In this paper, I track the arrival of the sugar beet in Scandinavia and explore the technical changes, ecological implications and new social arrangements that followed in its wake. Based on ethnographic records and other historical material dealing with agricultural practices, I argue that an ethnological view that takes the agrarian landscape and the organisation of social life together as one analytical totality may be useful for addressing an important question: What are the implications in everyday life of an energy transition into—and out of—fossil-fuelled food production? The analysis demonstrates that the sugar beet arrived along with fossil fuels, steam ploughing, commercial fertiliser, migrant labour and agricultural consultants in a large infrastructural complex that significantly impacted the landscape. These material elements mirrored the historical victory of bourgeois industrial logic over peasant forms of life whose ecological cornerstone was the fallow land. Agricultural land became sleepless in the Anthropocene—and rural life became fossilised.

The presented article is a continuation of the author's previous research on the history of agriculture in Ukraine — a production industry that for centuries has determined the role and place of the Ukrainian ethnic group in the global production of food products and, without exaggeration, is the face of our subjectivity. This survey is dedicated to the bright memory of the outstanding organizer of the sugar industry of Ukraine, a prolific scientist and a productive industrialist Oleksandr Semenovych Zaits (1929—2011). Considering the personalization of the past as one of the most priority areas of modern historical science, the author set herself the goal of researching the life and work path of a person who made every effort for the economic development of his native land. Relying on the fundamental biographical work, prepared and published on the initiative of the grateful children (son and daughter) of Oleksandr Semenovych, the author actualized the problem of the personal factor in the national development of Ukraine: Oleksandr Semenovych the hare is an example of conscientious service to the state and one's own people, a figure worthy of imitation and education of future generations. Applying the method of content analysis, the author processed the printed material available at the Book Chamber of Ukraine (books, magazines, newspapers, printed publications, etc.), which is tangential to the given topic and significantly deepens the announced goal of personalizing the historical past of Ukraine. The scientific achievement of the presented article is the enrichment of the introduced personality of O.Zaytsia with several previously unused bibliographic positions. In general, general and special monographic works, dictionary, materials of scientific and industrial periodicals, newspaper publications and printed posters and leaflets were involved in the work on this investigation., Cтаття продовжує авторські дослідження з історії сільського господарства України — виробничої галузі, що століттями визначає роль і місце українського етносу у світовому виробництві продуктів харчового споживання та без перебільшення є обличчям нашої суб'єктності. Розвідку присвячено світлій пам'яті видатного організатора цукрової промисловості України, плідного науковця та продуктивного виробничника Олександра Семеновича Зайця (1929—2011). Вважаючи персоналізацію минулого одним із найпріоритетніших напрямів сучасної історичної науки, авторка поставила за мету дослідити життєвий і трудовий шлях людини, яка докладала чимало зусиль для економічного розвитку нашої батьківщини. Спираючись на фундаментальну біографічну працю, підготовлену й видану з ініціативи вдячних дітей (сина та доньки) Олександра Семеновича, авторка актуалізувала проблему особистісного чинника в національному розвої України: О. Заєць є прикладом сумлінного служіння державі й народові, постаттю, гідною для наслідування та виховання наступних поколінь. Застосовуючи метод контент-аналізу, авторка опрацювала наявний у Книжковій палаті України друкарський загал (книги, журнали, газети, аркушеві видання тощо), який є дотичним до порушеної теми та суттєво поглиблює оголошену мету на персоналізацію історичного минулого України. Науковим здобутком статті є збагачення уведеної в обіг персоналії О. Зайця кількома раніше не вживаними бібліографічними позиціями. До роботи над пропонованою розвідкою було залучено загальні та спеціальні монографічні праці, довідники, матеріали науково-виробничої періодики, газетні публікації, плакатно-листівкова друкована продукція тощо.

It has been established that sugar beet, when grown in conditions of unstable moisture on podzoliс chernozem, form a high energy productivity of biomass under the use of alternative organic-mineral fertilization systems and require the application of increased doses of nitrogen and potassium fertilizers to form their balanced balance in the soil. The maximum energy productivity of the ‘Bulava’ hybrid was achieved with the application of nitrogen fertilizers in the spring in the pre-sowing cultivation at a dose of 90 kg/ha on the background of 5 t/ha of straw + Filazonite, 10 l/ha + P90K90 under deep ploughing in autumn: bioethanol energy output — 118 GJ/ha, biogas — 54 GJ/ha, total energy output — 172 GJ/ha, exceeding control without fertilizers — by 37, 16 and 53 GJ/ha, respectively., Встановлено, що буряки цукрові за вирощування в умовах нестійкого зволоження на чорноземі опідзоленому формують високу енергетичну продуктивність біомаси за застосовування альтернативних органо-мінеральних систем удобрення та потребують внесення підвищених доз азотних і калійних добрив для формування їх врівноваженого балансу в ґрунті. Максимальної енергетичної продуктивності гібриду Булава досягли за внесення азотних добрив весною в передпосівну культивацію в дозі 90 кг/га на фоні 5 т/га соломи + Філазоніт, 10 л/га + Р90К90 з осені під глибоку оранку: вихід енергії біоетанолу — 118 ГДж/га, біогазу — 54 ГДж/га, сумарний вихід енергії — 172 ГДж/га з перевищенням контролю без добрив — на 37, 16 та 53 ГДж/га, відповідно.

Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are mainly accumulated in soil. Plants secrete enzymes that transform or biodegrade PAHs in soil. Some plant species are more effective in stimulating the biodegradation of these pollutants than other species. This study was undertaken to evaluate the influence of crop rotation on PAH concentrations in soil. Four crops were grown in rotation: sugar beets, spring barley, maize, and spring wheat. Soil samples for the study were obtained from a long-term field experiment established in 1986 in Bałcyny, Poland. The concentrations of PAHs were analyzed in soil samples gathered over a period of 12 years (1998–2009). An attempt was made to evaluate the effect of crop rotation (sugar beets, spring barley, maize, and spring wheat) on PAH concentrations in soil. The content of PAHs in soil samples was measured by gas chromatography with flame ionization detection. Data were processed statistically by repeated measures ANOVA. The concentrations of ∑16 PAHs were lowest in soil after sugar beet cultivation, and highest in soil after maize cultivation. It can be concluded that maize was the plant with the greatest adverse effect on the content of heavy PAH in the soil, a completely different effect can be attributed to spring wheat, which has always been shown to reduce the content of heavy PAH in the soil. Weather conditions affected PAHs levels in soil, and PAH content was highest in soil samples collected in a year with the driest growing season. This arrangement suggests a greater influence of weather conditions than of the cultivated plant.

Purpose. To increase the performance of sugar beet hybrids using integrated approaches to the creation, identification and selection of combination-valuable parents; to evaluate the performance potential of experimental hybrids derived from parents with improved beetroot shape. Materials and methods. The study was conducted in the Laboratory of Sugar Beet Breeding of the Tobacco Experimental Station of the National Research Center “Institute of Agriculture of NAAS” in 2018–2020. Sixty-six experimental diploid sugar beet hybrids originating from parents of different genetic origin were tested in the field. New starting material of sugar beets was created using classical breeding methods and traditional techniques. The experimental CMS-based sugar beet hybrids were evaluated for several economically valuable traits in accordance with the variety trial method developed by scientists of the Institute of Bioenergy Crops and Sugar Beets NAAS. Results and discussion. Analysis of the performance of the sugar beet hybrids originating from the parents with improved beetroot shape (oval-conical) indicates that the beetroot yields, sugar collection and output were significantly higher than those in the group check accession. The sugar content in their beetroots was lower than or similar to that in the group check accession. In general, the yielding type (E) of performance is intrinsic to the hybrids. As to beetroot yield, they exceeded the group check accession by 16.5–23.4%; the sugar collection was higher by 15.1–21.1%; and the sugar output – by 15.0–22.0%. Analysis of the beetroot in these hybrids shows that they had oval-conical beetroots. Their shape index varied 1.11 to 1.24. The beetroots of these hybrids were embedded into the soil by 3/4 of their length, had a smooth surface and shallow grooves (orthostichy). In the experimental sugar beet hybrids derived from the parents with improved beetroot shape (oval-conical), beetroots were longer (L) by 9.5%, larger in the diameter (D) by 2.2%, and the distance from the maximum diameter plane to the beetroot top (B) increased by 61.5% compared to the group check accession. In parallel with changes of the beetroot shape, the beetroot weight (m) increased by 25.0%. The transition from conical beetroots to oval-conical ones was proven to increase the performance of the sugar beet hybrids by 15–21%. Conclusions. We have created 14 high-yielding sugar beet CMS-based hybrids with improved beetroot shape, suitable for energy and environmentally friendly cultivation technologies. Their beetroot yields, sugar collection and sugar output exceed those in the group check accession by 16.5–23.4%, 15.1–21.1% and 15.0–22.0%, respectively, Цель исследований – повышение продуктивности гибридов сахарной свеклы с использованием комплексных подходов формирования, идентификации и отбора комбинационно-ценных родительских компонентов. Оценка продуктивного потенциала экспериментальных гибридов сахарной свеклы, созданных на основе родительских компонентов с улучшенной формой корнеплода. Материалы и методика. Исследования проводили на Опытной станции табаководства ННЦ «ИЗ НААН» в лаборатории селекции сахарной свеклы в 2018–2020гг. К полевым опытам привлечены 66 экспериментальных диплоидных гибридов сахарной свеклы, созданных на основе родительских компонентов разного генетического происхождения. Создание нового исходного материала сахарной свеклы проведено с использованием классических методов селекции по общепринятым методикам. Экспериментальные гибриды сахарной свеклы на ЦМС основе изучены по комплексу ценных хозяйственных признаков соответственно методикам сортоиспытания, разработанных в Институте биоэнергетических культур и сахарной свеклы НААН. Обсуждение результатов. Анализ продуктивности гибридов сахарной свеклы, созданных на основе родительских компонентов с улучшенной формой корнеплода (овально-коническая) показывает, что по урожайности корнеплодов, сбору и выходу сахара они существенно превышают групповой стандарт. Сахаристость их корнеплодов была ниже или на уровне группового стандарта. В целом, гибриды характеризуются урожайным направлением (Е) продуктивности. По урожайности корнеплодов они превышали групповой стандарт на 16,5–23,4%, сбору сахара на 15,1–21,1% и выходу сахара на 15,0–22,0%. По анализу параметров формы корнеплода гибридов данного типа установлено, что они характеризуются овально-конической формой. Показатели индекса формы корнеплода в них варьировали в пределах 1,11–1,24. Корнеплоды этих гибридов заглублены в почву на 3/4 длины, имеют гладкую поверхность и мелкую корневую бороздку (ортостиху). У экспериментальных гибридов сахарной свеклы, сформированных на базе родительских компонентов с улучшенной формой корнеплода (овально-коническая), увеличилась длина корнеплода (L) на 9,5%, диаметр корнеплода (D) – на 2,2%, расстояние от плоскости максимального диаметра корнеплода до вершины головки (В) на 61,5% по сравнению с групповым стандартом. С изменением параметров формы корнеплода увеличилась и его масса (m) на 25,0%. Установлено, что изменение формы корнеплода родительских компонентов с конической на овально-коническую приводит к повышению продуктивности гибридов сахарной свеклы на 15–21 %. Выводы. Создано 14 высокопродуктивных гибридов сахарной свеклы на ЦМС основе с улучшенной формой корнеплода, пригодные для энерго- и экологощадящих технологий выращивания. Они превышают групповой стандарт по урожайности корнеплодов на 16,5–23,4%, сбору сахара на 15,1–21,1% и выходу сахара на 15,0–22,0%, Мета дослідження – підвищення продуктивності гібридів цукрових буряків із застосуванням комплексних підходів формування, ідентифікації та добору комбінаційно-цінних батьківських компонентів. Дослідження проводили на Дослідній станції тютюнництва ННЦ «ІЗ НААН» у лабораторії селекції цукрових буряків у 2018–2020 рр. Вихідним матеріалом для польових дослідів були 66 експериментальних диплоїдних гібридів цукрових буряків, створених на основі батьківських компонентів різного генетичного походження. Створення нового вихідного матеріалу цукрових буряків проведено із застосуванням класичних методів селекції за загальноприйнятими методиками. Експериментальні гібриди цукрових буряків на ЦЧС основі досліджено за комплексом цінних господарських ознак відповідно до методик сортовипробування, розроблених в Інституті біоенергетичних культур та цукрових буряків НААН. Обговорення результатів. Аналіз продуктивності гібридів цукрових буряків, створених на основі батьківських компонентів з поліпшеною формою коренеплоду (овально-конічною) доводить, що за врожайністю коренеплодів, збору та виходу цукру вони істотно перевищують груповий стандарт. Цукристість цих коренеплодів була нижчою або на рівні групового стандарту. В цілому, гібриди характеризуються врожайною спрямованістю (Е) продуктивності. За врожайністю коренеплодів вони перевищували груповий стандарт на 16,5–23,4%, збором цукру – на 15,1–21,1% та виходом цукру – на 15,0–22,0%. За аналізом параметрів форми коренеплоду гібридів даного типу встановлено, що вони є овально-конічними. Показники індексу форми коренеплоду в них варіювали в межах 1,11–1,24. Коренеплоди цих гібридів заглиблюються в землю на 3/4 довжини, мають гладеньку поверхню та мілку кореневу боріздку (ортостиху). В експериментальних гібридів цукрових буряків, сформованих на основі батьківських компонентів з поліпшеною формою коренеплоду (овально-конічною), збільшувалась довжина коренеплоду (L) на 9,5%, його діаметр (D) – на 2,2%, відстань від площини максимального діаметра коренеплоду до вершини голівки (В) на 61,5% у порівнянні з груповим стандартом. Зі зміною параметрів форми коренеплоду збільшилася і його маса (m) на 25,0%. Установлено, що зміна форми коренеплоду батьківських компонентів з конічної на овально-конічну призводить до підвищення продуктивності гібридів цукрових буряків на 15–21 %. Висновки. Створено 14 високопродуктивних гібридів цукрових буряків на ЦЧС основі з поліпшеною формою коренеплоду, придатних для енерго- та екологозберігаючих технологій вирощування. Вони перевищують груповий стандарт за врожайністю коренеплодів на 16,5–23,4%, збором цукру на 15,1–21,1% та виходом цукру на 15,0–22,0%

