A spatially extended Lotka-Volterra system of two competing species in the presence of two correlated noise sources is analyzed: (i) an external multiplicative time correlated noise, which mimics the interaction between the system and the environment; (ii) a dichotomous stochastic process, whose jump rate is a periodic function, which represents the interaction parameter between the species. The moment equations for the species densities are derived in Gaussian approximation, using a mean field approach. Within this formalism we study the effect of the external time correlated noise on the ecosystem dynamics. We find that the time behavior of the $1^{st}$ order moments are independent on the multiplicative noise source. However the behavior of the $2^{nd}$ order moments is strongly affected both by the intensity and the correlation time of the multiplicative noise. Finally we compare our results with those obtained studying the system dynamics by a coupled map lattice model., 12 pages, 7 figures, to appear in Acta Phys. Pol. B

In this work we derive and analyse coarse-grained descriptions of self-propelled particles with selective attraction–repulsion interaction, where individuals may respond differently to their neighbours depending on their relative state of motion (approach versus movement away). Based on the formulation of a nonlinear Fokker–Planck equation, we derive a kinetic description of the system dynamics in terms of equations for the Fourier modes of the one-particle density function. This approach allows effective numerical investigation of the stability of solutions of the nonlinear Fokker–Planck equation. Further on, we also derive a hydrodynamic theory by performing a closure at the level of the second Fourier mode of the one-particle density function. We show that the general form of equations is in agreement with the theory formulated by Toner and Tu. The stability of spatially homogeneous solutions is analysed and the range of validity of the hydrodynamic equations is quantified. Finally, we compare our analytical predictions on the stability of the homogeneous solutions with results of individual-based simulations. They show good agreement for sufficiently large densities and non-negligible short-ranged repulsion. The results of the kinetic theory for weak short-ranged repulsion reveal the existence of a previously unknown phase of the model consisting of dense, nematically aligned filaments, which cannot be accounted for by the present hydrodynamics theory of the Toner and Tu type for polar active matter.

We consider motion of an underdamped Brownian particle in a washboard potential that is subjected to an unbiased time-periodic external field. While in the limiting deterministic system in dependence of the strength and phase of the external field directed net motion can exist, for a finite temperature the net motion averages to zero. Strikingly, with the application of an additional time-delayed feedback term directed particle motion can be accomplished persisting up to fairly high levels of the thermal noise. In detail, there exist values of the feedback strength and delay time for which the feedback term performs oscillations that are phase locked to the time-periodic external field. This yields an effective biasing rocking force promoting periods of forward and backward motion of distinct duration, and thus directed motion. In terms of phase space dynamics we demonstrate that with applied feedback desymmetrization of coexisting attractors takes place leaving the ones supporting either positive or negative velocities as the only surviving ones. Moreover, we found parameter ranges for which in the presence of thermal noise the directed transport is enhanced compared to the noise-less case.

