Aims: This work was designed to identify the subgroup of advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients for whom treatments containing immune checkpoint blockers (ICBs) were most effective. Materials & methods: A meta-analysis was performed to explore the subgroup population with the greatest benefit of treatments containing ICBs. Results: A total of 2228 patients from four randomized control trials were included. Treatments containing ICBs had better overall survival, progression-free survival and higher objective response rate over treatment without ICBs. Subgroup analysis revealed that treatments containing ICBs were highly effective in improving the overall survival of males, patients with macrovascular invasion and/or extrahepatic spread and viral-related HCC patients. Conclusion: Treatments containing ICBs are more effective for males, patients with macrovascular invasion and/or extrahepatic spread and viral-related HCC patients.

This conceptual analysis explores the factors influencing the growth performance of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in China, with a focus on entrepreneurial capabilities. It provides an overview of SMEs in China, emphasizing their significance in the country's business landscape. The study underscores the importance of entrepreneurial capabilities in fostering SME growth and highlights key capabilities required for success in the Chinese context. Furthermore, it discusses the dynamic perspective in understanding SME growth, considering the evolving nature of entrepreneurial capabilities and their interaction with external factors over time. The analysis also incorporates case studies and empirical evidence to support the relationship between entrepreneurial capabilities and SME growth in China. The paper concludes by discussing implications for researchers, policymakers, and SME owners, and suggests future research directions to further explore the dynamic perspective on SME growth in China.

We aimed to assess the value of dose distribution-based dosiomics and planning computed tomography-based radiomics to predict radiation-induced temporal lobe injury (TLI) and guide individualized intensity modulated radiation therapy.A total of 5599 nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients were enrolled, including 2503, 1072, 988, and 1036 patients in the training, validation, prospective test, and external test cohorts, respectively. The concordance index (C-index) was used to compare the performance of the radiomics and dosiomics models with that of the quantitative analyses of normal tissue effects in the clinic and Wen's models. The predicted TLI-free survival rates of redesigned simulated plans with the same dose-volume histogram but different dose distributions for same patient in a cohort of 30 randomly selected patients were compared by the Wilcoxon matched-pairs signed-rank test.The radiomics and dosiomics signatures were constructed based on 30 selected computed tomography features and 10 selected dose distribution features, respectively, which were important predictors of TLI-free survival (all P.001). However, the radiomics signature had a low C-index. The dosiomics risk model combining the dosiomics signature, DThe dosiomics risk model was superior to traditional models in predicting the risk of TLI. This is a promising approach to precisely predict radiation-induced toxicities and guide individualized intensity modulated radiation therapy.

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) play a crucial role in driving economic growth and development in China. Understanding the factors that influence SME growth performance is vital for policymakers, researchers, and entrepreneurs. This conceptual paper explores the determinants of SME growth in China by examining the impact of government policies and support, access to finance, market opportunities, innovation and technology adoption, supply chain integration, human capital and talent, the regulatory environment, internationalization and export, networking and business support services, and infrastructure development. Drawing on relevant literature, this paper provides a comprehensive overview of these factors and their implications for SME growth. The findings highlight the need for targeted policy interventions, improved access to finance, effective market strategies, innovation-driven approaches, supply chain optimization, talent development, regulatory reforms, international trade facilitation, networking activities, and infrastructure enhancement to foster SME growth in China. The study contributes to the existing body of knowledge by synthesizing key factors and providing insights for future research and practical implications.

