The subject of the bachelor's thesis is a summary of women's ice hockey from history to the present in the world and in our country. The main goal is therefore an overall analysis of the development of this sport, how women's hockey was created and developed, when it experienced the greatest boom and when, on the contrary, it declined. The secondary goal is to outline the development of the rules and summarize the current situation of women's hockey. In the beginning of the thesis, a brief description of this sport is given and the origin of hockey is described. Furthermore, the most famous women's hockey names are mentioned here, and at the end of the work, the differences between the rules of women's and men's ice hockey are defined. Head injuries are a major health concern for sport participants as 90% of emergency department visits for sport-related brain injuries are concussion related (Canadian Institute for Health Information, 2016). Recently, reports have shown a higher incidence of sport-related concussion in female athletes compared to males (Agel et al., 2007). Few studies have described the events by which concussions occur in women’s hockey (Delaney et al., 2014, Brainard et al., 2012; Wilcox et al., 2014), however a biomechanical analysis of the risk of concussion has not yet been conducted. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to identify the riskiest concussive events in elite women’s hockey and characterize these events through reconstructions to identify the associated levels of peak linear and angular acceleration and strain from finite element analysis. 44 head impact events were gathered from elite women’s hockey game video and analyzed for impact event, location and velocity. In total, 27 distinct events based on impact event, location and velocity were reconstructed using a hybrid III headform and various testing setups to obtain dynamic response and brain tissue response. A three-way Multivariate Analysis of Variance (MANOVA) was conducted to determine the influence of event, location and velocity. The results of this study show that head-to-ice impacts resulted in significantly higher responses compared to shoulder-to-head collisions and head-to boards impacts however, shoulder and boards impacts were more frequent. All events produced responses comparable to proposed concussion threshold values (Zhang et al., 2004). This research demonstrates the importance of considering the event, the impact characteristics, the magnitude of response, and the frequency of these impacts when attempting to capture the short and long term risks of brain trauma in women’s hockey.

Ice hockey is a sport like many others that has been dominated by men throughout history. This shows both when it comes to sporting conditions and what gets exposure in media. This essay studies four Swedish newspapers reporting on the Swedish men’s and women’s hockey teams during the Olympics 1998 and 2018. With the help of a quantitative content analysis it analyzes to which degree the reporting is gender equal and what the difference between 1998 and 2018 is. The result of the essay is more equal now than it was 20 years ago. Women’s hockey gets more exposure in the media, female players are being quoted in the articles to a greater extent and the language in the articles about women’s hockey are more similar to the articles about men’s hockey in 2018. Even though there has been a progression, there is still a long way to go to full equality in the reporting on ice hockey. There was still more than twice as many articles about men’s hockey than women’s hockey in the four analyzed newspapers in 2018 and men’s hockey is still the norm that women’s hockey is being compared to.

Так же в статье можно проследить географию расположения спортивных сооружений для хоккея с мячом. В заключении статьи изложены выводы по развитию хоккея с мячом на Дальнем Востоке в дореволюционный период., The paper presents a detailed description of the historical aspects of the development of a ball hockey in the Far East. The authors analyzed the pre-revolutionary period of the development of a ball hockey. Also the work considers the mass development of a ball hockey and the first hockey competitions among women in the Far East. Also you can trace the geography of the sports facilities for a ball hockey. The conclusion of the article presents the outlook of the development of a ball hockey in the Far East during the pre-revolutionary period.
