• New threats emerging with antitransgender and gender diverse legislation in many U.S. states. • Brief review of the sociopolitical climate, impact of the climate on TGD people, and challenges faced by mental health providers serving TGD clients. • Recommendations for supporting TGD clients in the current sociopolitical context and a call for advocacy. Despite efforts to improve the sociopolitical landscape for sexual and gender minorities, including legislation to ban sexual orientation and gender identity change efforts (SOGICE), new threats have arisen with a sharp increase in state legislatures enacting anti-TGD (transgender and gender diverse) legislation. Some of these laws and the accompanying hostile climate may prevent mental health providers from providing the best evidence-based care for their TGD clients. This paper briefly reviews the current sociopolitical climate, the impact of the climate on TGD people, and challenges faced by mental health providers serving TGD clients. We conclude with recommendations for supporting TGD clients in the current sociopolitical context and a call for advocacy to continue efforts to ban SOGICE and protect access to social, legal, and medical gender affirmation for youth and adults. This paper is devoted to exploring the linkages between livelihood assets, healthcare facilities and health well-being in Indo-Bangladesh international border adjacent location. To establish the linkages, Sustainable Livelihood Approach (SLA) has been adopted here. The study assumes that adjacency to the international border makes the location vulnerable. The study evaluates that lesser access to healthcare facilities in Border Adjacent Zone (BAZ) makes the people unable to cope with their poor health conditions. Even the livelihood asset is not at a satisfactory level by which the worse condition are to be overcome. Better health conditions and greater access to healthcare facilities make the households in Border Distant Zone (BDZ) enjoy sustainable health well-being that too with higher scores of livelihood assets. Families of children and youth with special health care needs (CYSHCN) can face challenges with regard to health and well-being. Health systems are designed to support CYSHCN but do not often consider the health and well-being of their family. Despite a growing body of literature, substantial gaps remain in our understanding of the impact of caregiving on family health and well-being and mechanisms of supporting families. In order to better understand and address these gaps, a national CYSHCN network developed a national research agenda to prioritize key areas of insufficient understanding of health and well-being for families of CYSHCN. Questions identified by the research agenda include: 1) How can family resiliency and adaptability be measured and improved? 2) How can we better assess family mental health needs and implement appropriate interventions? 3) What is the impact of family health on CYSHCN health outcomes? This paper describes a review of what is currently known regarding health for families of CYSHCN, gaps in the literature focused on the research agenda questions, and recommendations for future research. Based on the research agenda and current state of research for family health of CYSHCN, the authors recommend focusing on resiliency and adaptability as outcomes, using implementation science to address mental health concerns of family members and to further assess the impact of family health on health outcomes of CYSHCN. In addition, research should have a special focus on diverse populations of families and consider these questions in the context of different family structures. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose: This study was intended to integrate the evidence of home care service intervention for mothers and children in vulnerable groups through an integrative literature review. Methods: We searched the MEDLINE (PubMED), EMBASE, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, CINAHL, DBpia databases. The quality of the articles was assessed by one doctoral researcher and verified by one professor of community health nursing who had participated in the systematic review of literature. A framework was developed to identify the intervention patterns in the selected papers and categorize various elements. The extracted intervention elements were grouped into potential themes, which were verified by assessors on whether they clearly reflected the interventions in the papers. Results: Among 878 searched papers, we selected 16 papers after excluding literature that does not satisfy the selection criteria and quality evaluation. The intervention elements of 16 selected papers were categorized into six themes. The extracted intervention elements were divided into the themes of Patient-specific/Situation-specific care planning and intervention, Emphasis on self care competency, Intense home visit by developmental milestone, Reinforcing and modeling mother-child attachment, Communication and interaction across the intervention, Linkage with community resource and multidisciplinary approach. Conclusion: As a result of the analysis of proper interventions of home care services for mothers and children in vulnerable groups, it was found that it is necessary to consider indispensable intervention elements that can standardize the quality of home care services, and conduct studies on developing intervention programs based on the elements. Legal empowerment