Purpose. Establish the impact of basic tillage and weed protection measures on soil density in winter wheat and sugar beet crops. Investigate the criteria for the formation of winter wheat and sugar beet productivity depending on weather conditions, measures of basic tillage and protection against weeds. Methods. Field, laboratory. Results. Soil density for the period of winter wheat harvesting for plowing to a depth of 20–22cm and direct sowing was in the same range at the level of 1.22 and 1.23g/cm3, which can be explained by the peculiarity of the soil and the root system of the plants themselves. In sugar beet crops, the combination of plowing to a depth of 25–27 cm with subsequent shelfless loosening at 34–36cm makes it possible to maintain the density of the arable soil at the level of equilibrium for this type of soil. In other treatments, the soil density increases to 1.27 and 1.28g/cm3, with compaction of the upper 0–10cm layer of soil to 1.25 g/cm3 for plowing by 30–32cm and 1.29g/cm3 – for shelf-free loosening by 34–36cm, which has a negative impact on the productivity of sugar beets. Conclusions. With the optimal sowing period for the conditions of Kyiv region on September 12–15, the most optimal sowing rate remains 4.5 million units. nas./ha, for increase in density of standing of plants we note lodging of plants and damp years and essential shortage of grain in arid. According to our research, the main tillage for winter wheat plowing by 20–22 cm remains the most rational for obtaining stable yields of winter wheat (yield was 5.03 t/ha). At the same time, good predecessors of peas for grain, rape, buckwheat can be used direct sowing with the introduction of herbicide continuous action Roundup, 48% v.r. 3.0 l/ha. The highest productivity of sugar beets was obtained by using the main tillage plowing by 25–27 cm + shelfless loosening by 34–36 cm yield of root crops at the level of 52.13–51.73 t/ha, sugar content – 14.80–14.83%, sugar harvest – 7.73–7.81 t/ha. On deep medium loam chernozems, this tillage allows to ensure optimal agrophysical indicators of the soil, remove the plow sole, earn crop residues and ensure yields in arid conditions. Application of sugar-free loosening to sugar beets to a depth of 34–36 cm reduces the yield of root crops by 5.32 and 7.20 t/ha compared to plowing to a depth of 30–32 cm, which is associated with an increase in weediness of crops and soil density., Мета. Установити вплив заходів основного обробітку ґрунту і захисту від бур’янів на показники щільності ґрунту в посівах пшениці озимої та цукрових буряків. Дослідити критерії формування продуктивності пшениці озимої та цукрових буряків залежно від погодних умов, заходів основного обробітку ґрунту і захисту від бур’янів. Методи. Польові, лабораторні. Результати. Щільність ґрунту на період збирання пшениці озимої як за оранки на глибину 20–22см, так і прямого посіву була в однакових межах на рівні 1,22 і 1,23г/см3, що можна пояснити особливістю ґрунту і кореневою системою самих рослин. У посівах цукрових буряків поєднання оранки на глибину 25–27см із подальшим безполицевим розпушуванням на 34–36см дає можливість зберегти щільність ґрунту в орному шарі на рівні рівноважної для даного типу ґрунту. За інших обробітків щільність ґрунту підвищується до 1,27 і 1,28г/см3, із ущільненням верхнього 0–10см шару ґрунту до 1,25г/см3 за оранки на 30–32см та 1,29г/см3 – за безполицевого розпушування на 34–36см, що має негативний вплив не продуктивність цукрових буряків. Висновки. За оптимального строку посіву для умов Київської області 12–15 вересня найефективнішою нормою висіву залишається 4,5млншт.нас./га, за збільшення густоти стояння рослин відмічаємо вилягання рослин у вологі роки і суттєвий недобір зерна у посушливі. За нашими дослідженнями основний обробіток ґрунту під пшеницю озиму оранка на 20–22см залишається найбільш раціональною для отримання стабільних врожаїв пшениці озимої (урожайність становила 5,03т/га). Водночас за гарних попередників горох на зерно, ріпак, гречка можна використовувати прямий посів із внесенням гербіциду суцільної дії Раундап, 48% в.р. 3,0л/га. Найбільшу продуктивність цукрових буряків отримано за використання основного обробітку ґрунту оранка на 25–27см + безполицеве розпушення на 34–36см: урожайність коренеплодів на рівні 52,13–51,73т/га, цукристість – 14,80–14,83%, збір цукру – 7,73–7,81т/га. На чорноземах глибоких середньосуглинкових даний обробіток дозволяє забезпечити оптимальні агрофізичні показники ґрунту, зняти плужну підошву, заробити рослинні залишки та забезпечити урожайність в посушливих умовах. Застосування під цукрові буряки безполицевого розпушування на глибину 34–36см знижує урожайність коренеплодів на 5,32 і 7,20т/га порівняно до оранки на глибину 30–32см, що пов’язано як із збільшенням забур’яненості посівів, так і щільності ґрунту.

In accordance with Article 6 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005, the applicant Syngenta Crop Protection AG submitted a request to the competent national authority in France to set import tolerances for the active substance fludioxonil in sugar beet roots and bananas. The data submitted in support of the request were found to be sufficient to derive maximum residue level (MRL) proposals for sugar beet roots and bananas. Adequate analytical methods for enforcement are available to control the residues of fludioxonil in the commodities under consideration at the validated limit of quantification (LOQ) of 0.01 mg/kg and in animal matrices at the validated LOQ of 0.01 mg/kg in milk and muscle and 0.05 mg/kg in liver, kidney, fat tissues and eggs. Based on the risk assessment results, EFSA concluded that the long‐term intake of residues resulting from the use of fludioxonil according to the reported agricultural practices is unlikely to present a risk to consumer health.

This article presents the relevance of the issue of inhibition of microbiological processes at different stages of processing of sugar-containing raw materials, in particular ensuring the microbiological purity of juices and syrups in the production of sugar substances. Information on the composition of microbiota contaminating raw materials in the production of beet sugar, raw cane sugar, food syrups from sugar sorghum is analyzed. Experimental data on the evaluation of the effectiveness of a number of antimicrobial preparations in terms of growth retardation of pure cultures of microorganisms and the effect of disinfection during the introduction of preparations are presented. The greatest danger in production is caused by the development of spore-forming and mucus-forming bacteria, which led to the choice of research objects. Thus, the effect of antimicrobial preparations on microorganisms: mesophilic bacteria Bacillus subtilis, B. megatherium, thermophilic bacteria B. stearothermophilus, mucus-forming bacteria of the genus Leuconostos, was investigated. In addition, the effect of antimicrobials on mycelial fungi of the genus Aspergillus was studied. Based on the conducted experimental studies, the range of costs of the studied antimicrobial preparation for the suppression of contaminating microflora in the production of sugar and food syrups from vegetable raw materials was determined

Пояснювальна записка складається з вступу, п’яти розділів, що містять 3 рисунка, 8 таблиць, висновків і списку літературних джерел. В роботі описано і обґрунтовано технологію виробництва біоетанолу, що використовується як добавка до пального, в якості сировини обрано цукрові буряки. Наведено характеристику цукрових буряків як сировини для утворення біоетанолу. Розраховано матеріальний баланс процесу, наведено та описано технологічну та апаратурну схеми виробництва біоетанолу, описано заходи по охороні праці та довкілля. Розраховано ферментер об’ємом 100 м3. The diploma project consists of 74 sheets of explanatory note, using 68 literature sources and 3 sheets of drawings A1. The explanatory note consists of an introduction, five sections containing 3 figures, 8 tables, conclusions and a list of references. The technology of bioethanol production for use as a fuel additive, with the use of sugar beets as a raw material is selected and substantiated in the work. The characteristics of sugar beets as a raw material for the formation of biogethanol are given. The material balance of the process is calculated, the technological and equipment schemes of bioethanol production are given and described, the measures on labor protection and environment are described. A 100 m3 fermenter is designed.