Background: The current first-line (1L) standard of care (SOC) for human epidermal growth factor receptor 2-positive (HER2+) metastatic breast cancer (MBC) is trastuzumab (T) plus pertuzumab (P) and a taxane. Despite advances in 1L SOC, most patients (pts) progress during maintenance therapy with T+P. Tucatinib is a tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) approved in combination with T and capecitabine for adults with HER2+ MBC, with and without brain metastases (BM). In HER2CLIMB, the addition of tucatinib significantly prolonged progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) in pts with HER2+ MBC and was well tolerated. Adding tucatinib also reduced the risk of disease progression or death in pts with untreated and/or active BM (Murthy et al. 2020, Curigliano et al. 2021). HER2CLIMB-05 investigates whether adding tucatinib to 1L SOC as maintenance therapy will extend PFS while maintaining quality of life (QOL). Methods: HER2CLIMB-05 (NCT05132582) is a phase 3, randomized, double-blind study evaluating tucatinib plus T+P as maintenance therapy for HER2+ MBC. Approximately 650 pts will be enrolled. Eligible pts will have advanced HER2+ disease, no progression on 4–8 cycles of prior 1L SOC, ECOG Performance Status of 0 or 1, and no or asymptomatic BM. Exclusion criteria include prior treatment with anti-HER2 and/or anti-epidermal growth factor receptor TKI (prior SOC for early BC is permitted) or inability to undergo contrast magnetic resonance imaging of the brain. Pts will be randomized 1:1 to receive either tucatinib or placebo twice daily, with T+P once every 21 days. Pts with HR+ disease may receive endocrine therapy. The primary endpoint is investigator-assessed PFS. Secondary endpoints include OS (key endpoint), time to deterioration of health-related QOL, central nervous system PFS, safety, and pharmacokinetic (PK) parameters. PFS and OS will be compared using a 2-sided stratified log-rank test between treatment groups. Time-to-event endpoints will be summarized using the Kaplan–Meier method. PK and safety data will be summarized using descriptive statistics. Enrollment is ongoing in the US, with additional sites planned. Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related death in many countries, and an accurate histopathological diagnosis is of great importance in subsequent treatment. The aim of this study was to establish the random forest (RF) model based on radiomic features to automatically classify and predict lung adenocarcinoma (ADC), lung squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), and small cell lung cancer (SCLC) on unenhanced computed tomography (CT) images. Eight hundred and fifty-two patients (mean age: 61.4, range: 29–87, male/female: 536/316) with preoperative unenhanced CT and postoperative histopathologically confirmed primary lung cancers, including 525 patients with ADC, 161 patients with SCC, and 166 patients with SCLC, were included in this retrospective study. Radiomic features were extracted, selected, and then used to establish the RF classification model to analyse and classify primary lung cancers into three subtypes, including ADC, SCC, and SCLC according to histopathological results. The training (446 ADC, 137 SCC, and 141 SCLC) and testing cohorts (79 ADC, 24 SCC, and 25 SCLC) accounted for 85% and 15% of the whole datasets, respectively. The prediction performance of the RF classification model was evaluated by F1 scores and the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve. On the testing cohort, the areas under the ROC curve (AUC) of the RF model in classifying ADC, SCC, and SCLC were 0.74, 0.77, and 0.88, respectively. The F1 scores achieved 0.80, 0.40, and 0.73 in ADC, SCC, and SCLC, respectively, and the weighted average F1 score was 0.71. In addition, for the RF classification model, the precisions were 0.72, 0.64, and 0.70; the recalls were 0.86, 0.29, and 0.76; and the specificities were 0.55, 0.96, and 0.92 in ADC, SCC, and SCLC. The primary lung cancers were feasibly and effectively classified into ADC, SCC, and SCLC based on the combination of RF classification model and radiomic features, which has the potential for noninvasive predicting histological subtypes of primary lung cancers.

