En 2016 y 2017 se han realizado las primeras Encuestas Nacionales sobre Tendencias en Fitness en España, reproduciendo la metodología de las encuestas internacionales sobre tendencias globales de fitness promovidas por el Colegio Americano de Medicina del Deporte (ACSM) desde 2006. Este estudio presenta los resultados de la tercera Encuesta Nacional sobre Tendencias en Fitness para el año 2019. Su objetivo ha sido identificar las principales tendencias y su relevancia en el sector del fitness español para ese año. Se recogió la opinión de 600 profesionales del sector del fitness sobre 46 potenciales tendencias mediante un cuestionario online. Las tendencias más relevantes para 2019 en el contexto español son «personal formado, cualificado y experimentado», «entrenamiento funcional», «ejercicio y pérdida de peso», «entrenamiento personal», «entrenamiento interválico de alta intensidad», y «entrenamiento con el peso corporal». Las tendencias en el sector del fitness en España para 2019 han resultado ser muy estables con respecto a las tendencias que emergieron en el top 20 en la encuesta de 2018, con solo 2 tendencias nuevas y apenas cambios en sus posiciones en ranking. Sin embargo, las diferencias son mucho mayores cuando se comparan con el top 20 de la encuesta internacional de 2018, con 8 tendencias diferentes (un 40%). Esto indica cierta divergencia de las tendencias de fitness en nuestro país y las tendencias globales del sector, mostrando una dinámica propia en el sector español, In 2016 and 2017 the first National Surveys on Fitness Trends was carried out in Spain reproducing the methodology of the worldwide surveys about global fitness trends endorsed by the American College of Sport Medicine (ACSM) since 2006. This study shows the findings of the third National Survey of Fitness Trends aimed at identifying the main trends in the Spanish fitness sector and their relevance in 2019. The opinion of 600 professionals in the fitness sector about 46 potential trends were gathered via an online questionnaire. The more relevant trends in the Spanish context for 2019 were «educated, certified and experienced fitness professionals», «functional training», «exercise and weight loss», «personal training», «high intensity interval training» and «body weight training». Trends in the Spanish fitness sector have been very stable in 2019 compared to those emerged in the top 20 in the 2018 survey, with only 2 new trends whereas the others remained almost unchanged in their ranking positions. However, differences were much greater when compared with the top 20 of the global survey of 2018, with 8 different trends (40%). This points to some divergences of fitness trend in our country and the global trends of the sector, showing a dynamic of its own in the Spanish sector

El objetivo de esta investigación fue analizar la relación entre disfrute con la actividad física, autoeficacia motriz, nivel de actividad física realizada y rendimiento académico en Educación Física (EF). El estudio se llevó a cabo en 17 centros escolares de la Comunidad de Madrid (España) y siguió un diseño ex post facto en el que participaron 1.452 estudiantes (49,6% varones) con edades comprendidas entre 10 y 18 años. Se utilizaron las siguientes escalas: PACES (Physical Activity Enjoyment Scale), E-AEM (Escala de Autoeficacia Motriz) y PAQ-A (Physical Activity Questionnaire for Adolescents). Los instrumentos mostraron alta consistencia interna con coeficientes de fiabilidad alfa entre ,85 y ,89. Procediendo con correlación parcial y controlando los posibles efectos de interacción de las variables sexo y edad, el rendimiento académico en EF se relacionó significativamente con disfrute con la actividad física (r = ,28), autoeficacia motriz (r = ,27) y nivel de actividad física realizada (r = ,21). Mediante regresión logística se observó que tienen mayor posibilidad de suspender la materia de EF los estudiantes con bajos niveles de disfrute con la actividad física (OR = 2,72), baja autoeficacia motriz (OR = 2,39) y baja práctica de actividad física (OR = 2,19), The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between physical activity enjoyment, motor self-efficacy, physical activity and level academic performance in Physical Education (PE). The study was conducted in 17 schools of Madrid (Spain) and it followed an ex post facto design. A total of 1,452 students participated in the study (49.6% male), aged between 10 and 18 years. The following measuring scales were used: PACES (Physical Activity Enjoyment Scale), E-AEM (Self-Efficacy Motor Scale) and PAQ-A (Physical Activity Questionnaire for Adolescents). These instruments showed high internal consistency with Alpha coefficients of reliability between .85 and .89. Proceeding with partial correlation and controlling for sex and age, academic performance in PE was significantly related with enjoyment during physical activity (r = .28), motor selfefficacy (r = .27) and level of physical activity (r = .21). Using logistic regression was observed that is more likely to fail physical education the students with low levels of enjoyment (OR = 2.72), low motor self-efficacy (OR = 2.39) and low practice of physical activity (OR = 2.19)

