Here, we report a phylogenetic group of S. sonnei with extensive drug resistance, including a combination of multidrug resistance, coresistance to ceftriaxone and azithromycin (cefRaziR), reduced susceptibility to fluoroquinolones, and even colistin resistance (colR). This distinct clone caused six waterborne shigellosis outbreaks in China from 2015 to 2020. We collect 155 outbreak isolates and 152 sporadic isolates. The cefRaziR isolates, including outbreak strains, are mainly distributed in a distinct clade located in global Lineage III. The outbreak strains form a recently derived monophyletic group that may have emerged circa 2010. The cefRaziR and colR phenotypes are attributed to the acquisition of different plasmids, particularly the IncB/O/K/Z plasmid coharboring the blaCTX-M-14, mphA, aac(3)-IId, dfrA17, aadA5, and sul1 genes and the IncI2 plasmid with an mcr-1 gene. Genetic analyses identify 92 accessory genes and 60 single-nucleotide polymorphisms associated with the cefRaziR phenotype. Surveillance of this clone is required to determine its dissemination and threat to global public health.

This paper proposes an improved selective kernel network-temporal convolutional (SKResNet-TCN) network-based video recognition model for isolated word sign language with too large parameters, large computation, and difficult to extract effective features. SKResNet uses grouped convolution to save computational cost while dynamically selecting feature information of different perceptual fields to improve the feature extraction ability of the model for video frame images, and TCN introduces causal and inflation convolution to take full advantage of computer parallel computing and reduce memory overhead during computation. The introduction of causal convolution and dilation convolution allows the network to take full advantage of computer parallel computing and reduce memory overhead during computation, and it can capture the feature information between consecutive frames. In this paper, we design a hybrid SKResNet-TCN network model based on these two networks, and propose a solution of hybrid inflated convolution for the problem of losing information between data features in inflated convolution, using adaptive maximum pooling to preserve significant features of sign language instead of adaptive average pooling, and using Mish activation function to improve the generalization ability and accuracy of the model. The accuracy is 100% on the Argentine LSA64 dataset, and the experimental results show that the model in this paper has the advantages of fewer model parameters, smaller operations, and higher accuracy in sign language recognition compared with traditional 3D convolutional networks and long–short term memory, which effectively saves computational cost and time cost.

Background: The typical imaging finding of MM is bone destruction in the form of diffuse patchy osteolytic lesions or punctate destruction. However, it is difficult to accurately determine the fine structure of bone affected by MM with these techniques due to low specificity and sensitivity. Introduction: This study aimed to investigate the microscopic anatomical morphology and analyze the microstructure changes of trabeculae affected by multiple myeloma (MM) based on micro-CT. Methods: MM-affected and normal trabecular bone samples were imaged by micro-CT to obtain bone structure parameters to assess statistical differences between them and evaluate the degree of microstructural damage of MMaffected trabeculae. Results: Micro CT images clearly showed the microstructure of MM-affected trabeculae. The degree of trabecular osteoporosis varied with the severity of MM. There were significant differences in the structural parameters between MM-affected and normal trabeculae (P < 0.05). Conclusions: Micro-CT clearly reveals the microstructure of MM-affected trabeculae. The obtained bone structure data will help to determine the degree of bone damage caused by MM and assess the efficacy.

Salmonella enterica resistant to colistin, third-generation cephalosporins (3GCs), and fluoroquinolones (FQs) has been deemed a high-priority pathogen by the World Health Organization (WHO). The objective of this study was to characterize 11 mcr-1-harboring Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium isolates from raw pork and ready-to-eat (RTE) pork products in Guangzhou, China. All isolates were multi-drug resistant and contained 6–24 antibiotic-resistant genes. The mcr-1 gene was localized in the most conserved structure (mcr-1-orf ) in eight isolates and in mobile structure (ISApl1-mcr-1-orf ) in three isolates. One raw pork isolate SH16SF0850, co-harbored mcr-1, blaCTX−M−14, and oqxAB genes. One isolate 17Sal008 carried mcr-1, blaCTX−M−14, qnrS2, and oqxAB genes located on a 298,622 bp IncHI2 plasmid pSal008, which was obtained from an RTE pork product for the first time. The pSal008 was closely related to a plasmid in an S. typhimurium isolate from a 1-year-old diarrheal outpatient in China and was found to be transferable to Escherichia coli J53 by conjugation. Genome sequence comparisons by core-genome Multi Locus Sequence Typing (cgMLST) based on all S. typhimurium isolates from China inferred highly probably epidemiological links between selected pork isolates and no possible epidemiologically links between RTE pork isolate 17Sal008 and other isolates. Our findings indicate that raw pork and pork products are potential reservoirs of mcr-1-harboring S. typhimurium and highlight the necessity for continuous monitoring of colistin, 3GCs, and FQs resistant S. typhimurium from different origins.