Purpose. To determine the influence of elements of cultivation technology on the photosynthetic activity of sugar beet crops.Methods. Field, laboratory.Results. Studies show that by the third decade of June, sugar beet plants on average have formed a leaf surface at the level of 3.5 thousand cm2/plant, which is sufficient for effective photosynthesis. But in the third decade of July, it increased and on the average in the experiment on the ungrounded variants amounted to 4.1, and in the fertilized 5.3 and 5.5 thousand cm2/plant. The analysis shows that as of the third decade of August, the area of the leaf surface was maximum compared to other time intervals, amounting to 4.4, and 6.0 and 6.3 thousand cm2/plant fertilized respectively. Photosynthetic potential for the period from the third decade of June to the third decade of July in the version without the use of mineral fertilizers the best were: Sofia, Umansky BS97, ICB 0801, Vesto and Zluka, using N150P150K150: Hero. Sofia, Uman BS97, ICB 0801, Vesto and Zluka, but for the introduction of N300P300K300: Hero. Sofia, Uman ES97, ICB 0801, Vesto, Zluka and Uman ES90. But from the third decade of July to the third decade of August, the photosynthetic potential was 0.95–2.63 million m2 × days/ha, due to the fact that the leaf area increased slightly, by 0.3–0.8 thousand. cm2/plant. In terms of net photosynthesis performance in the period from the third decade of July to the third decade of August, the maximum values were in the experiment compared to other intervals. So, the best dry matter per unit area of leaf surface accumulated the following hybrids: Hero (5,21–7,25), Constant (3.09–4.94), Mace (3.67–5.68), Romulus (3,27–4.54) and Uman FM90 (2.87–4.33 g/m2 per day).Conclusions. It was established that in the third decade of August the maximum leaf area was in hybrids: Alexandria, Umansky Emergency 90, Zluka, ICB 0801, Romulus, Quarto and Sofia. But from the third decade of August to the third decade of September, the maximum values of photosynthetic potential were in the following hybrids: Sofia (1.68), Ukrainian World Cup72 (1.13), Romulus (1.35), Quart (1.35) and Zluka ( 1,13). From the third decade of September to the third decade of October, the best net photosynthesis productivity was observed in hybrids: Vesto (0.42–1.19) and Quart (0.98–1.08 g/m2 per day)., Мета. Дослідження показують, що на третю декаду червня рослини буряків цукрових в середньому по досліду формували листкову поверхню на рівні 3,5 тис. см2/рослину, що цілком достатньо для ефективного фотосинтезу. А от на третю декаду липня збільшилась та в середньому по досліду на неудобрених варіантах становила 4,1, а на удобрених 5,3 та 5,5 тис. см2/рослину. Аналіз показує, що площа листкової поверхні станом на третю декаду серпня була максимальною порівняно з іншими часовими інтервалами та становила на неудобрених варіантах 4,4, а на удобрених відповідно 6,0 та 6,3 тис. см2/рослину. За фотосинтетичним потенціалом за проміжок часу від третьої декади червня до третьої декади липня на варіанті без застосування мінеральних добрив кращими були: Софія, Уманський ЧС97, ІЦБ 0801, Весто та Злука, за застосування N150P150K150: Герой. Софія, Уманський ЧС97, ІЦБ 0801, Весто та Злука, а от за внесення N300P300K300: Герой. Софія, Уманський ЧС97, ІЦБ 0801, Весто, Злука та Уманський ЧС90. А от з третьої декади липня по третю декаду серпня фотосинтетичний потенціал становив 0,95–2,63 млн. м2 × діб/га, що пов’язано з тим що площа листкової поверхні зросла незначно, на 0,3–0,8 тис. см2/рослину. За чистою продуктивністю фотосинтезу в проміжок часу з третьої декади липня по третю декаду серпня максимальні значення були в досліді порівняно інших проміжків часу. Так, найкраще суху речовину одиницею площі листкової поверхні накопичували наступні гібриди: Герой (5,21–7,25), Константа (3,09–4,94), Булава (3,67–5,68), Ромул (3,27–4,54) та Уманський ЧС90 (2,87–4,33 г/м2 за добу).Висновки. Встановлено, що на третю декаду серпня максимальна площа листя була у гібридів: Олександрія, Уманський ЧС 90, Злука, ІЦБ 0801, Ромул, Кварта та Софія. А от з третьої декади серпня по третю декаду вересня максимальні значення фотосинтетичного потенціалу були в наступних гібридів: Софія (1,68), Український ЧС72 (1,13), Ромул (1,35), Кварта (1,35) та Злука (1,13). З третьої декади вересня по третю декаду жовтня кращі показники чистої продуктивності фотосинтезу були в гібридів: Весто (0,42–1,19) та Кварта (0,98–1,08 г/м2 за добу).

Intensive cultivation of sugar beets requires constant improvement of its components, the search for new reserves to increase yields and sugar content. Sowing to a stand is one of the important links of intensive technology. High field germination of seeds is its determining factor, which, it is a necessary condition for sowing to a stand. The use of plant growth regulators is one of the reserves for increasing the yield and sugar content of sugar beets. However, stimulating the growth, development and productivity of crops is provided at the appropriate doses, timing and methods of application of growth regulators. The synthetic drugs under certain conditions can be harmful to the environment, humans and animals. Inoculation of sugar beet seeds with bacterial preparations allows to realize the possibility of the biologically active substances effect on the plant during almost the entire growing season. According to the results of research, inoculation of sugar beet seeds by Polymixobacterin caused an increase by 9,6–13,9 % in field germination, and joint inoculation of sugar beet seeds by Polymixobacterin and Agrofil increases field germination by 11,9–17,2 % in the area of insufficient moisture of the right bank forest-steppe of Ukraine under different systems of organic and mineral fertilizers. The application of such as bacterial preparations as Polymixobacterin and Agrofil can be recommended as an element of cultivation biologization for creating environmentally friendly technologies for sugar beets growing., Вирощування цукрових буряків за інтенсивною технологією вимагає постійного вдосконалення її складових, пошуку нових резервів підвищення врожайності та цукристості. Однією із важливих ланок інтенсивної технології є сівба на кінцеву густоту стояння. Визначальним фактором цієї ланки є висока польова схожість насіння, яка, насамперед, є необхідною умовою реального сприйняття терміну — «сівба на кінцеву густоту». Одним із резервів підвищення врожайності і цукристості цукрових буряків є використання регуляторів росту рослин. Але слід враховувати, що стимулювання росту, розвитку та підвищення продуктивності сільськогосподарських культур забезпечується при відповідних дозах, строках і способах застосування регуляторів росту, а також те, що синтетичні препарати за певних умов можуть бути шкідливими для довкілля, людини і тварин. Інокуляція насіння цукрових буряків бактеріальними препаратами дозволяє реалізувати можливість впливу комплексу біологічно-активних речовин на рослину на протязі майже усього періоду вегетації. За результатами досліджень установлено, що в зоні недостатнього зволоження Правобережного Лісостепу України за різних систем органо-мінерального удобрення інокуляція насіння буряків цукрових Поліміксобактерином сприяла підвищенню польової схожості на 9,6-13,9%, а сумісна інокуляція насіння буряків цукрових Поліміксобактерином і Агрофілом сприяє підвищенню польової схожості на 11,9-17,2%. Використання бактеріальних препаратів Поліміксобактерином і Агрофілом можна рекомендувати як елемент біологізації землеробства та для створення екологічно безпечних технологій вирощування цукрових буряків

The purpose of the research was to create new genotypes of sugar beet multi-shoot pollinators with improved root shape parameters. Study of the nature of changes in biometric indicators of root shape in recombinant beet materials and determination of their productive potential.Materials and methods. The research were conducted at the Tobacco Experimental Station of the NRC «IA NAAS» during 2017–2019. The solution of the tasks on creation of new genotypes of sugar beet multi-shoot pollinators with the improved parameters of the root shape is carried out by inclusion in selection process of fodder beet biotypes as donors of valuable selection and genetic signs.Five diploid sugar beet multi-shoot populations of various genetic origins and three fodder beet multi-shoot components of variety Slavia were involved in field experiments. Creation of sugar-fodder hybrids (F1) and subsequent backcrosses (generation BC1 and BC2) were carried out under paired insulators and in spatially isolated areas. Varietal testing of initial forms and hybrids was performed according to the method developed by scientists of IBC&SB of NAAS.Results and discussion. New sugar beet multi-shoot pollinators of generations BC1 and BC2 with an oval-conical root shape and high basic plant productivity have been created. Their roots in biometric indicators significantly differed from the original forms of sugar beets (BZ): increased root length (L) by 9.6 % and 8.7 %, respectively, and the distance from the plane of the maximum root diameter to the top of the head (B) – by 38.7 %. Also, with the change of the root shape, their weight increased (by 22.6% in BC1 and 19.4 % in BC2). These materials in terms of root yield exceeded the group standard by 15.7% and 12.7%, sugar collection – by 12.0% and 12.9%, respectively. This gives prospects, using these breeding materials as parent components, further growth of the productive potential of new sugar beet hybrids on the basis of CMS.Conclusions. The use of recombinant beet materials of sugar-fodder type in the selection makes it possible to expand the genetic potential and improve sugar beet by the manifestation of the most important selection-genetic and economically valuable traits, Целью исследований было создание новых генотипов многоростковых опылителей сахарной свеклы с улучшенными параметрами формы корнеплода. Изучение характера изменения биометрических показателей формы корнеплода у рекомбинантных материалов и определения их продуктивного потенциала.Материалы и методика. Исследования проводили на Опытной станции табаководства ННЦ «ИЗ НААН» в 2017–2019 гг. Решение поставленных задач по созданию новых генотипов многоростковых опылителей сахарной свеклы с улучшенными параметрами формы корнеплода проведено путем включения в селекционный процесс биотипов кормовой свеклы как доноров ценных селекционно-генетических признаков.К полевым опытам были привлечены пять диплоидных многоростковых популяций сахарной свеклы разного генетического происхождения и три многоростковых компонента сорта кормовой свеклы Славия. Создание сахарно-кормовых гибридов (F1) и последующие беккроссы (поколение ВС1 и ВС2) проведены под парными бязевыми изоляторами и на пространственно изолированных участках. Сортоиспытания исходных форм и гибридов выполнено по методике, разработанной учеными ИБК и СС НААН.Обсуждение результатов. Созданы новые многоростковых опылители сахарной свеклы поколения ВС1 и ВС2 с овально-конической формой корнеплода и высокой базисной продуктивностью растений. Их корнеплоды по биометрическим показателях существенно отличались от исходных образцов сахарной свеклы (БЗ): увеличились длина корнеплода (L) на 9,6 % и 8,7 % соответственно и расстояние от плоскости максимального диаметра корнеплода к вершине головки (В) – на 38,7 %. Также с изменением формы корнеплода увеличилась их масса (на 22,6 % в ВС1 и 19,4 % в ВС2). Эти материалы по урожайности корнеплодов превышали групповой стандарт на 15,7 % и 12,7 %, сбору сахара – на 12,0 % и 12,9 % соответственно. Это дает перспективы дальнейшего роста продуктивного потенциала новых гибридов сахарной свеклы на ЦМС основе путем использования данных селекционных материалов в качестве родительских компонентовВыводы. Использование в селекции рекомбинантных материалов свеклы сахарно-кормового типа дает возможность расширить генетический потенциал и улучшить сахарную свеклу по проявлению наиболее важных селекционно-генетических и ценных хозяйственных признаков., Представлено результати досліджень з оцінки вихідного матеріалу буряків цукрових і кормових та гібридів, отриманих на їх основі, за формою коренеплоду і рівнем продуктивності. Створено рекомбінантні матеріали буряків з поліпшеними параметрами форми коренеплоду, вивчено характер зміни їх біометричних показників. Доведено підвищення рівня продуктивності буряків цукрових зі зміною форми коренеплоду з конічної на овально-конічну. Відібрано високопродуктивні багаторосткові запилювачі буряків цукрових покоління ВС1 і ВС2 з поліпшеними параметрами форми коренеплоду.

In this study environmental efficiency of main root crop (sugar beets and potatoes) cultivation in Poland is evaluated. Survey data from 62 sugar beet and 74 potato farms in the years 2016 and 2017 were used for analysis. To assess efficiency, the slack based Data Envelopment Analysis model (SBM-DEA) was used, where greenhouse gas emissions were assumed as undesirable output. The reasons for inefficiency in cultivation were explained using the fractional regression model (FRM), with habitat and organizational conditions as independent variables. Differences in the structure of greenhouse gas emissions from the crops under study were indicated as a result of differences in technology used at each farm. The estimated average carbon footprint on the analysed farms for sugar beet cultivation was 0.057 (±0.042) kg CO2 e/kg and 0.13 (±0.17) kg CO2 e/kg for potato cultivation. The obtained results indicate that effective farms growing sugar beet emit, on average, 14.5% less greenhouse gases, achieving a slightly higher yield. In potato cultivation, this reduction is 15.3% with a 27% increase in yield. It has been shown that weather conditions and the economic size of farms can significantly affect the environmental efficiency of both analysed crops.

