Binocular ranging has broad application in the three-dimensional reconstruction, non-contact accurate quantitative measurement and dangerous scene perception. However, the traditional monocular ranging technology focuses on two-dimensional images, the measurement accuracy is poor. Moreover, laser ranging has radiation, radar ranging is susceptible to electromagnetic waves and has high cost, and poor ultrasonic ranging accuracy. Thus, this paper proposes a binocular ranging system based on the fusion of Matlab and OpenCV. Firstly, the feasibility of semi-global block matching(SGBM) and block Matching(BM) algorithms is verified by using the OpenCV. Secondly, it was transplanted to an embedded platform based on the industrial JN-P08, and the ranging results were obtained. In addition, the accuracy and speed comparison test shows that the SGBM algorithm is more suitable for scenarios with high accuracy requirements, while BM is more suitable for ranging in scenes with high speed requirements.
