Accurate photovoltaic power prediction is crucial for optimizing the performance of photovoltaic power plants and ensuring the stability of the power grid. However, existing forecasting methods are challenged when predicting the power output of multiple plants with different geographical locations and environmental conditions simultaneously, due to the complexity of the underlying factors that affect power generation. To address this issue, this paper proposes a novel LightGBM-XGBoost photovoltaic power prediction model based on a pre-training and fine-tuning paradigm. The model leverages a large dataset to pre-train and learn rich feature representations within meteorological elements, which are then fine-tuned on specific downstream tasks to improve prediction accuracy and generalization ability. Experimental verification is conducted using data from three photovoltaic generators operating in Guangdong, China. Results demonstrate that the proposed model outperforms other methods when predicting the power output of multiple plants with different conditions simultaneously, highlighting the effectiveness of the proposed approach. Overall, this work contributes to advancing the state-of-the-art in photovoltaic power prediction and has practical implications for improving the control and scheduling of photovoltaic power plants, as well as ensuring the stability and security of the power grid. Food taste should be considered in-place. This paper employs a regional analytical framework that is suggested by new regional geography to analyze relations between taste and place, and broadly, people and cuisine. We problematize fixed links between place and taste by asking how tastes are developed as rooted qualities of a place and its cuisine. Focusing on spicy taste as a cultural construct in China's context, climate and landscape characteristics, geographical proximity, and inhabitants' collective engagement are examined and identified as three factors that co-influence the construct of spicy taste, which we see as a vital shaper of the cuisine of Nanxiong in the mountainous north of China's southern Guangdong Province. We build a spatial regional hierarchy centered on spicy taste and find a correct and meaningful scale – the region of Guangdong Province. In highlighting the importance of considering the flavor principle in place, we call for more efforts to adopt a regional perspective in exploring multi-scalar and place-bounded food and taste issues. With the economic globalization, the development of Chinese enterprises and employees' demand for leadership performance of leaders is constantly changing. And the leadership of female leaders or female characteristics has been gradually proved to be more in line with the future development of the enterprise. Due to the continuous growth of the number of female leaders and the continuous recognition of their leadership abilities, it is also important to study the leadership traits of female leaders or the changes in leadership traits brought about by the changes in their personal attributes. The research object of this paper is the female leaders of the Internet promotion service industry in Guangdong Province, China. Independent-Samples T-Test and One-Way ANOVA in the SPSS software are used to analyze whether the personal attributes of female leaders have an impact on the performance of leadership traits, and which traits are affected. The results show that 4 of the 8 personal attributes studied in this paper have an impact on the performance of leadership traits, and 14 of the 34 leadership traits studied are affected by different personal attributes of female leaders. This research can provide a reference for organizations to formulate relevant policies, optimize the structure of managemnet and give female leaders the opportunity to fully demonstrate their strengths. In addition, female staff should be treated more fairly in human resources recruitment and promotion. Nasopharyngeal carcinoma is one of the most prevalent malignant tumors in Guangdong, China. In the field of medicine, predicting the recurrence of early-stage nasopharyngeal carcinoma after radiotherapy holds significant importance. Our objective was to develop a novel classification model aimed at predicting recurrence following radiotherapy for early nasopharyngeal carcinoma. This paper introduces an innovative approach by combining unsupervised diagnostic feature learning (biclustering algorithm) with Adaboost ensemble learning to create a novel classification model. Notably, the nasopharyngeal carcinoma dataset underwent biclustering algorithm application for the first time. Initially, the Borderline-SMOTE oversampling algorithm was employed to address the dataset's imbalance issue. Subsequently, the biclustering algorithm, which is based on an improved multi-objective genetic algorithm (NSGA-II), was utilized to seek bicluster outcomes exhibiting consistent representation patterns. The attributes of these bicluster outcomes were assessed and employed as diagnostic rules for constructing weak classifiers. Ultimately, the Adaboost ensemble learning technique was employed to amalgamate the weak classifiers into a robust classifier. Following the application of 10-fold cross-validation, the model exhibited an accuracy of 80.33%, sensitivity of 79.55%, specificity of 80.43%, and GMean of 79.99%, accompanied by an AUC value of 0.904. The presented classification model outperformed alternative classification models in terms of classification accuracy and generalization when applied to the nasopharyngeal carcinoma dataset. Significant attention has been given to the issue of CO 2 emissions worldwide, especially for China as the largest emitter. Cities, as the main carriers of China's economic development, account for up to 85 % of CO 2 emissions from energy use in the country. The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) and surrounding cities play important leading roles in low-carbon development. However, compiling city-level CO 2 emissions is challenging due to the limited availability of data. In this paper, a new idea is proposed by using SSA-BP for estimating provincial-level CO 2 emissions and downscaling provincial-level CO 2 emissions to city-level CO 2 emissions by reconstructing missing values of city-level CO 2 emissions with an autoencoder. This study compiles a city-level CO 2 emissions inventory and conducts a