3D coseismic deformation detected by remote sensing yields essential information for estimating the geometry and slip distribution of the causative fault. However, it is often difficult to be obtained by a single observation method due to data acquisition constraints. This study constructs a 3D coseismic deformation model of the 2011 Fukushima-ken Hamadori earthquake by integrating Differential Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (DInSAR), and differential light detection and ranging (Dlidar) analyses. Both horizontal and vertical movements observed are almost consistent with those of the theoretical dislocation model of normal faulting. The fault displacements measured within ±45 m of the rupture based on the 3D deformation model is also in good agreement with the possible maximum field displacements. Fault dips and lateral displacement components are also harmonious with the field survey measurements. Dlidar detects full 3D motion, whereas the DInSAR detects deformations too small for the light detection and ranging (lidar). Combining the two products is helpful to produce a more robust 3D displacement field than possible from the lidar alone.

This paper introduces examples of utilizing satellite remote sensing, mainly SAR, for two earthquakes occurred in 2018. After The Earthquake in Osaka-Fu Hokubu and the 2018 Hokkaido Eastern Iburi Earthquake, building damages were estimated by utilizing the change of the coherence in SAR. Although there are issues concerning the promptness of satellites due to their observation frequency, these examples indicate the effectiveness of using satellite remote sensing.

Catastrophic earthquake-induced landslides can occur on slopes composed of loosened and fractured rock masses. Although it is impossible to prevent such landslides, estimation of the susceptibility of slopes to earthquake-induced landslides is useful for risk management. An index of susceptibility to earthquake-induced landslides (ISEL) was developed by using helicopter-borne electromagnetic resistivity data. However, the ISEL has not yet been validated through the analysis of pre-earthquake data. In this study, ISEL values were estimated from resistivity and digital elevation data obtained in 2013 around Mt. Aso, Kyushu, before the 2016 Kumamoto earthquake. Although most of the landslides around Mt. Aso during the 2016 Kumamoto earthquake were mass movements of volcanic tephra layers, some of them occurred on loosened rock masses. Landslide susceptible areas at loosened rock masses are the target for ISEL value estimation. Our results validated the effectiveness of the ISEL as a predictor of earthquake-induced rock mass landslides.

Despite successes elsewhere in the world, 2 m resolution DEMs from a standard airborne LiDAR survey failed to detect small tectonic–geomorphic features in densely-forested high-relief mountains of central Japan. Our new 0.5-m DEMs from an unprecedentedly high-resolution LiDAR survey along the Neodani Fault now reveal a number of previously unknown fault scarps as well as other hidden geomorphic features. The survey achieves a ground-return density of 6.2 m − 2 out of a total shot density of as much as ~ 12.7 m − 2 . The main factor to gain sufficient ground returns in unfavorable conditions is a large side lap of ~ 70% between flight swaths, which means that any specific area in the target zone is scanned three or more times from different angles. Evaluation of DEMs with resolution from 0.25 to 10 m assures that a 0.5m resolution LiDAR DEM is necessary for the detection of subtle tectonic breaks. Another key factor for complete detection of small tectonic–geomorphic features is the application of a recently developed DEM visualization “Red Relief Image Map (RRIM)”, which allows mapping of all the small features with various sizes, orientations and morphology, overcoming major drawbacks of classic DEM visualizations. A very high-resolution LiDAR survey aided with RRIM visualization as used in this study provides a more reliable approach for the detailed mapping of slight active fault traces hidden under dense vegetation.

浅間火山2004年9月1日噴火（以下，9/1噴火と略す）について未解明であった火口西側地域を中心に現地踏査を行った．さらに，高分解能衛星画像の判読結果や室内分析および火山監視画像の解析から9/1噴火による本質物（パン皮状火山弾）を特定し，それらの分布を明らかにした．地層を形成しにくいブルカノ式噴火噴出物の分布を現地で把握するために，高分解能衛星画像が有効であった．現地踏査単独ではブルカノ式噴火噴出物の把握は難しいため，平常時より高分解能衛星画像や空中写真の整備など，噴火前後の微地形変化を比較できる準備が必要である．特定した本質物（パン皮状火山弾）を用いて，9/1噴火をもたらしたマグマの実態を推定した．含水量測定の結果より算出されたマグマ深度の差から，マグマ柱は鉛直方向に少なくとも180 m程度の高さであったと考えられる．

In this study, a new method for quantitative and efficient measurement for the ground surface movement was developed. The feature of this technique is to identify geomorphic characteristics by image matching analysis, using the intelligent images made from high resolution DEM(Digital Elevation Model). This method is useful to extract the small ground displacement where the surface shape was not intensely deformed.