Для проведения исследований нами на основании мониторинга свеклосеющих хозяйств республики Казахстан отобраны два региона, в частности, хозяйства Жамбылской и Алматинской областей, так как в этих областях расположены крупные заводы по переработке сахарной свеклы. Целью работы является изучение фитосанитарного состояния районированных сортов семян сахарной свеклы, полученных из свеклосеющих хозяйств Алматинской и Жамбылской областей перед посадкой. Объектами исследований являлись почвенные образцы, отобранные в свеклосеющих хозяйствах Алматинской и Жамбылской области. Количественный учет микроорганизмов проводили методом высева на питательные среды, подобранные в соответствии с их видом. Таким образом, выявлены некоторые особенности формирования патогенного комплекса микроскопических грибов в почве в свеклосеющих хозяйствах Алматинской и Жамбылской областей. Микробные сообщества почвы в двух областях представлены такими микроорганизмами, как бактерии родов: Pseudomonas, Bacillus, Mycobacterium, Mycococcus, Pseudobacterium, Lactobacterium. Показано, что в почвенных образцах превалируют Bacillus и Pseudomonas. Установлено, что доминантами видами микроорганизмов являются грибы родов: Fusarium, Alternaria, Penicillium, которые входят в патокомплекс возбудителей гнилей корнеплодов. В образцах почвы № 1–4 Алматинской области преобладали грибы рода Fusarium, а в Жамбылской области – Botrytis. На основании полученных данных будет разработан защитно-стимулирующий состав по снижению заболеваемости семян сахарной свеклы перед посевом. In the last few years, beet-growing farms in Kazakhstan have suffered great losses from widespread diseases of sugar beet, which lead to the death of plants in the field. we selected two regions, in particular, the farms of Zhambyl and Almaty regions, as these areas have large sugar beet processing plants. The purpose of this work is to study the phytosanitary condition of zoned varieties of sugar beet families obtained from beet-growing farms in Almaty and Zhambyl regions before planting. The objects of research were soil samples selected in beet-growing farms of Almaty and Zhambyl region. Quantitative accounting of microorganisms was carried out by seeding on nutrient media selected in accordance with their type. Thus, some features of formation of pathogenic complex of microscopic fungi in soil in beet-growing farms of Almaty and Zhambyl regions are revealed. Soil microbial communities in two areas are represented by microorganisms such as bacteria genera: Pseudomonas, Bacillus, Mycobacterium, Mycococcus, Pseudobacterium, Lactobacterium. It is shown that Bacillus and Pseudomona prevail in soil samples.It is established that the dominant species of microorganisms are: fungi genera: Fusarium, Alternaria, Penicillium which are included in the pathogen pathogen of root rot. On the basis of the obtained data, a protective and stimulating composition for reducing the incidence of sugar beet seeds before sowing will be developed in soil samples No. 1– 4 of Almaty. Kukuruz je jednogodišnja kultura koja kao plod daje zrno. Zrno u prosjeku sadrži 70-75% ugljikohidrata, oko 15% mineralnih tvari, 10% bjelančevina i 5% ulja. Koristan je i u ljudskoj prehrani, a to govori i činjenica da se za ovu namjenu svakodnevno povećava i širi proizvodna paleta. Prisutan je u prehrambenoj, farmaceutskoj i kozmetičkoj te tekstilnoj industriji. Zadnjih godina značajno raste udio korištenja kukuruza za potrebe industrije alkohola te proizvodnju bioplina. Ovim laobratorijskim istraživanjem u Centralnom laboratoriju za poljoprivrednu tehniku i obnovljive izvore energije, ispitivajući različite sadržaje, utvrđena je optimalna radna brzina sjetve uljane repice primjenom sijačice PSK OLT s obzirom na dobivena odstupanja od teorijskih razmaka. Temeljem rezultata može se zaključiti da prijenosni omjeri pogonskog kotača i sjetvene ploče nisu utjecali na ostvarenje prosječnog razmaka u sjetvi. Najveći utjecaj na ostvarenje prosječnog razmaka u sjetvi utvrđen je kod izbora brzina gibanja sijačice u sjetvi. Sa znanstvenog stajališta u istraživanju nisu mjerene vrijednosti podtlaka tako da se dio odstupanja može pripisati i kao pogreška koja je uvjetovana jačim ili slabijim priljubljivanjem sjemenki na sjetvenoj ploči., Maize i san annual crop which produce is grain. This laboratory research in the practicum of the Department of Mechanization, examining different contents, determined the optimal working speed of sowing oilseed rape using a PSK OLT seed drill with respect to the obtained deviations from the theoretical distances. Based on the results, it can be concluded that the gear ratios of the drive wheel and the seed plate did not affect the realization of the average sowing distance. The greatest influence on the realization of the average sowing distance was determined when choosing the speed of the seed drill in sowing. From a scientific point of view, the values of vacuum were not measured in the research, so part of the deviation can be attributed as an error caused by stronger or weaker adhesion of seeds on the seed plate.

In addition, texture profile analysis (TPA) of cooked meat emulsions was carried out to find a possible relationship between the dynamic rheological data and TPA parameters. All studied emulsions exhibited non-Newtonian, pseudoplastic behavior since apparent viscosity decreased with increasing shear rate. The Ostwald-de Waele model was successfully used to describe the flow properties of meat emulsions (R-2 > 0.913). Emulsion systems were characterized as weak gel-like macromolecular dispersions with storage modulus (G') much greater than loss modulus (G"). A modified Cox-Merz rule was applied by multiplying angular frequency with shift factors (alpha(SF)). Material stiffness parameter (A(alpha)) calculated from complex modulus (G*) increased as SBF concentration increased. Significant correlations among the material stiffness data and TPA parameters were observed. It was concluded that TPA parameters could be predicted by using dynamic shear tests, and hence, this will make possible to save time and cost for meat processors when manufacturing a product with acceptable structural or textural characteristics. Over the last two decades or so, there has been many research carried out to understand the mechanics and spatial distribution of soil loss by water erosion and to a lesser extent of wind, piping and tillage erosion. The acquired knowledge helped the development of prediction tools useful to support decision-makers in both ex-ante and ex-post policy evaluation. In Europe, recent studies have modelled water, wind and tillage erosion at continental scale and shed new light on their geography. However, to acquire a comprehensive picture of soil erosion threats more processes need to be addressed and made visible to decision-makers. Since 1986, a small number of studies have pointed to an additional significant soil degradation process occurring when harvesting root and tuber crops. Field observations and measurements have shown that considerable amounts of soil can be removed from the field due to soil sticking to the harvested roots and the export of soil clods during the crop harvest. This study aims to scale up the findings of past studies, carried out at plot, regional, and national level, in order to obtain some preliminary insights into the magnitude of soil loss from cropland due to sugar beets and potatoes harvesting in Europe. We address this issue at European Union (EU) scale taking into account long-term (1975-2016) crop statistics of sugar beet and potato aggregated at regional and country levels. During the period 2000-2016, sugar beets and potatoes covered in average ca. 4.2 million ha (3.81%) of the EU-28 arable land estimated at 110 million ha. The total Soil Loss by Crop Harvesting (SLCH) is estimated at ca. 14.7 million tons yr-1 in the EU-28. The Polish sugar sector has been under the influence of the world market for many years. The reform of the sugar market regulation system in the EU has made the EU and domestic markets increasingly dependent on the world market. The production potential of the domestic sugar industry is greater than the demand on the internal market and the excess supply is directed to exports. The global market is characterized by cyclical fluctuations, which are determined by the cyclical nature of sugar cane cultivation. The length of the business cycle has been reduced to 2-3 years. The world market prices affect domestic sales and export prices and the financial performance of the sugar industry. / Streszczenie. W historii gospodarczej świata cukier jest uznawany za jeden z pierwszych produktów globalnych, a sytuacja podażowo-popytowa na światowym rynku miała duży wpływ na rozwój rynków lokalnych. Polski sektor cukrowniczy od wielu lat pozostaje pod wpływem rynku światowego. Reforma systemu regulacji rynku cukru w UE spowodowała, że rynek unijny i krajowy w coraz większym stopniu są uzależnione od sytuacji na rynku światowym. В статье рассмотрены тенденции развития рынка продукции растениеводства. Отмечено, что площади сельскохозяйственных земель в ЕС сокращаются, ожидается, что производство и экспорт зерновых возрастет за счет увеличения спроса на зерновые, как в промышленных целях, так и для кормов; производство сахара – снижено, вследствие снижения его потребления. Установлено, что на производство оливкового масла в ЕС приходится две трети мирового производства, а вследствие его полезности для населения ожидается повышенный рост спроса, а соответственно и экспорта; вследствие производства качественного европейского вина спрос на его потребление стабилизируется и в перспективе ожидается рост его производства и урожайности на 19,6% и 32%. Анализ производства фруктов показал, что в перспективе незначительно сократятся производственные площади, что незначительно скажется на снижении их производства; также ожидается снижение производства и потребления свежих помидоров. It is noted in the present paper that agricultural land in the EU is declining; grain production and exports are expected to increase due to increased demand for grain, both for industrial purposes and for feed; sugar production is reduced due to a decrease in its consumption. It is stated in the research that the production of olive oil in the EU accounts for two-thirds of world production, and due to its health benefits, an increased growth in demand for it and, consequently, export is expected; the demand for high-quality European wine consumption is considered to stabilize and in the future its production and yielding capacity are expected to rise by 19,6% and 32%. The conducted analysis of fruit production revealed that in the future production areas will slightly fall, which will insignificantly affect their production decline; a decrease in the production and consumption of fresh tomatoes is expected as well. In sugar beet (Beta vulgaris) weed control is commonly performed by herbicide application applied broadcast at splitting during the cultivation period. Mechanical weeding can be an alternative to chemical weed control. The aim of this experiment was the estimation of weed control efficacy with the use of automatic steering technologies by camera guidance, the use of different intra row weed control implements in conservation tillage systems and the influence of these techniques to the number of uprooted sugar beets. A field experiment with a randomized complete plot design was conducted in 2015 at Ihinger Hof, Germany. Weed density ranged from 0 to 12 plants m-2 with Chenopodium album, Polygonum convolvulus, Polygonum aviculare as the most abundant weed species. Hoeing with the use of automatic steering technologies reduced the weed density by 82%. The use of finger weeders, rotary-harrow and torsion finger weeder reduced the weed density by 29% compared to common hoeing strategies. Differences in the number of uprooted sugar beets were not found across all treatments. We revealed the possibility of a more intense use of mechanical weeding technologies in combination with precision farming technologies in sugar beet.

Introduction. The Ukrainian sugar-beet sub-complex has been lately deformed. The sugar-beet sown area has been decreased, their zones have been diminished. Despecialization and respecialization of the farms have taken place. Raw material zones have been changed greatly. Many sugar-refineries have diminished in sugar production. All these factors became the reason of interbranch and interindustry relations, and the appearance of the integrated communities in different spheres of national economy. Purpose. Summing up the theoretical aspects of the integrated communities in the sugar-beet sub-complex creation, and the estimation of their integrated ties effectiveness. Results. Nowadays economic interaction of beet-undertakings and sugar-refineries are developed via strengthening the vertical integration. The production and processing of sugar-beets in Ukraine are based in the integrated communities dealing with growing roots and producing sugar. Agricultural, industrial, transportation companies, as well as additional and servicing productions are included into such communities. Such integrated structures provide wasteless usage and production processing, effective use of the resource potential, and the rise of the production effectiveness. In Ukrainian sugar-beet sphere recently integrated companies in 2014 beet season produced 76,6 % sugar out of the total production. At present only 7 regions of Ukraine can be called beet ones. Among them the important place is taken by Cherkassy region where the beet production exists only in an integration form. The center of the integrated sugar-beet Cherkassy sub-complex is LLC «Panda». Its goal is to provide stable development of the sugar-beet production and sugar making via the connection of ties and interests of all production participants. At «Panda»’s plants the great attention is paid to reconstruction and modernization. As the result such sugar-refineries have the lowest fuel consumption and high quality of the products. Conclusion. The development of integration processes influences positively the undertaking productive activities, allows making their internal and external ties better, applies modern innovations into all spheres of agriculture, and provides the effectiveness of sugar-beet production.

