PON (Passive Optical Network) permits the economical deployment of FTTH (Fiber to the Home) networks by sharing a single optical subscriber line among multiple subscribers. Especially since 2002, the deployment of PON systems has grown rapidly. This paper introduces the current status of FTTH in Japan then proposes a redundant optical access system with APS (Automatic Protection Switching) over PON which enables PONs for FTTBus (Fiber to the Business).

Design, fabrication, and reflectance evaluation of multilayer mirrors for He-II radiation are described. Based on the available complex refractive indices of materials at the wavelength of 30.4 nm, Mg, Al, Si, Cr, and C were selected as small absorption material to be paired. Mo/Si and Sc found in previous works were also included. In referring to optimum design for the highest reflectance, multilayers of Al/Mg, Au/Mg, C/Mg, Sc/Mg, C/Si, Al/C, and Mo/Si were fabricated by ion-beam sputtering. The highest reflectance of 27% was observed by a 15-period Mg/Sc mirror.

In this paper, a fast wavelength switching protocol to deal with the RTT drift problem in WDM/TDM-EPON system is proposed. Estimated process time revealed one sixth reduction of the switching time can be available.

The 10Gbps-PON system with 10G/1G coexistence capability is one of the most promised systems for next generation optical access networks. We successfully developed 10G-EPON system for coexistence with existing 1G-EPON ONU with 8.46Gbps upstream throughput.

近心傾斜歯に対して歯周治療の一環として行ったアップライト7症例について, probing depthの変化およびX線的な歯槽骨の変化を検索した。アップライトは初期治療によって改善できなかった歯周ポケットを歯周外科をすることなしに改善し, その後, 歯周組織を健全に維持することができた。またアップライト前後で歯槽骨の変化は認められなかったことから, 歯の挺出及び遠心移動に伴い歯根膜線維に索引された結果, 骨が添加されたものと推察された。アップライトは, 深いポケットを有する近心傾斜歯の近心側のポケット除去の一方法として, 有効な治療法と考えられる

gnanule状, block状Hydroxyapatite (HAP) を歯周炎患者の骨欠損に応用し, その有用性を臨床的に検討した。予後観察対象は慢性辺縁性歯周炎を有する患者23名, 30部位であった。初期治療終了後, フラップ手術を行ない, granule状, block状HAPを充填した。予後観察は, 術前, 術後1週, 3, 12, 24, 36ヵ月とし, ポケット深さ, 臨床的付着位置の測定, 口腔内カラー写真, 非規格X線撮影を行なった。1. 術後12ヵ月以降はgranule状, block状HAPともに安定した成績が得られた。2. granule状, block状HAP間に予後観察の結果, 著明な差はみられなかった。以上の結果よりgranule状, block状HAPともに臨床上有用な材料であると思われる。
