The Big Five Inventory (BFI) is one of the most studied models of human personality (Fruyt et al., 2004). Traits are influenced significantly by genes and the environment (Soto, 2015). One study of 55 nations found that women tended to be higher than men in agreeableness; men scored higher in some aspects of openness, while women scored higher in others (Costa et al., 2001). Other studies concluded that countries with higher average Openness tend to have more democratic institutions (Barceló, 2016). However, Bond (1996) suggests that personality traits are expressed uniquely in different contexts. Therefore, this study aimed to better understand how differences in agreeableness and openness can be predicted by gender and country of origin (Asian vs non-Asian) when considering cultural contexts.

This research looks at minutes of entire sleep period, minutes of sleep disturbance, and the difference between the two, compared to male and female individuals aged 62-90 years, both with and without the presence of Alzheimer's, dementia, and/or Parkinson's disease to detect a relationship between sleep and these diseases.

Contribution of Anhedonia Symptoms to Reported Burden of Depression

This is a secondary analysis of archival data collected from the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance (DBSA.org) in cooperation with Helping Give Away Psychological Science (HGAPS). Items from the Hypomania Checklist were analyzed for associations between average duration of 'highs', respondent gender, and reported social response to hypomanic periods. To our knowledge, this may be the first investigation of nonbinary gender and responses to hypomanic symptoms.
