The outbreak of coronavirus disease 19 (COVID-19) has had a great impact on medical care. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the rate of hospital admissions has been lower and the rate of in-hospital mortality has been higher in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) in Western countries. However, in Japan, it is unknown whether the COVID-19 pandemic has affected the incidence of ACS. In the study, eleven hospitals in the Tokai region participated. Among enrolled hospital, we compared the incidence of ACS during the COVID-19 pandemic (April and May, 2020) with that in equivalent months in the preceding year as the control. During the study period; April and May 2020, 248 patients with ACS were admitted. Compared to April and May 2019, a decline of 8.1% [95% confidence interval (CI) 5.2–12.1; P = 0.33] in admissions for ACS was observed between April and May 2020. There was no significant difference in the strategy for revascularization and in-hospital deaths between 2019 and 2020. In conclusion, the rate of admission for ACS slightly decreased during the COVID-19 pandemic, compared to the same months in the preceding year. 日本原子力研究開発機構が保管する放射性廃棄物のうち、一部の放射性廃棄物については過去に未分別のまま圧縮等の処理が行われていた。このため、埋設処分に向けて圧縮されたものを分解して確認する等の作業に多くの時間が必要であると想定され、放射性廃棄物の早期のリスク低減を行う方策について、廃棄物処理及び埋設処分の2つの観点から検討を実施した。前処理,処理及び固型化といった廃棄物処理作業の中で時間を要している工程を分析し、放射能濃度評価、有害物等の分別、及び可燃物の分別といった課題を抽出した。放射能濃度評価に関しては、保守的な核種組成比と非破壊$\gamma$線測定による廃棄体中の放射能濃度評価方法の検討、及びトレンチ埋設施設構造の高度化を図るとともに、評価対象核種の選定に一定の基準を設定することにより、評価対象核種を絞り込める可能性があることを明らかにした。有害物等の分別に関しては、非破壊検査と記録・有害物使用状況等による分別の要否の確認により、分別作業を大幅に削減できる見込みが得られた。また、廃棄物から地下水中に移行した重金属による地下水中濃度を評価し、水質に関する環境基準を遵守可能な廃棄体中に含有される濃度として受入基準を提示した。可燃物の分別に関しては、埋設施設内空隙増加による陥没の影響を評価し、覆土での事前対応が可能な可燃物含有量を評価するとともに、非破壊検査による可燃物量の確認と、解体で発生するコンクリートのような可燃物含有量が少ない廃棄物との混合埋設により、埋設処分場内の廃棄物層の平均的な可燃物の含有割合を20vol%とする定置管理を行い、分別作業を不要にできる見込みが得られた。原子力科学研究所の圧縮体を例に、これらの方策を施すことによる廃棄物処理加速の効果についての評価を実施し、廃棄物の分別処理作業を約5倍加速できる見込みが得られた。今後、検討した対策の実現に向けた対応を進める。, Radioactive wastes generated from R\&D activities have been stored in Japan Atomic Energy Agency. In order to reduce the risk of taking long time to process legacy wastes, countermeasures for acceleration of waste processing and disposal were studied. Work analysis of waste processing showed bottleneck processes, such as evaluation of radioactivity concentration, segregation of hazardous and combustibles materials. Concerning evaluation of radioactivity concentration, a radiological characterization method using a scaling factor and a nondestructive gamma-ray measurement should be developed. The number of radionuclides that are to be selected for the safety assessment of the trench type disposal facility can decrease using artificial barriers. Hazardous materials, will be identified using records and nondestructive inspection. The waste identified as hazardous will be unpacked and segregated. Preliminary calculations of waste acceptance criteria of hazardous material concentrations were conducted based on environmental standards in groundwater. The total volume of the combustibles will be evaluated using nondestructive inspection. The waste that does not comply with the waste acceptance criteria should be mixed with low combustible material waste such as dismantling concrete waste in order to satisfy the waste acceptance criteria on a disposal facility average. It was estimated that segregation throughput of compressed waste should be increased about 5 times more than conventional method by applying the countermeasures. Further study and technology development will be conducted to realize the plan.

