Vagus nerve-preserving gastrectomy is increasingly popular in treating gastric cancer in the early stage, however the long and short-term outcomes after gastrectomy while preserving the celiac branch of the vagus nerve are not well defined. We aimed to summarize and compare perioperative and longer-term outcomes after celiac branch vagus nerve-preserving gastrectomy (CBP, preserving both the celiac and hepatic branches of the vagus nerve), compared to those without CBP (non-CBP, only the hepatic branch of the vagus nerve is preserved).We searched the Embase, PubMed, Cochrane Library and Web of Science databases for papers published before October 2021. The primary results were evaluated by short-term and long-term postoperative complications, whereas the secondary outcomes included surgery-related parameters, recovery-related parameters and overall survival. Random-effects or fixed-effects model were used to estimate odds ratio, and weighted mean difference for the outcomes. The underlying publication bias was identified via funnel charts, Begg's test and Egger's test. Sensitivity analysis was conducted by removing the research one by one.A total of 9 studies consisting of 8 retrospective studies and one randomized control trial were included. The analysis included 1,109 patients, with 568 (51.2%) of patients receiving CBP and 541 (48.8%) patients who received non-CBP. The CBP group had a shorter time in terms of first flatus (weighted mean difference = -0.436, 95% confidence interval: -0.603 to -0.269; P0.001) and hospital stay (weighted mean difference = -0.456, 95% confidence interval: -0.874 to -0.037, P = 0.033) than the non-CBP group, but the time to the start of oral intake was comparable between the groups. Regarding short-term complications and surgery-related parameters, between CBP and non-CBP, no evident differences were observed in pancreatic complications, anastomotic leakage, postoperative bleeding, operation time, blood loss or lymph nodes examined. In terms of long-term complications, the incidence of gallstones in CBP was lower than that in non-CBP (odds ratio = 0.582, 95% confidence interval: 0.356-0.953, P = 0.031), and the incidence of bile reflux in CBP was lower than that in non-CBP (odds ratio = 0.473, 95% confidence interval: 0.280-0.800, P = 0.005). However, the prevalence rates of diarrhea, early dumping syndrome, esophageal reflux, and delayed gastric emptying were comparable between CBP and non-CBP.The present research showed that gastric cancer patients in the early stage under CBP were superior to those without CBP in terms of incidence of gallstones, bile reflux, time of first flatus and hospital stay. Furthermore, it is imperative to conduct randomized control studies with larger sample sizes to determine the oncological survival outcomes when preserving the celiac branch.

