdi until the thinker and statesman Hasan al-Turabi in the Twentieth century. Three dimensions will be analyzed: the reformist Islam of Mahmud Muhammad Taha, the Sudanese Islamism led by al-Turabi and the role of Sufism in popular religiosity and Sudanese politics, and finally the recent confrontation with the Salafi tendencies active in the country in what seems to be a new struggle for the socio-religious space of the 21st century.

El BIM o Building Information Modeling, es una metodología de trabajo que trata el modelado de información del edificio. Esta metodología impulsada por el desarrollo de las nuevas tecnologías establece un control total sobre la obra de arquitectura ya que gestiona todas las fases de trabajo. Esta herramienta permite desarrollar el trabajo en tiempo real en cualquiera de las áreas que componen un proyecto: construcción, instalaciones, urbanismo… El objetivo del trabajo presentado es analizar y potenciar el uso de las herramientas BIM por los estudiantes de cuarto curso del Grado de Arquitectura en la Universidad de Alicante. Para ello, se emplea la asignatura Acondicionamiento y Servicios III que desarrolla un trabajo de curso que integra todas las áreas de la arquitectura. El enunciado de la práctica propone a los estudiantes escoger un edificio para reacondicionarlo, mejorando su comportamiento térmico y reduciendo su gasto energético. Este trabajo se realiza en parejas lo que permite a los estudiantes el desarrollo de las diferentes partes por separado. El BIM, actualmente, al estar integrándose todavía en el currículum de los estudiantes no es empleado en su totalidad. En esta red se analizan los trabajos entregados en el curso 2017-2018 en base a unas variables-indicadores de uso del BIM, es decir, la complementación del trabajo de las parejas, el desarrollo del proyecto, el cálculo de las instalaciones, la visualización y representación gráfica del proyecto o el análisis de las fases de trabajo. Resulta relevante el análisis de estos indicadores con la finalidad de establecer el grado de madurez que actualmente obtienen los estudiantes utilizando esta metodología de trabajo en el Grado de Arquitectura. A la vista de los resultados presentados se proponen pautas de mejora de la docencia con BIM.

As Cidades Inteligentes apresentam-se como alternativas para o processo de transformação política, econômica, social e ambiental. A Cidade Inteligente adota uma abordagem sistêmica e dinâmica por meio do uso da tecnologia, mas com foco nas pessoas. Mercado e academia produziram diversos conceitos de Cidades Inteligentes, o que acarreta em certa ambiguidade e na falta de clareza do que é uma Cidade Inteligente e quais as características que as diferem das demais. Foram analisadas várias definições de cidades inteligentes presentes na literatura, resultando em um conceito que busca sintetizar os demais. Os rankings de Cidades Inteligentes pretendem verificar quais Cidades/Municípios estão se destacando dos demais em diversas dimensões, fatores ou áreas temáticas. Para tal, é necessário que os indicadores escolhidos sejam relevantes para que o retrato da Cidade seja o mais próximo da realidade. Foram analisados 10 rankings de Cidades Inteligentes ao redor do mundo, cada um com suas especificidades e metodologia próprias de coleta de dados e de apresentação dos resultados. Por se tratar de uma realidade dinâmica e de uma grande quantidade de dados e diversidade de áreas de conhecimento envolvidas, foi proposta a utilização do conceito da Autopoiese Urbana para tratar de indicadores para Cidades Inteligentes com a abordagem sistêmica de Maturana e Varela, resultando na criação de um modelo de Cidade Inteligente Autopoiética baseada em elementos do corpo humano. Abstract : The Smart Cities present themselves as alternatives for the process of political, economic, social and environmental transformation. Smart City takes a systemic and dynamic approach through the use of technology, but with a focus on people. Market and academia have produced several concepts of Smart Cities, which entails a certain ambiguity and lack of clarity of what is a Smart City and which characteristics differ from others. We analyzed several definitions of smart cities present in the literature, resulting in a concept that seeks to synthesize the others. The Smart Cities rankings aim to verify which Cities/Municipalities are standing out from the others in diverse dimensions, factors or thematic areas. For this, it is necessary that the chosen indicators be relevant so that the picture of the City is the closest to reality. Ten rankings of Smart Cities around the world were analyzed, each one with its own specificities and methodology of data collection and presentation of the results. Because it is a dynamic reality, a large amount of data and diversity of knowledge areas involved, it was proposed to use the Urban Autopoiese concept to deal with indicators for Smart Cities with the systemic approach of Maturana and Varela, resulting in the creation of an Autopoietic Smart City model based on elements of the human body.

As telas de sombreamento apresentam-se com perspectivas de possibilitarem altos níveis de produtividade para algumas culturas sensíveis ao excesso de radiação; e representam uma alternativa as condições climáticas que impossibilitam o cultivo a céu aberto. Entretanto, promovem alterações microclimáticas que invariavelmente afetam os componentes do balanço de energia, como os fluxos de calor sensível e latente, implicando em alterações no crescimento, desenvolvimento e produção das culturas. Objetivou-se no presente trabalho, avaliar os efeitos da tela de sombreamento sobre o microclima no cultivo de tomate cereja e estimar equações que correlacionem elementos climáticos dentro e fora do ambiente protegido. Uma estrutura com 12 x 18 m e pé direito 4 m foi construída e coberta com tela de sombreamento Chromatinet cor cinza; sob essa estrutura e a campo aberto foram cultivados em vasos com capacidade para oito litros, dois híbridos de tomate cereja, adotando-se delineamento experimental, blocos casualizados, esquema fatorial 4x2 (taxas de reposição da ETc versus híbridos de tomate), quatro repetições. Em cada ambiente os microclimas foram monitorados por meio de sensores meteorológicos acoplados a sistemas automáticos de coleta de dados. A tela de sombreamento promoveu atenuação de aproximadamente 39% da radiação verificada a campo aberto. O uso da tela de sombreamento promoveu alterações microclimáticas com aumento de temperatura, redução da umidade do ar, radiação global e velocidade do vento. As equações de estimativas revelaram alta correlação entre as variáveis meteorológicas dentro e fora do ambiente protegido.