is increasingly recognized as a key approach for addressing socio-structural determinants of health and promoting the well-being and human rights of vulnerable populations. Legal empowerment seeks to increase people's capacity to understand and use the law. However, limited consensus remains on the effectiveness of legal empowerment interventions in optimizing health outcomes. Leveraging a meta-narrative approach, we synthesized literature describing how legal empowerment interventions have been operationalized and empirically studied with respect to health determinants. The studies included here document diverse legal empowerment approaches and highlight how interventions changed the context surrounding the health of vulnerable populations. The absence of robust conceptualization, operationalization, and measurement of the risk contexts in which legal empowerment approaches operate limits the clarity with which interventions' impact on health can be ascertained. Despite this, legal empowerment is a promising approach to address the health of marginalized populations. To foster support between the fields of legal empowerment and health, we explore the limitations in study design and measurement of the existing evidence base; such scrutiny could strengthen the rigor of future research. This paper provides a guide to the socio-structural levels across which legal empowerment interventions impact health outcomes in order to inform future interventions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The U.S.-México border is a dynamic region that is medically underserved, with vulnerable populations, living with pressing health and social conditions, high uninsured rates, high rates of migration, inequitable health conditions, and a high rate of poverty. The United States-México Border Health Commission was established to serve as a mechanism to assist in addressing the evolving health issues, among those residing in this large border region. One of the Commission's roles is to train and support promotores de salud' efforts, which enhances the quality of life of U.S.-México border residents. Promotores de salud (the U.S.-México term used for community health workers) have long worked as essential members in U.S.-México border communities, serving in diverse roles. Information shared here describes some key roles, as it pertains to promotores de salud as vital members in the provision of health information, support, and resources to community members along the U.S.-México border. The purpose of this paper is to share best practices on the various essential roles of promotores de salud, as identified by the U.S.-México Border Health Commission, in the U.S.-México border. These best practices help reinforce the purpose of promotores de saluds' work and support the need to continue developing these key individuals for the critical work they perform within their border communities. This paper explores the effect of the perceived risk of the Swedish people of Covid-19 on daily auctioned shrimp prices from the start of the pandemic to the end of the year 2021. This topic is of interest to see whether the government intervention in the shrimp market to aid fishers with possible losses was justified. The Swedish shrimp fishery was for a long time managed by Regulated Open Access, but in January 1, 2017, it was transformed to a Strong User Rights Fishery by the introduction of Individual Transferable Quotas (ITQs). We use empirical data from the period from 2018 to 2021. We find that auction prices were negatively affected by covid-19 cases by SEK 19.83/kg (−9.37%), and that fishers have suffered a loss of SEK 21.5 million. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The new pandemic of SARS-CoV-2 has shown stark differences in number of affected patients between countries in the tropics and those with temperate environments. Though there have been many theories on reasons for these differences, we hypothesise that this could be due to differences in the fate of respiratory droplets in the two environments. A simple understanding of the mechanics of droplet size, dispersion and displacement could help infection control and public health measures to minimize spread and mitigate the risk of people getting infected especially in hotspots like hospital environments or other closed spaces. This paper discusses the possibility of differences in number of infections and spread between different countries based on the spread of droplets. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

DIABETES in adolescence ,STRESS in adolescence ,AT-risk people ,LOGISTIC regression analysis - Abstract
Stress has been implicated to be a key mechanism linking early life adversity to later life health. However, few studies have examined how exposure to recent stressful life events during adolescence and adulthood relate to diabetes. This study examines the relationship between stressors in adolescence and adulthood and diabetes among a nationally representative, longitudinal sample of adolescents who participated in the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent Health (1994-2008). Results from logistic regression analyses showed that participants who reported recent stress exposures during transitions from childhood to adolescence and from adolescences to adulthood were more likely to have diabetes or at risk for diabetes (pre-diabetes). Implications of the findings are discussed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
