Large unit cell copper-chalcogenide based minerals with high crystalline anharmonicity have a potential for thermoelectric applications owing to their inherent poor lattice thermal conductivity. Here, the softening of copper-selenium bonding and hence crystal framework plays an important role in superionic conduction and thermal conductivity. We have studied Cu26Nb2Sn6Se32, Cu26Nb2Sn6Se31.5 and Cu26Nb2Sn6Se30Te2 minerals with a strategically tailored anionic disorders. These compounds have p-type degenerate behavior with carrier concentration ranging between 1020 cm-3 at 300 K, high power factor and low lattice thermal conductivity at 640 K. The existence of two low frequency Raman active optical modes associated with soft Cu and Se atoms, three localized Einstein modes in specific heat, suggest high scattering between acoustic and optical branches with very short phonon lifetime less than 1 ps. The excess vibrational density of states at low energies with compressed and flat optical branches strongly hinders the heat transport in these crystalline mineral. Comparatively, Cu26Nb2Sn6Se30Te2 is a promising thermoelectric material because of high crystalline anharmonicity and softening of Cu-Se framework due to heavier tellurium atom., 20 Pages, 14 figures in main text and supporting information

We report structure, vibrational properties, and weak antilocalization-induced quantum correction to magnetoconductivity in single-crystal Bi2GeTe4. Surface band-structure calculations show a single Dirac cone corresponding to topological surface states in Bi2GeTe4. An estimated phase coherence length, lΦ ~ to 143 nm and prefactor α~-1.54 from Hikami-Larkin-Nagaoka fitting of magnetoconductivity describe the quantum correction to conductivity. An anomalous temperature dependence of A1g Raman modes confirms enhanced electron-phonon interactions. Our results establish that electrons of the topological state can interact with the phonons involving the vibrations of Bi-Te in Bi2GeTe4. Some natural fruits have significant importance in improving health which provides many nutritional supplements essential to maintain proper metabolism with the age. In this study, phytochemical screening of extract (methanolic) of Punica granatum arils, outer and inner peels was confirmed by the respective spot tests. Quantification of phytochemical constituents revealed the plentiful of total phenols in the outer peels in comparison to inner peels and juice whereas total flavonoids and vitamin C are abundant in inner peel and juice, respectively. High-performance liquid chromatography, Gas chromatography along with mass spectrometry and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy analysis revealed the presence of compound 9, 17-octadecadienal, (Z) in the outer/inner peels. A compound N-hexadecanoic acid was also observed in the outer peels. Extracts from every section of the fruits were comprehensively evaluated for their antioxidant activity. Contrary to fruit aril juice, the extracts of outer and inner peels exhibited significant and dose-dependent in vitro antioxidant and radical-scavenging potentials. The supplementation of P. granatum extracts (PGEs) significantly enhanced the lifespan of C. elegans. The protective effect of PGEs was also observed against oxidative stress in C. elegans. Additionally, the involvement of FOXO orthologue DAF-16 dependent longevity was obtained with PGEs (outer peel and inner peel) fed TJ356 worms. Cyanobacteria trap light energy by arrays of pigment molecules termed “phycobilisomes (PBSs)”, organized proximal to "reaction centers" at which chlorophyll perform the energy transduction steps with highest quantum efficiency. PBSs, composed of sequential assembly of various chromophorylated phycobiliproteins (PBPs), as well as nonchromophoric, basic and hydrophobic polypeptides called linkers. Atomic resolution structure of PBP is a heterodimer of two structurally related polypeptides but distinct specialised polypeptides- a and ß, made up of seven alpha-helices each which played a crucial step in evolution of PBPs. PBPs carry out various light dependent responses such as complementary chromatic adaptation. Smart Sort algorithm is a "smart" fusion of heap construction procedures (of Heap sort algorithm) into the conventional "Partition" function (of Quick sort algorithm) resulting in a robust version of Quick sort algorithm. We have also performed empirical analysis of average case behavior of our proposed algorithm along with the necessary theoretical analysis for best and worst cases. Its performance was checked against some standard probability distributions, both uniform and non-uniform, like Binomial, Poisson, Discrete & Continuous Uniform, Exponential, and Standard Normal. The analysis exhibited the desired robustness coupled with excellent performance of our algorithm. Although this paper assumes the static partition ratios, its dynamic version is expected to yield still better results.