To investigate the main feature and the association between euglycemic diabetic ketoacidosis (euDKA) /diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) and sodium-dependent glucose transporters 2 inhibitors (SGLT-2i) from the FDA adverse event reporting system (FAERS).Cases of SGLT-2i-associated with euDKA/DKA were extracted from the FAERS database and compared with the reports for other hypoglycemia agents (ATC10 class). Disproportionality analyses used the reporting odds ratio (ROR) and information components (IC). The lower limit of the IC 95% credibility interval for IC 0 is considered a reported signal, with at least 3 cases.A total of 10,195 cases of euDKA (n = 1680) and DKA (n = 8515) associated with SGLT-2i were identified from the FAERS. The SGLT-2i was associated with higher reporting of euDKA and DKA compared to other hypoglycemia agents (ROR = 16.69 [95% CI 14.89-18.70], IC = 3.27 [95% CI 2.91-3.66] for euDKA; ROR = 16.44 [95% CI 15.72-17.20], IC = 3.19 [95% CI 3.05-3.34] for DKA). In available data, the median onset time of euDKA/DKA was 31 days, and canagliflozin had the longest onset time (96.5 days for euDKA and 75 days for DKA) compared with dapagliflozin and empagliflozin (p 0.05). Male patients predominate in euDKA (51.9%), and female patients predominate in DKA (53.7%). Most patients discontinue the treatment (95.5% for euDKA, 93.9% for DKA), and approximately 49.0% (n = 3658) of patients had symptomatic remission after discontinuation of SGLT-2i, and 2.3% (n = 173) of patients had no remission. About 75.6% (n = 6126) of patients need hospitalization after euDKA/DKA.Post-marketing data showed that SGLT-2i was significantly associated with higher reporting of euDKA/DKA. Although euDKA/DKA is rare, clinicians should be aware of SGLT-2i-associated euDKA/DKA events.

Due to the current limitations of three-dimensional (3D) simulation graphics technology, mind wandering commonly occurs in virtual reality tasks, which has impeded it being applied more extensively. The right ventrolateral prefrontal cortex (rVLPFC) plays a vital role in executing continuous two-dimensional (2D) mental paradigms, and transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) over this cortical region has been shown to successfully modulate sustained 2D attention. Accordingly, we further explored the effects of electrical activation of the rVLPFC on 3D attentional tasks using anodal high-definition (HD)-tDCS. A 3D Go/No-go (GNG) task was developed to compare the after effects of real and sham brain stimulation. Specifically, GNG tasks were periodically interrupted to assess the subjective perception of attentional level, behavioral reactions were tracked and decomposed into an underlying decision cognition process, and electroencephalography data were recorded to calculate event-related potentials (ERPs) in rVLPFC. The p-values statistically indicated that HD-tDCS improved the subjective mentality, led to more cautious decisions, and enhanced neuronal discharging in rVLPFC. Additionally, the neurophysiological P300 ERP component and stimulation being active or sham could effectively predict several objective outcomes. These findings indicate that the comprehensive approach including brain stimulation, 3D mental paradigm, and cross-examined performance could significantly lengthen and robustly compare sustained 3D attention.

State-of-the-art thoracic magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) plays a complementary role in the assessment of pulmonary nodules/masses which potentially indicate to cancer. We aimed to evaluate the sensitivity and specificity of MRI in diagnosis of pulmonary nodules/masses.Sixty-eight patients with computed tomography (CT)-detected pulmonary nodules/masses underwent 3T MRI (T1-VIBE, T1-starVIBE, T2-fBLADE turbo spin-echo, and T2-SPACE). The detection rate was calculated for each of the different subgroups of pulmonary nodules according to lung imaging reporting and data system (Lung-RADS). The four MRI sequences were compared in terms of detection rate and image quality-signal to noise ratio (SNR), contrast to noise ratio (CNR) and 5-point scoring scale. Agreement of lesion size measurement between CT and MRI was assessed by intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC). The picture-SNR, lesion-SNR and CNR of each sequence were analyzed by Mann-Whitney U test.In total, 232 pulmonary lesions were detected by CT. The CT showed 86 solid nodules (SNs)6 mm, 15 SNs between 6-8 mm, 35 SNs between 8-15 mm, and 52 SNs between 15-30 mm. The T1-VIBE, T1-starVIBE, T2-fBLADE TSE and T2-SPACE sequences accurately detected 141 SNs (141/188, 75%/83.3%), 150 SNs (150/188, 79.8%/100%), 166 SNs (166/188, 88.3%/66.7%) and 169 SNs (169/188, 89.9%/53.3%), respectively. Four ground glass nodules (GGNs) (4/6) were detected by T2-fBLADE TSE. Twelve part-solid nodules (PSNs) (12/22) were detected by T1-VIBE and 20 PSNs (20/22) by T2-SPACE. A total of 100 lesions (2.2±1.4 cm, 0.8-7.3 cm) were accurately detected and measured by the four MRI sequences with ICC0.96. The picture-SNR, lesion-SNR and CNR by T1-starVIBE were higher than those by T1-VIBE (P0.001). The lesion-SNR and CNR by T2-fBLADE TSE were higher than those by T2-SPACE (P=0.006, 0.038). 86% of images by T1-starVIBE, 92% by T2-fBLADE TSE, 90% by T2-SPACE and 93% by T1-VIBE were scored 3 or more.MRI achieves high sensitivity and specificity for different type of pulmonary nodules detection and is an effective alternative to CT as a diagnostic tool for pulmonary nodules.