Purpose Human infections caused by invasive non-typhoidal Salmonella (iNTS) are highly prevalent worldwide. However, data for such infections in China are scarce. This study reports the epidemiology of iNTS in China. Methods INTS isolates were recovered from blood and other clinical specimens collected during 2007–2016 across five provinces (Shanghai, Xinjiang, Fujian, Guangxi, and Chongqing) in China. Antimicrobial susceptibility was performed using the agar dilution method and molecular epidemiology was performed using standard microbiological techniques. Results A total of 178 iNTS isolates were recovered from approximately 9700 patient specimens during 2007–2016. The predominant serovars were Salmonella Enteritidis (57/178, 32%), Salmonella Choleraesuis (47/178, 26.4%), and Salmonella Typhimurium (24/178, 13.5%). Up to 50 isolates (28.1%) were from patients who were ≤1 year of age, while 28 (15.7%) were from patients who were ≥60 years. Among these isolates, high rates of resistance to nalidixic acid (114/178, 64%), sulfisoxazole (59%), ciprofloxacin (15.2%), and cefotaxime (8.4%) were found. Moreover, 53.4% (95/178) exhibited multidrug resistance, and 3.9% (7/178) showed co-resistance to third-generation cephalosporins and ciprofloxacin. Steadily increasing numbers of nalidixic acid, cefotaxime, and ciprofloxacin-resistant isolates, but decreasing numbers of multidrug resistance isolates were detected during the study period. Detection of quinolone genes in 114 nalidixic acid-resistant isolates showed that 58.3% (67/114) harbored plasmid-mediated quinolone resistance (PMQR) genes [aac(6´)-Ib-cr, qnrA, qnrB, oqxAB, qepA, qnrS, and qnrD] and 98.2% (112/114) exhibited mutations in quinolone resistance determining regions [gyrA, parC, and parE]. Furthermore, we detected beta-lactamases genes in the ceftriaxone-resistant isolates. The most common were blaTEM-1 (93.3%), followed by blaCTX-M-55 (40%), blaCMY-2 (33.3%), and blaOXA-1 (33.3%). Finally, a range of pulsed-field gel electrophoresis patterns were detected among the Salmonella Enteritidis and Salmonella Typhimurium isolates. Conclusion High rates of multidrug resistance and steadily increasing cefotaxime and ciprofloxacin-resistant iNTS could pose a significant challenge for the effective treatment of salmonellosis in China.

Here, we report a plasmid-mediated mobile carbapenem-resistant blaNDM-5 gene in Salmonella Typhimurium isolated from pork in Shanghai, China in 2016.Patients and Methods: In July 2016, the S. Typhimurium SH160 strain was recovered from minced pork meat purchased from a supermarket in Yangpu District, Shanghai, China. Antimicrobial susceptibility testing, multi-locus sequence typing, conjugation, S1-PFGE, southern hybridization, whole-genome sequencing and data analysis were performed.Results: This isolate was found to be a ST34 strain and resistant to carbapenems, cephalosporins, and most other commonly used antibiotics. The blaNDM-5 gene was harbored by a 46161-bp IncX3 plasmid which was found to be transferable. The IncX3 plasmid contains a composite cassette, consisting of ISSwil-IS3000-ΔISAba125-IS5-blaNDM-5-bleMBL-trpF-dsbC-IS26-ctuA1-ΔumuD. In addition, this strain was found to harbor an additional 161706-bp IncHI2 plasmid which carries nine resistant genes, such as aadA1, aadA3, aph(3ʹ)-la, sul1, sul2, sul3, floR, cmlA and dfrA12.Conclusion: We reported the S. Typhimurium with transferable IncX3 plasmid harboring blaNDM-5 gene from minced pork. We characterized the complete genetic features of the plasmid, which demonstrated the potential for spreading in different bacterial pathogens. Therefore, extensive surveillance and monitoring for carbapenem-resistant bacterium in the food chain and public health are urgently required.Keywords: S. Typhimurium, pork, blaNDM-5, public health

Iterative methods are typically utilized for blind image restoration (BIR); however, they are relatively slow, uncertain, and occasionally ill-behaved. This study presents a non-iterative algorithm to estimate the parameters of point spread functions (PSFs), particularly, Class G. We propose a curve model to approximate the normalized spectrum amplitude of the original image in accordance with the decay law of the natural image spectrum. The blur PSF is estimated by comparing the original image spectrum with the degraded one. Then, the image is restored by applying the estimated PSF and the Wiener filter. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm can obtain a more accurate PSF and reduce ringing artifacts compared with the existing algorithms. The quality of the restored images is enhanced significantly.

Since its initial discovery in an isolate from China, has also been detected in and , and is rarely reported in other Enterobacteriaceae. Here, we report the isolation and identification of a strain harboring from stool samples in a pig farm in China from 2009. Motivated by the security problems caused by the shortage of reinforcement quantity and the sparse distribution of steel bars, this paper proposes a novel steel bars counting method based on machine vision which focus on processing videos and images to obtain the quantity of steel bars. Firstly, we use image capture technology to convert the video into an image. Then preprocessing and edge detection of the above images are used to set up the region of interest through template matching. Finally, we use the Hough transform line detection technique to extract the lines and get the number of bars in the calibration area or in the entire video. Experiments show that the accuracy ratio of steel bars counting is up to 100%, and at the same time this method can detect a many steel bars in the video rapidly, reducing the workload of people.

Biometric recognition is emerging as a powerful means for automatically recognizing a person's identity with a higher reliability. Especially, multimodal biometric fusion techniques have received a lot of attention and interest in recent years. To improve the recognition rate of the singlemodal biometric system and to solve the small samples recognition problem, a multimodal biometric recognition approach based on pixel level fusion is originally proposed in this paper. We use two kinds of biometric techniques: palmprint recognition and face recognition. Firstly, all image samples are normalized and decomposed using nonsubsampled contourlet transform. Then we combine the normalized nonsubsampled contourlet-transformed face and palmprint features at the pixel fusion level. At last, the KNN classifiers are used to determine the final biometric classification. and biometric recognition results will be obtained. The experiments are performed on the two well-known databases: CVL database and PolyU palmprint database. We only use one sample of every class as the training sample in the experiments. The experimental results indicate that the proposed approach has better performance than singlemodal solution. and the proposed approach can effectively extract the detailed feature information of the biometric images.
