The problem of the availability of clean and safe water in Indonesia has increased during global climate change. The conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic also have an impact on increasing domestic water use. This study aims to assess drinking water access in household during COVID-19 pandemic. This study using data of National Household of Drinking Water Quality Survey. The survey conducted in 2020 of 21,829 household in Indonesia. Many households have increased water consumption, households for hand washing (49.6% HH), personal hygiene (37.2% HH), clean house (29.2% HH), and washing (33.9% HH). There are only 1.6% of HH have difficulty accessing drinking water source, 1.3% in urban area and 2.0% in rural area. The cause is 76.1% because of decreased water flow and 42.1% because of economic problems. Drinking water sources used by household who has difficulty accessing drinking water are piped water (26.8%), refill water (16.8%), and bore hole (13.6%). Only few of household difficult to access drinking water during COVID-19 pandemic, meanwhile there are increasingly of drinking water needs. It is suggested that the municipal government form a public-private partnership (PPP) to invest in immediate and long-term water infrastructure in order to strengthen the resilience of drinking water systems against future pandemics.

Water is essential for human life. The availability of decent dan safe water for drinking, food processing, and day to day necessity is required to prevent water-borne diseases. This study analyzes the role of household factors (compositional) and rural/urban village factors (contextual) on the condition of dug-wells water in Indonesia. The analysis used data integration of the 2018 Basic Health Research (Riskesdas) – the National Socioeconomic Survey (Susenas)in March 2018 and the 2018 Village Potential (Podes) data. These three surveys employed a cross-sectional design. We applied multilevel logistic regression modeling using STATA in the analysis. Samples were households that used dug wells in 12,259 rural/urban villages in Indonesia. The result found that 76,5% of households use basic drinking water facilities, in which 54% were in poor condition. The role of household-level (level 1) and rural/urban village-level (level 2) were almost the same, which were 50.13% and 49.87% respectively. In conclusion, there were no differences between household factors and rural/urban village factors in explaining the condition of drinking water from dug wells in Indonesia. To maintain proper and safe dug-wells-drinking-water facilities for all family members, it is necessary to provide environmental education to the community, to encourage community service and to reforest the living environment. - Abstract
A complex mixture of pollutants in wastewater runs down from different sources into the aquatic environment, with potential hazards to aquatic organisms, human health, and the environment. Among these water pollutants, F− , NO3 − , and heavy metals (Cd, Pb Hg, Zn, Cr, Ni, As, etc.) are considered conventional pollutants, whereas nanomaterials, pharmaceutical compounds, personal care products, pesticides, endocrine disrupting compounds (EDCs), artificial sweeteners, surfactants, etc. are known as emerging water pollutants. This cocktail of water pollutants in the aquatic ecosystem is a real danger, leading to detrimental effects. This chapter discussed the environmental risk assessment (ERA) of the emerging water pollutants, especially the nanomaterials. The ERA of emerging pollutants will help indicate potential risks associated with these substances, highlighting the importance of their hazard identification, dose-response and exposure assessment, and risk characterization. This information will give insights into the recent findings related to the pollutants’ effects and their assessment approach.

'''Preparation of fine ammonium perchlorate (AP) particles and thermal behaviour of it are known as the most important challenges in the crystallization and propellant sciences. We introduced an effective method of fine AP preparation named high rate cooling crystallization (HRC). This work presents application of Taguchi approach for optimizing the HRC method. In this study a set of experiments was designed according to the Taguchi L9 array. Experimental design was originated from four effective parameters containing; temperature, pressure, solvent type (water and ethanol) and anticaking agentsodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS). After preparation of fine AP particles average particle size (APS) was measured using laser mass spectrometry (LMS-30). APS, contribution, and the analysis of variance (ANOVA) were used to investigate performance factors affecting the operation condition. According to the data obtained, anti-caking agent and solvent type were represented the main effect on the preparation of micronized AP by using HRC method. Furthermore, the optimum condition in preparation of fine AP particles by using HRC method was ethanol solvent, 10atm pressure, 0.4 % SDS, and 60˚C temperature. Thermal behaviour of the optimized particles was investigated using TG/DSC analysis. Finety of the particles positively shifted the low temperature decomposition (LTD) region of fine optimized sample in comparison with coarse pure AP. Crystallinity of sample was confirmed by SEM and XRD analysis.