Methods: participants included 4 226 adolescents from the AVENA, AFINOS and UP & DOWN studies. Physical education enjoyment was assessed with a 7-point Likert scale. Cognitive performance in the AVENA study was assessed using the Spanish version of the SRA Test of Educational Ability. Academic performance in the AFINOS and UP & DOWN studies was assessed through Mathematics and Language grades and the average of both subjects. Results: in the AVENA study we found differences in verbal ability among girls who dislike physical education and their peers (P = 0.033). In the AFINOS study, boys who dislike physical education had higher scores in Language than their peers (P = 0.024). In the UP & DOWN study girls who disliked physical education had higher scores in Language and in the average of Language and Mathematics than their peers (P < 0.001). Conclusion: in the AVENA and AFINOS studies adolescents who disliked physical education had similar results in cognitive and academic performance than their peers, but in the UP & DOWN study girls who disliked physical education showed higher results in academic performance than their peers Objetivo: conocer si a aquellos adolescentes que no les gusta la educación física obtienen mejores resultados en rendimiento académico y cognitivo que sus compañeros. Métodos: los participantes incluyen 4.226 adolescentes de los estudios AVENA, AFINOS y UP & DOWN. El gusto por la educación física se valoró con una escala Likert de 7 puntos. El rendimiento cognitivo se valoró en el estudio AVENA usando la versión española del SRA Test of Educational Ability. El rendimiento académico se valoró en los estudios AFINOS y UP & DOWN con las notas de Matemáticas, Lengua y la media de Lengua y Matemáticas. Resultados: en el estudio AVENA encontramos diferencias en la habilidad verbal entre las chicas a las que no les gustaba la educación física y sus compañeros (P = 0,033). Introduction: correlates of physical activity (PA) have not been explored in adolescents with Down syndrome (DS). Understanding correlates of PA could provide information to develop strategies to increase levels of PA in this target population. Objective: the aim of this study was to identify potential correlates of PA in adolescents with DS. Method: information about levels of PA and their potential correlates was collected in 98 adolescents with DS (63 males, aged 11-20 years) using accelerometers and proxy-reported questionnaires. Analysis of covariance and multiple linear regression analyses were conducted to examine correlates of PA. Result: our findings showed that participant's age and socioeconomic status were associated with levels of PA as non-modifiable correlates. Also, parental support, father PA, television-viewing time with siblings and with friends were associated with levels of PA as modifiable correlates. Discussion and conclusion: both modifiable and non-modifiable factors are associated with levels of PA in adolescents with DS. Therefore, a better understanding of correlates of PA could contribute to develop strategies on PA promotion in adolescents with DS. Introducción: los correlatos de actividad física (AF) no han sido estudiados en adolescentes con síndrome de Down (SD). Entendiendo los correlatos de AF se podría aportar información para desarrollar estrategias para incrementar los niveles de AF en esta población diana. Objetivo: el objetivo de este estudio fue identificar correlatos de AF en adolescentes con SD. Métodos: la información de los niveles de AF y sus potenciales correlatos fue recogida en 98 adolescentes con SD (63 hombres, con edades comprendidas entre 11-20 años), usando acelerómetros y cuestionarios proxy-reportados. Se utilizó análisis de covarianza y análisis de regresión lineal múltiple para examinar los correlatos de AF. Resultados: nuestros resultados muestran que la edad y el estatus socioeconómico de los participantes fue asociado con niveles de AF como correlatos no modificables. Además, el apoyo de los padres, la AF del padre y el tiempo dedicado a ver la televisión con hermanos y amigos fueron asociados con niveles de AF como correlatos modificables. Discusión y conclusión: ambos factores modificables y no modificables se asocian con niveles de AF en adolescentes con SD. Por lo tanto, una mejor comprensión de los correlatos de AF podría contribuir a desarrollar estrategias de promoción de la AF en adolescentes con SD.