地形再現性の高いデジタル地形データである航空機レーザスキャナDEM (ALSDEM) を用いて, 傾斜量図に高度段彩図を重ね合わせた新しい地形表現手法である「カラー標高傾斜図 (ELSAMAP) 」を開発し, 地形の判読性について検討した. ELSAMAPは標高と地形の情報を同時に表現するため, 両者の特徴を活かした直感的な地形判読が可能である. ELSAMAPを用いて十勝平野断層帯の2地区についてその有効性の検討を行った. その結果, 段丘面の区分および段丘面上の浸食・堆積地形を詳細に把握することができた. 十勝平野断層帯の北部においては稲穂断層に対応する断層変位地形が認められないこと, 広尾町上野塚の光地園断層においては, 丘陵地内の断片的な地形面が確認でき, 変位量を従来よりも精度よく判読できることがわかった. ELSAMAPは, 標高の微妙な変化を判読するような地形, 例えば低地の微地形, 段丘地形, 火山地形などの地形判読にとくに有効な地形表現であり, さまざまな地形発達史を考えるうえでの重要な基礎データを提供することが可能である.

By image matching method using multi temporal LiDAR-DEM, we measured the movement of landslide in two districts where the translational landslides had occurred in different conditions of topography and vegetation. The results of applying this method were consistent with the motion vector from the GPS measurement results of the current position. The horizontal displacement of 10 cm or more is detectable when using one meter grid size DEM. A classification due to the characteristics of the slope deformation can be performed based on the displacement vectors of the ground surface. The occurrence of ground fissures is able to foresee from the large difference of displacement, and the area classification of stress field is able to determine based on displacement vectors. This new method is effective to analysis of slope movement and for planning disaster mitigation. By repeated investigation by airborne laser scanner, it is possible to monitor the slope movement in large area.

平成15年十勝沖地震 (2003年9月26日発生; Mj8.0) により, 震央から約230km離れた北海道網走支庁常呂郡端野町で, シラスの液状化に起因する土砂流動災害が発生した. 変状は, 火砕流台地上において谷埋め盛土により造成された農地で発生したもので, 地表部に陥没と亀裂を伴う数千m3以上の土砂流動現象が生じ, 近傍の農地と小河川を埋積した. この現象は, 陥没域の低所側末端部に生じた数箇所の噴砂孔から, 多量の火山灰が絞り出されるように流出する間, 陥没域表層部の非液状化層が顕著に側方へ流動した痕跡がなく, 陥没に伴う地表亀裂からは噴砂がほとんど見られないことが特徴である. これは既往の地震時の液状化に起因する斜面変動と異なる形態的特徴と考えられ, 本報告では「絞り出し流動現象」と呼ぶ.今回変状が発生した谷埋め造成地は, 起伏量が小さく傾斜のゆるい丘陵地内にあり, 空中写真判読や地形図読図の手法で人工改変地形の範囲を特定することは簡単ではない. 本調査で実施した, 航空機レーザ地形計測による細密DEMに基づく地形量の視覚表現は, 微地形の再現性がよく, 大縮尺地形図のない丘陵地などの緩傾斜地において造成農地の形状を把握する手段として期待できる.

A series of earthquake faults was produced by the 2011 Fukushima Hamadori Earthquake (Mw 7.1), which broke out one month after the Great East Japan Earthquake. Two lines of earthquake faults appeared extending 30 km in length. They were inferred to be located partly on the active faults and partly on its extended line. The purpose of this presentation is to analyze these faults. We made use of a new method of airborne LiDAR data in the investigation of the displacement distribution by the earthquake. The results obtained fit generally well with the distribution data of net fault displacement produced by field investigation. Furthermore, the results suggest that the earthquake caused block tilting and land subsidence. Our new method makes available information difficult to obtain by the conventional method of field research of displacement distribution and it is useful for investigation immediately after the earthquake.