spatio-temporal analysis of CO 2 emissions in the GBA and surrounding cities. The results show that CO 2 emissions exhibit a spatial distribution pattern with spatial dependence. Furthermore, according to the analysis of spatio-temporal heterogeneity, GDP influenced CO 2 emissions the most within the five influencing factors, and the influences of GDP, population, and energy intensity were mainly positive, while the influence of patents was mainly negative, and that of trade was both positive and negative. Evaluating the rural population hollowing (RPH) caused by the massive out-migration of rural laborers is essential for China's rural land use policy formulation and rural revitalization. Existing studies mainly assessed the RPH based on survey data or statistical data. The former is mainly based on selected local villages and towns, and cannot be replicated on a large scale, while the latter is usually at the county or city scale and cannot reveal the cyclical migration of rural labors at fine spatial resolutions such as townships. To fill this gap, this paper proposed a social media data based-rural population hollowing (SM-RPH) index, which was calculated by Tencent User Density big data on holidays and non-holidays and was used to characterize the "migratory bird" process of rural laborers. Taking Guangdong Province, China as the case, this study employed the proposed novel index to evaluate the RPH at the county and township scales. This was integrated with a GWR model to explore how the important contributing factors of RPH vary across the province. The results showed a trend of transition from the cold spot areas in the core regions of PRD to the hot spot areas around the PRD. Additionally, this study revealed that distance to the nearest prefecture-level city, total nighttime lighting per capita, fiscal expenditure per unit of GDP and road network density were dominant factors in affecting rural population hollowing, and the influence of these four variables vary considerably throughout the province. Further, k-means cluster was used to group the hollowing towns according to the local coefficients of the influencing factors, and policy zoning was suggested to provide differentiated countermeasures and suggestions for rural revitalization. As the population and industries continue to gather in cities, such cities face acute shocks caused by various natural disasters and high pressure caused by human interference. The means of accurately assessing and improving the level of urban resilience (UR) to cope with disturbances and shocks, enhance regional resilience, and improve sustainable urban development has become a hot topic. In this study, we constructed an UR assessment framework using "social-economic-institutional-ecological-engineering" to explore the dynamic evolution of spatial and temporal patterns in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) of China, to reveal the main factors influencing the evolution of this spatial pattern and the strength and interaction mechanisms among such influencing factors and to dynamically simulate the spatial and temporal evolution characteristics in the next 16 years. The results show that from 2000 to 2019, the difference in UR level in the GBA is obvious. Hong Kong and Macao are obviously ahead of other cities, and the comprehensive resilience level of Guangzhou and Shenzhen cities in the mainland is developing rapidly. The difference in per capita consumption capacity, industrial structure optimization, foreign trade vitality, infrastructure support and other factors are the main causes of the spatial differentiation of UR in the GBA. In the future, the UR level of the GBA urban agglomeration will show an overall upwards trend. The three development poles of Guangzhou-Foshan, Shenzhen-Hong Kong, and Zhuhai-Macao have obvious advantages in spatial distribution. In this paper, the typical 10-lane highway in the reconstruction and expansion project is taken as an example to clarify the noise propagation and distribution characteristics of ultra-wide cross section. With the aid of the highway noise prediction model based on the acoustic environment guidelines and field measurements, the noise propagation and distribution characteristics under ultra-wide cross section were summarized through visualized noise maps and quantitative data analysis. The results show that for the highway with ultra-wide cross section, reducing the speed of small vehicles can improve noise reduction in the horizontal direction by about 1 dB(A) than reducing the speed of large and medium-sized vehicles. In addition, the noise reduction effect of all floors can be improved by 0.2–0.9 dB(A) in the vertical direction, which proves that the noise reduction effect is more obvious by reducing the speed of small vehicles. Besides, the noise sound pressure level variation range on low-rise floors increases more significantly with increased traffic volume than high-rise floors. The variation between different building floors is also similar to the increase in traffic volume in the vertical direction. The global economy is embracing more international collaboration as technology and communication have linked countries and made the world smaller. Business and government collaborations are not alone, institutions of higher education around the world have also moving closer to each other through varied cooperative programs. Some institutions of higher education are experimenting with new approaches to learning and teaching through a technology enhanced delivery method. This paper offers an outcome assessment of a new method of an experimental/experiential pilot study where students from a university in Guangdong, China have created a small learning community and learned via WebEx technology varied topics in entrepreneurship including finance, management, and marketing. Facilitated by two faculty members from a private university in Southern California and a faculty member in Guangdong province, students were able to create a business plan, get a starting capital, started a small business, sold varied cosmetics ' products, and made some money. The paper concluded that border-less cooperation coordinated through a web technology based delivery method helped make education relevant to students' understanding of the subject of entrepreneurship as well as helped motivated them to succeed as the U.S. faculty shared their