Introduction:Nowadays, families face a spectrum of social harms and issues that influence their lives significantly and require to be identified. For this purpose, the current study aimed at analyzing women’s perceived understanding of family harms and hearing their accounts of family issues and harms. That is because women in many cases gain a deeper understanding of the issues and challenges in the family life and the changes occurring there since they play a pivotal role within families and establish interactions and relations with other members of the family. On the other hand, the informal social networks where women are members and their social bonds to women’s groups make it possible for them to share their daily experiences and accumulate a plethora of women’s experiences and interpretations of issues in daily lives, particularly regarding the family life. In many cases, such experiences involve interpretations that can be valuable in understanding family harms and social issues. Materials and Methods: The current study was conducted using a qualitative and phenomenological methodology. The data were collected using semi-structured in-depth interviews with 17 women (aged 18-65 years old) in Fasa, which had been selected according to the purposive sampling technique. The semi-structured interview refers to a flexible interview in which questions are designed based on the main questions of a particular study. In the current study, the research questions were formulated based on the following major questions:- How do the participants understand and describe issues in the domain of family?- What are the most important issues for women according to the participants?- How do women face family issues? How do the female participants classify and categorize family issues?- Which factors are mentioned by the female participants as the background factors in the emergence of social issues? Each participant who took part in the study was completely aware of the process of research and interviews. To obtain their consent, the research study including its goals, questions, the manner of participating, and the process of interviews was explained to all of the participants. In the current study, the Colaizzi’s method was used for data analysis. Thus, the audio files obtained from each interview session were transcribed and coded in a textual format. The extraction of concepts aimed to collect the participants’ significant statements related to the topic of the study and special care was taken so that these statements can be collected with similar valuation and free from repetition and overlap. After the first stage was over, themes and categories were extracted by comparing and merging or eliminating early concepts, and the process of data analysis was conducted. Discussion of Results and Conclusions:Based on the results of the study, two types of harms in the form of “content harms” and “structural harms” were identified and classified. Content harms, which mostly deal with the relationships inside a family and between family members, include three major categories in the form of “the formation of solitude chrysalis and individualized worlds”, “generalized parenting and increasing child-centeredness”, and “constant disagreements and conflicts in the family”.In addition, the second type that refers to external aspects of a family named “structural harms” has been classified in the form of three major categories. These categories include “changes in family values and beliefs as the changes and developments in the family institutions”, “the spillover of social harms to families”, and “challenges related to social welfare”. Altogether, it seems that harms and issues within the family include a wide spectrum of social issues. Though these harms have been classified in the current study into two groups called content and structural harms, many of them are so complicated and intertwined that it seems they originate from one another and create a cycle of harm and social issues. They can be interpreted and assigned meaning based on their cultural environments and backgrounds, and the reduction and prevention of such harms require that those backgrounds be taken into consideration.

In today’s world some changes have been occurred in human lifestyle, these changes, along with the advantages, have led to a series of disadvantages including their disconnection with the nature. One of the most important areas to re-establish the relationship is the school. The presence of nature at schools, and holding some classes in nature, in addition to meeting the special needs of children causes their separation from those small and boring classes as well as their interest in courses . This study aimed to investigate the role of nature in children’s learning. For this purpose, third, fourth and fifth grade classes of 3 schools were held outside the school environment and in the nature in 5 courses. The study is a combinational research and field, indirect observation and library data collection methods were applied, where in the indirect observation, two types of questionnaires were prepared related to the students and teachers and were randomly distributed among 580 students and 50 elementary school teachers. Test reliability was assessed using Cronbach’s alpha and it was obtained to be 0.890. The results of this study indicate that the physical place as one of the factors in children’s learning has the maximum impact on teaching and learning of children. At the end of the study and by investigating the existing factors in the environment we understood that the expansion of the nature and natural light of it causes the students’ interest in lessons in nature.

Quantum dots (QDs) are engineered semiconductor nanocrystals with unique fluorescent, quantum confinement, and quantum yield properties, making them valuable in a range of commercial and consumer imaging, display, and lighting technologies. Production and usage of QDs are increasing, which increases the probability of these nanoparticles entering the environment at various phases of their life cycle. This review discusses the major types and applications of QDs, their potential environmental exposures, fates, and adverse effects on organisms. For most applications, release to the environment is mainly expected to occur during QD synthesis and end-product manufacturing since encapsulation of QDs in these devices prevents release during normal use or landfilling. In natural waters, the fate of QDs is controlled by water chemistry, light intensity, and the physicochemical properties of QDs. Research on the adverse effects of QDs primarily focuses on sublethal endpoints rather than acute toxicity, and the differences in toxicity between pristine and weathered nanoparticles are highlighted. A proposed oxidative stress adverse outcome pathway framework demonstrates the similarities among metallic and carbon-based QDs that induce reactive oxygen species formation leading to DNA damage, reduced growth, and impaired reproduction in several organisms. To accurately evaluate environmental risk, this review identifies critical data gaps in QD exposure and ecological effects, and provides recommendations for future research. Future QD regulation should emphasize exposure and sublethal effects of metal ions released as the nanoparticles weather under environmental conditions. To date, human exposure to QDs from the environment and resulting adverse effects has not been reported.