Granular flows through pipes show interesting phenomena, e.g. clogging and density waves, 1/f-noise. These things are fairly good studied by computer-experiments, but there is a lack in theoretical and analytical consideration. We introduce a simple "minimal" model describing such a flow of granular particles and examine the stability of an initially homogeneous system against perturbations. In order to define the collisions between the granular particles we use two different approaches. We consider networks of coupled stochastic oscillators. When coupled we find strong collective oscillations, while each unit remains stochastic. In the limit (N\to \infty) we derive a system of integro-delay equations and show analytically that the collective oscillations persist in a large region in parameter. For a regular topology with \emph{few} connections between the oscillators, islands of coherent oscillations are formed, which merge as the amount of topological disorder increases. Das Konzept von aktiven Brownschen Teilchen kann benutzt werden, um das Verhalten einfacher biologischer Organismen oder künstlicher Objekte, welche die Möglichkeit besitzen sich von selbst fortzubewegen zu beschreiben. Als Bewegungsgleichungen für aktive Brownsche Teilchen kommen Langevin Gleichungen zum Einsatz. In dieser Arbeit werden aktive Teilchen mit konstanter Geschwindigkeit diskutiert. Im ersten Teil der Arbeit wirkt auf die Bewegungsrichtung des Teilchen weißes alpha-stabiles Rauschen. Es werden die mittlere quadratische Verschiebung und der effektive Diffusionskoeffizient bestimmt. Eine überdampfte Beschreibung, gültig für Zeiten groß gegenüber der Relaxationszeit wird hergleitet. Als experimentell zugängliche Meßgröße, welche als Unterscheidungsmerkmal für die unterschiedlichen Rauscharten herangezogen werden kann, wird die Kurtose berechnet. Neben weißem Rauschen wird noch der Fall eines Ornstein-Uhlenbeck Prozesses angetrieben von Cauchy verteiltem Rauschen diskutiert. Während eine normale Diffusion mit zu weißem Rauschen identischem Diffusionskoeffizienten bestimmt wird, kann die beobachtete Verteilung der Verschiebungen Nicht-Gaußförmig sein. Die Zeit für den Übergang zur Gaußverteilung kann deutlich größer als die Zeitskale Relaxationszeit und die Zeitskale des Ornstein-Uhlenbeck Prozesses sein. Eine Grenze der benötigten Zeit wird durch eine Näherung der Kurtosis ermittelt. Weiterhin werden die Grundlagen eines stochastischen Modells für lokale Suche gelegt. Lokale Suche ist die Suche in der näheren Umgebung eines bestimmten Punktes, welcher Haus genannt wird. Abermals diskutieren wir ein aktives Teilchen mit unveränderlichem Absolutbetrag der Geschwindigkeit und weißen alpha-stabilem Rauschen in der Bewegungsrichtungsdynamik. Die deterministische Bewegung des Teilchens wird analysiert bevor die Situation mit Rauschen betrachtet wird. Die stationäre Aufenthaltswahrscheinlichkeitsdichtefunktion wird bestimmt. Es wird eine optimale Rauschstärke für die lokale Suche, das heißt für das Auffinden eines neuen Ortes in kleinstmöglicher Zeit festgestellt. Die kleinstmögliche Zeit wird kaum von der Rauschart abhängen. Wir werden jedoch feststellen, dass die Rauschart deutlichen Einfluß auf die Rückkehrwahrscheinlichkeit zum Haus hat, wenn die Richtung des zu Hauses fehlerbehaftet ist. Weiterhin wird das Model durch eine an das Haus abstandsabhängige Kopplung erweitert werden. Zum Abschluß betrachten wir eine Gruppe von Suchern. Active Brownian particles described by Langevin equations are used to model the behavior of simple biological organisms or artificial objects that are able to perform self propulsion. In this thesis we discuss active particles with constant speed. In the first part, we consider angular driving by white Levy-stable noise and we discuss the mean squared displacement and diffusion coefficients. We derive an overdamped description for those particles that is valid at time scales larger the relaxation time. In order to provide an experimentally accessible property that distinguishes between the considered noise types, we derive an analytical expression for the kurtosis. Afterwards, we consider an Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process driven by Cauchy noise in the angular dynamics of the particle. While, we find normal diffusion with the diffusion coefficient identical to the white noise case we observe a Non-Gaussian displacement at time scales that can be considerable larger than the relaxation time and the time scale provided by the Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process. In order to provide a limit for the time needed for the transition to a Gaussian displacement, we approximate the kurtosis. Afterwards, we lay the foundation for a stochastic model for local search. Local search is concerned with the neighborhood of a given spot called home. We consider an active particle with constant speed and alpha-stable noise in the dynamics of the direction of motion. The deterministic motion will be discussed before considering the noise to be present. An analytical result for the steady state spatial density will be given. We will find an optimal noise strength for the local search and only a weak dependence on the considered noise types. Several extensions to the introduced model will then be considered. One extension includes a distance dependent coupling towards the home and thus the model becomes more general. Another extension concerned with an erroneous understanding by the particle of the direction of the home leads to the result that the return probability to the home depends on the noise type. Finally we consider a group of searchers.