entrepreneurial knowledge. Based on quantitative analysis of the results coupled with students' testimonials, the paper suggests that this border-less experiential learning collaboration has positive outcomes to students. The citizenization of peasant migrants is key to understanding China's long-term urban-rural imbalance and ongoing rural transformations. The majority of existing literature focused on structural/institutional or agentive/subjective factors, while an integrated perspective examining both structural and agentive factors related to the citizenization process is rarely seen. Borrowing theories from the strategic-relational approach, this paper unfolds the matching and mismatching mechanisms between the policy design and peasant migrants' intentions of citizenization. Drawing on a case study in China's Guangdong Province, this study finds that: (1) citizenization policies prefer to offer citizenship to the new generation of peasant migrants, which matches the age structure of peasant migrants; (2) although municipal governments are prone to attract young peasant migrants with high educational level and strong competitiveness, peasant migrants generally have a relatively low educational level and weak professional training; (3) the high threshold of citizenization in mega-metropolitan and metropolitan cities mismatches peasant migrants' preference towards the first-tier cities. This paper describes the matching and mismatching mechanisms between structure and agency associated with the citizenization of peasant migrants. The policy reflections proposed by this study point towards enhancing nearby urbanization and in situ urbanization, so as to increase the attraction of young peasant migrants by ordinary cities. As the primary source sector of carbon emissions, the power industry's green innovation is an indispensable component of China's low-carbon transformation. This paper took China's Carbon Emission Trading Scheme as a quasi-natural experience and adopted the synthetic control method to evaluate the impact of Carbon Emission Trading Scheme pilot policy on power industry's green innovation based on the provincial industrial level data. Furthermore, this paper examined the impact mechanisms of Carbon Emission Trading Scheme on the power industry's green innovation through policy comparison, moderating and mediating effect analyses. The research findings show that: 1) there is heterogeneity in Carbon Emission Trading Scheme's effectiveness in inducing green innovation in China, the power industry only in Beijing and Guangdong has been significantly promoted, while other pilots have not; 2) the success of Beijing and Guangdong can be attributed to distinctive features of their carbon market and power industry, including the refined quota accounting mechanism, the application of paid quota allocation, the larger enterprise scale and more research and development investment; 3) enterprise scale and research and development investment have positive moderating effect and mediating effect in the promotional effect of the Carbon Emission Trading Scheme on green innovation respectively. Using the available information and a standard econometric approach analyzing the time series dataset, this study identifies the interactions between electricity, fossil fuel and carbon market prices in Guangdong, China. The result confirms a long running co-integration between carbon market prices and the prices of coal, diesel and liquid natural gas (LNG). Conversely, fossil fuel prices have no impact on the short term dynamics of carbon prices. The price of electricity on the monthly forward market in Guangdong is significantly and positively associated with the first difference of the price of coal, but has no significant relationship with the first differences of carbon, diesel and LNG prices. This analysis provides certain implications for ongoing power sector reform and nationwide carbon market development in China. The liberalization of the power industry should be further advanced to create conditions for carbon cost pass-through on to the electricity market. Meanwhile, the national emissions trading scheme (ETS) should apply simpler and stricter benchmarks to allocate emissions allowances for the power sector. Fewer categories of benchmarks promote competition among different types of power generators and a shift to an electricity supply portfolio with lower carbon intensity. Stricter benchmarks create more demand for emissions allowances and result in higher carbon market prices. Stakeholder engagement is critical to the successful formulation and implementation of environmental policies. Text analysis can serve as an important means to decipher stakeholder (dis)agreements. Traditionally, researchers analyze texts using qualitative text analysis. Relying only on qualitative text analysis can no longer be sufficient to handle very large amounts of textual data. Now computational methods can be applied to help extract opinions in electronic texts. Our paper adopts a big data computational text analysis approach (keyword analysis, keyword co-occurrence, thematic analysis), based on a corpus of 2.4 million words, to compare concerns towards air pollution among three stakeholder groups (i.e. the government (GOV), the environmental groups (NGO) and the news media (MEDIA)) in Hong Kong, between 2002 and 2012, a period when air pollution was subject to rigorous policy debates and discussions. Our analysis shows the somewhat different concerns of the stakeholders. The stakeholders focus heavily on emissions and end-of-pipe pollution control. Though the advocation of sustainability since 1990s, the government-led command-and-control approach still dictates the discourse. Sustainability is featured more intensively by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government. Transboundary pollution (e.g. from Guangdong, China) is not a major concern for all stakeholder groups. Public health is a greater concern in MEDIA, as compared to the other two stakeholder groups. Future air pollution policy-making may direct more of its attention to the pressing concerns over the negative impacts of air pollution on health and its associated costs, with health experts getting more closely involved in the regulatory decision-makings. More information should be given to vulnerable groups, such as young children or workers in polluted environments. To better relate