The study applies the appraisal theory, corpus linguistics, and multimodal critical discourse analysis to identify the positive and negative representation of the Syrian refugees. The researcher collects ten images from Facebook and their comments posted by Europeans, Americans, Australians, and Canadians. The data are collected during 2015, the year in which the Syrian refugee crisis has aggravated, and the flow of the refugees into the western communities has increased. The researcher adopts the appraisal theory of Martin and White (2005) to annotate the attitudinal realizations on UAM CorpusTool 3.0 to highlight the refugees’ emotions, behaviour, and conditions. The researcher has used the attitude subsystems: affect, judgement, and appreciation, using the built-in scheme on the software program in addition to other modifications added to get accurate results. The researcher has saved each image comments in a text file which is in turn saved on the software program to be manually annotated. Then the results are automatically retrieved to set a frequency list based on the most representative appraising features displayed by the data. Therefore, the study depends on the quantitative and qualitative analyses. On the visual level, the images are analyzed according to the approach of Machin and Mayr (2012). That is, the multimodal critical discourse analysis of the images enable the researcher to focus on the Syrian refugees’ attributes, settings, clothes, facial expressions, salience, gazes, postures, and their interactional strategies with the viewer. The objective is to identify the refugees’ identities and ideologies. Hence, the verbal and visual analyses of the data are combined to explore the representation of the Syrian refugees’ thoughts, ethics, feelings, and characteristics.

In this digital era, business between countries has entered the virtual network. The business climate is highly competitive in almost all sectors due to technological advances. To run a business people are required to manage the business in such a way as to be effective, efficient, and productive super- responsive and flexible to improve service to consumers. Taking into account the complexities of business management, the range of control of production processes and the availability of resources, encourages companies to invite other companies to partner in outsourcing format. By outsourcing a company submitssome of its production process to another company with the aim of obtaining one of the most efficient combination of resource use. In Indonesia the practice of outsourcing is actually not something new. The practice of handing over work to other companies has been known since Dutch colonial times. In Article 1601b of the Civil Code or Burgerlijk Wetboek (BW) it is found that there is a definition of chatering job . It is said that the Contract of Work, is an agreement between one party and another, where the one party (the employer of the work) wants a work which the other party can afford, on the payment of a certain money as the price of the contract.

This study presents the impacts of TiO2 nanoparticles (TNPs) amendment on plant growth, phosphorus (P) content, and dissolved organic matter (DOM) composition in the rhizosphere. For this work, wheat plants (Galaxy-2013) were exposed to soil amended by different amounts of TNPs (i.e., 0, 50, and 100 mg TNP/kg of soil) for 40 days and harvested. The maximum increase in the shoots and roots lengths reached 15.9 ± 0.3% and 3.8 ± 0.3% respectively, which was concurrent with improved P content in the plants. Compared with the control, the P content in the shoots and roots was enriched by 23.4% and 17.9% at 50 mg TNP/kg of soil respectively. The increased electrical conductivity (EC) and decreased pH of the rhizosphere implied that the added TNPs might induce the enhancement of the P dissolution. Fluorescence spectroscopy revealed the increase of microbial activity as depicted by the humification index (HIX) changing from 0.88 ± 0.02 to 0.92 ± 0.01, with increasing TNPs amendments. Excitation-emission matrix coupled with parallel factor analysis (EEM-PARAFAC) showed the presence of four fluorescent components (C1 to C4) in the rhizosphere. Three of them (C1-C3) were related to humic-like substances, while the C4 was associated with protein-like fluorescence. EEM-PARAFAC results revealed the degradation of C4, and the enhancement of the other three components, which supported the stimulation of microbial activity by the TNPs amendment. This study provided new insights into the relation between improved phytoavailble P in plants and the changes in the rhizosphere soil solution chemistry and the DOM composition upon TNPs amendments.