Die vorliegende kummulative Dissertation bewertert in 5 Teilkapiteln die Nachhaltigkeit der Biogasproduktion in Deutschland. Ein besonderer Fokus wird dabei auf den Einsatz von Zuckerrüben und Grünlandaufwuchs in der Biogasproduktion und die Gärrestverwertung gelegt. Kapitel 2 stellt einen methodischen Ansatz zur interregionalen Verbringung von Gärresten vor. Dabei dient als Bezugsebene eine Gemeinde. Mit Hilfe eines Verteilalgorithmus werden Nährstoffe, den Regelungen einer verschärften Düngeverordnung folgend, auf umliegende Gemeinde verteilt. Als Untersuchungsregion werden die Bundesländer Niedersachsen und Nordrhein-Westfalen betrachtet. Es zeigt sich, dass zukünftig mit stark erhöhten Nährstoffverbringungskosten zu rechnen ist. Kapitel 3 erweitert die vorgestellte Transportkostenmodellierung um Experteninterviews zu zukünftig zu erwartenden Verbringungskosten und erweitert die Betrachtungsweise um schweinehaltende landwirtschaftliche Betriebe, die ebenso mit steigenden Nährstoffverbringungskosten im Zuge des neuen Düngefachrechts konfrontiert sind. Kapitel 4 lenkt den Fokus auf eine regionalisierte Modellierung des Substrateinsatzes in der Biogasproduktion in Deutschland. Es wird hierzu ein Modellansatz vorgestellt, der nahezu 8.000 Biogasanlagen mit Standort- und Leistungsangaben verarbeitet. Mit Hilfe eines linearen Optimierungsansatzes wird die Substratwahl im Hinblick auf regionalisierte Substratbereitstellungskosten anlagenindividuell optimiert. Anschließend werden auf Basis der Substratzusammensetzung Treibhausgasemissionen der Stromproduktion berechnet. Kapitel 5 erweitert den Modellansatz um eine Energiebilanzierung und bewertet die Zuckerrübe als Energiepflanze in der Biogasproduktion unter Zuhilfenahme von Szenariorechnungen. Die Modellierung zeigt, dass Silomais mit Abstand das ökonomisch und ökologisch vorzüglichste Substrat darstellt. Die Berechnung der Treibhausgasemissionen zeigt, dass Strom aus Biogas mit rund 160 kg CO2eq je kWh deutlich unter den Emissionen des gegewärtigen Stromix liegt. Kapitel 6 erweitert den Modellansatz um Grünlandaufwuchs. Aufgrund der Datenverfügbarkeit musste die Analyse auf die Bundesländer Schleswig-Holstein, Niedersachen und Bayern eingeschränkt werden. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass Grünlandaufwuchs nur unter, für Grünlandaufwuchs günstigen Szenarioannahmen, in für den Maisanbau tendenziell ungünstigen Lagen in die Lösung aufgenommen wird. The present cumulative dissertation assesses the sustainability of biogas production in Germany from different points of view. A special focus is brought to sugar beets and grassland as a biogas feedstock as well as to biogas residue utilization. Chapter 2 presents an approach of manure distribution within regions based on municipality biogas and livestock production data. The developed algorithm distributes nutrients of nutrient surplus municipalities to municipalities with nutrient adsorption capacity within a study area (Lower Saxonia and North Rhine-Westphalia). It was shown that farmers and biogas producers will be confronted with higher manure and biogas digestate disposal costs. Chapter 3 enlarges the view by taking pig producers and experts interviews into consideration. Chapter 4 presents an approach to determine the regional biogas feedstock input based on regional agricultural production cost data and almost 8,000 biogas plants in Germany. By using a linear optimization approach regional feedstock inputs are calculated. Furthermore greenhouse gas emissions of power production based on biogas are estimated. Chapter 5 enlarges the modeling approach by an energy balancing tool and assesses sugar beets as an energy crop for biogas production in detail. Therefore different scenarios are taken into account. Silage corn was the most competitive feedstock over almost every region in Germany. Round about 160 kg CO2eq per kWh from biogas production were calculated, which is a significant lower value in comparison to greenhouse gas emissions from current power mix in Germany. Chapter 6 focuses on grassland as a biogas feedstock. Based on data availability calculation had to be restricted to Federal States of Schleswig-Holstein, Lower Saxonia and Bavaria. Results show that grassland is a competitive biogas feedstock in regions, which are characterized by unfavorable production circumstances of silage corn and only if for grassland favorable scenario assumptions are chosen.

Sugar beet is the second biggest world contributor to sugar production and the only one grown in Europe. One of the main limitations for its competitiveness is the lack of effective tools for assessing sugar content in unprocessed sugar beet roots, especially in breeding programs. In this context, a dedicated near infrared (NIR) fiber-optic probe based approach is proposed. NIR technology is widely used for the estimation of sugar content in vegetable products, while optic fibers allow a wide choice of technical properties and configurations. The objective of this research was to study the best architecture through different technical choices for the estimation of sugar content in intact sugar beet roots. NIR spectral measurements were taken on unprocessed sugar beet samples using two types of geometries, single and multiple fiber-probes. Sugar content estimates were more accurate when using multiple fiber-probes (up to R2 = 0.93) due to a lesser disruption of light specular reflection. In turn, on this configuration, the best estimations were observed for the smallest distances between emitting and collecting fibers, reducing the proportion of multiply scattered light in the spectra. Error of prediction (RPD) values of 3.95, 3.27 and 3.09 were obtained for distances between emitting and collecting fibers of 0.6, 1.2 and 1.8 &micro, m respectively. These high RPD values highlight the good predictions capacities of the multi-fiber probes. Finally, this study contributes to a better understanding of the effects of the technical properties of optical fiber-probes on the quality of spectral models. In addition, and beyond this specificity related to sugar beet, these findings could be extended to other turbid media for quantitative optical spectroscopy and eventually to validate considered fiber-optic probe design obtained in this experimental study.

Yield and sugar content genetic analyzes for hybrids developed engaging pollinating lines of the first and the second inbred generations throughout two cycles of recurrent breeding has underpinned the determination of regularities for combinability expression in crossing components and the change of their gene interaction types. This unveiled the lack of correlation between the parents descriptions as selected from groups that displayed contrast combining of productivity components and the lines combinability derived thereof. This provided a ground for correcting the breeding technology of the development of MS hybrids through the exclusion of individual polarization as phenotype based breeding method with replacing this by the assessment of economical value of the topcrossing components. The genetic value was determined for pollinator lines of І1 first hybrid generation by productivity components derived from multiple seed populations by Ulad breeding. 7 economically valuable lines were derived from U752 population by yield and 17 by sugar content, whereas 6 and 10 limes were derived from КМ2, respectively . This provided a ground for the development of synthetic varieties that displayed yield and sugar content characteristics improved, respectively, by 9,4 and 2,4% (U752 initial population ) and by 4,4 and 8,3% ( КМ2 initial population) compared to group standard. The structure of genetic variability of MS hybrids productivity as developed engaging І2 .first and second inbred generation. In the genotype variation of characteristics of hybrids derived from І1 pollinators of recurrent breeding first cycle the additive effects of both parental forms prevailed, and as regards the hybrids developed engaging І2 pollinators of the second cycle of recurrent breeding non-additive effects of the components interaction prevailed. In the second cycle of recurrent breeding 7 І2 lines valuable for combining were singled out, which had high general combinability by yield, and 8 were singled out by sugar content. 5 lines were singled out: U752/5/7, U752/84/3, КМ2/33/4, КМ2/34/7, КМ2/75/4, which combined high general combinability by yield and sugar content at once. Heterosis effect of hybrid combinations was subject to total fusion of additive and non-additive effects of the genes controlling quantitative characteristics of the productivity. The best hybrids yield engaging І2, pollinator lines selected out of U752 and КМ2 multi-seed populations ranged within 104...117,3%, sugar content – 102,4...106,0%, while that of synthetic varieties – 113,4 and 103,6% (U752) and 106,7 and 109,3% (КМ2), respectively, against the group standard.

The article describes a way of solution of a problem of obtaining a positive expected outcome in real production conditions, which consists in the choice of technology and machinery complex for their implementation using the methods of economic decision-making in conditions of uncertainty and risk. The initial data for economic decision-making to determine the best alternative technology based on probabilistic nature of the planned crop yields are process maps, compiled and calculated by different methods. The article presents the research, where the author used as input data the results of the calculation of process maps for growing and harvesting sugar beets, obtained by application software, worked out by V. N. Dzyuba, Associate Professor of machinery application and industrial training in Poltava State Agrarian Academy. As a result of analytical studies the author proved that the calculation according to all given criteria justifies the production using the alternative technology A3. Notably, to introduce it to the production the author recommended new intensive technology with the justification of quantitative and qualitative complex of machinery with the objective function to minimize the costs of production. Based on the research the author has concluded that more accurate evaluation of efficiency of the proposed production technologies provides the use of methods of justification of economic decisions in conditions of uncertainty and risk on the basis of criteria of Bayes, Laplace, Hurwitz, Wald, Savage, «maximax» rules, adapted to agricultural production.

Dairy cows are customarily given grains and highly digestible byproduct ingredients as additions to forage to support milk production. In many parts of the world growing seasons are short, and the grain crops that can be grown may not provide adequate yields. Sugar beets, on the other hand are relatively hardy, and dry matter yields surpass the yields of most grain crops. There are however, perceptions that beets may not be suitable as a feed ingredient due to the fact that the storage form of carbohydrate is sugar rather than starch. With little analytical support, sugar has been rejected in many feeding programs with the view that sugar reduces rumen pH, fiber digestion and microbial yield. This review explores available facts revolving around these concerns. Information regarding the feeding of sugar beets is provided and the use of sugar beets as a partial replacement for grain is proposed.

Agriculture is among the most risk-prone sectors in the economies of Central Asia. Production shocks from weather, pests and diseases and adverse movements in agricultural product and input prices not only impact farmers and agri-business firms, but can also strain government finances. Some of these risks are small and localized and can be managed by producers. Others are the result of more severe, exogenous shocks outside agriculture or outside the country, which require a broader response. Failure to respond adequately to these more severe risks leads to a perpetual cycle of ‘shock-recovery-shock’, which reinforces poverty traps and compromises long-term growth. The agriculture sector’s exposure to production and price risk is increasing. Climate change is increasing production risks in the short to medium-term by increasing the frequency and severity of droughts and floods and in the longer-term by reducing the availability of water for irrigation due to accelerated glacial melt. The modernization and commercialization of agricultural production and processing, which is critical for sector growth, also raises the sector’s exposure to price risk at a time of high volatility on international markets for agricultural commodities. An effective response to these risks requires a broader, more integrated approach to risk management than the current system of ex-ante, public sector activity associated with crop and livestock disease and ad hoc, ex-post emergency responses to local disasters. Measures to strengthen risk mitigation need to be mainstreamed into sector development and investment programs, additional human and financial resources need to be allocated to the public institutions responsible for ex-ante and ex-post risk management, and the potential for transfer (insurance) mechanisms will need to be clarified and developed where feasible. Given the limited human and financial resources available for public sector activity, a clear sense of the priorities for agriculture risk management is also required, together with a balanced view of the respective roles of public and private sector stakeholders.

Several countries have established a number of increased targets for energy production from renewable sources. Biogas production, which will play a key role in future energy systems largely based on renewable sources, is expected to grow significantly in the next few decades. To achieve these ambitious targets, the biogas production chain has to be optimised to obtain economic viability and environmental sustainability while making use of a diversified range of feedstock materials, including agricultural residues, agro-industrial residues and, to some extent, dedicated energy crops. In this study, we Integrated energetic, GHG and economic analysis to optimise biogas production from the co-digestion of pigslurry (PS) and sugar beet pulp silage (SB). We found that utilising SB as a co-substrate improves the energy and GHG balances, mostly because of increased energy production. However, utilising SB negatively affects the profitability of biogas production, because of the increased costs involved in feedstock supply. The scale of the processing plant is neutral in terms of profitability when SB is added. The results indicate that medium-to large-sized biogas plants, using low shares of SB co-substrate, may be the preferred solution. The main aim of the paper is analysis of production and economic results of sugar beets, cow milk and live cattle in 2014 for farms having different production scale of these products. Research was held at commercial farms, which have greater development opportunities. The results of the researched products were affected by the production potential of farms, i.e. resources of land, labour and capital, their quality and manner of use, but they were also dependent on the external conditions of operation, e.g. weather or market conditions. This impact resulted in different level of changes in production volume, unit costs and implementation prices of respective products. A consequence of differences in selected production scale sections, production and price results and incurred costs was differentiation of profitability of production, understood as a difference between the production value and costs corresponding thereto and as a quotient of production value and costs in percentages. The research showed that benefits following from a growth in production scale are clear. Greater production volume allows for generation of higher income and due to a higher level of specialisation and mechanisation of conducted works it is connected with much lower labour inputs. This results in higher labour productivity. Thus, one might expect coverage of alternative costs of land and capital.