differential health risks of pollution in everyday life, both local and international governments should consider developing more personalized air pollution monitoring and health management systems for their citizens in future. In theory, replacing workers with robots in dangerous working environments can protect workers' safety. Therefore, a higher frequency of occupational injuries (OIs) may force more industrial robot applications (IRAs). Based on panel data from cities in Guangdong Province from 2003 to 2015, this paper uses a fixed effects panel Tobit model to test the impact of OIs on IRAs. Considering the possibility of a reverse causal relationship between IRAs and OIs, we also use the number of urban cultural academies as an instrumental variable to overcome the endogeneity problem. This study shows that more frequent OIs force more IRAs. The government's industrial policies promote industrial intellectualization but also weaken the promotion effect of OIs on IRAs to a certain extent. The mechanism analysis shows that the heavy burden of public medical expenditure is an important mechanism of OIs forcing IRAs. • Couples of multiparameter screening and compositional simulation are useful for site optimization for CO 2 -EOR and storage. • Miscible CO 2 flooding with one or two injection wells are the best operation for M10 reservoir. • Well pattern and bottom pressures of CO 2 injection control the mechanism and efficiency of CO 2 flooding. • HZ21-1 field has considerable potential for applying offshore CO 2 -EOR and CO 2 storage technology of Guangdong CCUS project. CO 2 -enhanced oil recovery (CO 2 -EOR) and storage is currently the most effective and economic technology for reducing CO 2 emissions from burning fossil fuels in large scale. This paper is the first effort of proposing a modelling assessment of CO 2 -EOR and storage in the HZ2-1 oilfield in the Pearl River Mouth Basin in northern South China Sea offshore Guangdong Province. We attempt to couple the multi-parameter dimensionless quick screening model and reservoir compositional simulation for optimization of site screen and injection simulation. Through the quick screening, the reservoirs are ranked by EOR dimensionless recovery R D , and by CO 2 storage in pore volume S CO2. Our results indicate that S CO2 is highly pressure dependent and not directly related to R D. Of these reservoirs, CO 2 -EOR and storage potential of the M10 was estimated through a compositional simulation as a case study based on a 3D geological model. Nine scenarios of CO 2 injection operations have been simulated for 20 years with different well patterns and injection pressures. The simulation results represent an obvious improvement in oil production by CO 2 flooding over No−CO 2 production. The best operation for M10 is miscible CO 2 flooding, which led to the higher recovery factors of 52%˜58% and CO 2 stored masses of 8.1×106˜10.8×106t. The optimum operation for CO 2 injection should be set well pattern in region of injector I1 and high injection pressure for miscible flooding. In a whole, the HZ21-1 field can be used as a candidate geological site for GDCCUS project. We are fully aware of the limitation in the primary modelling including reservoir and fluid properties and production history matching, and regard this study as a general and hypothetic proposal. There is increasing concern about phenolic environmental estrogens (PEEs) in river systems, especially in economically developed regions, because of their potential to impact ecological systems. We studied the distribution of, ecological risks from, and factors that influenced PEEs in the sediments from the Duliujian River in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Urban Agglomeration and the Pearl River in Guangdong Province in China. The three target PEEs, nonyl phenol (4-NP), octyl phenol (4-t-OP), and bisphenol A (BPA), were detected in the sediments at concentrations ranging from 204.4 to 12604.3, 32.6 to 297.3, and from 12.8 to 298.4 ng g−1 in the Pearl River, and from 153.5 to 3614.9, 90.7 to 990.0, and 83.5–913.3 ng g−1 in the Duliujian River, respectively. The PEE concentrations were significantly and positively correlated with total organic carbon in the river sediments (p < 0.1). Urbanization influenced the distribution of PEEs and applications and discharges of PEEs were associated with large populations and industries. Rainfall and wastewater discharge patterns also influenced how PEEs were distributed in river sediments. The potential ecological risks from 4-NP, 4-t-OP, and BPA in these two rivers were high. Measures should be put in place to control the transport and storage of these compounds in river systems. China, as the world's largest emitter of carbon emissions, has implemented carbon markets to reduce carbon emissions, but the economic feasibility of integrating electric vehicles (EVs) into these markets remains uncertain. To address this challenge, we propose a novel methodology for grid integration of EVs based on the Shenzhen carbon inclusive management measures. Our proposed methodology can optimize EV charging schedules based on carbon emission prices and improve the economic feasibility of low-carbon transitions through EVs in China. We incorporate the Black-Scholes model to measure carbon emission option pricing and develop an optimal bidding strategy that considers spatiotemporal uncertainties of EVs and electricity markets. We use numerical simulations with real-world data from Shenzhen carbon emission market and Guangdong electricity market to demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed methodology. Results reveal that scheduling 100 EVs' charging/discharging behavior properly can generate a revenue of 2379.4 yuan for the distribution system operator, while the revenue for carbon emission reduction (CER) is only 9.35 yuan. This paper demonstrates that the potential revenue of CER may be substantially based on the future scenario for the carbon emission market. This paper uses panel data from 2017 to 2019 in Yangshan County, Guangdong Province, to assess the impact of land titling on farmers' political trust. The results of a generalized difference-in-differences model suggest that land titling increases farmers' subjective trust in the local village council and reduces the probability of conflict with the local village council. We found that the mechanism by which land titling