Nutrient management is always a great concern for better crop production. The optimized use of nutrients plays a key role in sustainable crop production, which is a major global challenge as it depends mainly on synthetic fertilizers. A novel fertilizer approach is required that can boost agricultural system production while being more ecologically friendly than synthetic fertilizers. As nanotechnology has left no field untouched, including agriculture, by its scientific innovations. The use of nanofertilizers in agriculture is in the early stage of development, but they appear to have significant potential in different ways, such as increased nutrient-use efficiency, the slow release of nutrients to prevent nutrient loss, targeted delivery, improved abiotic stress tolerance, etc. This review summarizes the current knowledge on various developments in the design and formulation of nanoparticles used as nanofertilizers, their types, their mode of application, and their potential impacts on agricultural crops. The main emphasis is given on the potential benefits of nanofertilizers, and we highlight the current limitations and future challenges related to the wide-scale application before field applications. In particular, the unprecedent release of these nanomaterials into the environment may jeopardize human health and the ecosystem. As the green revolution has occurred, the production of food grains has increased at the cost of the disproportionate use of synthetic fertilizers and pesticides, which have severely damaged our ecosystem. We need to make sure that the use of these nanofertilizers reduces environmental damage, rather than increasing it. Therefore, future studies should also check the environmental risks associated with these nanofertilizers, if there are any; moreover, it should focus on green manufactured and biosynthesized nanofertilizers, as well as their safety, bioavailability, and toxicity issues, to safeguard their application for sustainable agriculture environments.

The phenomenon of climate change has appeared in recent time as an unstoppable and unequivocal event due to the change of environmental condition, rising of sea level, ozone layer fluctuation, and most importantly, it has raised the global apprehension in lowering global food production. Abiotic stress is one of the major factors influencing overall performance of crop plants. The response of crop plant due to environmental alteration could be effective due to the accumulation of compatible solutes or osmoprotetctants, which contain amino acids, polyamines, sugar, and quaternary ammonium compounds. Compatible solutes play important role in mitigating the adverse effect of abiotic stresses in plants. Compatible solutes are low molecular weight compounds stabilizing cellular structure and scavenging reactive oxygen species (ROS) during abiotic stress conditions. The role of compatible solutes is very important in plant growth and development, i.e., glycinebetaine (GB) is helpful in maintaining osmotic potential, protecting proteins from denaturation and restoration of photosystem II complex (PSII) in plants. The biosynthesis of compatible solutes is important in plants especially adapting under stressful environment, in stabilizing the structure of PSII by protecting extrinsic proteins, and the introgression of genes associated with osmoprotactants from one plant to another by genetic engineering.

Nanotechnology has paved the way for overcoming numerous obstacles in agriculture by providing distinct improvements, beyond those of traditional methods. Engineered nanomaterials (ENMs) have been employed to improve plant growth and development, with specific goals of increasing crop production, suppressing plant disease and improving nutrient management. Nutrient deficiencies in soil limit crop yields worldwide. In recent decades, nanoparticles (NPs) have been considered as a mechanism for improving plant nutrition. This chapter draws attention to one of the crucial issues in agriculture management, i.e., the phytoavailability of naturally-bound nutrients in soil, particularly inorganic phosphorus (Pi), which has been an on-going concern for sustainable crop production. In most soils, substantial concentrations of inorganic and organic phosphates are present; however, approximately 88–99% of inorganic phosphorus is bound with calcium (Ca) and therefore unavailable to plants. About 30–40% of global crop yields are limited by low phosphorus availability. The content of this chapter focuses on the potential role of NPs for improving phytoavailability of soil phosphorus with special emphasis on soil properties affecting phosphorus availability; impacts of NPs on plant growth and development; potential phytotoxic effects of NPs and routes of entry in plants; and other mechanisms including biogeochemical processes.

Renewable Energy, Sustainability and the Environment ,Geography, Planning and Development ,Management, Monitoring, Policy and Law - Abstract
Nanowaste is defined as waste derived from materials with at least one dimension in the 1–100 nm range. The nanomaterials containing products are considered as “nanoproducts” and they can lead to the development of nanomaterial-containing waste, also termed as “nanowaste”. The increased production and consumption of these engineered nanomaterials (ENMs) and nanoproducts that generate enormous amounts of nanowaste have raised serious concerns about their fate, behavior, and ultimate disposal in the environment. It is of the utmost importance that nanowaste is disposed of in an appropriate manner to avoid an adverse impact on human health and the environment. The unique properties of ENMs, combined with an inadequate understanding of appropriate treatment techniques for many forms of nanowaste, makes nanowaste disposal a complex task. Presently, there is a lack of available information on the optimized standards for identifying, monitoring, and managing nanowaste. Therefore, this review highlights concerns about nanowaste as future waste that need to be addressed. The review focuses on ENMs waste (in the form of NP, nanotubes, nanowires, and quantum dots) generated from the manufacture of a wide variety of nanoproducts that end up as nanowaste and adversely affect the environment. Furthermore, the review considers different types of ENMs in waste streams and environmental compartments (i.e., soil, water, and air). Detailed studies are still required to identify data gaps and implement strategies to remove and control this future waste.

