This article considers the impact of the book People's Law and State Law: the Bellagio Papers, edited by Anthony Allott and Gordon Woodman, published in 1985. It sets out why I consider this publication to be a seminal text in establishing and developing the field of legal pluralism, which had a great impact on both the development of the Journal of Legal Pluralism and on my own development as a young legal scholar. In looking beyond the text, I consider the ways in which scholars have engaged with the book's call for legal and social science to "work from a new map". In doing so I explore a recent arena of scholarship involving international intervention. The article highlights the important contribution that empirical studies can make to research on legal pluralism, by moving beyond the binaries of state and non-state actors, as well as through pursuing how scholars are adopting a more integrated and relational approach to law, one that may involve breaking down traditional disciplinary boundaries. In particular, I explore how concepts such as space and time contribute to a multi-dimensional, scalar perception of law at odds with a formalist, state-centred view of legal pluralism. This allows new insights to be generated into the operation of plural legal structures and constellations in which people operate allowing for a view of law that involves multiple networks of relations cutting across international, national and local boundaries. Based on experiences from multiple international research projects, spanning several decades and utilizing various forms of collaborative ethnographic approaches, this article aims to reflect on challenges and potentials regarding language and communication when researching across jurisdictions. Thematically, the research projects that we draw on in this paper, are concerned with aging and healthcare, while the primary focus of the paper remains on the methodological implications of conducting international, collaborative, and time-intensive ethnography. Moreover, the aim is to contribute to enhancing researchers’ awareness of and preparedness to meet and address such challenges in future research endeavors. The article discusses how English often serves as a lingua franca for Western-dominated international research collaborations, having implications for researchers and study participants alike, as well as the use of interpreters and potential linguistic pitfalls. In the article, we argue that attention and reflection on language and communication in research are significant for how collaboration in research transpires, the opted methodical choices, and, ultimately, for research quality, while often being under-appreciated. Ethnography as a discipline was formerly used by the colonizer to construct exotic notions of the cultures of the lands they occupied. In recent times, the discipline has entered new terrains through experimentations of various genres and modes of writing. A medical surgeon by profession, Kavery Nambisan, the author of The Scent of Pepper, accounts for the life of an ethnic tribal minority group-the Kodavas. The region painted in her canvas is Kodagu (Coorg), a small enclave in the hills of the south western coast of India. Her close acquaintance with the Kodava community to which she belongs, lends authenticity to her narrative. In chronicling the saga of the Kodavas, the text could also be seen as an attempt made by the novelist to preserve their ethnicity from the onslaught of westernization and migration. This paper purports to examine how the novelist borrows from the strategies of ethnography to effectively convey the cultural experiences and everyday lives of the Kodavas. It analyses how Nambisan has effectively merged the two different modes of narrative production- the scientific mode of narration with the fictional one. The paper further explores how the novelist/ethnographer shifts roles as insider/outsider offering subjective /objective perspectives to represent the ethnic minority of Kodagu. Purpose: The tutors or consultants working in university writing centers help students with their general assignments and academic writing. Very little attention has been paid to ethnographic-based research in this domain. This quasi-ethnographic paper aimed to fill this research gap by exploring: (a) the culture within which the writing consultants working for the writing services of an Eastern Ontario university provided their services to students, and (b) the discourse produced within that culture. Method: An ethnographic research design was adopted for this study. The sample comprised a diverse group of 11 consultants (four females and seven males). The data were collected through participant observations and semi-structured interviews. Findings: Employing social constructionism, activity, and social theory of genre, this research found that (a) collaboration, commitment, friendship, respect, and patience characterized the culture within which the writing consultants working for the university examined provided their services to students, and (b) academic and non-academic discourses were produced within that culture. Implications: The study is expected to benefit those who teach academic writing as it (a) illustrates the knowledge, ideas, customs, patterns of behavior, and beliefs that distinguish the group examined, and (b) identifies the nature of the discourse produced by that group. The value of the 'collective' nature of citizen science to wildlife monitoring, data collection and conservation is well established. However, one person's practice can also be valuable to citizen science projects and is often overlooked in the literature. This paper explores and critically evaluates one person's novel approach and contribution to Koala