affects farmers' political trust is the stability of land rights. Furthermore, regulated procedural implementation can strengthen the impact of land titling on political trust. Additionally, we unexpectedly found that land titling positively impacts the relationship between villagers and cadres, and collective action participation, in addition to influencing farmers' political trust. ● The impact of land titling on farmers' political trust has a striking time-lag feature. ● Land titling affects farmers' political trust through property rights and interests security ● A standardized implementation procedure is a condition for land titling to increase farmers' political trust. ● Land titling also has a positive impact on cadre relations and collective action. Strategic regional planning is an important step towards a successful CCUS development. This paper is the first effort of proposing a development plan of offshore CO 2 storage and transport for Guangdong in 2030 and 2050. We attempt to make an ambitious and achievable plan. The cluster-hub model of sources and sinks is adopted, and reuse of existing infrastructures is preferred. The targets of CCUS in Guangdong by 2050 are approximately 8% of the CCS targets that proposed for entire China (ADB, 2015), except a smaller target of 2050. The dual-phase and dual-track approach of ADB’s roadmap is followed. The CCUS phase I before 2030 is characterized by the capture of high-purity CO 2 from petrochemical industry and the storage of CO 2 mainly related to CO 2 -EOR. The target of ∼3 Mtpa CCUS in 2030 will be achieved by source-sink match A1. The phase II from 2030 to 2050 is characterized by a wider deployment of CCUS. The target of CCUS in Guangdong is ∼35 Mtpa in 2040 and ∼110 Mtpa in 2050, leading to the cumulative CO 2 avoidance of ∼187 MtCO 2 for 2031–2040 and ∼730 MtCO 2 for 2041–2050. Four source-sink matches are proposed for this phase, including the storage clusters in the Pearl River Mouth Basin and in the Beibuwan Basin in the northern South China Sea. Research with sufficient lead time to support the phased CCUS development is proposed, including databases, feasibility studies, technique R&D, cost estimation, and optimized system design. The land integration and titling policy (LITP) is a grassroots innovation for implementing a top-down land titling policy (LTP) that has critical institutional economic implications. Although the LITP can increase land economies of scale, institutional costs and practical constraints also exist. Specifically, land heterogeneity and fragmentation directly restrict the LITP. This paper uses survey data from 1507 farmers in Yangshan, Guangdong, in 2017 and a logistic semiparametric model to conduct an empirical analysis. The results show that the heterogeneity of geological fertility, irrigation facilities, and farmland rent have a significant negative effect on implementation of the LITP, with geological fertility heterogeneity having the most significant effect. Villages with hilly and mountainous terrain have more difficulty implementing the LITP. The degree of land fragmentation within the land heterogeneity factor significantly inhibits the LITP. Roads for cultivation machines and irrigation facilities significantly promote the implementation of the LITP, and moreover, cultivation-machine roads effectively eliminate the inhibiting effect of land fragmentation on the LITP. The LITP has its own system space, and a good institution always needs an institutional device for smooth promotion. Heterogeneity and the fragmentation of land are hard constraints for integration and titling, but they can be resolved through agricultural production infrastructure. Since 2008, the urban redevelopment in China has entered a new era mainly characterised by the new redevelopment model proposed and practised in Guangdong province. In the new wave of urban redevelopment towards a more inclusive type of governance, the roles of various agents or stakeholders in the decision-making processes have changed correspondingly. Building upon Healey and Barrett's structure and agency approach in the land and property development process, this paper develops an analytical framework specifically to explore the decision-making processes and mechanisms in this urban redevelopment experiment conducted in China. The empirical basis of this paper is a pioneer city in urban redevelopment within Guangdong province, Shenzhen. Through exploring the redevelopment trajectory of a local collective-owned factory, the roles played by different stakeholders at each stage of the redevelopment process are clarified. Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to analyze the impact of organizational features and context variables on the proneness of University-Industry cooperation (UIC) in the R&D and engineering process. Using survey data of manufacturing enterprises in Guangdong province of China, the paper shows that the probability of cooperation with university significantly depends on various organizational factors including firm size and enterprise absorptive capacity. In addition, the actually pay tax the collection of business-to-market and technical information, and market position are also important driving factors to the engineering research cooperation between enterprises and universities, but their influences vary with the type of product innovation and process innovation. Abstract: Because of climate change and the popularity of air travel, the issue of low-carbon economy of air transportation industry is no longer ignorable. However, there is no standard measurable indicator to evaluate low-carbon economy, especially for air transportation industry. To fill in the blank of this area, this paper firstly discusses general indicators of low-carbon economy for air transportation industry. Secondly, it explores measurable indicators to assess the level of low-carbon aviation based on generally published data. Finally, it takes Shenzhen aviation as a case to discuss the evaluation of its low-carbon economy with the established measurable indicators. This paper not only provides indicators for low-carbon economy of air transportation with practical measurement effectiveness, but also opens up a new direction for the study of low-carbon air transportation. Abstract: Making new coal-fired power plants carbon capture ready (Carbon Capture Ready) in China has been recognised as a crucial