Titanium dioxide nanoparticles (TiO2 NPs) are used widely in commercial products. These high production levels have led to their increased release into natural ecosystems, where they may interact with plants and affect their physiological functions. The aim of this study was to assess the physiological responses of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) to increasing concentrations of TiO2 NPs. TiO2 NPs with a particle size less than 20 nm were administered as soil spiked with 0, 20, 40, 60, 80, and 100 mg TiO2 NPs kg−1, and their physiological parameters, including root and shoot lengths, biomass, phytoavailability of phosphorus (P), chlorophyll content, H2O2 production, and micronuclei (MN) formation in the plants grown from seeds in NPs-spiked soils, were subsequently recorded. All experiments were repeated twice with four replicates per treatment. After 60 days exposure to the NPs, root and shoot lengths, and P uptake by plants was significantly (p

Most of the world’s population is exposed to highly polluted air conditions exceeding the WHO limits, causing various human diseases that lead towards increased morbidity as well as mortality. Expenditures on air purification and costs spent on the related health issues are rapidly increasing. To overcome this burden, plants are potential candidates to remove pollutants through diverse biological mechanisms involving accumulation, immobilization, volatilization, and degradation. This eco-friendly, cost-effective, and non-invasive method is considered as a complementary or alternative tool compared to engineering-based remediation techniques. Various plant species remove indoor and outdoor air pollutants, depending on their morphology, growth condition, and microbial communities. Hence, appropriate plant selection with optimized growth conditions can enhance the remediation capacity significantly. Furthermore, suitable supplementary treatments, or finding the best combination junction with other methods, can optimize the phytoremediation process.

Plants have the natural ability to withstand stress conditions through metabolic adjustments. The present study aimed at investigating the effects of titanium dioxide nanoparticles (TiO2 NPs) application (0, 25, 50, 150, 250, 500, and 750 mg kg–1) in phosphorus-deficient soil in terms of growth responses, P contents, and metabolic alterations in rice. TiO2 NPs application increased shoot length up to 14.5%. Phosphorus contents in rice roots, shoots, and grains were increased by 2.6-, 2.4-, and 1.3-fold, respectively, at 750 mg kg–1 of TiO2 NPs. Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS)-based metabolomics revealed increased levels of amino acids, palmitic acid, and glycerol content in grains resulting from plants grown in 750 mg kg–1 TiO2 NPs-treated soil. Furthermore, no translocation of TiO2 NPs from the treated soil to rice grains was detected by inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES), which suggests no risk of TiO2 NPs intake via grain consumption. The observed data indic...

The aim of the study was to compare the protective and interpersonal strengths as positive personality traits in employees with healthy (G: good health pattern, S: sparing pattern) and unhealthy (A: ambitious pattern, B: burnout pattern) job stress coping styles. Therefore, 146 employees of an industrial organization in Mashhad were selected by stratified random sampling and asked to respond to research tools. The instruments were the Values in Action Inventory of Strengths from Peterson & Seligman and Work-related Behavior and Experience Patterns Questionnaire from Schaarschmidt & Fischer. The results of multivariate analysis of variance showed that employees with healthy coping styles had higher means of protective and interpersonal strengths than unhealthy subjects. These findings open a new field for research on the role of personality in coping with work-related stress. Character strengths are trainable personal characteristics. Therefore, they are valuable resources to improve coping with work-related stress and to decreasing its negative effects.

Unprecedent usage of nanoparticles (NPs) over very large scale has raised concerns about their release into agro-environments. The effects of these emerging pollutants on staple food crops and contrasted soils are not very well documented. The main aim of present work was to investigate the exposure–response of 10 wheat cultivars to titanium dioxide (TiO2) NPs (0–1000 mg kg−1) in terms of early growth parameters followed by evaluation of the selected cultivar for complete growth cycle cultivated on contrasted soils in terms of various physicochemical characteristics. Among all the 10 tested wheat cultivars, only Galaxy cultivar sustained to the whole TiO2 NPs exposure range. TiO2 NPs exposure at 1000 mg kg−1 adversely affected the early growth response parameters in MH, Ujala, Uqab, Shafaq and FSD wheat cultivars which clearly indicated the toxic effects induced by NPs. Pot studies were performed using Galaxy cultivar cultivated in different textured soils (loam and sandy loam). At the highest tested concentration of TiO2 NPs, plant growth, biomass and phosphorus (P) concentration along with other tested parameters were not improved in both types of soils compared to their respective control groups. These results suggested the controlled use of NPs to avoid the NPs contamination in soil–plant ecosystems in the longer run.