citizen science in Central Queensland and argues that her practice is doing much to advance knowledge on the identification of individual koalas and their condition as well as to promote Koala welfare and conservation. Employing an ethnographic method, the paper describes and evaluates Charley Geddes' practice of learning to identify individual koalas and create detailed and longitudinal records of their location, health and the threats that they and their habitats face. These records are kept on the public database BioCollect, run by the Atlas of Living Australia, and are used by Koala ecologists. Through this constructed portrait of citizen science practice, the paper also highlights the considerable threats faced by Koala populations in parts of Central Queensland, which have previously not been well documented. Tackling spatial inequalities needs to make sure that it improves the lives of people in rural and peripheral regions. Whilst local metrics and key indicators may be improved by measures implemented, this does not always translate to local people 'feeling' that development has improved their lives. Using ethnographic fieldwork and embodied and conversational research techniques, this paper adds to the place-based, evolutionary economic geography and resilience literature to develop the concept of the complex adaptive region assemblage, which draws on Deleuzian-based theory. I question whether this might be a lens to explore and better understand the measures that can be put in place in order to address the gap between regional development programmes, and the experiences of members of the public. The starting point was to explore the positionality of local people, and the paper finds that in the case studies (Cornwall UK and Southwest Virginia USA), systems put in place to revitalise these areas could be more effective if they pay attention to connecting spaces between local residents, and how they navigate their localities. • Place-based development needs to understand how local people experience rural regions. • Often, certain gaps make it more difficult for people to participate effectively in their regions. • Rural development needs to connect (missing) gaps in how people navigate place. • Viewing rural regions as complex adaptive assemblages helps to understand these gaps. In human history, rock art has been one of the most powerful means of communication, created and developed by early humans on rock surfaces. A global phenomenon, this important human creation has widely survived the vagaries of time. Rock art is also considered to constitute exograms, i.e. memory traces stored outside the human brain on the natural surface of rock. Therefore, it is an essential source for understanding the perceived reality of its authors, which can form the basis for comprehending and appreciating the cognitive, technological and cultural development of early humans through time and space. To achieve this goal, we need scientific study of the essential properties of rock art and understand the processes of its production, survival and damage, i.e. its preproduction processes, production processes and postproduction processes. The first two stages can be understood to some extent by the replication of rock art and the ethnographical study of the creative traditions of indigenous communities. In contrast, the third stage involves pure scientific pursuits of multiple disciplines, including the taphonomy of the site and rock art. The conceptual aspects of all these processes of rock art research are discussed in this paper, emphasising an Indian perspective. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In 2021, a "return" to fieldwork was highly anticipated by geographers. When I returned to the field this year, what I repeatedly found was nothing. In this paper, I reflect on my experiences of continually finding nothing, contending that this "significant nothingness" is going to dictate our worlds and scholarship for years to come. I argue that recognising the significance of nothingness is perhaps one of the greatest challenges, and questions, facing geographers of the near future. Thus, the aim of this forum paper is twofold: first, to reflect on a return to fieldwork during a still-ongoing pandemic; and, secondly, to explore the significant role of nothingness in the field. Most ethnographic research on architectural education focuses on formal teaching events. It mainly analyses meetings between students and teachers in tutorial sessions, design reviews, and formal presentations. Architectural knowledge, however, is also acquired informally between formal academic sessions. This study focuses on informal design-learning processes within formal architecture academic courses. Our data were collected during eight months of ethnographic study in an immersive masters-level architecture programme. We analysed our data using a macro-level inductive methodology and interpreted our findings using a sociomaterial theoretical approach. This paper offers two types of contributions. Theoretically, it contributes to our understating of informal learning processes in architectural education by demonstrating how different actor network compositions and dynamics affect informal learning. Pedagogically, it re-evaluates the role of the design instructor within a broader context of actors working together to produce knowledge and develops a network approach to design education. Tourism Studies cannot rely upon studies of tourism alone to cover its range. While the anthropology of tourism had once sustained a revival, disciplinary inertia suggests a renewal is again overdue and anthropology might justify a reconstruction. The possibilities of tourism as 'study' perhaps remain unfulfilled, despite significant