Die vorliegende Arbeit befasst sich mit der Verallgemeinerung von Reaktions-Diffusions-Systemen auf Subdiffusion. Die subdiffusive Dynamik auf mesoskopischer Skala wurde mittels Continuous-Time Random Walks mit breiten Wartezeitverteilungen modelliert. Die Reaktion findet auf mikroskopischer Skala, d.h. während der Wartezeiten, statt und unterliegt dem Massenwirkungsgesetz. Die resultierenden Integro-Differentialgleichungen weisen im Integralkern des Transportterms eine Abhängigkeit von der Reaktion auf. Im Falle der Degradation A->0 wurde ein allgemeiner Ausdruck für die Lösungen beliebiger Dirichlet-Randwertprobleme hergeleitet. Die Annahme, dass die Reaktion dem Massenwirkungsgesetz unterliegt, ist eine entscheidende Voraussetzung für die Existenz stationärer Profile unter Subdiffusion. Eine nichtlineare Reaktion stellt die irreversible autokatalytische Reaktion A+B->2A unter Subdiffusion dar. Es wurde ein Analogon zur Fisher-Kolmogorov-Petrovskii-Piscounov-Gleichung (FKPP) aufgestellt und die resultierenden propagierenden Fronten untersucht. Numerische Simulationen legten die Existenz zweier Regimes nahe, die sowohl mittels eines Crossover-Argumentes als auch durch analytische Berechnungen untersucht wurden. Das erste Regime ist charakterisiert durch eine Front, deren Breite und Geschwindigkeit sich mit der Zeit verringert. Das zweite, fluktuationsdominierte Regime liegt nicht im Geltungsbereich der kontinuierlichen Gleichung und weist eine stärkere Abnahme der Frontgeschwindigkeit sowie eine atomar scharf definierte Front auf. Ein anderes Szenario, bei dem eine Spezies A in ein mit immobilen B-Partikeln besetztes Medium hineindiffundiert und gemäß dem Schema A+B->(inert) reagiert, wurde ebenfalls betrachtet. Diese Anordnung wurde näherungsweise als ein Randwertproblem mit einem beweglichen Rand (Stefan-Problem) formuliert. Die analytisch gewonnenen Ergebnisse bzgl. der Position des beweglichen Randes wurden durch numerische Simulationen untermauert. The present work studies the generalization of reaction-diffusion schemes to subdiffusion. The subdiffusive dynamics was modelled by means of continuous-time random walks on a mesoscopic scale with a heavy-tailed waiting time pdf lacking the first moment. The reaction was assumed to take place on a microscopic scale, i.e. during the waiting times, obeying the mass action law. The resultant equations are of integro-differential form, and the reaction explicitly affects the transport term. The long ranged memory of the subdiffusion kernel is modified by a factor accounting for the reaction of particles during the waiting times. The degradation A->0 was considered and a general expression for the solution to arbitrary Dirichlet Boundary Value Problems was derived. For stationary solutions to exist in reaction-subdiffusion, the assumption of reactions according to classical rate kinetics is essential. As an example for a nonlinear reaction-subdiffusion system, the irreversible autocatalytic reaction A+B->2A under subdiffusion is considered. A subdiffusive analogue of the classical Fisher-Kolmogorov-Petrovskii-Piscounov (FKPP) equation was derived and the resultant propagating fronts were studied. Two different regimes were detected in numerical simulations, and were discussed using both crossover arguments and analytic calculations. The first regime is characterized by a decaying front velocity and width. The fluctuation dominated regime is not within the scope of the continuous description. The velocity of the front decays faster in time than in the continuous regime, and the front is atomically sharp. Another setup where reactants A penetrate a medium initially filled with immobile reactants B and react according to the scheme A+B->(inert) was also considered. This problem was approximately described in terms of a moving boundary problem (Stefan-problem). The theoretical predictions concerning the moving boundary were corroborated by numerical simulations.