Detecting 3D objects in a crowd remains a challenging problem since the cars and pedestrians often gather together and occlude each other in the real world. The Pointpillar is the leader in 3D object detection, its detection process is simple, and the detection speed is fast. Due to the use of maxpooling in the Voxel Feature Encode (VFE) stage to extract global features, the fine-grained features will disappear, resulting in insufficient feature expression ability in the feature pyramid network (FPN) stage, so the object detection of small targets is not accurate enough. This paper proposes to improve the detection effect of networks in complex environments by integrating attention mechanisms and the Pointpillar. In the VFE stage of the model, the mixed-attention module (HA) was added to retain the spatial structure information of the point cloud to the greatest extent from the three perspectives: local space, global space, and points. The Convolutional Block Attention Module (CBAM) was embedded in FPN to mine the deep information of pseudoimages. The experiments based on the KITTI dataset demonstrated our method had better performance than other state-of-the-art single-stage algorithms. Compared with another model, in crowd scenes, the mean average precision (mAP) under the bird’s-eye view (BEV) detection benchmark increased from 59.20% of Pointpillar and 66.19% of TANet to 69.91 of ours, the mAP under the 3D detection benchmark was increased from 62% of TANet to 65.11% of ours, and the detection speed only dropped from 13.1 fps of Pointpillar to 12.8 fps of ours.

When the government decides to use the public-private partnership (PPP) in projects, such as infrastructure construction, selecting a private-sector partner that meets the project's needs is one of the key factors for successful implementation, but this is ignored in existing research. On this basis, this paper proposes a GRA-VIKOR method based on the combined weight of the improved CRITIC-entropy weight method (EWM). The traditional CRITIC method is improved by combining it with EWM. The combined weights are measured, which reduces the limitations of the single weight. Considering the inherent correlation of evaluation indicators, the VIKOR method is combined with the grey relational analysis (GRA), which makes the results of the selection assessment more reasonable. This paper carries out a case study of the first inland navigation PPP project in China. Through preliminary tracking studies, it tests the effectiveness of the proposed method, the superiority of which is demonstrated by comparing the evaluation results with those of the traditional GRA methods, VIKOR, and TOPSIS.

