New petrographic and microanalytical studies of mineral inclusions in the Purang ophiolitic chromitites (SW Tibet) are used to scrutinize the evolution of the associated Cretaceous sub-oceanic lithospheric mantle section. Silicate inclusions in the chromite grains include composite and single-phase orthopyroxene, clinopyroxene, amphibole, and uvarovite. Most inclusions are sub-rounded or globular, whereas a few inclusions exhibit cubic/octahedral crystal morphologies. The latter are randomly distributed in the large chromite grains, though discrete aggregates are consistently confined to the grain centers. Abundant micrometer-scale, clinopyroxene inclusions are topotaxially aligned along crystallographic planes. Less-abundant sulfide, wüstite, apatite, and uvarovite inclusions are observed in some samples. The trace element geochemistry of the Purang chromitite evoke parental MORB- and boninite-like melts, consistent with the supra-subduction zone setting. The δ26Mg values of the high-Cr and high-Al chromitites range from –0.25 to –0.29‰ and –0.05 to –0.32‰, respectively. The associated harzburgite has nearly overlapping δ26Mg values of –0.13 to –0.37‰, but pyroxenite sills show distinct δ26Mg values (–0.61 to –0.67‰). The variable Mg isotope signatures, combined with abundant exotic, ultrahigh-pressure and super reduced (UHP-SuR) mineral inclusions in the chromite grains, suggest that recycling and recrystallization under different mantle conditions played an important role in the genesis and evolution of these rocks. Furthermore, discrete silicate, sulfide, and metal alloy inclusions in the Purang chromitites are comparable to those reported in other Tethyan ophiolites, and collectively suggest a common geodynamic evolution.

Next-generation sequencing (NGS) has failed to detect mesenchymal epithelial transition factor gene (MET) polysomy in previous studies. We included three non–small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cohorts in this retrospective study to establish new criteria for detecting MET polysomy and to explore the clinical relevance of MET polysomy. Cohort 1 included 53 patients whose tissues were available for both FISH and NGS assays. Paired plasma and tissue samples were obtained from 261 patients with NSCLC as cohort 2. Cohort 3 included 46 patients with metastatic NSCLC, who presented with MET copy-number gain assessed by NGS. ROC analysis demonstrated that a cut-off point of 2.3 copies achieved the maximum Youden index in discriminating polysomy from normal copy number. Compared with the FISH test for MET polysomy, the sensitivity, specificity, and agreement of NGS were 90%, 90%, and 96.2%, respectively. Following optimization using maximum somatic allele frequency, the sensitivity and specificity of NGS for defining polysomy using plasma samples according to different circulating tumor DNA mutation frequencies were 42% and 63%. The concordance rate between tissue and plasma samples for detecting polysomy was 85%. Regarding the response to MET inhibitor, the median progression-free survival (PFS) of the MET amplification group was significantly higher than that of the polysomy group. The median PFS was similar between the polysomy and normal groups. Our results indicated that NGS may serve as an alternative method for detecting MET polysomy in NSCLC tissues. Moreover, patients with MET polysomy may not benefit from MET inhibitors. Significance: In this study, we established a methodology to differentiate polysomy from normal copy numbers and amplification using NGS. Moreover, this study suggests that it is critical to discriminate MET polysomy from amplification, for the former may dilute the clinical benefit of MET inhibitors.

After globalization gradually became a worldwide trend, world trade became more frequent, leading to closer relations among the world actors. However, in the context of the increase in trade volume, many states, especially South American states, suffer from the side-effects of rapidly decreasing natural resources. This paper examines the impact of World Trade, primarily aimed at agricultural industries, on the natural resources of South American states under the Neoliberalism framework by collecting data on agricultural exports and cultivated land and forests in South America in recent years. In recent years, the world's total population has continued to grow at a positive rate, and the trade-off between the resources needed to meet the needs of such a large population and curbing further environmental degradation has become increasingly urgent. This research will help people to understand this issue better. Deforestation creates challenges for Indigenous People in this region, and the increase of arable land area noticeably brings more pesticides to stay competitive within the market. This research found that under the influence of globalization, South American states, as marginal countries, export a large number of commodities of agricultural products and continue to increase their arable land area year by year, and a positive correlation exists between the increase in arable land area and the decreased forest coverage in South America. Thus, this paper suggests that Neoliberalism negatively impacts natural resources in developing states and deserves attention from all actors internationally, and these drawbacks may further create unsustainable outcomes.

