This repository contains the input data, output results, and processing code for the manuscript entitled "effectiveness and efficiency of powerline extraction methods for quantifying ecosystem structure from light detection and ranging". The raw point clouds are the Dutch AHN3 data at ten study areas in the Netherlands, and the hand-labeled point clouds are the points manually labeled into six categories: vegetation (1), ground (2), buildings (6), water (9), powerline (14), and others (26) (e.g. bridges, cars). The hand-labeled point clouds are used as ground truth for accuracy assessment. There are 25 LiDAR metrics (GeoTIFF layers at 10 m resolution) calculated based on raw point clouds, ground truth, and three powerline extraction methods (i.e. deep learning, hybrid, and eigenvalue methods). The list of the 25 metrics and their ecological meaning can be found in our previous publications (https://doi.org/10.1016/j.ecoinf.2022.101836, https://doi.org/10.1016/j.dib.2022.108798). For the deep learning method, we provide a Jupyter Notebook for the model training and prediction, also available at GitHub: https://github.com/ShiYifang/Powerline_extraction. We also provide the R code for the implementation of the eigenvalue method using the lidR package (https://github.com/r-lidar/lidR).

It is critical to develop drug carriers for intelligent drug delivery systems. Normally, the drug carriers of the intelligent drug delivery system are stimulus-responsive polymers. However, as drug carriers, the biocompatibility of the materials should be the primary consideration. In this work, two smart drug systems were prepared using natural protein materials (silk and wool) as drug carriers and poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAM) as a functional additive material. (1) Silk fibroin (SF)/wool keratin (WK) composite films: the differences in drug release efficiency of composite films are based on the different crystallinity of composite films. Analysis of the XRD results showed that the content of the β-crystallite structure in different proportions of the composite films changed from 38.3% to 19.5%. The percentage of drugs released of the mixed films with different proportions ranged from 28% to 58% after eight hours of release, showing a gradient release. (2) SF/WK and PNIPAM composite films: the particle size of the PNIPAM microspheres changed with the temperature. The particles’ size of the prepared PNIPAM microspheres was reduced from 700 nm to 300 nm from 25°C to 35°C. After eight hours of release, the composite films with temperature-sensitive microspheres increased the percentage of drug released by up to 20% compared with the composite films without microspheres when the temperature was ranged from 25°C to 37°C. The result of drug release showed the amount of drug released could be changed with temperature stimulation, which could satisfy people’s controllable requirements for the time, location, and dose of drug release.

Background Turner syndrome (TS) is characterized as the complete or partial absence of one X chromosome and is an extremely rare disease affecting approximately 1:2500 live female births. Though the prevalence of osteoporosis among women with TS is estimated to be around 55–64% and they suffer more frequently from fractures than normal, few reports concerning TS patients with osteoporosis are able to be seen due to tiny number of patients. Case presentation Here, we report a rare case of TS with osteoporosis, who has undergone percutaneous vertebroplasty (PVP) seven times because of several vertebral compression fractures (VCFs). G-banded karyotype analysis was performed and the result was 45,X[43]/47,XXX[17], indicating that the patient was a mosaicism of TS karyotype and Trisomy X syndrome karyotype. TS is the underlying cause of low level of estrogen for this patient. The interaction of aging, estrogen deficiency and intestinal dysbacteriosis leads to her severe osteoporosis and multi-segmental VCFs. The aim of this report is to provide recommendations regarding the management of TS patients with osteoporosis by reviewing the clinical presentation of TS, the influence of estrogen deficiency in osteoporosis, etc. Conclusions Early diagnosis and hormone replacement treatment are essential for TS patients to prevent osteoporosis and reduce the risk of fractures. This is a rare case report describing TS patient with severe osteoporosis and VCFs.

In distributed information fusion application, developing an efficient track-to-track association approach becomes crucially important which may significantly benefit the sequent track-to-track fusion procedure. This paper proposes a novel track-to-track association method specialized for distributed multitarget tracking using more than two sensors. In order to mathematically interpret how probable that the two tracks from two different sensors are tracking the same targets, the fuzzy membership of the two tracks are calculated, whose value is between 0 and 1, with bigger values indicating higher probability that the two tracks originate from the same target. Based on the calculated fuzzy membership matrix, the clustering methodology is then utilized to pick out the group of tracks tracking the same target. The simulation results validate the efficiency and superiority over the existing approach.