Patients are undergoing surgery to relieve the prominent dorsocervical fat pad because of their esthetic needs.To determine their clinical needs, it is necessary to research the clinic, radiography, and anatomy of dorsocervical fat pad.The occipital fat thickness, dorsal fat thickness, and the length, width, and thickness of the dorsocervical fat were measured through MRI imaging. Body projection position were recorded. The correlation between the body mass index and dorsocervical hump was analyzed. Anatomical and histological studies of cadavers with a dorsocervical hump were performed. The liposuction for dorsocervical fat pad was introduced and patients were followed up.In measurement, the MRI imaging of 109 patients were evaluated. The average length, width, and thickness of the dorsocervical fat pad were 114.47, 89.24, and 23.46 mm, respectively, and it is commonly located from the 3rd cervical vertebra to the 3rd thoracic vertebra. The average dorsocervical ratio was 151%. 43.1% patients had a dorsocervical hump. Based on the protrusion degree, the dorsocervical fat pad was classified into three types. The dorsocervical hump severity had a low correlation with obesity. In anatomy, 4 cadavers were dissected. The histological staining indicated that two layers of fat pad constituted a dorsocervical fat pad. As for treatment, 34 patients underwent liposuction to improve the dorsocervical contour, all of them reported satisfactory outcome.The histological manifestations and morphological measurement of dorsocervical fat pad is researched. Besides, liposuction was applied in 34 patients with dorsocervical hump, and had received satisfied outcome.

Hereditary uterine cancer (UC) is traditionally associated with pathogenic/likely pathogenic germline variants (PGVs) in Lynch syndrome genes or PTEN; however, growing evidence supports a role for other genes that may reveal new clinical management options. In this study we assessed the prevalence and potential clinical impact of PGVs identified in UC patients referred for comprehensive germline genetic testing that combined testing for Lynch syndrome, PTEN, and other cancer predisposition genes.Prevalence of PGVs in patients referred to a single clinical lab for germline genetic testing with an indication of uterine or endometrial cancer were retrospectively assessed and compared by syndrome type, patient age at testing, and self-reported ancestry. Potential clinical actionability of PGVs was based on established guidelines for clinical management, targeted therapies, and clinical trial eligibility.PGVs were detected in 13.6% of the cohort (880/6490). PGVs were most frequently observed in Lynch syndrome genes (60.4%) and PTEN (1.5%), with 38.1% in another cancer predisposition gene (i.e., CHEK2, BRCA1/BRCA2). PGV prevalence was similar for patients50 years and those ≥50 years (15.1% vs 13.2%). Nearly all PGVs (97.2%) were associated with guideline-recommended management, including cascade testing; 60.5% were associated with FDA-approved therapies; and 35.2% were associated with clinical trials.Focusing germline testing on Lynch syndrome genes and PTEN and limiting testing to patients50 years of age at diagnosis may overlook a substantial proportion of UC patients who harbor actionable PGVs. Universal comprehensive genetic testing of UC patients could benefit many patients and at-risk family members.

Optimal plant growth and development rely on morphological and physiological adaptions of the root system to forage heterogeneously distributed nitrogen (N) in soils. Rice grows mainly in the paddy soil where ammonium (NH4+) is present as the major N source. Although root NH4+ foraging behaviors are expected to be agronomically relevant, the underlying mechanism remains largely unknown. Here, we showed that NH4+ supply transiently enhanced the high-affinity NH4+ uptake and stimulated lateral root (LR) branching and elongation. These synergistic physiological and morphological responses were closely related to NH4+-induced expression of NH4+ transporters OsAMT1;1 and OsAMT1;2 in roots. The two independent double mutants (dko) defective in OsAMT1;1 and OsAMT1;2 failed to induce NH4+ uptake and stimulate LR formation, suggesting that OsAMT1s conferred the substrate-dependent root NH4+ foraging. In dko plants, NH4+ was unable to activate the expression of OsPIN2, and the OsPIN2 mutant (lra1) exhibited a strong reduction in NH4+-triggered LR branching, suggesting that the auxin pathway was likely involved in OsAMT1s-dependent LR branching. Importantly, OsAMT1s-dependent root NH4+ foraging behaviors facilitated rice growth and N acquisition under fluctuating NH4+ supply. These results revealed an essential role of OsAMT1s in synergizing root morphological and physiological processes, allowing for efficient root NH4+ foraging to optimize N capture under fluctuating N availabilities.

