In recent decades, rapid urbanization has been linked to negative impacts on people’s mental health. However, the healing potential of urban parks as central features of cityscapes has not been fully explored from the perspective of audio-visual integration. This gap limits designers’ ability to leverage parks’ healing systems to their full potential. To address this gap, this study used the Mindwave monitoring and recovery component scale to evaluate the healing function of urban parks in Chengdu, specifically focusing on audio-visual integration. Based on audio-visual scene combination samples collected through shooting and recording, we found that: (1) The visual and audio qualities of birdsong (the sky above the blue space and the green space) can significantly differ. (2) Birdsong and conversation seem to provide healing effects from seemingly contradictory dimensions of “quiet” and “social”, with gender differences as the primary influencing factor. (3) Visible children laughing at low levels (30% and 50%) has a more negative impact than invisible traffic noise at the same sound pressure level. (4) Audio-visual interaction does not always have a positive effect, with the visibility of the sound source as the primary influencing factor. (5) An increase in audio proportion did not necessarily correspond to a linear increase in the healing effect. Through exploring the influence of audio-visual combination scenes on healing effects in urban parks, this study provides an empirical basis for park design and planning that considers audio-visual healing effects. It offers insights into designing healing systems for parks and urban areas as well.

Since the Central Rural Work Conference in 2017 first proposed to take the road of socialist rural revitalization with Chinese characteristics, all townships have been actively exploring the road of rural revitalization that conforms to local characteristics. Right now, since February 2018, “Park City” has been promoted, and a series of measures have been implemented, which are of great significance to the sustainable development of urban and rural areas. It is of great strategic significance to explore a road to rural revitalization under the background of park cities and to implement the construction and implementation of township spaces. The Anyue County Party Committee and County Government attaches great importance to it, actively organizes, conducts in-depth research, and successfully completes the “Territorial spatial master planning of Wenhua Town, Anyue County”, which not only aims to realize the formation of intensive and efficient production space, moderate living space, and ecological space with beautiful scenery and safety. The harmonious, open, efficient, attractive and quality territorial space pattern has laid a solid foundation for the construction of a lemon culture agricultural tourism town, and also reflects the concept of some park cities. This paper conducts research and discussion on its planning formulation, summarizes the formulation of the existing township-level territorial space master planning, and puts forward some innovative suggestions for rural revitalization in the context of park cities.

Dissertação de Mestrado Integrado em Arquitetura apresentada à Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia A Dissertação de Mestrado aqui apresentada integrada no tema “Cabo do Mundo 21 – Uma Cidade-Parque Pós-Carbono e Pós-Pandemia”, resulta de um desafio lançado pelo Ateliê de Projeto II-B, que nos levou a pensar a arquitetura da cidade e o modo de a habitar Pós-Carbono e Pós-Pandemia, tendo como base o local onde hoje se encontra a Refinaria de Matosinhos, em Leça da Palmeira.Futuramente, verificando-se a meta da Neutralidade Carbónica até 2050, cujo objetivo real é reduzir as emissões de gases com efeito de estufa em 85% a 90%, será inevitável a herança de estruturas/instalações desativadas, anteriormente edificadas com o propósito de refinar combustíveis fósseis.Enquanto agentes dominadores do processo artístico e técnico que envolve a elaboração de espaços organizados e criativos para abrigar diferentes tipos de atividades humanas, somos levados a fazer esse exercício relativamente aos “vazios” gerados pela desativação dessas estruturas.A Refinaria de Matosinhos em Leça da Palmeira, objeto do presente estudo, viverá um futuro próximo como “vazio”, sendo urgente, face ao seu enquadramento urbano-paisagístico, reconverter aquela área, através de um projeto urbano, todo ele pensado e planeado de forma sustentável para o Homem na sua vivência em comunidade.Nesse sentido, o trabalho em questão passará pela compreensão de toda a área de estudo, sendo indispensável uma análise completa desse território, entendendo os contextos, geográficos, sociais e económicos, procurando perceber o que melhor se adequa àquele espaço e o que será necessário para transformar o “vazio” numa área preenchida de soluções que irão ao encontro das futuras necessidades quotidianas, justificadas pela presença humana.Para a concretização dessa análise e desenvolvimento do trabalho prático de projeto, o exercício foi desenvolvido em três fases, de turma, de grupo e individual. Todas as fases são de extrema importância, possibilitando desenvolver desde as ideias de turma mais gerais, até ao mais substantivo e particularizável, o projeto individual.Tendo presente o objetivo Neutralidade Carbónica até 2050, a necessidade urgente de estancar a crise ambiental cada vez mais evidente, e a presente crise pandémica que o planeta atravessa, as propostas a apresentar pretendem ter presente a consciência ambiental, introduzindo objetivamente soluções sustentáveis, no âmbito da “economia verde”, atualmente disponíveis. Procuramos ter sempre presente o desafio de pensar a coabitação e as exigências sanitárias numa situação de pandemia como a que atualmente vivemos. Dessa forma, a “cidade-parque” que propomos poderá ser dotada de qualidades ambientais e sanitárias, que, de forma positiva, direta ou indiretamente, permitirão economizar recursos, proporcionando uma maior e melhor qualidade de vida, não só no aspeto coletivo como no individual quando pensamos os nossos espaços habitacionais. The Master’s Thesis presented here, integrated into the theme “Cape World 21 – A Post-Carbon and Post-Pandemia Park City”, is the result of a challenge launched by the Project Ateliê II-B, which led us to think about the city’s architecture and the way of habiting it Post-Carbon and Post-Pandemia, based on the place where the Matosinhos Refinery is located, in Leça da Palmeira.Hereafter, verifying the carbon neutrality until 2050, which aims to reduce the emission of greenhouse gases by 85% to 90%, the reuse of deactivated structures/facilities, which previously worked intending to refine fossil fuels, will be inevitable before built to refine fossil fuels.While dominating agents of the artistic and technical process that involves organized and creative spaces created to house different types of human activities, we are to carry out this exercise concerning the “voids” generated by the deactivation of these structures.Given the urban and landscape environment of the Matosinhos Refinery in Leça da Palmeira, it is urgent to reconvert this structure through an urban project, thought out and planned in a sustainable way for Man to live in the community.To be conscious of the structure and what is more advantageous, it will be studied and analyzed in detail. As, well as geographic, social, and economic contexts. With the aim of the solutions found to meet future daily needs.Three phases: class, group and, individual, are necessary to develop this work. These phases are crucial to managing the general ideas until the, particularly ideas and performed the final project.The proposals to present wanna be aware of environmental awareness, introducing sustainable solutions, within the scope of the “green economy” by thinking on goal carbon neutrality until 2050, the necessity of block the environmental crisis and, the present pandemic crisis that planet is living. We always try to keep in mind the challenge of thinking about cohabitation and health requirements in a pandemic situation like we are currently experiencing. In this way, the “park city” we propose may be endowed with environmental and sanitary qualities, which, positively, directly or indirectly, will save resources, providing a better quality of life, not only in the collective aspect but also in the individual when we think our living spaces.