Der Charakter der Schwellwertdynamik vieler physikalischer, chemischer und biologischer Systeme hat sich in neueren Experimenten als im wesentlichen nicht Markowsch herausgestellt. In diesem Fall sind die "Ubergangsraten von der Zeit und den Anfangsbedingungen abh"angig und es stellen sich komplexe Wahrscheinlichkeitsverteilungen f"ur die erste Durchgangszeit ein. In dieser Arbeit werden verschiedene Aspekte nicht Markowscher Schwellwertprobleme und deren Anwendung bei der Beschreibung der Dynamik von Neuronen untersucht. In dieser Arbeit entwickeln wir einen analytischen Zugang zu nicht Markowschen Problemen, dem die Theorie der Schwellwert"uberschreitung zu Grunde liegt. Im Ergebnis erhalten wir mehrere analytische N"aherungen f"ur die Wahrscheinlichkeitsverteilung der ersten Durchgangszeit f"ur Zufallsprozesse mit differenzierbaren Trajektorien. Die Qualit"at und der G"ultigkeitsbereich der N"aherungen werden von uns sorgf"altig untersucht. Die abgeleiteten N"aherungen decken dabei den gesamten Bereich zwischen fast Markowschen und stark nicht Markowschen Problemen ab. Diese analytischen N"aherungen werden in Kombination mit numerischen Methoden genutzt, um Spikemuster in resonanten und nicht-resonanten Neuronen zu untersuchen. Im Besonderen haben wir uns dabei f"ur die Entstehung spontaner, durch zellinternes Rauschen hervorgerufener, Spikemuster in stellaten (resonanten) und pyramidalen (nicht-resonanten) Zellen des entorhinalen Kortex in Ratten interessiert. Diese zwei Neuronentypen zeigten deutliche Unterschiede in den Spikemustern, die den jeweiligen Unterschieden in den unterschwelligen Dynamiken zuzuordnen sind. Des weiteren wurden negative Korrelationen in den Spikesequenzen f"ur beide Neuronentypen gefunden. Um diese negativen Korrelationen angemessen zu beschreiben, haben wir einen nicht erneuerbaren Schwellenmechanismus in das Resonate-and-Fire Modell integriert., Recent experiments revealed the non-Markovian character of the escape dynamics in many physical, chemical and biological systems on time scales prior to relaxation. The escape rates in the non-Markovian case are time-dependent and the escape times are dictated by the initial conditions. Complex, multipeak distributions of the first passage time are characteristic for the non-Markovian case. In this thesis we investigate various aspects of the non-Markovian first passage time problem and in particular its application to the dynamics of neurons. We elaborate an analytical approach to the non-Markovian first passage time problem, which is based on the theory of level-crossings, and obtain several analytical approximations for the first passage time density of a random process with differentiable trajectories. We compare the quality of these approximations and ascertain their regions of validity. Our approximations are applicable and provide accurate results for different types of dynamics, ranging from almost Markovian to strongly non-Markovian cases. These analytical approximations in combination with numerical methods are applied to investigate the spike patterns observed in resonant and nonresonant neurons. In particular, we focus on spontaneous (driven by intrinsic noise) spike patterns obtained in stellate (resonant) and pyramidal (nonresonant) cells in the entorhinal cortex in rat. These two types of neurons exhibit striking different spike patterns attributed to the differences in their subthreshold dynamics. We show that the resonate-and-fire model with experimentally estimated parameter values can quantitatively reproduce the interspike interval distributions measured in resonant as well as in nonresonant cells. We also found negative interspike interval correlations in both types of neurons. To capture these negative correlations, we introduce a novel nonrenewal threshold mechanism in the resonate-and-fire model.