Straight-through labyrinth seal is a simple and reliable noncontact seal structure widely used in aeroengines. During the actual operation of aeroengines, the labyrinth seal clearance might experience a nonuniform variation in the flow direction due to asymmetric structure and uneven temperature. In order to characterize the degree of nonuniformity, the nonuniformity coefficient is defined in current paper. The effect of nonuniform causes (rotor deformation or stator deformation), nonuniform type (convergent clearance or divergent clearance), and nonuniformity coefficient (nonuniformity degree) is carefully studied by numerical simulation. Comparative analysis has shown that there is no obvious difference in flow coefficient (less than 0.8% in current studies) between two nonuniform causes. As for nonuniform type, the nonuniformity impact of divergent type on the flow coefficient is more significant than that of convergent type, as a result of stronger axial inertia. Pressure distributions of teeth cavities indicate that the total pressure drop of the divergent type is more obvious than that of the convergent type when the pressure ratio is the same. With the same dimensionless minimum tip clearance, clearance nonuniformity would result in the increase of leakage flow of the straight-through labyrinth, particularly for the condition with small pressure ratio, large circumferential Mach number, and small dimensionless minimum tip clearance. When the nonuniformity coefficient is within the range of -0.1 to 0.1, the variation curves of nonuniformity impact factor versus the nonuniformity coefficient almost coincide (the maximum deviation is no more than 1.2%) under different operation conditions (Reynolds number, pressure ratio, circumferential Mach number, and dimensionless minimum tip clearance). Current work proves it that the effect of seal clearance nonuniformity on the leakage flow requires special attention for the refined design of aeroengines.

Polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) fiber is widely used in the fields of high-temperature filtration, protective clothing, electronics, automobile, and aircrafts sectors relying on its excellent heat and chemical resistance. However, PPS fiber is easily oxidized under high temperature, which vastly restricts its applications. In this study, using the copper nanoparticles loaded halloysite nanotubes (HNTs@Cu) as a nanofiller, we prepared a PPS composite fiber with improved oxidation resistance. The successful loading of copper nanoparticles into HNTs was demonstrated through TEM and elemental analysis. The crystallinity, orientation, thermal and mechanical properties of PPS nanocomposite fibers were investigated via DSC, XRD, WXRD, TGA and mechanical test. While the mechanical performance of the composite fibers was slightly decreased, the thermal stability was improved when comparing to the neat PPS fiber. The composite fiber with 1.0 wt.% loading of HNTs@Cu showed an over 100% retention rate of breaking strength after thermal oxidative aging, suggesting an improvement in oxidation resistance of PPS fiber. This work provides an effective and accessible method for improving the thermal stability and oxidation resistance of PPS fibers, which thereby helps to extend the applications of PPS fibers in high temperature environment.

In this study, we conduct a time series analysis of the US stock market’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Using both US and global daily COVID-19 newly confirmed cases and stock market returns data represented by Nasdaq, S&P 500, and Dow Jones over the period 31 December 2019 to 30 December 2021, we examine a time-series impact of COVID-19 on the US stock market. We employ our input into a vector autoregression model (VAR) and ARMA-GARCH model to characterize the dynamic relationship between both domestic and global COVID-19 infections and the performance of the US stock market. The findings show that COVID-19 has an initial negative shock on the stock market with large volatility clustering within 60 days after the initial pandemic outbreak. After around 200 to 300 days, the number of new COVID-19 cases per day does not have a statistically significant impact on the US stock market.

In order to solve the problem in that the classical forest land expectation value method ignores the actual forest stock volume when assessing the income at the end of the current production cycle in the forest, and fill the research gap in this area, the technical system of the forest land asset evaluation was enriched. The forest land returns were divided into two parts, i.e., the segmented forest land return price from the growth of the actual forest stand to the end of the growth cycle (Bu1), and the segmented forest land return price for an infinite number of growth cycles after the growth of the actual forest stand to the end of the growth cycle (Bu2). Through structure, the forest land gain price expansion model was obtained, and the stand quality including the average diameter at breast height, average height, stock volume, and outturn of stand as dummy variables were used to construct the growth harvest model related to asset evaluation. Taking Cunninghamia lanceolata forest land as an example, the traditional asset evaluation methods were comparatively analyzed. The residual standard deviation (RSD) of the growth model was less than 10%, the total relative error (TRE) and mean system error (MSE) were within ±10%, the mean prediction errors (MPE) were less than 5%, and the mean percentage standard errors (MPSE) were less than 10%, respectively. Combining the forest land net present value expansion model with the traditional evaluation method, the evaluation value of the forest land assets was subsequently calculated, and accordingly, the forest land asset evaluation prime stand factors were predicated. It was found that the valuation results of the forest land net present value expansion model were consistent with the actual situation. The forest land net present value expansion model can therefore be used for asset evaluation of tree forest land (including natural uneven-aged forest land), bamboo forest land, shrub forest land, and economic forest land, and provide new technical support for forest land asset evaluation.