The rationality and efficiency of the spatial structure of an urban park system are critical in building a livable urban environment. Fractal theory is currently treated as the frontier theory for exploring the law of complex systems; however, it has rarely been applied to urban park systems. This study applied the aggregation, grid and correlation dimension models of fractal theory in Fuzhou, China. The spatial structure and driving factors of the urban park system were analyzed and an innovative model was proposed. The evidence shows that the spatial structure of the park system has fractal characteristics, although self-organization and optimization have not yet been fully formed, revealing a multi-core nesting pattern. Moreover, the core is cluster of four popular parks with weakening adsorption, and the emerging Baima River Park is located at the geometric center, which is likely to be further developed. The system structure is primarily driven by geographical conditions, planning policies, and transportation networks. Against this backdrop, an innovative model for the park system was proposed. The central park has heterogeneity and synergistic development, relying on the kinds of flow which can lead to the formation of a park city, a variation of a garden city. At the regional scale, relying on the geographical lines, the formation of a regional park zone could be realized. These findings provide new perspectives to reveal the spatial structure of urban park systems. The information derived can assist policy makers and planners in formulating more scientific plans, and may contribute to building a balanced and efficient urban park system.

In the absence of national leadership on climate policy, municipalities are adopting resolutions to reduce their carbon footprint and transition to clean energy. However, what leads to successful adoption of these resolutions and how to effectively implement climate goals at the community level needs further exploration. To investigate these questions, this thesis examines the resolutions adopted in Salt Lake City, Park City, and Moab, Utah to transition to 100% renewable electricity by 2032. Data was collected through documents, such as city reports and newspapers, and interviews with government officials, city staff, and community members involved with the resolution process. A time series analysis and thematic analysis were used to determine casual events and identify fundamental themes within the data. Each city’s plan for resolution execution was compared to the approaches and techniques outlined in the community-based social marketing framework and the theory of diffusion of innovations. These findings deliver a transferable five-step framework to assist other cities in adopting similar resolutions and strategies to engage community members with practices that will help cities achieve these ambitious resolutions.

This Flood Insurance Study investigates the existence and severity of flood hazards in the City of Park City, Summit County, Utah, and aids in the administration of the National Flood Insurance Act of 1968 and the Flood Disaster Protection Act of 1973. This study has developed flood risk data for various areas of the community that will be used to establish actuarial flood insurance rates and assist the community in its efforts to promote sound flood plain management. Minimum flood plain management requirements for participation in the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) are set forth in the Code of Federal Regulations at 44 CFR, 60.3.

The purpose of this paper is to study the unemployment and reemployment experiences of displaced workers. Two mines were shut down in 1978 in Utah: the Park City Ventures Mine located in Park City and the Burgin Mine located in Eureka. Data were collected from questionnaires mailed to all the displaced workers of both mines and from personal interviews conducted with mine officials, officials of formal job-search agencies, and union representatives. The shutdown at Park City Ventures affected 350 workers, and the shutdown at the Burgin Mine affected 153. Both mines qualified for and were certified for Trade Readjustment Act benefits. The paper is divided into four major parts: personal characteristics, job-search activities, financial status and public assistance programs, and workers' subjective feelings, in that order.