Molekulardynamik (MD) Simulationen wurden an zwei verschiedenen Systemen durchgeführt: 1. Grenzfläche zwischen Polyethylen und isotaktischem Polypropylen (PE-iPP) und 2. Zylindrische Mizellen, bestehend aus Tetradecyltrimethylammoniumbromid (C14TAB), in wässriger Lösung und an Fest-Flüssig-Grenzflächen. Die allgemeinen Schwierigkeiten bei der Simulation von Grenzflächen kristalliner Polymere wurden diskutiert und eine Methode für solche Simulationen vorgeschlagen. Diese Methode wurde zur epitaxialen Kristallisation von PE auf iPP benutzt. Experimentelle Ergebnisse der epitaxialen Kristallisation konnten durch die Simulation bestätigt werden. Ferner konnte vorhergesagt werden, dass PE bevorzugt auf einer iPP-Oberfläche mit hoher Methylgruppenkonzentration kristallisiert. Ebenso wurde durch die MD Simulation vorhergesagt, dass PE in der Grenzflächenregion von einer orthorhombischen zur monoklinischen Kristallstruktur wechselt. Die Simulationsdauer für die Mizellen betrug einige Nanosekunden. Die Ergebnisse für die Mizellen in wässriger Lösung stehen hierbei in guter Übereinstimmung mit experimentellen Werten. Im Widerspruch zur allgemein üblichen Vorstellung führte die Simulation der Mizellen zur Ausbildung eines Hohlraums in ihrer Mitte sowie zu einer inhomogenen Dichte des hydrophoben Mizellkerns. Dies wurde zum Teil der inhomogenen Verteilung der terminalen Methylgruppen im Mizellkern zugeschrieben. Zylindrische und halbzylindrische Mizellen wurden an den Paraffin/Wasser- und Gold/Wasser-Grenzflächen simuliert., Molecular Dynamic (MD) simulation of two different systems was performed: 1) Polyethylene- isotactic Polypropylene (PE-iPP) interfaces and 2) cylindrical micelles formed by tetradecyl trimethylammonium bromide (C14TAB) molecules in aqueous solution and at solid liquid interfaces. The general difficulties of simulation of polymer crystalline interfaces were discussed and one method was proposed for such simulations. Thise method was used to simulate epitaxial crystallisation of PE on iPP. The experimental results on epitaxial crystallisation were confirmed by MD simulation and in addition epitaxial crystallisation of PE on iPP surface with high dencity of methyl groups was predicted. MD simulation also predicted that PE should change at the interfacial region from the orthorhombic to monoclinic crystalline structure. Several nanoseconds of life of cylindrical micelles were simulated. The simulation results for the micelle in aqueous solution were favourably compared with experimental results. In contradiction to the standard picture of an ionic micelle the simulated micelle formed hole in its centre and the density of the hydrophobic micelle core was inhomogeneous. This effect partially was explained by the inhomogeneous distribution of the terminal methyl groups in the micelle core. Cylindrical and half cylindrical micelles of C14TAB molecules were simulated at the paraffin- and gold-aqueous interfaces.