antecedents in Malcolm Crick's work, where anthropology exactly glosses as travel plus study. This builds upon the desire to know worlds, to contribute to human togetherness across differences, economic disparity, languages, faiths, and political inclinations. Thus, calling for engagement with the political, postcolonial, and ontological concepts of anthropology, including multi-site 'fieldwork' methodologies, reanimates tourism studies via the critical idealism of study as priority for anthropologists, workers and tourists. Alongside questions of privilege, re-booting tourism studies through anthropology in the service of knowledge posits tourism as much more than study tours, finding out about heritage sites, or guides with stories to tell. Crick's credo of 'going to have a look for yourself' could be a rallying cry for participatory ethnography in tourism. In a more vulnerable world, anticipating future ethnographic work in Vietnam, the paper seeks insights and opportunities for a new engagement in the study of anthropology as tourism studies and tourism more widely. The present paper argues that Gloria Naylor's Mama Day (1988) embodies Black Feminist Autoethnography that critiques and commemorates her spectacular art of constructing culturalautonomy within the marginal sphere of Willow Springs, permitting the inhabitants, especially the women of the island, to shield their individual identities, as well as combat the hegemonic pseudo power-structure. By eliminating the conventions of white contemporary bureaus, and alternatively putting up rational sets of credence, ethics, and practices, the novel embellishes the rhetorical manufacturing of cultural-autonomy, ultimately encapsulating the ethical-cum-mythical undertakings of the Black America. This effectuation of their own ethical reservoirs by these resistive cultures eventually helps in defending their distinctiveness and autonomy, in order to give a substitutive formulation to their standpoints, as well as to provide the associates of the white hegemonic power structure with an insightful critical assessment of their own ethnicity. Further, the paper bluntly negates the conjecture of ethnographic convictions, and relentlessly confronts the colonizing supremacy of objectified fractional truths because objectivity as well as aloofness vis-a-vis the field setting ultimately results in a failure to gather any information and statistics worth examining, as offered through the prototypical narrative of Reema's Boy and George. Instead, using autoethnographic subjectification as an arsenal tool, the chapter contemplates over the magnitude of fabricating cultural-autonomy that empowers the quintessential women characters of Willow Springs, like Mama Day, Sapphira Wade, and Cocoa, to defy the etiquettes of an obsolete universalism, and to construct their distinct standpoints. The school subject home economics (HE) provides education on food, meals, and sustainability. Drawing on observations and interviews with eight Swedish HE teachers during 2018, this paper conceptualizes HE as an ambiguous perceived space between the conceived space of state-controlled learning goals and the lived space of a traditional Swedish, feminine, middle-class home. The subject's focus on cooking and housework lowered its status and marginalized it from the rest of the school. It seemed in constant threat of neglect and dissipation, which together with the chaotic nature of student cooking gave rise to a need for order and control. This extended to norms surrounding food, cooking, and eating that blurred the line between knowledge content and value judgments. Based on these findings, I suggest that HE is permeated not only by the social, ecological, and economic sustainability perspectives of the syllabus but also a fourth – cultural sustainability – which is not explicitly defined but rather underpins the subject in the form of a hidden curriculum. In the autumn of 2015 a large number of mainly Syrian refugees arrived in Sweden. They were unevenly distributed geographically by the authorities and smaller municipalities received proportionally larger numbers than others. The schools became central in the local reception processes. They faced difficulties but also possibilities, both pedagogical, organizational and in relation to social issues. Based on participant observation and interviews with staff in six rural schools in different rural areas from an ethnographic study, in this paper we explore experiences about how schools received the new refugees and how reception influenced teaching. The analyses indicate some changes in forms of teaching (e.g. sensitivity to language differences, more explicit structuring of tasks) that became permanent as they were considered beneficial to non-migrant students as well. In contrast, there were very few signs of changes in the content of teaching, which appears to have largely remained largely the same as before the refugees came. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this paper, I reflect on various ethical, practical and methodological challenges encountered in the field during my anthropological inquiry into the legacies of the Bosnian genocide at home and abroad. I focus on the importance of the researcher's honesty and self-reflexive engagement with the subject(s), particularly in sensitive contexts such as genocide. I discuss my experience of negotiating various social roles ascribed to me in the field, and how they shaped my research process. I also consider the methodological challenges of working with difficult stories of surviving the genocide and the absences of family members who perished in it. Drawing upon a mixed ethnography approach in combination with narrative inquiry and elements of participatory action research (PAR), I demonstrate complexities inherent in long-term ethnographic engagement with the community life that almost vanished. I reflexively engage with the question of how we maintain intellectual, emotional and ethical engagement with the subject of research without sacrificing our academic integrity or human connection embedded within these interactions? Subsequently, I argue for a supportive scholarly space that welcomes discussion about vulnerabilities, ambiguities and fears encountered in the ethnographic field and emerging subjectivities which further shape the final interpretation of cultures. How are devices changing our relationship with food? Do they help us to orient ourselves in a world where the production and circulation of commodities bring our certainties into question? In this paper I discuss food insecurity and develop on ethnographic research conducted in Tuscany (Italy) in a period running from 2016 to 2017. The aim of this research is to reflect on two aspects: first, the growing fear, insecurity and diffidence with regard to food in Italian society determined by the rise of global agribusiness, and the role devices play in mediating this relationship through self-tracking; and second, the analysis of these devices stemming from the idea of the orthorexic society, signs of which have been found in beliefs and policies regarding food throughout Italy for more than 30 years, often summarized in the famous Slow Food slogan "good, clean and fair." I studied how relationships with food are changing via the use of devices and digital technologies, and I assert that apparatuses and devices have become mediators between us and food. My research paints a picture in which people are produced as subjects through a series of devices that determine choices and behaviors, changing their perception of food. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper draws on recent doctoral research examining how students aged 12–14 make sense of the Holocaust during their history lessons on the topic. The research was ethnographically informed, and explored, through observing the 'real life situation' [Yin, Case Study Research, 2] of their history lessons, how students' ideas about the Holocaust developed over time. The author is a former history teacher, conducting an ethnographically informed study in classrooms which were not their own, which required transitioning from teacher to researcher. For the Sama-Bajau and Sama Banguingui women living in Manila, the traditional dance pansak (or igal) is a vital dimension of life. This paper focuses on Radzmina Tanjili, a Sama-Banguingui from Zamboanga, well-known in her barangay1 for her dancing. Her life as a dancer is filled with performance opportunities and cultural exchanges for her and the group of Sama-Bajau women and children who belong to the same NGO she volunteers for. She and the group perform for government, non-government organizations, and academic institutions. Apart from this, she also continues to dance pansak in its traditional improvised form at wedding ceremonies around Luzon. Underlying such creative and cultural pursuits, however, are the difficult realities she faces as a Muslim woman without a stable source of income living in a predominantly Catholic Christian city. This article takes a critical approach to dance studies and an engaged and collaborative approach in ethnography, which resulted in a creative project. It explores how to best articulate what it means for an indigenous Muslim minority group to be dancing their traditional dances in the predominantly Catholic and Tagalog-speaking city of Manila. The critical and engaged lenses are necessary to foreground the agency of the Sama Banguingui in their dancing, but at the same time draws attention to the complex position that they occupy and the realities they face as marginalized women belonging to the urban poor population. In this paper I bring together scholarship from the 'reparative turn' in the social sciences with the long tradition of critiquing schooling in the sociology of education. Most recently in this tradition, Ball and Collet-Sabé (2021) argue convincingly that the modern school is an 'intolerable institution' bound in its very epistemology to reproduce conditions of future uncertainty and inequity. I draw on Hong's (2014) framing of neoliberalism as a process of erasure and disavowal in order to link Ball and Collet-Sabé 's contention with the concept of reparative futures (Sriprakash et al. 2020). I do so through a consideration of my 2014–15 ethnography of Bronx High, a public high school in New York City. Through the story of seniors at Bronx High, I demonstrate how schooling is profoundly oriented towards particular anticipatory practices - namely, a modernist, neoliberal reckoning of the future that is both illusory in its promises and unsustainable in its ambitions. Bronx High exemplifies the deleterious impacts of living in a future-oriented present that appears wilfully detached from injustices of the past. However, this is not the whole story. The day-to-day actions of teachers and students reveal complex, multiple engagements with future-reckoning, including moments, often at the ambivalent margins of practice, where reparative futures-thinking offers a different way of engaging with the past, the present, and life after high school. • This paper explores reparative futures thinking for reimagining education beyond the modern school. • I explore this through my 2014–15 ethnography of a US public high school. • Through the story of seniors at Bronx High, I demonstrate how schooling is profoundly oriented towards particular anticipatory practices - namely, a modernist reckoning of the future. • However, the day-to-day actions