Carabide pripadaju kosmopolitskoj grupi insekata, sa preko 40.000 vrsta širom Sveta,od tog broja 2700 vrsta je registrovano u Evropi. Trenutno se smatra da su trĉuljcinajrazvijenija familija podreda Adephaga. Desile su se mnoge izmene u sistematicifamilije Carabidae od prvog kljuĉa za determinaciju “Royal Entomological Societyhandbook“ (Lindroth,1974). Prvi znaĉajan doprinos razumevanja ekologije, taksonomijei rasprostranjenosti karabida naĉinio je Carl Heinz Lindroth, koji je pokrio veći deoseverne Evrope kao i razvijene delove Severne Amerike, rad Lindrota pratio je Thiele(1977). Kasniji rad na identifikaciji karabida u Evropi izmenio je kljuĉ za determinacijuvrsta centralnog dela Evrope. Takodje, napravljen je veći broj ilustrovanih kljuĉeva zadeterminaciju karabida na prostoru Francuske. Karabide su tipiĉni polifagni predatori,veoma znaĉajni za odrţanje agroekosistema i drugih ekosistema zbog ĉega su ĉestpredmet istraţivanja. Pored toga što su poznati kao korisni insekti, odnosno regulatoribrojnosti štetnih populacija, neki predstavnici familije Carabidae mogu biti i štetoĉinebiljaka kako gajenih tako i korovskih, ĉime se uloga pripadnika ove familije znaĉajnouvećava. Cilj ovog rada jeste determinacija imaga familije Carabidae i njihova potvrdaputem molekularnih analiza (PCR), kao i utvrĊivanje kvalitativnog i kvantitativnogsastava trĉuljaka u poljima pšenice, kukuruza i šećerne repe na podruĉju, Beĉeja,Maglića i Rimskih Šanĉeva, tokom 2010. i 2011. godine. TakoĊe, je posmatranadominantnost, abundantnost, stepen faunistiĉke sliĉnosti karabida i uticajaagrometeoroloških uslova sredine na njihovu brojnost i sastav vrsta. Tokomdvogodišnjih istraţivanja u tri napred navedena useva i na sva tri lokaliteta, metodom „Barber posuda“ sakupljeno je ukupno 4.420 jedinki familije Carabidae. Kadaposmatramo brojnost po godinama, u prvoj godini, prikupljeno je više jedinki tj. 2803,koje su svrstane u 51 vrstu, dok je u 2011.g., brojnost bila skoro duplo manja, azabeleţeno je svega 1.617 jedinki, odnosno identifikovano je 47 vrsta, što je u vezi sa uslovima sredine u datim godinama istraţivanja. TakoĊe, na osnovu dobijenih rezultata moţe se zakljuĉiti da je struktura karabida zavisna od vladajućih biotiĉkih i abiotiĉkih faktora, te kombinacijom ovih faktora stvaraju se specifiĉni mikroklimatski uslovi, a sa tim i karakteristiĉna fauna. Nakon uraĊenih molekularnih analiza, kod vrsta Calathus fuscipes, Poecilus versicolor, Amara aenea, Calathus ambiguus, Anchomenus dorsalis, Dolichus halensis, Pterostichus cupreus, Harpalus distinguendus, Harpalus rufipes, Laemostenus terricola, Pterostichus melanarius, Harpalus dimidiatus, Anisodactylus binotatus, Trechus quadristriatus, Carabus coriaceus, Carabus cancellatus, BLAST analiza je potvrdila status vrste koja je primarno identifikovana na osnovu morfoloških karakteristika. Vrste, kod kojih je utvrĊena visoka stopa sliĉnosti sa drugim vrstama iz istog roda i za koje nema referentnih sekvenci u banci gena, kao što su Pterostichus (Poecilus) sericeus, Harpalus azureus, Pterostichus incommodus, Harpalus griseus, Pterostichus (Cophosus) cylindricus, Pterostichus vernalis, Pterostichus (Feronidius) melas i Calosoma auropunctatum predstavljaju doprinos svetskoj barkoding bazi podataka., Carabidae belong to cosmopolitan group of insects, with over 40,000 species worldwide, where out of that number 2700 species is registered in Europe. It is currently considered that ground beetles are the most developed family of the sub-order Adephagae. There have been many changes in the systematic approach of the Carabidae family since the first determination key called "Royal Entomological Society Handbook" (Lindroth, 1974). The first significant contribution to the understanding of the ecology, taxonomy and distribution of Carabidae was made by Carl Heinz Lindroth that covered the greater part of the Northern Europe as well as the developed parts of Northern America; Lindroth’s work was followed by Thiele (1977). Subsequent work on the identification of Carabidae in Europe changed the key for determination of the species of central Europe. Moreover, there have been a larger number of illustrated keys for determination of Carabidae on the territory of France. Carabidae are the typical polyphagous predators, very important for the maintenance of agro ecosystems and other ecosystems therefore they are often the subject of research. In addition to being known as beneficial insects, that is regulators of the number of pest populations, some representatives of the Carabidae family can also be pests of cultivated plants as well as weeds; therefore the role of the members of this family is increased significantly. The aim of this study is to determine the adults of the Carabidae family and their confirmation in molecular analysis (PCR), as well as to determine the qualitative and quantitative composition of ground beetles in fields of wheat, maize and sugar beet on the territory of Beĉej, Maglić and Rimski Šanĉevi, during 2010 and 2011. Furthermore, the dominance, abundance, degree of faunal similarity of Carabidae and the impact of agro-meteorological conditions of the environment on the number and composition of species were observed. During the two-year research in the three above-mentioned crops and in all three locations, using the method of "Barber traps" a total of 4,420 individuals of the Carabidae family were collected. When we look at the strength throughout years, in the first year more individuals were collected, that is 2,803 in number, which are classified into 51 species, while in 2011 the number was almost half that, and only 1,617 individuals were recorded, and 47 species identified, which isrelated to environmental conditions in given years of study. Moreover, based on theobtained results it can be concluded that the composition of Carabidae is dependent onthe ruling biotic and abiotic factors, and the combination of these factors creates aspecific microclimate conditions, thus the characteristic fauna. Having applied themolecular analysis with the following species – Calathus fuscipes, Poecilus versicolor,Amara aenea, Calathus ambiguus, Anchomenus dorsalis, Dolichus halensis,Pterostichus cupreus, Harpalus distinguendus, Harpalus rufipes, Laemostenusterricola, Pterostichus melanarius, Harpalus dimidiatus, Anisodactylus binotatus,Trechus quadristriatus, Carabus coriaceus, Carabus cancellatus – the BLAST analysisconfirmed the status of a species that is primarily identified based on morphologicalcharacteristics. Species, in which a high rate of similarity with other species of the sameorder was found, and for which there is no reference sequence in the gene bank, such asPterostichus (Poecilus) sericeus, Harpalus azureus, Pterostichus incommodus,Harpalus griseus, Pterostichus (Cophosus) cylindricus, Pterostichus vernalis,Pterostichus (Feronidius) melas i Calosoma auropunctatum represent a contribution tothe world bar-coding database.

Kasniji rad na identifikaciji karabida u Evropi izmenio je kljuĉ za determinacijuvrsta centralnog dela Evrope. Takodje, napravljen je veći broj ilustrovanih kljuĉeva zadeterminaciju karabida na prostoru Francuske. Karabide su tipiĉni polifagni predatori,veoma znaĉajni za odrţanje agroekosistema i drugih ekosistema zbog ĉega su ĉestpredmet istraţivanja. Pored toga što su poznati kao korisni insekti, odnosno regulatoribrojnosti štetnih populacija, neki predstavnici familije Carabidae mogu biti i štetoĉinebiljaka kako gajenih tako i korovskih, ĉime se uloga pripadnika ove familije znaĉajnouvećava. Cilj ovog rada jeste determinacija imaga familije Carabidae i njihova potvrdaputem molekularnih analiza (PCR), kao i utvrĊivanje kvalitativnog i kvantitativnogsastava trĉuljaka u poljima pšenice, kukuruza i šećerne repe na podruĉju, Beĉeja,Maglića i Rimskih Šanĉeva, tokom 2010. i 2011. godine. TakoĊe, je posmatranadominantnost, abundantnost, stepen faunistiĉke sliĉnosti karabida i uticajaagrometeoroloških uslova sredine na njihovu brojnost i sastav vrsta. Tokomdvogodišnjih istraţivanja u tri napred navedena useva i na sva tri lokaliteta, metodom „Barber posuda“ sakupljeno je ukupno 4.420 jedinki familije Carabidae. Kadaposmatramo brojnost po godinama, u prvoj godini, prikupljeno je više jedinki tj. 2803,koje su svrstane u 51 vrstu, dok je u 2011.g., brojnost bila skoro duplo manja, azabeleţeno je svega 1.617 jedinki, odnosno identifikovano je 47 vrsta, što je u vezi sa uslovima sredine u datim godinama istraţivanja. TakoĊe, na osnovu dobijenih rezultata moţe se zakljuĉiti da je struktura karabida zavisna od vladajućih biotiĉkih i abiotiĉkih faktora, te kombinacijom ovih faktora stvaraju se specifiĉni mikroklimatski uslovi, a sa tim i karakteristiĉna fauna. Nakon uraĊenih molekularnih analiza, kod vrsta Calathus fuscipes, Poecilus versicolor, Amara aenea, Calathus ambiguus, Anchomenus dorsalis, Dolichus halensis, Pterostichus cupreus, Harpalus distinguendus, Harpalus rufipes, Laemostenus terricola, Pterostichus melanarius, Harpalus dimidiatus, Anisodactylus binotatus, Trechus quadristriatus, Carabus coriaceus, Carabus cancellatus, BLAST analiza je potvrdila status vrste koja je primarno identifikovana na osnovu morfoloških karakteristika. Vrste, kod kojih je utvrĊena visoka stopa sliĉnosti sa drugim vrstama iz istog roda i za koje nema referentnih sekvenci u banci gena, kao što su Pterostichus (Poecilus) sericeus, Harpalus azureus, Pterostichus incommodus, Harpalus griseus, Pterostichus (Cophosus) cylindricus, Pterostichus vernalis, Pterostichus (Feronidius) melas i Calosoma auropunctatum predstavljaju doprinos svetskoj barkoding bazi podataka., Carabidae belong to cosmopolitan group of insects, with over 40,000 species worldwide, where out of that number 2700 species is registered in Europe. It is currently considered that ground beetles are the most developed family of the sub-order Adephagae. There have been many changes in the systematic approach of the Carabidae family since the first determination key called "Royal Entomological Society Handbook" (Lindroth, 1974). The first significant contribution to the understanding of the ecology, taxonomy and distribution of Carabidae was made by Carl Heinz Lindroth that covered the greater part of the Northern Europe as well as the developed parts of Northern America; Lindroth’s work was followed by Thiele (1977). Subsequent work on the identification of Carabidae in Europe changed the key for determination of the species of central Europe. Moreover, there have been a larger number of illustrated keys for determination of Carabidae on the territory of France. Carabidae are the typical polyphagous predators, very important for the maintenance of agro ecosystems and other ecosystems therefore they are often the subject of research. In addition to being known as beneficial insects, that is regulators of the number of pest populations, some representatives of the Carabidae family can also be pests of cultivated plants as well as weeds; therefore the role of the members of this family is increased significantly. The aim of this study is to determine the adults of the Carabidae family and their confirmation in molecular analysis (PCR), as well as to determine the qualitative and quantitative composition of ground beetles in fields of wheat, maize and sugar beet on the territory of Beĉej, Maglić and Rimski Šanĉevi, during 2010 and 2011. Furthermore, the dominance, abundance, degree of faunal similarity of Carabidae and the impact of agro-meteorological conditions of the environment on the number and composition of species were observed. During the two-year research in the three above-mentioned crops and in all three locations, using the method of "Barber traps" a total of 4,420 individuals of the Carabidae family were collected. When we look at the strength throughout years, in the first year more individuals were collected, that is 2,803 in number, which are classified into 51 species, while in 2011 the number was almost half that, and only 1,617 individuals were recorded, and 47 species identified, which isrelated to environmental conditions in given years of study. Moreover, based on theobtained results it can be concluded that the composition of Carabidae is dependent onthe ruling biotic and abiotic factors, and the combination of these factors creates aspecific microclimate conditions, thus the characteristic fauna. Having applied themolecular analysis with the following species – Calathus fuscipes, Poecilus versicolor,Amara aenea, Calathus ambiguus, Anchomenus dorsalis, Dolichus halensis,Pterostichus cupreus, Harpalus distinguendus, Harpalus rufipes, Laemostenusterricola, Pterostichus melanarius, Harpalus dimidiatus, Anisodactylus binotatus,Trechus quadristriatus, Carabus coriaceus, Carabus cancellatus – the BLAST analysisconfirmed the status of a species that is primarily identified based on morphologicalcharacteristics. Species, in which a high rate of similarity with other species of the sameorder was found, and for which there is no reference sequence in the gene bank, such asPterostichus (Poecilus) sericeus, Harpalus azureus, Pterostichus incommodus,Harpalus griseus, Pterostichus (Cophosus) cylindricus, Pterostichus vernalis,Pterostichus (Feronidius) melas i Calosoma auropunctatum represent a contribution tothe world bar-coding database.