Highlights The tested biodegradable mulch film can be rapidly degraded in rice fields in cold regions and has good applicability. The degradation rate of white mulch film is faster than that of black film before the induction period, and the degradation law after the induction period is opposite. The combination of mulching film and water-saving irrigation can effectively enhance the photosynthetic capacity and dry matter transport of rice in cold regions. Through comprehensive evaluation, we found that the combination of ridge irrigation and mulching FC plastic film has the best effect on environmental protection and rice growth. Abstract. To reveal the mechanism of influence of different types of biodegradable plastic film mulching and irrigation combinations on the physiological growth characteristics of rice in cold regions, eight types of film mulching irrigation methods were designed, which combined four types of plastic film mulching and two types of irrigation methods for a total of nine treatments. The study analyzed the degradation law of degradable plastic film in rice fields in cold regions, and the effects of film-mulching irrigation methods on rice photosynthetic characteristics, dry matter transport, and rice yield. The results showed that the three biodegradable plastic films were suitable for the rice fields in the northeast cold region. Except for the jointing stage, mulching irrigation treatments could increase the chlorophyll content and net photosynthetic rate of rice, and the improvement degree showed a downward trend with the growth of rice. The film mulching irrigation treatments improved rice stems and leaves dry matter transport and grain contribution. The comprehensive evaluation based on the comprehensive index method showed that the combination of ridge irrigation and thin black biodegradable mulch is the best combination of biodegradable plastic film mulching and irrigation in the study area. Background Opsin is an important molecular basis of the visual system, besides, it was discovered that opsins have also evolved additional functions despite color vision. However, the study of the unconventional function has been limited to a few species. With the increasing number of genome databases, various numbers and types of opsins have been identified in insects due to gene duplications or losses. The brown planthopper (Nilaparvata lugens, BPH) is a Hemipteran rice pest known for its long-distance migration capability. Opsins in BPH were identified and characterized by analyzing the genome and transcriptome. RNA interference (RNAi) was used to investigate the functions of opsins, and the potential molecular mechanism was studied by the Illumina Novaseq 6000 platform-based transcriptome sequencing.Results Four opsins belonging to G protein-coupled receptors were identified in BPH genome, including one long-sensitive opsin (Nllw) and three ultraviolet-sensitive opsins (NlUV1-3). A tandem array of NlUV1/2 on chromosome suggested a gene duplication event, with similar exons distribution. Spatiotemporal expression modes showed that the four opsins were highly expressed in eye with age-different expression levels, indicating functional differentiation. RNAi targeting each of the four opsins did not significantly affect the survival of BPH in phytotron, but silencing of Nllw resulted in melanism of the body color. Further transcriptome analysis revealed up-regulation of a tyrosine hydroxylase gene (NlTH) and down-regulation of an arylalkylamine-N-acetyltransferases gene (NlaaNAT) in BPH, indicating that Nllw is involved in body color plastic development through the tyrosine-mediated melanism pathway.Conclusions This study provides the first evidence in a Hemipteran insect that an opsin (Nllw) takes part in the regulation of cuticle melanization, confirming the visual system cross-talks with the morphological differentiation in insects.

The crisis of arsenic (As) accumulation in rhizomes threatens the quality and safety of Panax notoginseng(Burk.) F.H. Chen, which is a well-known traditional Chinese herb with a long clinical history. The uptake of arsenate (AsV) could be suppressed by supplying phosphate (Pi), in which Pi transporters play important roles in the uptake of Pi and AsV. Herein, the P. notoginseng Pi transporter-encoding gene PnPht1;3 was identified and characterised under Pi deficiency and AsV exposure. In this study, the open reading frame (ORF) of PnPht1;3 was cloned according to RNA-seq and encoded 545 amino acids. The relative expression levels revealed that PnPht1;3 was significantly upregulated under phosphate deficiency and AsV exposure. Heterologous expression in Saccharomyces cerevisiae MB192 demonstrated that PnPht1;3 performed optimally in complementing the yeast Pi-transport defect and accumulated more As in the cells. Combined with the subcellular localisation prediction, it was concluded that PnPht1;3 encodes a functional plasma membrane-localised transporter protein that mediates putative high-affinity Pi/H+ symport activity and enhances the uptake of Pi and AsV. Therefore, a better understanding of the roles of the P. notoginseng Pi transporter could provide new insight for solving As accumulation in medicinal plants.