by a number of stakeholders academics, energy companies and regional government, based on a study in EU-UK-China NZEC project. A number of publications have investigated the definition, engineering requirements, economic and finance of CCR for China. However there remain a number of questions regarding the extent to which a plant’s physical location might constrain the feasibility of CCS retrofit. To address this issue, a Geographical Information System (GIS) has been used as a tool for mapping current and planned large carbon dioxide sources in Guangdong, also illustrating potential storage sites and calculating possible carbon dioxide transportation route. This paper investigates the location factors that should be considered when locating new build CCR power plants and demonstrates the methodology of using GIS software with spatial analysis in planning new build power plant in Guangdong. A preliminary study has identified over 30 large power plants within the region, with plant locations and historical emission data collected and presented in ArcGIS. Factors such as distance to potential storage site, route of CO2 pipeline, extra space on site and potential development plan etc. were investigated in the modelling and calculated the potential source and sink solution. The study then moves on to suggest possible new build plant locations which can be easily fitted in to the current network, based on economic optimisation. The scope for future coal plant development combined with a possible nuclear plant siting plan is discussed towards the end of the paper. Guangdong province, which owns the third largest coal-fired power installed capacity out of 31 provinces, generated over 8% of China’s total electricity every year for the past 15 years. CO2 storage opportunities could be found in the surrounding South China Sea, where Guangdong has a total of 4,300 km of coastline and some small scale oil fields on shore within the region. It is also among the first places to start the national open and reform policy in China. The province is one of the richest in China, with the highest GDP among all other provinces since 1989, and the foreign trade accounts for more than a quarter of China’s total amount. It also contributes around 12 of the total national economic output. Currently, the provincial government is proposing a low carbon roadmap, which is the first of its kind in China. The work has created a totally new thinking on capture ready power plant planning. This differs from existing studies (e.g., which aim to investigate the existing carbon dioxide emission sources at specified location and provide source and sink matching analysis. Instead the study focuses on policy implementation for new build capture ready power plants. Three clusters within Guangdong province are identified as potential temporary CO2 storage hubs before transporting the gas to a long term storage site. When officials are planning new power plant locations from a capture ready perspective, the plants should not necessarily be close to storage sites in straight line, but rather should be within a reasonable distance of a cluster. Transport of the captured CO2 will not be limited to pipelines, but could be extended to road and rail tankers. Power plant parameters and storage site data were collected for this research. Public transportation, utilities, landscapes, river, land used and population data were referenced from various sources; therefore, some of the data could be out of date. Nevertheless, it should still provide enough information when deciding the location of the transport cluster. Any future work could build on the existing model with updated data. Moreover, it could fit in with the national natural gas transportation network and utility planning network to provide long term integrated energy system analysis. The paper could provide policy makers, investors and urban planning officials with a view on how conventional thermal power plant investment and planning could be optimised, using Carbon Capture Ready designs, to keep the CCS retrofitting option open. Previous studies on land use have largely focused on characteristics of quota allocation and spatial distribution based on time series analysis. However, indwelling patterns, combined space–time characteristics and terrain gradient effects are often hidden from the regional territorial spatial planning process. By using spatial econometric techniques, including hot spot analysis, landscape theory, a space–time cube model and a terrain–niche index, this paper aimed to assist regional planning by revealing these hidden characteristics in Guangdong Province, China. The results were as follows: urban construction land had formed an agglomerated region at the center of the study area, surrounded by many smaller satellite cities, which resembled a mainland–island metapopulation pattern. Three hot spot types—oscillating (32.45 % of the region), sporadic (1.85 %) and persistent (6.83 %)—formed the main space–time pattern throughout the study period. The main patterns included persistent hot spots in the Pearl River Delta, approximating a strip pattern of sporadic and oscillating hot spots from the east to west, with persistent cold spots in the north. Dry land cropping showed an increase in area at terrain levels 3–6 while in other terrains the area of dry land cropping decreased over time. These findings indicate that more attention needs to be paid to maintaining or adjusting the shape and equilibrium between the mainland and the island cities in the future. Steeper terrain is normally considered for cropland when conflicts exist for land use, which might decrease cropland quality to some extent. Salinization is one of the main causes of conversion between different ecosystems and landuse functions in coastal wetlands. In this paper, we studied the spatiotemporal dynamics of soil moisture and salinity in a reclaimed national wetland park in Guangdong Province, China. We found that diel evaporation affected soil water up to 40 cm deep. Extreme rainfall only increased topsoil moisture with limited leaching effects on soil salinity. Salt accumulation occurred between 40 and 70 cm depth in rainy season, lasting until the end of monitoring period. Whereas the topsoil was salinized between land-surface to 30 cm deep in dry season, which was recovered after rainfall. This result suggested that the force balance between