W XIII w. biskupi Dyrrachion (Dyrrachion) stanęli wobec wielu problemów politycznych i religijnych. Musieli również stawić czoło spowodowanej siłami natury katastrofy (trzęsienie ziemi i tsunami), jaka dotknęła miasto w 1271 r., potem porzucone przez biskupa Niketasa (Niketas) i zdobyte przez łacinników. Historyk Jerzy Pachymeres (Georgios Pachymeres) opisał przebieg kataklizmu i jego następstwa uwzględniając krytykę polityki kościelnej cesarza Michała VIII Paleologa (Michael VIII Paleologos). Z kolei dla św. Serapiona (Serapion) z dalekiej Rusi los mieszkańców Dyrrachion, podobnie jak pogranicznego Przemyśla był konsekwencją moralnego upadku wywołanego bliskimi kontaktami z łacinnikami. Mimo opinii o wpływie katolików w Dyrrachion poparcie cesarza z Konstantynopola zapewniało ochronę prawosławnej organizacji kościelnej w tej części zachodnich Bałkanów. In the 13th century, the bishops of Dyrrachion faced numerous political and religious problems. They also had to confront the natural disaster (earthquake and tsunami) that hit the city in 1271, subsequently abandoned by the bishop Niketas and conquered by the Latins. The historian Georgios Pachymeres described the course of the cataclysm and its aftermath, taking into account the criticism of the Church policy of Emperor Michael VIII Paleologos. In turn, for St. Serapion from distant Rus, the fate of the inhabitants of Dyrrachion, like the fate of the border town of Przemyśl, was a consequence of a moral decline caused by close contacts with Latins from Poland. Despite the opinion about the influence of Catholics in Dyrrachion, the support of the emperor from Constantinople ensured the protection of the Orthodox church organization in this part of the western Balkans.

Niniejszy artykuł podejmuje refleksję nad obrazem Italii i jej mieszkańców, wyłaniającym się z reportażu Terremoto Jarosława Mikołajewskiego poświęconego, jak sugeruje tytuł, trzęsieniom ziemi, które w latach 2016–2017 nawiedziły środkowe Włochy. Mikołajewski, w formie reportażu literackiego, nie tylko podejmuje próbę opisania krajobrazu po przejściu kataklizmu, lecz także, a może przede wszystkim, mierzy się z doświadczeniem, wobec którego język pozostaje bezradny, co znajduje swój wyraz w strukturze i kompozycji tekstu, w składni i rytmie zdań, a także w estetyce milczenia. Celem studium jest zatem zbadanie, o czym opowiada reportaż (a więc jakie aspekty trzęsień ziemi zostały poruszone w tekście, a następnie wykorzystane do otwarcia nowej perspektywy na „włoskość”), jak również w jaki sposób poeta‑reporter buduje swą opowieść, jak stara się wyrazić pustkę i nieobecność oraz jak ukazany został pogrzebany w gruzach świat po katastrofie. Analizie poddano styl narracji oraz poetykę tekstu, w szczególności zaś – elementy poetyki apofatycznej oraz metaforykę. Ponadto artykuł stanowi próbę odpowiedzi na pytanie, jak tragiczne w skutkach trzęsienia ziemi wpływają na życie i mentalność Włochów oraz w jakim stopniu owo doświadczenie może zyskać wymiar szerszy, ogólnoludzki, poprzez odwołanie do fundamentalnych wartości humanitarnych oraz do kultury antycznej, którą uznać można za fundament zjawiska „włoskości”. L’articolo prende in esame Terremoto di Jarosław Mikołajewski, sviluppando una riflessione sull’immagine dell’Italia e degli italiani che emerge da questo libro dedicato, come suggerisce il titolo, ai terremoti che negli anni 2016–2017 hanno colpito l’Italia Centrale. Mikołajewski, sotto forma di reportage narrativo, tenta non solo di descrivere il paesaggio dopo il cataclisma, ma anche e soprattutto, di affrontare un’esperienza rispetto alla quale il vocabolario esistente è inadeguato, il che si riflette nella struttura e composizione del testo, nella sintassi, nel ritmo delle frasi, oltre che nell’estetica del silenzio. Il presente studio si pone l’obiettivo di esaminare non solo cosa viene raccontato nel reportage (cioè, quali aspetti dei terremoti sono stati affrontati nel libro ed utilizzati per aprire un’altra prospettiva sull’italianità), ma anche come il “poeta‑reporter” costruisce il suo racconto, in quale modo cerca di esprimere il vuoto e l’assenza e come viene presentato il mondo dopo la catastrofe, tutto sepolto sotto le macerie. A tal proposito, nell’articolo vengono analizzati lo stile della narrazione e la poetica del testo, in particolare, gli elementi della poetica apofatica ed il linguaggio figurativo. Infine, lo scopo del saggio è anche quello di dimostrare come i terremoti incidano sulla vita e sulla mentalità degli italiani e in che misura questa esperienza può avere una dimensione più ampia e persino universale, attraverso il riferimento ai principi dell’umanità ed alla cultura antica, che può essere considerata una base del fenomeno dell’italianità.

Trzęsienie ziemi, które nawiedziło Zagrzeb w 1880 roku znacząco wpłynęło na dynamikę rozwoju miasta. Zmieniło Zagrzeb, zmieniło życie jego mieszkańców i radykalnie wpłynęło na karierę zawodową pewnego architekta, który dopiero rozpoczynał pracę w Chorwacji. Herman Bollé to architekt "obcy", którego cały dorobek pozostał w granicach Chorwacji (większość w Zagrzebiu) i w naturalny sposób stał się częścią dziedzictwa narodowego. Kształtował przestrzeń miejską i kształcił kolejne pokolenia, które miały wpływających na kształt chorwackiej przestrzeni miejskiej. Odbudował miasto, a właściwie uczestniczył w procesie kreowania miasta od nowa. The earthquake that struck Zagreb in 1880 has largely influenced the dynamics of the city's development. It has changed Zagreb, has changed the lives of its residents and has radically affected the professional career of an architect who at that time was at the beginning of his job in Croatia. Herman Bollé would be this "the other" architect whose entire output has remained within the borders of Croatia (mostly in Zagreb) and has become part of the national heritage. He has shaped the urban space and has educated new generations that has influenced the shape of the Croatian urban space. He has rebuilt the city, he has actually participated in the process of creating the city from scratch.

Among the rubbleAbstractTerremoto is a literary documentary devoted to earthquakes that have struck Italy in recentyears. The author mixes accounts from travels to places affected by the disaster, interviewswith experts on various aspects of the phenomenon and thought on cultural methods oftaming the constant threat. One of the main characters of the text is Luca Cari, a spokespersonfor Italian fire department and civil-protection services who accompanies the author in histravels Mikołajewski’s book is one of the very few Polish publications that do not replicatethe stereotypical view on the Italians.