From a system perspective, the entropy generation of an aeroengine is directly related to the thermal efficiency when the Brayton cycle pressure ratio and maximum temperature remain constant. The lower the entropy generation of the engine is, the higher the thermal efficiency. However, the secondary air system of the engine generates a large quantity of entropy compared to the components of the main flow channel, because the irreversible losses of the internal flow and heat exchange between the air system components generate considerable entropy within the system. In this study, the theoretical method is used to build entropy generation model for different characteristics of air system components during the aerothermal process. In this basis, an integrated model of the whole engine is introduced to identify the key components for entropy generation in the system environment. The results show that the labyrinth at outlet of unloading cavity is recognized as the one that generates the most entropy in the entire aeroengine system, and the total entropy generation of the system is highly related to this component. Besides, in the system environment, entropy generation is the sum of the local entropy generated by the components and the total entropy generated by mixing of airflows in each component. High local entropy generated by components does not necessarily result in a high system entropy production, and vice versa. Therefore, when the minimum system entropy generation is the design goal, the most critical operations for entropy generation should be identified according to the corresponding sensitivity and parameter variation range, and the design should be improved accordingly.

Manual inspection is still widely used for defect detection in optical isolator factories. The manual method is not only inefficient, but also low reliability, and easy to be disturbed by visual fatigue. This paper proposes an automatic defect detection algorithm for optical isolators, which is an extension to a previous conference paper, with more algorithms and detailed description of the detection algorithm added. In the focusing part of the algorithm, an improved Laplace operator which increases the attention of oblique gradient is adopted. In the detection part of the algorithm, the image-enhancement based on adaptive threshold, the line and ring detection based on Hough transform, and process the detection results by clustering method are used. Experiments show that the scheme proposed in this paper can inspect a series of defects on the crystal area of the optical isolator in real time, the manpower demand can be reduced to less than 10 % and the detection accuracy is 93 %.

To effectively restrain the lateral vibration caused by the guide rail excitation and improve the ride comfort of the car system, a state-weighted linear quadratic regulator (LQR) control strategy is proposed. Firstly, based on the active control model of the 4-DOF car system with actuators distributed diagonally along the center of the car frame, an LQR controller for lateral vibration of high-speed elevator car systems is designed. Furthermore, in view of the tedious and time-consuming of the empirical method to choose state-weighted matrix Q, stepping quantum genetic algorithm (SQGA) is proposed to improve the performance of the controller. Finally, the time-frequency characteristic curves of the lateral vibration acceleration and the vibration displacement of the car system are compared and analyzed by MATLAB to verify the effectiveness of the proposed controller.

Summary Myelofibrosis (MF) is a BCR-ABL1–negative myeloproliferative neoplasm (MPN) characterized by anemia, extramedullary hematopoiesis, bone marrow fibrosis, splenomegaly, constitutional symptoms and acute myeloid leukemia (AML) progression. Currently, allogeneic haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (AHSCT) therapy is the only curative option for MF patients. However, AHSCT is strictly limited due to the high rates of morbidity and mortality. Janus kinase 2 (JAK2) inhibitor Ruxolitinib is the first-line treatment for intermediate-II or high-risk MF patients with splenomegaly and constitutional symptoms, but most MF patients develop resistance or intolerance to Ruxolitinib. Therefore, MF treatment is a challenge for the medical community. This review summarizes three investigated directions for MF therapy: monotherapies of JAK inhibitors, monotherapies of non-JAK targeted agents, combination therapies of Ruxolitinib and other agents. We emphasize combination of Ruxolitinib and other agents is a promising strategy.