In der vorliegenden Arbeit werden Musterbildungsphänomene auf Submikrometerskalen in reaktiven Adsorbaten auf einkristallinen Katalysatoroberflächen theoretisch untersucht. Da auf solch kleinen Skalen Fluktuationen nicht mehr vernachlässigt werden können, wird eine mesoskopische Theorie entwickelt, die zwischen mikroskopischen Gittermodellen und Reaktions-Diffusions-Systemen vermittelt. Sie beschreibt die Dynamik lokal gemittelter Adsorbatbedeckungen im Rahmen eines Kontinuumsmodells unter Berücksichtigung interner Fluktuationen. Dieser Ansatz wird auf verschiedene Systeme angewendet, in denen sich Muster auf Längenskalen ausbilden, die kleiner als die charakterist ische Diffusionslänge sind, die typischerweise im Mikrometerbereich liegt. Wie beispielsweise in kürzlich durchgefh hrten Experimenten mit einem vergleichsweise schnellen Rastertunnelmikroskop beobachtet wurde, können attraktive Adsorbat-Adsorbat-Wech sel wirkungen zu verschiedenen Mustern auf Nanometerskalen führen. Hier wird zunächst eine einzelne Adsorbatspezies betrachtet. In Abwesenheit von Nichtgleichgewichtsreaktionen können hinreichend starke attraktive laterale Adsorbatwechselwirkungen einen Phasenh bergang erster Ordnung in der Adsorbatbedeckung induzieren. Die mesoskopische Entwicklungsgleichung wird auf die Modellierung der Kinetik dieses Phasenh bergangs angewendet. Berücksichtigt man zusätzlich eine Nichtgleichgewichtsreakti on, so können sich stationäre räumlich periodische Mikrostrukturen aufgrund der Konkurrenz zwischen dem Phasenh bergang und der Reaktion ausbilden. Die Vorraussetzungen für deren Auftreten und ihre charakteristischen Eigenschaften werden hier detailliert analysiert. Unter anderem werden alternierende Wechselwirkungen diskutiert und der Einfluß globaler Kopplung durch die Gasphase auf die Musterbildung wird betrachtet. Außerdem wird gezeigt, da8 die Mikrostrukturen auch durch vergleichsweise starke interne Fluktuationen nicht zerstört werden. Im nächsten Schritt wird ein hypothetisches Modell für zwei verschiedene Adsorbatspezies untersucht, in dem ein ähnlicher Mechanismus zur Bildung von laufenden und stehenden Wellenmustern auf der Nanoskala führt. Werden vergleichsweise starke interne Fluktuationen berücksichtigt, so brechen diese Wellenmuster auf und man beobachtet eine komplexe Dynamik miteinander wechselwirkender Wellenfragmente. Im letzten Beispiel wird anhand der Analyse eines einfachen Modells gezeigt, da8 sich auf Skalen unterhalb der Diffusionslänge selbstorganisierte Mikroreaktoren in einer einzelnen reaktiven Adsorbatspezies ausbilden können, ohne daß die Teilchen miteinander wechselwirken. Sie entsprechen lokalisierten Strukturen, die aufgrund des Zusammenspiels einer Nichtgleichgewichtsreaktion, der Diffusion und eines adsorbatinduzierten strukturellen Phasenh bergangs in der Substratoberfläche entstehen., Nanoscale pattern formation in reactive adsorbates on single crystal surfaces is investigated theoretically. Because on such small scales fluctuations become important, a mesoscopic theory for the adsorbate coverage is developed, which aims at providing a link between microscopic lattice models and reaction-diffusion equations. It describes the dynamics for the locally averaged adsorbate coverages in a continuum model taking into account internal fluctuations. This approach is applied to several systems, where patterns on scales smaller than the characteristic diffusion length, which typically lies in the micrometer range, can be formed. As has been observed e.g. in recent experiments with fast scanning tunneling microscopy, a variety of nanoscale patterns can result from the presence of attractive adsorbate-adsorbate interactions. Here, at first a single species of such an adsorbate is considered. In the absence of nonequilibrium reactions, strong enough attractive lateral interactions can induce a first-order phase transition in the adsorbate coverage. The mesoscopic evolution equation is applied to model the kinetics of this phase transition. If additionally a nonequilibrium reaction is present, stationary spatially periodic microstructures may arise as a result of the competition of the attractive lateral interactions and the reactions. The conditions for their appearance and their properties are investigated in detail, e.g. alternating lateral interactions are discussed and the influence of global coupling through the gas phase is analyzed. Furthermore, it is shown that they are not destroyed by relatively strong internal fluctuations. In the next step, a hypothetical model for two different reactive adsorbate species is investigated, where a similar mechanism leads to the formation of nanoscale traveling and standing waves. In the presence of relatively strong internal fluctuations these waves break up and a complex dynamics of interacting wave fragments is observed. In the last example, it is shown in the analysis of a simple model that self-organized nonequilibrium microreactors with submicrometer sizes may spontaneously develop in a single reactive adsorbate species without attractive lateral interactions. They represent localized structures resulting from the interplay between reaction, diffusion and an adsorbate-induced structural transformation of the surface.