Mt. Unzen, located in Nagasaki Prefecture, erupted first in 17th November 1990, and has been active ever since. During its activity, pyro-clastic flows originated from growth and depression of lava domes and debris flows caused death and severe damage in the populated area.In this study, since the surveying area is under dangerous condition, there is great difficulty to keep observation sites in the damaged area.Thus, it is indeed valuable to use remote sensing method for monitoring of active volcanos.The use of aerial photographs taken at eleven different stages of volcanic activity enabled the easy comparison of geomorphological characteristics and volume calculation of volcanic products.Such continuous aerial surveying will be effective to estimate investigation of disaster prevention.

平成8年度科学技術庁交付金を受けて石川県が行っている森本断層調査事業の一環として, 同断層に沿う金沢市梅田町の梅田B遺跡 (主に弥生時代～古墳時代) でトレンチ調査が行われ, 活断層の露頭が出現した. 森本断層(三崎, 1980)は, 金沢市北方の海岸平野と丘陵を境する地形境界付近に推定されている, 長さ13kmの活断層である(第1図). 丘陵末端部の洪積層は海側へ40°～70°傾く撓曲構造をなしており(第2図), 1799年の寛政金沢地震がこの断層の活動によるとする指摘もある (寒川, 1986)が, 断層露頭は未発見だった. 新しい道路取り付けのため従来から行われていた遺跡の発掘調査で, 弥生時代の遺構面と水路が, 不自然に海側が高くなっているという指摘があり, 断層運動による撓曲の可能性を考えてトレンチ調査を行った. 長さ8m, 深さ6mの北西方向のトレンチの壁面に, 走向N38°E, 傾斜35°NW, 鉛直落差約1.Om の低角衝上断層の露頭が出現した (第3, 4, 5図). この露頭では, 下部の, よく固結した洪積層 (卯辰山層) がほぼ断層と同じ走向で海側へ40°傾斜し, 露頭上部の水平な未固結の沖積層 (厚さ4m程度) がそれを傾斜不整合で覆っている. 断層運動によって, 洪積層は剛体的に破断して断層に沿って変位しているが, 沖積層は流動変形して下部では押し被せ褶曲をなし, 上へ向かって次第に緩やかな撓曲へ移り変わっている. これらの構造は1回の断層運動で生じたもので, 変位の累積性はなく, 水平変位もほとんど見られない. この断層は海側が上昇した逆断層であり, 丘陵を隆起させてきた森本断層本体の運動とは逆センスなので, 主断層の活動に伴った層面すべり断層(吉岡, 1989)と思われる.トレンチの南北両面に見られる沖積層最上部のシルト層(炭質物の14C年代は2740±50YB. P. )はこの撓曲に参加して南東へ傾き, トレンチ北面では更に上位の弥生時代の腐植土層(同前, 2060±70Y. B, P. )もこの撓曲に参加しているように見える(第6図).上述のように, 断層を横切るトレンチ外の弥生時代の溝の遺構は変位しているが, トレンチの東半部に断面が現れているそれより新しい弥生時代の溝の遺構(同前, 1930±60Y. B. P. )は, 断層運動によって形成された擁曲崖の麓に沿って掘られた可能性がある. また, トレンチ西半部に断面が現れている古墳時代の溝の遺構(同前, 1410±50Y. B. P. )には変位が認められないことから, この断層運動(M6. 7以上の地震に相当)は約2000年前(±500年程度の不確実性があり得る)に発生した可能性が高い. 沖積層基底の炭質物の14年代は4430±60Y.B.P. なので, この断層はそれから現在までの間に1回だけ動いたことになる.周辺地域での従来の地質踏査, ボーリング調査および弾性波探査によると, 卯辰山層基底の高度は森本断層の両側で600mほど食い違っている. この変位が最近80万年間で起きたと仮定すると, 森本断層の平均変位速度はおよそ0.75m/1000年となる. 上述のように, 今回発見されたのは副次的な層面すべり断層と考えられ, 主断層のずれの量はもっと大きかった可能性が高い. 主断層が1mを越す変位を生じたとすると, 森本断層だけではなく, 南方延長の野町断層や富樫断層なども同時に動いた可能性があり, 今後の研究課題である.森本断層は, これまで確実度II(推定), 活動度B(0.1-1m/1000年)とされていた(活断層研究会, 1991)が, 今回の発見によって活断層であることが確実になり, 約2000年前にかなりの規模の地震を起こしたことがはっきりした. また, 今回発見された露頭は, 堆積物の固結の程度によって変形の様子が全く異なることを如実に示しており, 平坦な沖積平野の地下数mにも, このような活断層が隠れていることを証明した点で意義深い.