This report provides an analysis of food security in Moldova. It attempts to outline the specific characteristics of food insecurity found in Moldova and to identify its underlying causes. This report provides a basis on which sound public policy can be built. The understanding of food security as a concept has evolved in Moldova over time, but policy has remained focused on food availability as the primary attribute of food security. The report looks at how many people are food insecure in Moldova, where these people live, who they are, and why they face food security challenges. The report adopts the international food security concept and analytical framework based on the four key dimensions: (i) the availability of food; (ii) access to food; (iii) utilization of food; and (iv) the stability of these three dimensions over time. The report is divided into following parts. The part one outlines the methodology used and provides a brief overview of Moldovas agriculture sector. In part two the report focuses on overall food security outcomes by assessing how many people are food insecure in Moldova, where do they live, who they are, and when is food security most affecting them. Part three provides a comprehensive analysis of the four dimensions of food security (availability, access, utilization, and stability) and identifies bottlenecks. Part four introduces the institutional actors and the policy framework. The report concludes with policy recommendations.

Biogas production using biomass of agricultural origin plays a key role in Germany's energy transition process. Being the main substrate, maize has been increasingly criticized in recent years leading to a down-regulation of this crop for the use in biogas plants by an adjustment of the Renewable Energy Sources (RES) Act in 2012. Thus, it is necessary to widen the range of sustainable and suitable substrate alternatives. This study explores German farmers' willingness to grow sugar beets for biogas production based upon the analysis of a discrete choice experiment with 118 arable farmers conducted from November 2013 to February 2014. Models are estimated in willingness to pay space. Our results reveal that at least two-thirds of the participating farmers assess biogas production from sugar beets as an important and sustainable alternative to maize. However, with respect to their own farms, farmers prefer to maintain their status-quo instead of choosing a contract. Findings also indicate that risk-averse farmers are more likely to contract sugar beets as a biogas substrate than less risk-averse farmers resulting in a lower price demand. However risk-averse farmers prefer short contract periods and a small share of their arable land, otherwise they demand a markup. Regarding the expansion of renewable energies these findings are highly relevant for future political decisions that aim to enable a sustainable energy transition.

500 O-type lines of sugar beet hybrid components were studied according to their main economically valuable characteristics, namely, one-seed structure, germination readiness, productivity, sugar content and sugar yield. 13 best features were determined, herewith one-seed structure of most tested genotypes was observed at the level of 92-99% which appeared to be of nearly the same level during all the years of the research. On that ground they were included into the program for further research. The weight of seeds of the researched numbers ranged from 13,3 to 22,2 gr. The productivity of the researched O-type lines varied from 40,1 to 45,2 tons per hectare. Herewith, the highest productivity index was observed in 664bk 6 line with the average index 42,7 tons per hectare which ensured sugar yield 7,59 tons per hectare. The results of the research into the influence of low temperatures on seed germination readiness and capacity of O-type sugar beet lines were given. All the researched materials readily respond to conditions of germination and the seed germination readiness and germination capacity directly depend on the temperature. However, high indices of seed germination readiness and capacity under low temperatures is an essential feature of parent breeding materials in the breeding process while creating new hybrids which can be grown by means of intensive technologies. This will make it possible to sow heterosis sugar beet hybrids in earlier terms. It was suggested to use the best lines as parent components for development of heterosis hybrids which are able to ensure seed germination under low temperatures.

ASU Bandymų stotyje atlikti cukrinių runkelių (Beta vulgaris L. var. saccharifera) pasėlio formavimo naudojant NAGRO trąšas tyrimai. Tirta cukrinių runkelių veislė ‘Ernestina‘. Cukrinių runkelių daigai keturių porų tikrųjų lapelių tarpsnyje apipurkšti NAGRO trąšų tirpalu. Cukriniams runkeliams esant 5 – 6 porų tikrųjų lapelių tarpsnyje 3 ir 5 bandymo variantuose augantys augalai dar kartą pagal schemą apipurkšti bioorganinių nano trąšų tirpalu. Kitos agrotechninės priemonės buvo atliktos pagal Bandymo stotyje taikomą cukrinių runkelių auginimo technologiją. Darbo rezultatai: Papildomas cukrinių runkelių apipurškimas NAGRO trąšomis turėjo teigiamos įtakos cukrinių runkelių augimo ir vystymosi procesams. Object of the research: 'Ernestina' variety of sugar beet crop applied by the solution of the universal bio-organic nano fertilizer “NAGRO”. Research methods: The research on crop formation of sugar beet (Beta vulgaris L. var. saccharifera) sprayed by “NAGRO” fertilizer was carried out at the Experimental Station of Aleksandras Stulginskis University in 2013. 'Ernestina' variety of sugar beet crop was researched. At the stage of 4 pairs of true leaves the application of “NAGRO” fertilizer solution was made to sugar beet seedlings whereas at the growth stage of 5–6 pairs of leaves the plants of the 3rd and 5th test versions were additionaly applied by the solution of “NAGRO” fertilizer. Other agro measures were carried out in accordance with the growing technology for sugar beet applicable in the Experimental Station. The example of Kujavia-Pomerania province presented preliminary results of research on the evaluation of the reform of the EU sugar market, both in relation to changes in the cultivation of sugar beet (number of farms, plantation area) and the number and organizational structure of the sugar mills (from 13 plants in 1990 3 sugar factories in 2013). Research has shown a significant decrease in surface area of sugar beet, however, under a clear increase of the average area of the plantation.

The research was focused on the analysis of results of the selected agricultural products in the last period, i.e. on average in the years 2011-2013, and on the evaluation of results anticipated for 2020. The purpose was to determine the impact of changes in prices of means for agricultural production, yields and product prices forecasted until 2020 on the level of income from agricultural products. Analysis covered also the structure of the selected time series of prices of selected agricultural products.

Yield and sugar content genetic analyzes for hybrids developed engaging pollinating lines of the first and the second inbred generations throughout two cycles of recurrent breeding has underpinned the determination of regularities for combinability expression in crossing components and the change of their gene interaction types. This unveiled the lack of correlation between the parents descriptions as selected from groups that displayed contrast combining of productivity components and the lines combinability derived thereof. This provided a ground for correcting the breeding technology of the development of MS hybrids through the exclusion of individual polarization as phenotype based breeding method with replacing this by the assessment of economical value of the topcrossing components. The genetic value was determined for pollinator lines of І1 first hybrid generation by productivity components derived from multiple seed populations by Ulad breeding. 7 economically valuable lines were derived from U752 population by yield and 17 by sugar content, whereas 6 and 10 limes were derived from КМ2, respectively . This provided a ground for the development of synthetic varieties that displayed yield and sugar content characteristics improved, respectively, by 9,4 and 2,4% (U752 initial population ) and by 4,4 and 8,3% ( КМ2 initial population) compared to group standard. The structure of genetic variability of MS hybrids productivity as developed engaging І2 .first and second inbred generation. In the genotype variation of characteristics of hybrids derived from І1 pollinators of recurrent breeding first cycle the additive effects of both parental forms prevailed, and as regards the hybrids developed engaging І2 pollinators of the second cycle of recurrent breeding non-additive effects of the components interaction prevailed. In the second cycle of recurrent breeding 7 І2 lines valuable for combining were singled out, which had high general combinability by yield, and 8 were singled out by sugar content. 5 lines were singled out: U752/5/7, U752/84/3, КМ2/33/4, КМ2/34/7, КМ2/75/4, which combined high general combinability by yield and sugar content at once. Heterosis effect of hybrid combinations was subject to total fusion of additive and non-additive effects of the genes controlling quantitative characteristics of the productivity. The best hybrids yield engaging І2, pollinator lines selected out of U752 and КМ2 multi-seed populations ranged within 104...117,3%, sugar content – 102,4...106,0%, while that of synthetic varieties – 113,4 and 103,6% (U752) and 106,7 and 109,3% (КМ2), respectively, against the group standard., На основании генетического анализа урожайности и сахаристости гибридов, созданных с участием линий-опыли­телей первого и второго инбредных поколений на протяжении двух циклов рекуррентного отбора, установлены закономерности проявления комбинационной способности компонентов скрещивания и изменения в соотношении типов генных взаимодействий. Выявлено отсутствие связи между характеристикой родоначальников, отобранных из групп с контрастным сочетанием элементов продуктивности и комбинационной способностью линий, полученными на их основе. Это дает основание для коррекции технологии селекционного процесса создания МС гибридов путем исключения индивидуальной поляризации как метода отбора по фенотипу и замены ее определением генетической ценности компонентов в топкроссных скрещиваниях. Определена генетическая ценность линий-опылителей первого инбредного поколения І1 по элементам продуктивности, полученных из многосемянных популяций уладовского происхождения. Из популяции У752 выделено 7 генетически ценных линий по урожайности и 17 – по сахаристости, а из популяции КМ2 – соответственно 6 и 10 линий. На их основе созданы синтетики с улучшенными параметрами урожайности и сахаристости, соответственно на 9,4 и 2,4% (исходная популяция У752) и на 4,4 и 8,3% (исходная популяция КМ2) по сравнению с групповым стандартом. Проанализирована структура генотипов изменчивости элементов продуктивности МС гибридов, созданных при участии опылителей и первого и второго инбредных поколений. В генотипической вариации признаков гибридов, созданных на основе опылителей І1 первого цикла рекуррентного отбора преобладающими были аддитивные эффекты обоих родительских форм, а у гибридов, сформированных с участием опылителей І2 второго цикла рекуррентного отбора – неаддитивные эффекты взаимодействия компонентов. Во втором цикле рекуррентного отбора выделено 7 комбинационно-ценных линий І2 с высокой ОКС по урожайности и 8 – по сахаристости. Выделено 5 линий: У752/5/7, У752/84/3, КМ2/33/4, КМ2/34/7, КМ2/75/4, которые сочетали высокую комбинационную способность по урожайности и сахаристости одновременно. Гетерозисный эффект гибридных комбинаций зависел от суммарного сочетания положительных аддитивных и неадитивних эффектов генов, контролирующих количественные признаки, влияющие на продуктивность. Виявлено відсутність зв’язку між характеристикою родоначальників, відібраних з груп з контрастним поєднанням елементів продуктивності та комбінаційною здатністю ліній, отриманими на їх основі. Це дає підставу для корекції технології селекційного процесу створення ЧС гібридів через вилучення індивідуальної поляризації як методу добору за фенотипом і заміни її визначенням генетичної цінності компонентів в топкросних схрещуваннях. Визначена генетична цінність лінійзапилювачів першого інбредного покоління І1 за елементами продуктивності, що походять із багатонасінних популяцій уладівської селекції. З популяції У752 виділено 7 генетично-цінних ліній за врожайністю і 17 – за цукристістю, а з популяції КМ2 – відповідно 6 і 10 ліній. На їх основі створено синтетики з поліпшеними параметрами врожайності та цукристості відповідно на 9,4 і 2,4% (вихідна популяція У752) і на 4,4 і 8,3% (вихідна популяція КМ2) порівняно з груповим стандартом. Выделено 13 лучших, при этом, односемянность большинства испытываемых генотипов было зафиксировано на уровне 92–99 %, которая за годы проведения испытаний не отличалась. На этом основании они были включены в дальнейшую программу испытаний. Масса 1000 семян изученных номеров варьировалась в пределах 13,3–22,2 г. Собственная продуктивность испытываемых линий О-типа варьировалась в пределах 40,1–45,2 т/га. При этом наибольший показатель урожайности отмечено у линий 664бк 6 при среднем показателе 42,7 т/га, что обеспечило сбор сахара на уровне 7,59 т/га. Приведено результаты изучения влияния пониженных температур на энергию прорастания и схожесть семян линий О-типа сахарной свеклы. Все исследуемые материалы достаточно активно реагируют на условия проращивания, а энергии прорастания и всхожесть семян находятся в прямой зависимости от температуры. Однако, в селекционной работе при создании гибридов, которые приспособлены к условиям выращивания за интенсивными технологиями, важным признаком исходного селекционного материала есть обеспечение высоких показателей энергии прорастания и всхожести семян при пониженных температурах, что даст возможность сеять гетерозисные гибриды сахарной свеклы в более ранние сроки. Предлагается использовать лучшие линии в качестве материнских компонентов для создания гетерозисных гибридов, которые обеспечат прорастание семян при пониженных температурах., Вивчено 500 ліній О-типу компонентів гібридів цукрових буряків за основними господарськоцінними ознаками – однонасінністю, енергією проростання, продуктивністю, цукристістю та збором цукру. Виділено 13 кращих, при цьому, однонасінність більшості випробовуваних генотипів було зафіксовано на рівні 92–99%, яка істотно за роки проведення досліджень не відрізнялась. На цій підставі вони включені у подальшу програму досліджень. Маса 1000 насінин вивчених номерів варіювались у межах 13,3–22,2 г. Власна продуктивність досліджуваних ліній О-типу варіювала у межах 40,1–45,2 т/га. При цьому найвищий показник урожайності відмічено у лінії 664бк 6 при середньому показнику 42,7 т/га, що забезпечило збір цукру на рівні 7,59 т/га. Наведено результати вивчення впливу понижених температур на енергію проростання та схожість насіння ліній О-типу цукрових буряків. Усі досліджувані матеріали досить активно реагують на умови пророщування, а енергія проростання та схожість насіння знаходиться у прямій залежності від температури. Однак, у селекційній роботі за створення гібридів, придатних до вирощування за інтенсивними технологіями, важливою ознакою вихідних селекційних матеріалів є забезпечення високих показників енергії проростання та схожості за понижених температур, що дасть змогу висівати гетерозисні гібриди цукрових буряків у більш ранні строки. Пропонується використання кращих ліній в якості материнських компонентів для створення гетерозисних гібридів, здатних забезпечувати проростання насіння за низьких температур.