Für die erfolgreiche Lösung eines Optimierungsproblems ist die Wahl der verwendeten Suchstrategie von entscheidender Bedeutung. Die vorliegende Arbeit untersucht die Kriterien dieser Wahl. Dabei stellen sich drei grundlegende Fragen: Welche Strategien der Optimierung eines gegebenen Problems existieren überhaupt, und was für Eigenschaften besitzen sie? Wodurch wird der Charakter eines Optimierungsproblems bestimmt, und gibt es Klassen ähnlicher Probleme? Besteht eine Verbindung zwischen den Eigenschaften der Strategien und den Klassen der Probleme, die es ermöglicht, für jede Problemklasse eine geeignete Optimierungsstrategie anzugeben? Dazu wird zuerst die Klasse der Evolutionären Algorithmen naher betrachtet, deren generelles Verhalten die Boltzmannstrategie, Darwinstrategie oder Boltzmann-Darwin-Strategie beschreiben. Als weiteres Beispiel wird die Multitome Strategie untersucht. In ihr wird das Problem unter verschiedenen Gesichtspunkten betrachtet und in Einzelanforderungen zerlegt, die abwechselnd optimiert werden. Für den speziellen Fall der Dichotomen Strategie wird die allgemeine zeitabhängige Lösung mit Hilfe der Methode der Charakteristiken bestimmt. Zur Beantwortung der zweiten Frage wird die Zustandsdichte als klassifizierende Größe des Optimierungsproblems eingeführt. Sie kann unter Verwendung der Boltzmannstrategie während des Optimierungslaufes durch zwei allgemeine Approximationsmethoden: die Methode der stationären Verteilungen und die Eigenvektormethode bestimmt werden. Aus der Zustandsdichte erhält man den Wirkungsgrad der Zufallssuche. Er charakterisiert den Ordnungsgrad des Problems und stellt damit ein wichtiges Maß der Problemschwierigkeit dar. Die entscheidende dritte Frage wird für Probleme der Optimierung frustrierter Sequenzen, der Netzwerkoptimierung und für das Faltungsproblem der RNA behandelt. Mit der Einführung der Klassen gerichteter und ungerichteter Strategien, die für Optimierungsprobleme mit niedrigem bzw. hohem Wirkungsgrad der Zufallssuche effektiv sind, kann eine Verbindung zwischen dem Strategieverhalten und dem Problemcharakter hergestellt werden, die es ermöglicht, für eine konkrete Optimierungsaufgabe die Klasse der geeigneten Strategien zu wählen. A crucial point of successful solving an optimization problem is the choice of the used strategy. The present paper investigates the criteria of this choice. Thereby three fundamental questions put themselves: Which strategies of the optimization of a given problem exist altogether, and which properties characterize the strategies? How is the character of an optimization problem determined, and are there classes of similar problems? Does a combination exist between the characteristics of the strategies and the classes of problems, which makes it possible to indicate a suitable strategy for each class? The class of the Evolutionary Algorithms is considered more closely. The general behavior of the algorithms can be described by the Boltzmann strategy, Darwin strategy or Boltzmann-Darwin strategy. As a further example the Multitomic strategy is explored. In this approach the problem is considered under different points of view and decomposes in single demands, which are optimized alternately. For the special case of the Dichotomic strategy the general time dependent solution is determined. To answer the second question the density of states is introduced as classifying measure of optimization problems. The density can be determined during the optimization course by two general approaches: the method of the stationary distribution and the eigenvalue method. From the density of states one receives the efficiency of the random search. It describes the degree of order of the problem and presents an measure of the problem difficulty. The important third question is treated for problems of the optimization of frustrated sequences, the network optimization and RNA folding. The introduction of the classes of directed and non directed strategies, which are effective for problems with low and high efficiency of the random search, establishes a connection between the strategy and the character of the problem, which makes it possible to choose the class of the suitable strategies for a given optimization task.