Due to the high density at mantle depths, subducted oceanic crust rarely exhumes to the surface of Earth, making it challenging to determine the evolution and dynamic behavior of oceanic crust. The Sumdo eclogite-bearing metamorphic belt, located between the north and south Lhasa terranes in Tibet, is a natural laboratory for studying the metamorphic evolution of oceanic eclogites. We combined phase equilibrium modeling with detailed petrological investigations for the newly discovered Xilang eclogite from this belt and obtained near-peak metamorphic conditions of 539 °C at 1.84 GPa and a steep exhumation P–T path. These values are much lower than published for the other areas of this belt. Quartz inclusions sealed in garnet from high-pressure rocks are known to preserve residual pressures during exhumation, which can be used to reexamine the peak metamorphic conditions of eclogites in the Sumdo metamorphic belt. We analyzed quartz from three different areas in the belt, including Xilang, Jilang, and Xindaduo, with laser Raman micro spectroscopy. Xilang eclogite preserved the highest residual pressure of 0.53 ± 0.07 GPa in the quartz stability field. A systematic comparison of the residual pressures of different eclogites revealed that not only the peak metamorphic conditions but also the exhumation rate of the host rocks controlled the residual pressure. Hence, the Xilang eclogite may record lower peak P–T conditions, because it exhumed differently than the eclogites from the other areas in the Sumdo metamorphic belt. Combined with numerical modeling, the residual pressures obtained by Raman spectroscopy may be a new way to compare the metamorphic conditions of eclogites and to obtain geochronological information in addition to isotopic investigations.

The corrosion behavior of alumina-forming austenitic (AFA) stainless steels with different Nb additions in a supercritical carbon dioxide environment at 500 °C, 600 °C, and 20 MPa was investigated. The steels with low Nb content were found to have a novel structure with a double oxide as an outer Cr2O3 oxide film and an inner Al2O3 oxide layer with discontinuous Fe-rich spinels on the outer surface and a transition layer consisting of Cr spinels and γ’-Ni3Al phases randomly distributed under the oxide layer. Oxidation resistance was improved by accelerating diffusion through refined grain boundaries after the addition of 0.6 wt.% Nb. However, the corrosion resistance decreased significantly at higher Nb content due to the formation of continuous thick outer Fe-rich nodules on the surface and an internal oxide zone, and Fe2(Mo, Nb) laves phases were also detected, which prevented the outward diffusion of Al ions and promoted the formation of cracks within the oxide layer, resulting in unfavorable effects on oxidation. After exposure at 500 °C, fewer spinels and thinner oxide scales were found. The specific mechanism was discussed.

Purpose This study aims to investigate the clinical and molecular differences between diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) patients with MYD88L265P and MYD88other. Methods DLBCL patients with MYD88 variations were collected from the Cancer Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences & Peking Union Medical College (CHCAMS), and Suzhou Municipal Hospital from February 6th, 2007 to May 20th, 2022. Clinicopathological parameters and treatment outcomes between MYD88L265P and MYD88other were investigated. Results A total of 132 patients with MYD88 variations from a cohort of 475 DLBCL patients were included, among which, 78 were MYD88L265P, while 54 were MYD88other. MYD88L265P was more common in non-GCB subtype than MYD88other (83% vs. 60%, P = 0.004). Besides, MYD88L265P was significantly related to higher proportion of testicle/ central nervous system involvement (31% vs. 6%, P P P = 0.018), compared with MYD88other. Compared with MYD88L265P, MYD88other were more likely to have higher percentage of advanced stage (60% vs. 42%, P = 0.044), extranodal site ≥ 2 (45% vs. 28%, P = 0.044), elevated LDH (55% vs. 35%, P = 0.033), positive CD10 expression (36% vs. 16%, P = 0.009), BCL-6 translocation (20% vs. 8%, P = 0.033), and NOTCH pathway gene alteration (24% vs. 13%, P = 0.040). In non-GCB DLBCL subtype, patients with MYD88other were significantly associated with worse progression free survival (PFS) than those with MYD88L265P when treated initially with R-CHOP/R-CHOP-like regimen (P = 0.010). Conclusion The findings of this study indicate that DLBCL patients with MYD88L265P and MYD88other are likely to be two subgroups with different clinical and molecular characteristics. The survival of patients with MYD88other is not superior than those with MYD88L265P, even poorer when focusing on the non-GCB subtype.
