This report gives a summary of the EMOFOR service. It reviews the action plan service implementation and provides mitigation actions. The overall objective of the EMOFOR service is to provide met-ocean information to offshore operators, with a focus on current information for deepwater operators. The service will integrate information from EO data, in situ measurements and model simulations. The EMOFOR service will consist of three service modes, each of which will be activated according to the requirements from the customers: • Hindcast mode (met-ocean statistics from model simulations and observations: in situ and remote sensing); • Monitoring mode (real-time or near real time data from EO and in situ measurements); • Forecasting mode (use of forecasting models). The main characteristics of the service modes are summarised, NERSC Technical Report 247 D.

The EMOFOR services are designed to operate in three different modes and use an integrated system of information from i) satellite remote sensing of the sea surface; ii) in situ measurements of currents as function of time and depth; and iii) 3-D oceanographical fields from ocean models. These are requirements defined by Fugro GEOS and the customers who will use the services. The EMOFOR services can be classified into four levels varying from low-cost services that are highly automated up to higher cost service cost with increasing human support. The four service levels can be described as: 1) Basic – generic EO-data based service.
