Underwater communication systems play an important role in understanding various phenomena that take place within our vast oceans. They can be used as an integral tool in countless applications ranging from environmental monitoring to gathering of oceanographic data, marine archaeology, and search and rescue missions. Acoustic Communication is the viable solution for communication in highly attenuating underwater environment. However, these systems pose a number of challenges for reliable data transmission. Nonnegligible Doppler Effect emerges as a major factor. In order to support reliable high data rate communication, understanding the channel behavior is required. As sea trials are expensive, simulators are required to study the channel behavior. Modeling this channel involves solution to wave equations and validation with experimental data for that portion of the sea. Parabolic expansion model is a wave theory based acoustic channel model. This model applies Pade coefficients and Fourier coefficients as expansion functions to solve the wave equations. This work attempts to characterize the impact of Doppler Effect in the underwater acoustic channel using parabolic expansion models.

Classification of brain tumor is one of the most challenging tasks in the clinical and radiological research. Upon investigating the existing research contribution, we find that still there is wide open scope of addressing classification problem pertaining to brain tumor. Therefore, this manuscript presents a simple mechanism of classifying the brain tumor in order to categorize its state of criticality. The proposed system applies a multi-level preprocessing to enhance the input image followed by image thresholding for feature extraction and decomposition using wavelet transform. The extracted features are further subjected to process of dimensional reduction that maintains a balance between good number of enriched feature and less size of redundant feature using statistical approach. Further, a supervised learning approach is implemented that further optimizes the classification process. The study outcome is further benchmarked with different process of classification to show the efficient computational environment of proposed system.

secure multi-party computation is widely studied area in computer science. It is touching all most every aspect of human life. This paper demonstrates theoretical and experimental results of one of the secure multi-party computation protocols proposed by Shukla et al. implemented using visual C++. Data outflow probability is computed by changing parameters. At the end, time and space complexity is calculated using theoretical and experimental results.

The aim of this paper to characterize a larger set of wavelet functions for implementation in a still image compression system using SPIHT algorithm. This paper discusses important features of wavelet functions and filters used in sub band coding to convert image into wavelet coefficients in MATLAB. Image quality is measured objectively using peak signal to noise ratio (PSNR) and its variation with bit rate (bpp). The effect of different parameters is studied on different wavelet functions. Our results provide a good reference for application designers of wavelet based coder.