Purpose: Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is the most common head and neck cancer in Southeast Asia. Because local recurrence and distant metastasis are still the main causes of NPC treatment failure, it is urgent to identify new tumor markers and therapeutic targets for advanced NPC.Experimental Design: RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) was applied to look for interchromosome translocation in NPC. PCR, FISH, and immunoprecipitation were used to examine the fusion gene expression at RNA, DNA, and protein levels in NPC biopsies. MTT assay, colony formation assay, sphere formation assay, co-immunoprecipitation, chromatin immunoprecipitation assay, and in vivo chemoresistance assay were applied to explore the function of RARS-MAD1L1 in NPC.Results: We demonstrated that RARS-MAD1L1 was present in 10.03% (35/349) primary NPC biopsies and 10.7% (9/84) in head and neck cancer (HNC) samples. RARS-MAD1L1 overexpression increased cell proliferation, colony formation, and tumorigenicity in vitro, and the silencing of endogenous RARS-MAD1L1 reduced cancer cell growth and colony formation in vitro. In addition, RARS-MAD1L1 increased the side population (SP) ratio and induced chemo- and radioresistance. Furthermore RARS-MAD1L1 interacted with AIMP2, which resulted in activation of FUBP1/c-Myc pathway. The silencing of FUBP1 or the administration of a c-Myc inhibitor abrogated the cancer stem cell (CSC)-like characteristics induced by RARS-MAD1L1. The expression of c-Myc and ABCG2 was higher in RARS-MAD1L1–positive HNC samples than in negative samples.Conclusions: Our findings indicate that RARS-MAD1L1 might contribute to tumorigenesis, CSC-like properties, and therapeutic resistance, at least in part, through the FUBP1/c-Myc axis, implying that RARS-MAD1L1 might serve as an attractive target for therapeutic intervention for NPC. The housekeeping sortase A (SrtA), a membrane-associated cysteine transpeptidase, is responsible for anchoring surface proteins to the cell wall peptidoglycan in Gram-positive bacteria. This process is essential for the regulation of bacterial virulence and pathogenicity. Therefore, SrtA is considered to be an ideal target for antivirulence therapy. In this study, we report that ML346, a compound with a barbituric acid and cinnamaldehyde scaffold, functions as an irreversible inhibitor of Staphylococcus aureus SrtA (SaSrtA) and Streptococcus pyogenes SrtA (SpSrtA) in vitro at low micromolar concentrations. According to our X-ray crystal structure of the SpSrtAΔN81/ML346 complex (Protein Data Bank ID: 7V6K), ML346 covalently modifies the thiol group of Cys208 in the active site of SpSrtA. Importantly, ML346 significantly attenuated the virulence phenotypes of S. aureus and exhibited inhibitory effects on Galleria mellonella larva infection caused by S. aureus. Collectively, our results indicate that ML346 has potential for development as a covalent antivirulence agent for treating S. aureus infections, including methicillin-resistant S. aureus.

Trace amounts of components in traditional Chinese medicine are considered pharmacological active substances used for treating many serious diseases. However, purifying all the trace substances and making clear their structures are not easy. In this context, high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with quadrupole time-of-flight tandem mass spectrometry based molecular networking was applied to investigate the chemical constituents of the roots of Aconitum kusnezoffii Reichb., which led to the identification of 33 nodes in different groups (N1-N33). Based on the excremental fragmentation pathway of known diterpenoid alkaloids (1-9) and comparisons of characteristic ions and characteristic loss of analogs in literature, the structures of unknown ions were deduced. This work lays a foundation for the evaluation of the clinical basis and mechanism of traditional Chinese medicine from the aspects of chemistry. In this paper, the method speculation of unknown natural products by means of molecular network method is expected to be applied in the discovery and change law of relevant active components in clinical pharmacology and the change of complex systems caused by trace active compounds.

In this paper, a more general multi-objective optimization model is developed to efficiently investigate the annual optical comprehensive performance of the entire linear Fresnel reflector concentrator (LFRC). It was carried out by combining the multi-objective genetic algorithm (MOGA) and the Monte Carlo ray-tracing (MCRT) method, with an effective objective function verified to efficiently characterize the annual solar flux non-uniformity of LFRCs, named as the nominal annual solar flux non-uniformity. With this indicator, trade-off studies can be realized for considering the common conflicting relationship between the optical efficiency and the solar flux non-uniformity on annual time scale. It was validated and proved to make the costly infeasible LFRC MOGA-MCRT optimization feasible, which significantly reduces the computing time of the originally time-consuming optimization almost two orders of magnitude. After validation, this optimization model was successfully applied to optimize LFRCs of different mirror shapes and tracking modes at different latitudes. The recommended geometrical parameters combination was obtained from each Pareto front, by using a method called Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to an Ideal Solution (TOPSIS). Through continuously expanding the application scope and reusing TOPSIS, better parameters combination was further recommended. For the most recommended parameters combination studied in this paper, the nominal annual solar flux non-uniformity decreased by 38.04% while the nominal annual optical efficiency increased by 133.60%, as compared with the original LFRC baseline system. This time-reducing optimization model is thus proved to be effective, which could also provide guidance for the optical optimization of other similar solar thermal applications.