Following in the footsteps of Baku Ishii and Takada Seiko, dancer Eguchi Takaya established an abstract dance form based on Neue Tanz from Germany. He also helped to found a dancers’ organization in pre- and postwar Japan. In addition, he contributed to the creation of Japanese lyrical modern dance, and published journals for modern dance. Born in Noheji, Aomori Prefecture in Japan, Eguchi studied with Takada Masao and Takada Seiko. Takada Masao and Takada Seiko were dancers who, alongside Baku Ishii and Michio Itō, studied under Giovanni Rossi at the Imperial Theatre. After Rossi’s move to America, the four students became involved in popular culture and other areas such as performing arts, photography, and film, and were the first generation of dancers to base their work on Western dance. Their methods were influenced by rythmique (eurhythmics). In most of their work, the performers danced to the accompaniment of music that was well known at the time.

Baku Ishii is widely regarded as the creator of Japanese modern dance. He was born in Mitane-cho, Akita Prefecture in 1886. Despite his difficulty adapting to school life in his early years, he moved to Tokyo at the age of twenty-four to study literature. Eventually, he began studying the violin at the Imperial Theatre. During the course of his violin studies, however, Ishii, moved by his exposure to opera, decided to focus on dance. While he remained at the Imperial Theatre, his new focus led him to study ballet under Giovanni Rossi, a ballet instructor who previously worked in the UK, but who had been invited to teach at the Imperial Theatre by the then managing director Keinosuke Nishino. Ishii also performed in the operas Rossi produced at the Imperial Theatre. Ishii eventually resigned from the opera as a result of an argument with Rossi. After leaving Rossi, Ishii studied rythmique (eurhythmics) with Émile Jaques-Dalcroze. Later he began to choreograph his own work.

Oikawa Hironobu is a multidisciplinary artist with experiences in ballet, theater, and mime with whom Ohno Kazuo and Ohno Yoshito and Hijikata Tatsumi worked during the 1960s. In particular, Oikawa's mime teachings and perhaps more importantly his unique theories of Artaudian embodiment provide intriguing glimpses into little discussed physical influences that were circulating at the time butoh was being developed. After World War II, Oikawa began to study humanities, and enrolled in French courses at Gakushuin. There he studied with Miyake Noriyoshi, and one of the leading lights in Moliere research in Japan, Suzuki Rikie. In order to focus on his theater studies, Oikawa transferred to the Stage Arts School. There he studied with such luminaries as Murayama Tomoyoshi, Okakura Shiro, Hijikata Yoshi, Yamamoto Yasuhide, Ito Michio, and Akita Ujaku. In the end, the connection between Oikawa and butoh remains tentative but undeniable.

NMR and AC conductivity measurements were carried out in DNA film. It was found that proton motion strongly depends on the humidity and is classified in three regions as seen in the humidity dependence of conductivity. In the low-humidity condition, dielectric loss is small and the number of mobile proton is few, and therefore conductivity is low. In the intermediate humidity condition, the increase of proton conductivity is caused by the appearance of proton transport path due to the form of the water bridge. In the high-humidity condition, protons in the water bridge are easy to move by the mediation of the water molecule in the spine of hydration, and proton conductivity further increases.

Repolarization abnormalities after radiofrequency ablation in patients with manifest Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome (WPW) have been attributed to cardiac memory of pre-existing changes in repolarization properties. We compared spatial ventricular gradient (VG) from vectorcardiograms with QRST values of 12-lead ECG in 41 patients with WPW (group A, manifest WPW due to left-sided accessory pathway (n = 20); group B, manifest WPW due to right-sided accessory pathway (n = 12); group C, concealed WPW (n = 9)) before and after ablation. Group N (n = 607) served as control. In groups A and B, the abnormalities of spatial VG and QRST values of 12-lead ECG that existed before and 1 day after ablation significantly decreased 1 week after ablation. In group C, spatial VG and QRST values of 12-lead ECG showed no significant changes. The diagnostic ability of spatial VG is almost equivalent to that of the QRST value of ECG in detecting repolarization abnormalities in patients with WPW before and after ablation. We propose a new concept of a "remodeling gradient" directing from the preexcited area to the opposite side of the ventricle as a result of preexcitation-induced electrical remodeling.