Perinatal depression (PND) screening recommendations are made by national, state-based and professional organisations; however, there is disagreement regarding screening timing, provider responsible, screening setting, screening tool as well as the follow-up and referral pathways required post-screening. This systematic review aimed to identify, describe and compare PND screening recommendations from member countries of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). Publications were identified through systematically searching PubMed, Google and the Guidelines International Network (GIN). Recommendations regarding PND screening endorsement, timing, frequency, responsible provider, tools/assessments and follow-up and referral were extracted. Twenty-one publications, including guidelines, from five countries were included. Most made recommendations in support of PND screening using the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale. Details differed regarding terminology used, as well as frequency of screening, follow-up mechanisms and referral pathways. A broad range of health providers were considered to be responsible for screening. This is the first review to identify and compare PND screening recommendations from OECD member countries; however, only online publications published in English, from five countries were included. Heterogeneity of publication types and inconsistency in definitions rendered quality assessment inappropriate. While most publications generally endorsed PND screening, there are exceptions and the associated details pertaining to the actual conduct of screening vary between and within countries. Developing clear, standardised recommendations based on current evidence is necessary to ensure clarity amongst healthcare providers and a comprehensive approach for the early detection of PND.

Symptomatic subsequent vertebral compression fracture (VCF; SVCF) is a common complication associated with poor outcomes. Accumulating evidence shows that demographic factors and incidences of symptomatic SVCFs differ during different periods after the primary vertebroplasty (VP).To investigate the incidence and demographic factors of symptomatic SVCFs after the primary VP in different periods using registry data in the Taiwan National Health Insurance Research Database.This retrospective cohort study included 28,343 patients aged ≥ 50 years with painful VCF treated with VP from 2002 to 2016. Symptomatic SVCF was defined as SVCF requiring another VP or re-admission. During the 2-year follow-up, 1955 patients received subsequent VP while 1,407 were readmitted. Cox proportional hazard models were used to compare the risks of subsequent VP or readmission.The cumulative incident rate of subsequent VP and re-hospitalization was 0.87 [95% confidence interval (CI), 0.82 ~ 0.92] and 0.62 (95% CI, 0.58 ~ 0.66) per 100 person-months, respectively, within the first 6 months after the primary VP, and it decreased over time. A multiple Cox regression model showed that age, osteopenia or osteoporosis, Charlson comorbidity index (CCI) were significant independent risk factors of subsequent VP or readmission within the first 6 months.This study demonstrated that the incidence of symptomatic SVCF peaked in the first 6 months after the primary VP. Age, osteoporosis or osteopenia, and CCI were determined to be risk factors in the first 6 months, but only osteoporosis or osteopenia and CCI were risk factors thereafter.

Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have been widely used in cancer treatment; however, some case reports suggested that ICIs treatment might result in ileus. This study aims to comprehensively reveal the relationship between ileus and ICIs treatment in real-world cases from Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS).Reports from January 1, 2011 to December 31, 2020 were extracted from the FAERS. ICIs-related adverse events in patients were defined as related to use of anti-programmed cell death protein 1 antibodies (PD-1, nivolumab and pembrolizumab), anti-programmed cell death-ligand 1 inhibitors (PD-L1, atezolizumab, durvalumab, avelumab, and cemiplimab), and anti-cytotoxic T-lymphocyte-associated protein 4 (CTLA-4, ipilimumab and tremelimumab). ICIs-related ileus cases were identified to characterize their clinical features. Reporting odds ratios (ROR) and information component (IC) were used to assess the relationship between ICIs and ileus.Among the 105 001 cases related to ICIs, 245 were reported with ICI-related ileus. The affected patients were mainly elderly (median age, 64.5 years) and male (58%, n = 143). The median onset for all cases was 36 (range 0-880) days, and no statistical difference was observed between monotherapy and combination therapy (PD-1 or PD-L1 plus CTLA-4) (p = 0.21). Most patients required drug withdrawal treatment (n = 113, 74%) and can achieve a recovered-resolved state (n = 72, 46%). All ICIs were significantly associated with ileus (ROR = 4.27, 95%Cl: 3.75-4.85; IC = 2.04, 95%Cl: 1.79-2.31). Ileus events were most commonly reported in PD-1 treatment (n = 164, ROR = 3.83, 95%Cl: 3.28-4.48; IC = 1.90, 95%Cl: 1.62-2.21).This pharmacovigilance database analysis suggested that ICIs are related to ileus. However, combination therapy may not speed up the onset of ileus.