In this paper, we report that an effective and simple chemical method under the low temperature (60 °C) could synthesize zinc oxide (ZnO) nanoparticles and effectively control the crystal growth based on the hydrothermal method. X-ray diffraction, X-ray electron spectroscopy, high resolution transmission electron microscopy and ultra violet visible spectroscopy were used to characterize the structure and performance of the samples. It is shown that the ZnO nanoparticles synthesized under the optimal reaction conditions are strong ultraviolet absorption, high-uniformed sphere and high specific surface. In the photodegradation of rhodamine B (RhB) tests, ZnO nanoparticles thrived well during the reaction and degraded the material in 50 minutes. Since ZnO nanoparticles towards RhB degradation shows a good stability, it might provide an effective way to tackle environmental pollution.

This paper puts forward a whole set of intelligent scheme for bar warehouse crane for the guidance of metallurgical process engineering, including cluster rapid self-awareness technology of the smart crane, precise self-executing technique of crane with rigid-flexible hybrid structure, multi-body system kinematics model of the smart crane sling and the swing characteristics model at different azimuth, anti-swing control technology based on the optimization objective function, the vehicle model recognition system based on lidar, and the clustering crane dynamic scheduling method based on multi-agent reinforcement learning. The complete intelligent logistics system of the bar warehouse has changed the original operation mode of the warehouse area and realized the unmanned operation and intelligent scheduling of the crane, which is of great significance for improving the production efficiency, reducing the production cost, and improving the product quality.

In order to reduce the nitrogen oxides (NOx) emission of flue gas, a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system must be installed. In general, the lag of the inlet NOx analyzer, the action of the NH3 injection valve and the feedforward signal are seriously delayed. Therefore, it is necessary to consider the measurement lag of inlet NOx on the NH3 injection flowrate control system. In this paper, the data-driven model of inlet NOx is proposed to improve control system, so as to avoid excessive or insufficient NH3 injection. First, the measurement lag time of inlet NOx is estimated by the blowback signal of a CEMS and the change process of the inlet O2 content. Then, an exponential model is used to predict the inlet NOx in advance, and recursive LSSVM is proposed to revise the output of the exponential model. Finally, the output of the final model is used as the feedforward signal for improved feedforward (IF) control. Based on IF control and PID control, the IF-PID control strategy for NH3 injection is proposed. The results show that the outlet NOx are close to the set value and meet the national environmental regulation. Furthermore, the average value of the NH3 injection flowrate remains unchanged. It shows that a better control effect and environmental sustainability are achieved without increasing the cost of NH3 injection.