The article describes a way of solution of a problem of obtaining a positive expected outcome in real production conditions, which consists in the choice of technology and machinery complex for their implementation using the methods of economic decision-making in conditions of uncertainty and risk. The initial data for economic decision-making to determine the best alternative technology based on probabilistic nature of the planned crop yields are process maps, compiled and calculated by different methods.The article presents the research, where the author used as input data the results of the calculation of process maps for growing and harvesting sugar beets, obtained by application software, worked out by V. N. Dzyuba, Associate Professor of machinery application and industrial training in Poltava State Agrarian Academy. As a result of analytical studies the author proved that the calculation according to all given criteria justifies the production using the alternative technology A3. Notably, to introduce it to the production the author recommended new intensive technology with the justification of quantitative and qualitative complex of machinery with the objective function to minimize the costs of production. Based on the research the author has concluded that more accurate evaluation of efficiency of the proposed production technologies provides the use of methods of justification of economic decisions in conditions of uncertainty and risk on the basis of criteria of Bayes, Laplace, Hurwitz, Wald, Savage, «maximax» rules, adapted to agricultural production., В статье рассмотрена комплексная оценка соотношения: производственные затраты — урожайность сельскохозяйственных культур в условиях неопределенности и риска. Приведены совершенствования методики обоснования выбора технологии производства сельскохозяйственных культур при условии неопределенности и риска на примере расчетов по выращиванию и сбору сахарной свеклы., У статті розглянута комплексна оцінка співвідношення: виробничі витрат — урожайність сільськогосподарських культур за умов невизначеності та ризику. Sugar is considered as one of the first global commodities in the economic history of the world. The relations of supply and demand in the world have had a considerable influence on the development of local markets. In effect of the EU sugar market regime reform, both the European and the domestic markets are more and more reliant on the situation in the world market. The production capacity of the domestic sugar industry exceeds the demand on the internal market and therefore surpluses are exported. At the same time the market regime creates a necessity to import of 200 thousand tons of sugar in order to bridge the gap between the domestic demand and the production quota. Polish sugar industry imports more and more cane sugar for refining which increases the utilization level of its production factors. World prices have had a considerable influence on the domestic prices and thus financial standing of the sector. / Synopsis. W historii gospodarczej świata cukier jest uznawany za jeden z pierwszych produktów globalnych, a sytuacja podażowo-popytowa na światowym rynku miała duży wpływ na rozwój rynków lokalnych. Polski sektor cukrowniczy od wielu lat pozostaje pod wpływem rynku światowego. Reforma systemu regulacji rynku cukru w UE spowodowała, że rynek unijny i krajowy w coraz większym stopniu są uzależnione od sytuacji na rynku światowym. Potencjał produkcyjny krajowego przemysłu cukrowniczego jest większy od zapotrzebowania na rynku wewnętrznym i nadwyżki podaży są kierowane na eksport. Równocześnie system regulacji rynku powoduje, że 200 tys. t cukru musi być importowane, aby pokryć różnicę między zapotrzebowaniem i kwotą produkcyjną. Polski przemysł cukrowniczy importuje coraz większe ilości trzcinowego cukru surowego do rafinacji, która umożliwia lepsze wykorzystanie czynników produkcji. Ceny rynku światowego wyraźnie wpływały na ceny zbytu w kraju i wyniki finansowe sektora.

We develop a theoretical welfare framework, which explicitly recognizes that research protected by intellectual property rights generates monopoly profits. The result is a simulation model, shaped to the European sugar sector, and enabling to assess the size and distribution of the benefits of transgenic sugar beet adoption in the European Union and the Rest of the World.

The first Danish exchange for sugar beet contracts was established in January 2008. It was also the world’s first major application of a new technology, secure multiparty computation (SMC), which ensures the security and cost-effectiveness of such exchanges. The technology can potentially be used in a number of other applications, including voting, negotiations, and benchmarking. SMC makes it possible to combine private knowledge from a large number of parties without ever revealing their individual knowledge. This provides unique opportunities for individual agents to collaborate despite conflicting interests and decentralized knowledge, which, in many contexts, constitute the primary obstacle to the creation of economic gains. The establishment of the Danish contract exchange was the culmination of a novel and successful collaboration between economists and cryptologists. It constitutes a successful operational research project using novel scientific methods to solve a real, large-scale problem. This article describes the background for and the implementation of the exchange and discusses some other potential applications.

Šiuo metu Lietuvoje paplitusi intensyvi žemdirbystės sistema gali nemažai pakenkti aplinkai. Todėl labai svarbu spręsti šią problemą taip, kad būtų padaryta kuo mažesnė žala aplinkai ir tuo pačiu užtikrinta pakankamai intensyvi žemės ūkio produktų gamyba. Vienas iš problemos sprendimo būdų - auginti atsparesnes ligoms bei kenkėjams ir piktžoles labiau stelbiančias augalų veisles. Norint įvertinti tokių veislių auginimo aplinkosauginę ir ekonominę naudą LŽI Rumokų bandymų stotyje 2007-2008 m. atlikti tikslieji lauko bandymai atsparių ir neatsparių lapų ligoms cukrinių rankelių veislių pasėliuose. Auginant atsparias lapų ligoms cukrinių rankelių veisles gauta 7,7% daugiau pajamų nei auginant neatsparias veisles. Be to, sumažinta aplinkos tarša cheminėmis medžiagomis (nenaudotas fungicidas). In Lithuania, the current common intensive agriculture may considerably damage the environment. Therefore, it is important to solve this problem so that the damage to the environment is minimum and, at the same time, intensive production of agricultural products is ensured. One of the ways to solve the problem is to grow varieties characterised by a higher disease and pest resistance and high competitive power against weeds. To estimate the conservational and economic benefits of the cultivation of such varieties, precision field trials were carried out in 2007–2008 at the Rumokai Experimental Station of the Lithuanian Research for Agriculture and Forestry. When cultivating sugar beet varieties characterised by a higher foliar diseases resistance, the economic benefit was 7.7% higher than that of the cultivation of non-resistant varieties. In addition, the pollution of environment with chemical substances was reduced.

This study examines the financial feasibility of producing ethanol biofuel from sugar beets in central North Dakota. Under the Energy Independence and Security Act (EISA) of 2007, biofuel from sugar beets uniquely qualifies as an “advanced biofuel”. EISA mandates production of 15 billion gallons of advanced biofuels annually by 2022. A stochastic simulation financial model was calibrated with irrigated sugar beet data from central North Dakota to determine economic feasibility and risks of production for a 10MGY (million gallon per year) and 20MGY ethanol plant. Study results indicate that feedstock costs, which include sugar beets and beet molasses, account for more than 70% of total production expenses. The estimated breakeven ethanol price for the 20MGY plant is $1.52 per gallon and $1.71 per gallon for the 10MGY plant. Breakeven prices for feedstocks are also estimated and show that the 20MGYplant can tolerate greater ethanol and feedstock price risk than the 10MGY plant. Our results also show that one of the most important factors that affect investment success is the price of ethanol. At an ethanol price of $1.84 per gallon, and assuming other factors remain unchanged, the estimated net present value (NPV) of the 20MGY plant is $41.54 million. By comparison, the estimated NPV of the 10MGY plant is only $8.30 million. Other factors such as changes in prices of co-products and utilities have a relatively minor affect on investment viability.

Установлено, що в зоні достатнього зволоження Лісостепу України використання органо-мінеральної системи удобрення та позакореневого підживлення цукрових буряків кристалоном коричневим в дозі 3 кг/га у фазу змикання листків у рядках сприяло збільшенню урожайності коренеплодів на 20,0–21,9 т/га та додатковому отриманню 2,7–3,3 т/га цукру. Мета дослідження – встановлення впливу соломи, сидератів та додаткового позакореневого підживлення кристалоном на продукційний процесс і технологічні показники якості цукрових буряків., In the area of the sufficient moistening of Forest-steppe of Ukraine for saving of fertility of rountou, rise of productivity and technological indexes of quality of sugar beets it is possible to use a straw of winter wheat, siderati as mustard white and by the complex fertilizers on the chelating basis. It is set, that the use of the organic-mineral system of fertilizer of sugar beets of Krystalon Browm – 3 kg/hectare in the ieaves closing phase, to the increase of productivity of root crops on 20,0–21,9 t/ga and to the additional receipt – 2,7–3,3 t/ga sugar.