Introduction: Previous studies suggest that the physical environment is associated with youth physical activity levels. Objective: The present study aimed at assessing the reliability and validity of an adapted version of the ALPHA environmental questionnaire (short version) to adults for application with Spanish youth. Methods: The reliability was evaluated in a sample (n = 190, 80 girls, 14.08 ± 1.38 years) using the Intraclass Correlation Coefficient (ICC) and Weighted kappa. In other sample (n = 140, 61 girls, 13.03 ± 1.40 years) the validity was assessed using the Spearman correlation (rho) for its association with self-reported and objective (accelerometers) physical activity (PA). Results: The test-retest reliability showed ICC = 0.69 for the total questionnaire score, ranging from κ = 0.42 to 0.77 for individual items. The total score showed significant correlations with PA reported by PACE questionnaire (rho = 0.18, p = 0.040), the Finnish Physical Activity Index (rho = 0.26, p = 0.002) and active commuting for girls (rho = 0.34, p = 0.010), as well as vigorous PA measured by accelerometry (rho = 0.18, p = 0.038). Discussion: The adapted version of the ALPHA environmental questionnaire has moderate to good reliability and acceptable validity to assess environmental factors that may influence PA in youth. Introducción: Estudios anteriores sugieren que el entorno físico está asociado con los niveles de actividad física de la juventud. Objetivo: El objetivo de este estudio fue valorar la fiabilidad y validez de una versión adaptada del cuestionario ambiental ALPHA de adultos (versión corta) para su aplicación en población juvenil española. Métodos: La fiabilidad del cuestionario se evaluó en una muestra (n=190; 80 chicas; 14.08±1.38 años) mediante el Coeficiente de Correlación Intraclase (CCI) y el índice Kappa ponderado. En otra muestra (n=140; 61 chicas; 13.03±1.40 años), se evaluó la validez del cuestionario mediante la asociación con la actividad física (AF), tanto autoreportada como medida con acelerometría, a través de la correlación de Spearman (rho). Resultados: La fiabilidad test-retest mostró un CCI = 0.69 para la puntuación total del cuestionario, y un coeficiente Kappa de κ = 0.42 a 0.77 en los ítems individuales. La puntuación total mostró correlaciones significativas con la AF autoreportada mediante el cuestionario PACE (rho = 0.18; p = 0.040), el Índice Finlandés de Actividad Física (IFAF) (rho = 0.26, p = 0.002) y el transporte activo (rho = 0.34, p = 0.010 en chicas), así como con la AF vigorosa medida con acelerometría (rho = 0.18; p = 0.038). Discusión: La versión adaptada del cuestionario ambiental ALPHA, presenta una fiabilidad de moderada a buena y una aceptable validez para evaluar los factores ambientales que pueden influir en la práctica de AF de los jóvenes.

