"My presence at the museum and the exhibitions and events we've done have been impactful for our students who feel a sense of ownership and pride over what they see when they come into the museum", says Powell. Also, on a recent trip, she gave a talk at the Heard Museum in Phoenix and also researched an upcoming show on photographer Cara Romero, of whose work Powell is planning a solo exhibition in 2025. Over the past few years Powell's research has focused on exhibition work, including the Form and Relation show, which featured the work of six contemporary indigenous ceramic artists.