ObjectiveTo use structural magnetic resonance imaging (3D-MRI) to evaluate the abnormal development of the cerebral cortex in infants with global developmental delay (GDD).MethodsThe GDD group includes 67 infants aged between 112 and 699 days with global developmental delay and who underwent T1-weighted MRI scans in Shanxi Children's Hospital from December 2019 to March 2022. The healthy control (HC) group includes 135 normal developing infants aged between 88 and 725 days in Shanxi Children's Hospital from September 2020 to August 2021. Whole-brain T1-weighted MRI scans were carried out with a 3.0-T magnetic resonance scanner, which was later processed using InfantSurfer to perform MR image processing and cortical surface reconstruction. Two morphological features of the cortical surface of the 68 brain regions were computed, i.e., the cortical thickness (CT) and cortical surface area (SA), and compared between the GDD and HC groups.ResultsWith regard to the CT, the HC group showed a rapid decrease at first and then a slow increase after birth, and the CT of the GDD group decreased slowly and then became relatively stable. The GDD group showed bilaterally higher hemispherical average CT than those in the HC group. In detail, for the left hemisphere, except in the entorhinal and temporal poles in which the average CT values of the two brain regions were lower than those of the HC group, the CT of the 26 brain regions in the GDD group was higher than those of the HC group (p < 0.05). For the right hemisphere, the CT of the entorhinal in the GDD group was lower than that in the HC group. Otherwise, the CT of the remaining 28 brain regions was higher than those in the HC group (p < 0.05). With regard to the SA, both groups showed a rapid increase after birth till 23 months and remained quite stable afterward. The GDD group shows lower SA bilaterally than that in the HC group. In detail, SA in the GDD group was lower in most cortical regions of both hemispheres than in the HC group (p < 0.05), except for the right temporal pole and entorhinal. When testing for brain asymmetry, we found that the HC group showed obvious asymmetry of CT and SA, while only a few cortical regions in the GDD group showed asymmetry.

A new lignan, named sieverlignan C (1), as well as nine known compounds (2–10), were isolated from the leaves and stems of Artemisia sieversiana. The structure of the new lignan was elucidated from detailed spectroscopic analysis, including HR-MS, NMR, and circular dichroism experiments. All the compounds were isolated from the A. sieversiana plant for the first time.

Recently, hydrate technology as a newly emerging field has been attracting more and more attention. To support its potential applications, the dissociation behaviors and kinetics of CO2 hydrate in pure water and water/sediments systems at specified temperatures were studied experimentally by depressurization method. This work reveals two novel aspects of CO2 hydrate dissociation. Firstly, it is remarkable that the dissociation rate of CO2 hydrate in water/sediments is faster than that of CO2 hydrate in pure water, which has not been conscious previously. Secondly, a pseudo first‐order kinetic equation including the kinetic constant and activation energy was formulated to describe the dissociation process. Temperature plays an important role and the dissociation rate constant (kd) and activation energy (ΔEa) were obtained through the dissociation experiments at different temperatures. For CO2 hydrate in pure water, the dissociation rate constant increased from 0.02 to 0.13 mol/(dm2⋅MPa⋅min) at the temperature from 273.86 to 276.11 K, and the activation energy was 469.06 kJ mol−1. For CO2 hydrate in water/sediments, the dissociation rate constant was from 0.03 to 0.15 mol/(dm2⋅MPa⋅min) at the temperature ranging from 273.45 to 276.11 K, and the activation energy was 346.30 kJ mol−1. © 2021 Society of Chemical Industry and John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

Isoindolinone- and tetrahydroisoquinoline-based cyclic scaffolds comprise the key, structural feature of a wide range of biologically active molecules. Here we report an, approach for the synthesis of chiral isoindolinones and tetrahydroisoquinolines based, on the umpolung allylation of imines. The products contain a free N–H group, which is, primed for further derivatization.

Alongshan virus (ALSV) in the Jingmenvirus group within the family Flaviviridae is a newly discovered tick-borne virus associated with human disease, whose genome includes four segments and encodes four structural proteins (VP1a, VP1b, VP2, VP3, and VP4) and two non-structural proteins (NSP1 and NSP2). Here, we characterized the subcellular distribution and potential function of ALSV proteins in host cells. We found that viral proteins exhibited diverse subcellular distribution in multiple tissue-deriving cells and induced various morphological changes in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER), and NSP2, VP1b, VP2, and VP4 were all co-localized in the ER. The nuclear transfer and co-localization of VP4 and calnexin (a marker protein of ER), which were independent of their interaction, were unique to HepG2 cells. Expression of NSP1 could significantly reduce mitochondria quantity by inducing mitophagy. These findings would contribute to better understanding of the pathogenesis of emerging segmented flaviviruses.