reveal complexengagements with future-reckoning, including examples of reparative futures-thinking. Netnography is an ever-evolving qualitative digital research method that has been used and advanced by tourism researchers to understand a broad spectrum of topics. Developments such as artificial intelligence and emerging cultural phenomena offer new opportunities for tourism netnographers but require procedural adjustments. This paper updates, applies, and explains how contemporary netnographers collect digital traces and diverse user experiences while following and adapting the method's foundational steps, movements, and operations. Expanding the field of touristic inquiry using netnography to new sites, data, and experience types, balancing rigor and adaptability, emphasizing engagement, ethics, empathy, and immersion, and elaborating the interpretation of different data collection modalities, this paper provides a novel and cutting-edge guide for applying netnography in contemporary tourism research. • Netnography involves a set of rigorous guidelines with flexible procedures. • Technological and technocultural change demand methodological adaptability. • Netnography's scope has expanded to interactive and immersive data sites. • Contextualization and data-specific interpretation foster cultural understanding. • Active engagement, ethical considerations and researcher immersion are critical. Digital Ethnography evolved in the early 21st century as a qualitative interpretive method of ethnographic research (fieldwork) in an online space (Internet). Also known as Digital Anthropology, Virtual/Cyber Ethnography, Digital Social Research, Online Ethnography, or Ethnography, Digital Ethnography adapts the traditional, in-person ethnographic research techniques of anthropology to the study of online cultures and communities formed through computer-mediated communications. This paper explores the disruptive methodology of Digital Ethnography; how it changed our social-cultural attitudes about qualitative research; and why we need an innovative approach to inquiry in the 21st century social-media-driven information communication technology (ICT) environment. In contexts where social, political, and educational decisions are driven by globalisation, the sustainability and maintenance of rural communities at put at risk. Schools located in rural territories, through their educational practices in connection with the social and cultural context, can promote rootedness and favour sustainability. In this sense, the purpose of this article is to contribute to the knowledge about the role played by schools located in rural areas. Specifically, the aim of the study is to identify which educational practices take place based on the relationship with the context. This paper presents findings from an ongoing in-depth ethnographic study carried out in three small rural schools in the Aragón region of Spain. The study is conducted through semi-structured interviews that are complemented with informal conversations. The results show, on the one hand, that practices in relation to the environment are presented as a naturally occurring resource that facilitate the inclusion of values, traditions, and cultures within the curriculum. Additionally, on the other hand, that through these practices the value of place goes beyond the word ‘place’, encompassing within itself, the relationships and interactions established within the community. Thus, this study highlights the need for educational policies that make it possible to address the particularities of schools, through a flexible and open curriculum based on community opportunities and context-based learning. Alcohol addiction is a disease that engulfs not only addicts but also their significant others around them. The psychosocial and economic disruptions it can cause in the dependent family members' lives lay the study's background. The immediate and most significant persons facing the consequences are the spouses of addicts. They are labeled as an alcohol addict's spouse and attributed to be responsible for the addict's irresponsibility over his life and time. Al-Anon Family Groups are a Self-help model of group education for spouses and those who are affected by the alcoholism of an addict. This paper shares the results of an ethnographic study among two selected Al-Anon group meetings in Tamil Nadu, India. Al-Anon group meetings were chosen in concordance with strict adherence to anonymity. It was observed that the women participating in Al-Anon groups could develop confidence in dealing with their alcoholic husbands and select strategies to face their life situations resiliently. The study is relevant as significantly few structured programs are designed to care for the most critical caregivers of the addicts. The study calls for the attention of health givers, psychologists, social workers, and psychiatrists to the plight of alcoholics' wives. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The paper investigates the factory in the context of a multinational corporation. The historical-structural background for capturing the changes in the factory is both post-socialism and the conditions of neoliberalism. Drawing on conceptualizations from critical sociology, critical approaches to neoliberalism, and new working-class studies, the author focuses on how the structural transformation of socioeconomic conditions translates into the work in the factory and what implications this has for how workers and managers experience work and their own identities. Based on ethnographic research at the Baťa shoe factory, I identify a culture of precarious responsibility, which I characterize through four dimensions: management's disengagement from responsibility, workers' assumption of responsibility, the imposition of economization. A fundamental government initiative to change the living conditions of deinstitutionalized Brazilian people, the De Volta para Casa (Back Home) Program is formed by some elements, including the psychosocial rehabilitation financial aid. Thirty-four state and academic documents from ordinances to papers were gathered to identify which elements of the Program permeate the records and debates about it throughout the Brazilian Psychiatric Reform, converging with the studies of Juarez Pereira Furtado and Ligia Maria Vieira-da-Silva about the dynamics of scientific and bureaucratic fields, such as mental health. Furthermore, we ethnographed five events that gathered institutionalized people and other agents from this field. We noticed the remarkable presence of the Therapeutic Residential Services (SRT) as an element of the referred Program both in the records and the scientific debates, while the mentioned financial aid was highlighted mainly in the government records. With increasing pressure on public organizations to demonstrate accountability, police services and public universities are being tasked with demonstrating how their institutional strategies are effective and economically efficient. In this paper, we draw on our own research collaborations with two different Canadian police services (Bluewater and Greenfield) on a similar community crime prevention strategy, Situation Tables. We illustrate how new public management practices are embedded in the political, economic, and organizational contexts that have inspired police-academic partnerships and invigorated the evidence-based policing movement in Canada. Our analysis illustrates how our partnerships were influenced by the performance strand of new public management that prioritizes the quantification of measures of outputs over qualitative evaluations of impact. We argue that these practices, if not interrogated, can jeopardize the integrity of evidence-based practice and policy development. Academic freedom must be retained when partnering with the police to ensure an examination of the implications of police practices. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper uses an ethnographic approach and draws critical pedagogical and sociolinguistic insights from Pierre Bourdieu to explore Chinese college students' participation in an English Corner program at an elite language university in Shanghai. Accordingly, this paper promotes scholarly conversations about intercultural communication between Chinese college students and foreign teachers from English-speaking countries. By underpinning the concepts of intercultural capital, this paper analyzes these themes: (a) linguistic habitus and capital in the stratified field of elite language education; (b) articulating English proficiency; (c) bridging cultural distance and improving intercultural competence; and (d) personal growth and professional development. This paper critically interprets Chinese college students' benefits and mutual relationships with foreign faculty from English-Speaking Countries; how they cultivated intercultural capital in the field of elite education beyond linguistic capital, how they strove to maintain their accumulated capital to secure better career prospects, and what the roles of international faculty should be. This paper proposes a methodology for grounding agent-based social simulation in ethnographic data, using the example of crime research. The application of computational tools in crime research typically entails a removal of the "intelligible frame" of criminal behaviour and, hence, of meaningful evidence. Ethnography is a microscopic research tradition geared towards the preservation of contextualized meaning deemed essential for the exploration of the variety of prospective alternative scenarios and, hence, of plausible futures. On the basis of exemplary empirical material from a qualitative study on the transit trade of cocaine in the Netherlands, this paper looks into the complementarity and potential integration of the research traditions of ethnography and agent-based modelling. That is to say, it explores the compatibility of the formal languages of both these domains and the mutual benefit of "stitching together" these at first sight very different methods. The ethnographic approach to social simulation specifies the what-if relations of traditional/conventional ABM modelling into condition-action sequences. As we contend, it is exactly this more microscopic level of condition-action sequences that is needed to facilitate "thick description" and, in turn, enable the grounding of ABM in meaningful evidence. • ABM and ethnography show compatibility in their formal languages and aptitude for emergence-based explorations of alternative scenarios. • Ethnographic social simulation integrates ABM and ethnography and combines thick description with in silico experimentation. • It is a promising new methodology for generating meaningful evidence for reflecting upon plausible prospective futures of complex social worlds. This article investigates possible pathways of habitus change by informal tourism entrepreneurs in Thailand. Bourdieu's concept of habitus is depicted as a person's understanding of the world. Do people adapt their worldview in response to only external stimuli? Through ethnographic fieldwork including participant observations and active semi-structured interviews with 53 participants, this paper identifies a classification of four modes of habitus adaptation: (1) Understanding and appreciating the field and its conditions, (2) Challenging core beliefs systems, (3) Applying a practical sense to 'objective possibilities', and, (4) Challenging non-reflective dispositions.