Proprotein Convertase Subtilisin/Kexin Type 9 (PCSK9) in mammals is a multifunctional protein. In this study, PCSK9 of marine fish Epinephelus coioides was characterized. The full-length cDNA of E. coioides PCSK9 was 2458 bp in length containing 185 bp 5' UTR, 263 bp 3' UTR and 2010 bp open reading frame (ORF) encoding 669 amino acids with the predicted molecular weight of 71 kDa and the theoretical PI of 6.6. Similar to other members of PCSK9 family, E. coioides PCSK9 has three conserved domains: Inhibitor_ I9 super family, Peptidases_ S8_ PCSK9_ Proteinase K_ like, and PCSK9_ C-CRD super family. E. coioides PCSK9 mRNA could be detected in all the tissues examined by real-time quantitative PCR, with the highest expression in the brain, followed by skin, trunk kidney, head kidney, intestine, blood, liver, spleen, gill, muscle and heart. E. coioides PCSK9 was distributed in both the cytoplasm and nucleus. The expression of E. coioides PCSK9 was significantly upregulated during Singapore grouper iridovirus (SGIV) infection. Upregulated PCSK9 could significantly affect the activities of nuclear factor kappaB (NF-κB) promoter, SGIV-induced apoptosis, and the expressions of the key SGIV genes (ICP18, LITAT, MCP, and VP19) and the E. coioides proinflammatory factors (IL-6, IL-1β, IL-8, and TNF-α). The results illustrated that E. coioides PCSK9 might be involved in the pathogen infection by regulating the innate immune response.

Wireless rechargeable sensor networks have been applied to all aspects of the real world today. Though sensors can collect energy from the environment, the energy collection cannot support sensors to work continuously as usual. Energy scheduling problems have to be solved. In this paper, we study the energy allocation problem of a rechargeable sensor network that can monitor multiple random events. It is assumed that each event follows a Poisson process, the energy received by the sensor is random, and each sensor has a chance to be assigned to detect one or more events. In the paper, we also introduce multi-objective nonlinear programming to solve the problems of nonlinearity and energy. Two algorithms are also proposed to obtain the programming’s Pareto optimal solution. At last, we conduct a number of practical simulations to verify our results.

Recently, nanoscale light manipulation using surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) has received considerable research attention. The conventional method of detecting SPPs is through light scattering or using bulky Si or Ge photodetectors. However, these bulky systems limit the application of nanophotonic circuits. In this study, the light-matter interaction between graphene and SPP was investigated. For realizing an improved integration in nanocircuits, single-layer graphene was added to asymmetric SPP nanoantenna arrays for nonscattering detection in the near field. The developed device is capable of detecting the controlled propagation of SPPs with a photoresponsivity of 15 mA/W, which paves the way for the new-generation on-chip optical communication.

High-dielectric constant glasses are prerequisite for developing terahertz (THz) components and systems. Oxyfluorosilicate (OFS) glasses have been developed and their THz properties have been characterized by using THz-time domain spectroscopy (THz-TDS) measurements. High-dielectric constant (8–13) and low loss (6–9/cm) properties in the THz region have been demonstrated and their dielectric properties have been studied using the single oscillator-based model through a comparison with other multi-component silicate oxide glasses. Unified single oscillator model, which can distinguish the electronic and ionic contributions to the dielectric property, has been applied in this analysis. The physical origin of the dielectric constant enhancement and the importance of interplay between the electronic polarizability and ionicity in high-dielectric constant glasses have been revealed. This study has demonstrated the usefulness of THz-TDS technique for characterizing dielectric properties of multi-component glasses in detail.