Introduction: "Obesity" is considered a feature of youth with DS but whether "low physical fitness" is also a feature is unknown. Objective: The aim of this case-control study was to compare the levels of fatness and fitness in adolescents with and without DS. Methods: Participants included 17 (5 girls) adolescents with DS aged 12-18 years and a control group of 94 (45 girls) adolescents without DS aged 12-16 years. The ALPHA health-related fitness test battery for children and adolescents was selected to assess fatness and fitness in both groups. Results: There were no differences in levels of fatness between groups (all P > 0.27). Adolescents with DS had lower levels of fitness in all the tests than adolescents without DS (all P < 0.001). Conclusion: Adolescents with DS have similar levels of fatness and lower levels of fitness than their peers without DS. Introducción: La obesidad es considerada una característica de los jóvenes con SD, sin embargo se desconoce si la "baja condición física" también lo es. Objetivo: Comparar los niveles de obesidad y condición física en adolescentes con y sin SD. Métodos: Participaron 17 adolescentes (5 niñas) con SD de 12 a 18 años y un grupo control de 94 (45 niñas) adolescentes sin SD de 12-16 años de edad. La batería de condición física ALPHA relacionada con la salud para niños y adolescentes fue seleccionada para evaluar la obesidad y la condición física en ambos grupos. Resultados: No se encontraron diferencias en los niveles de obesidad entre grupos (P > 0,27). Los adolescentes con SD tuvieron niveles más bajos de condición física en todos los test en comparación con los adolescentes sin SD (P < 0,001). Conclusión: Los adolescentes con SD tienen niveles similares de obesidad y menores de condición física que sus compañeros sin SD.

Objetivos: Es necesario conocer la actividad física que realizan los adolescentes españoles para valorar cómo la falta de este hábito afecta al incremento de la prevalencia de la obesidad. Por ello, para medir la actividad física en estas edades es imprescindible tener instrumentos de medición válidos. El objetivo de este estudio fue evaluar la validez de cuatro cuestionarios de fácil aplicabilidad (las preguntas enKid y FITNESSGRAM, el cuestionario PACE y una escala comparativa) para medir la actividad física en adolescentes españoles, utilizando como criterio un acelerómetro. Métodos: 232 adolescentes rellenaron los cuestionarios y usaron durante siete días el acelerómetro ActiGraph. Se utilizó la correlación de Spearman (rho) para comparar los resultados de los cuestionarios y la actividad física total, moderada, vigorosa y moderada a vigorosa obtenida por el acelerómetro. Resultados: Todos los cuestionarios obtuvieron correlaciones moderadas en comparación con la actividad física total (rho=0,36-0,43) y moderada a vigorosa obtenidas por el acelerómetro (rho=0,34-0,46) en el total de la muestra. Se encontraron correlaciones más altas al comparar los cuestionarios con la actividad física vigorosa (rho=0,42-0,51) que con la moderada (rho=0,15-0,17). La pregunta FITNESSGRAM y el cuestionario PACE obtuvieron débiles correlaciones en las chicas, mientras que la pregunta enKid y la escala comparativa obtuvieron correlaciones moderadas para chicos y chicas. Conclusiones: Los cuatro cuestionarios presentan una aceptable validez para valorar la actividad física de la población adolescente española. Objectives: The physical activity (PA) levels of Spanish adolescents must be determined to assess how the lack of PA may affect the increasing prevalence of obesity. Thus, to assess PA in this age range valid measurement instruments are essential. The aim of this study was to evaluate the validity of four easily applied questionnaires (the enKid and FITNESSGRAM questions, the Patient-Centered Assessment and Counselling [PACE] questionnaire, and an activity rating) to assess PA in Spanish adolescents by using an accelerometer as the criterion instrument. Methods: A total of 232 adolescents (113 girls) completed the questionnaires and wore an ActiGraph accelerometer for 7 consecutive days. Spearman's correlation coefficient (rho) was used to compare the questionnaires and total PA, moderate PA, vigorous PA and moderate-to-vigorous PA (MVPA) assessed by the accelerometer. Results: All the questionnaires showed moderate correlations when compared against total PA (rho=0.36-0.43) and MVPA (rho=0.34-0.46) obtained by the accelerometer in the total sample. Higher correlations were found when comparing the questionnaires against vigorous PA (rho=0.42-0.51) than against moderate PA (rho=0.15-0.17). The FITNESSGRAM question and the PACE questionnaire obtained weak correlations in girls and the enKid question and activity rating were moderately correlated for boys and girls. Conclusions: The four questionnaires evaluated showed acceptable validity in the assessment of PA in the Spanish adolescent population.