capillarity and gravity created a relative stable saline layer which was not flushed out during inundation. Therefore, considering these site-specific features could lead to the improved understanding of the migration of salinity in the soil profiles. • Soil salinization was captured at high spatial and temporal resolution. • Neither hypersalinization nor complete flushing was observed during evaporation or rainstorm inundation. • Soil salinity trends were complicated depending on multiscale transport processes. Aquaculture plays a crucial role in the global food security and nutrition supply, where China accounts for the largest market share. Although there are some studies that focus on large-scale extraction of coastal aquaculture ponds from satellite images, they have often variable accuracies and encounter misclassification due to the similar geometric characteristics of various vivid water bodies. This paper proposes an efficient and novel method that integrates the spatial characteristics and three biophysical parameters (Chlorophyll-a, Trophic State Index, and Floating Algae Index) to map coastal aquaculture ponds at a national scale. These parameters are derived from bio-optical models based on the Google Earth Engine (GEE) cloud computing platform and time series of high-resolution Sentinel-2 images. Our proposed method effectively addresses the misclassification issue between the aquaculture ponds and rivers, lakes, reservoirs, and salt pans and achieves an overall accuracy of 91 % and a Kappa coefficient of 0.83 in the Chinese coastal zone. Our results indicate that the total area of Chinese coastal aquaculture ponds was 1,039,214 ha in 2019, mainly distributed in the Shandong and Guangdong provinces. The highest aquaculture intensity occurs within the 1 km coastal buffer zone, accounting for 22.4 % of the total area. Furthermore, more than half of the Chinese coastal aquaculture ponds are concentrated in the 0–5 km buffer zone. Our method is of general applicability and thus is suitable for large-scale aquaculture ponds mapping projects. Tephrosia vogelii Hook was excellent insecticidal plant, it was introduced into China and planted over a large area in Guangdong province. The main active components of T. vogelii was rotenone and it widely found in leaves and pods of T. vogelii. This paper study of the safety assessment of T. vogelii flowers to worker bees. In this paper, the content of rotenone in T. vogelii petal, nectar, pollen, pistil, and stamen samples were investigated by HPLC, and tested the toxicity of T. vogelii flowers for Apis cerana cerana during 24 h. The dissipation and dynamic of rotenone in A. c. cerana different biological compartments were investigated under indoor conditions during 24 h. The results showed, The LT 50 of T. vogelii flowers to worker bees were collected from the eastern, western, southern, northern and top were 13.95, 24.17, 12.55, 26.48, and 18.84 h, the haemolymph of worker bees have the highest content of rotenone, the least accumulation of rotenone in workers bee's thorax, and the rate of dissipation was slowly during the whole study. Urban waste management is a huge task for achieving regional sustainability. Reinforced waste management is being expedited to achieve enhanced resource, energy and environmental benefits (REEBs). In this study, an integrated municipal solid waste management system focusing on reinforced waste recycling and energy recovery is constructed. Considering regional disparities in waste composition and suitability for waste recycling, three scenarios with moderate, strengthened and complete waste collection and recycling levels are designed. Targeting 31 Chinese provincial regions, resource recovery potentials from recyclables, energy recovery potentials from incineration and anaerobic digestion, and mitigated environmental impact potentials in four aspects are evaluated. The results indicate that in 2019, the complete resource recovery capacity is 60.25 million tons (metal 4.3%, rubber & plastic 47.7%, glass 10.0% and paper 38.0%). Through incineration and anaerobic digestion, total power generation could amount to 36.39 billion kWh in the complete scenario. The complete mitigated potentials of global warming (52.5%) and eutrophication (43.1%) are much larger, followed by that of acidification (3.6%) and photochemical oxidization (0.8%). Guangdong, Jiangsu, Shandong, Zhejiang and Sichuan are more advantageous in terms of the REEBs. The novelty of this study lies in the elaborative assessment of the integrative benefits of reinforced waste management incorporating regional socioeconomic disparities. Abstract: This paper studies the historical process of urbanization and hotel development using time-series data of Guangdong Province in China from 1994 to 2010. Research results are based on a systematic analysis studying the relationship between hotel development and urbanization. This study adopts pooled OLS, feasible generalized least square, and fixed effect model to study urbanization effects on hotel development. This study identifies that the GDP per capita, non-agricultural population proportion, hospital beds, length of highways, and domestic tourism are the key determinants affecting hotel development. All variables exhibit a positive relationship with hotel growth. This study provides insight and empirical evidences on how urbanization affects hotel development at the provincial level. Abstract: Thallium (Tl) contamination in soils poses a significant threat to human health due to the high toxicity of Tl and its ready assimilation by crops. Consumption of food crops contaminated with Tl is a major food chain route for human exposure. The health risks of Tl in contaminated food crops irrigated with wastewater from a sulfuric acid factory were investigated in this paper. Results indicate that long-term Tl-containing wastewater irrigation resulted in Tl contamination of arable soils and crops. The pollution load index values indicated that the arable soils were moderately enriched with Tl. Tl was highly accumulated in the crops. The content of Tl in the edible plant portions of crops ranged from 1.2mg/kg to 104.8mg/kg, exceeding the recommended permissible limits for food crops. The daily intake of metals (DIM) values of Tl for both adults and children via the consumption of the food crops except soya beans were higher than the reference oral dose (RfD) limit recommend by the United States environmental protection agency (US-EPA). Health risk index (HRI) values were generally higher than 1, indicating that health risks associated with Tl exposure are significant and assumed to be dangerous to the health of local villagers. Therefore, much attention should be paid to avoid consumption of these Tl-contaminated crops that can cause great potential risks. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Abstract: In China, the imported Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) has been steadily increased in past years, with its constituents different from those of traditional pipeline natural gases (PNG) to various extents. In this paper several natural gases to be delivered to Guangdong provinces in China were selected as test gases to measure performance response of 17 sets of domestic gas cookers. Heat input rating, CO and NO x emission, and thermal efficiency was measured according to related national standards. American Gas Association indexes and Weaver indexes were used to predict combustion stability and emission under different gas constituents. Experiment results were compared with prediction to analyze the applicability of the two well-established indexes systems. It was concluded that Wobbe Index can predict heat input rating quite accurately, and CO and NO x emissions can be remained with reasonable limits for the changing constituents discussed. For combustion stability prediction, judgment criteria should be adjusted as follows: Weaver lifting index from J L ≥ 0.64 to J L ≥ 0.95, Weaver incomplete combustion index from J I ≤ 0.05 to J I ≤ 0.04, and AGA lifting index from I L ≤ 1.10 to I L ≤ 1.05. Abstract: The exploitative intensity evaluation of bays is meaningful for the ecological conservation, future utilization and integrated management of bays in China; especially for the regions where the economic development is depending on the coastal exploitation. Nevertheless, the complexity of morphology and structure of bays make the study a little bit difficult. A physical impulse-based approach to evaluate the exploitative intensity of bay was put forward in this paper. First of all, the differentiation in morphological, spatial location and structure of bays were analyzed, and the bay was separated into geographical elements of axes and areas accordingly; secondly, the exploitation and utilization process was abstracted and assumed using physical principles; Thirdly, physical Impulse-based Model of exploitative intensity evaluation was build according to the Law of Momentum which can convert the process variable to state variable. Daya Bay of Guangdong province in China was taken as a case study, four key time indicating the construction of large coastal engineering near Daya Bay coast were selected, namely year 1986, 1991, 2001 and 2004. The exploitative intensities of each spatial element of Daya Bay during 1986–1991, 1991–2001, and 2001–2004 were calculated and analyzed. The results show that the exploitative intensity of intertidal flat in Daya Bay during the study time spans is highest. Abstract: Flood has kept causing disasters to the east river basin. This paper developed an inundation risk model to estimate the economic loss in the scenarios of events with different frequency. A method was used to estimate the flooding area in the east river basin, using the digital elevation model (DEM), GIS spatial analysis, and hydrology calculation. Since the flow in East River is partly controlled by several reservoirs, the flooding area has been greatly reduced. The model was also used to estimate the flooding area in the case of reservoir control. Results indicated that there is a logarithm correlation between the flooding area and the flood frequency. The decrease in flooding area due to reserviors will be about 25%. Some sediment problems that alter the fluvial process like sediment mining were also discussed with this model. Abstract: This paper investigates the relationship between water pollution and economic growth in four cities of Guangdong Province in China based on the environmental Kuznets curve hypothesis, using urban data over 1990–2009. Waste water is used as the environmental indicator and per capita GDP is used as the economic indicator. Cubic function is used to formulate the relationship, with quadratic function and logarithmic function as comparison. The results show that the relationship between waste water and per capita GDP of Guangzhou city is inverse U-shaped, those of Shenzhen, Heyuan and Huizhou are not inverse U-shaped until 2009. Abstract: The enactment and implementation of the 2003 EIA Law in China institutionalised the role of plan environmental impact assessment (PEIA). While the philosophy, methodology and mechanisms of PEIA have gradually permeated through the various levels of government with a positive effect on the process and outcome of urban planning, only a few cities in China have so far carried out PEIA as a Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA)-type procedure. One such case is the southern city of Shenzhen. During the past three decades, Shenzhen has grown from a small town to a large and booming city as China has successfully and rapidly developed its economy by adopting the “reform and open door” policy. In response to the challenges arising from the generally divergent processes of rapid urbanisation, economic transformation and environment protection, Shenzhen has incrementally adopted the SEA concept in developing the city''s Master Urban Plan. As such, this paper reviews the effectiveness of PEIA in three ways: [•] as a tool and process for achieving more sustainable and strategic planning; [•] to determine the level of integration of SEA within the planning system; and, [•] its effectiveness vis-à-vis implementation. The implementation of PEIA within Shenzhen''s Master Urban Plan offers important insights into the emergence of innovative practices in undertaking PEIA as well as theoretical contributions to the field, especially in exploring the relationship between PEIA and SEA and highlighting the central role of local governing institutions in SEA development. Abstract: With the expansion of human activities, human-dominated land cover conversion has become the most prominent cause of habitat fragmentation. Urbanization is currently one of the most significant factors driving land conversion and causing habitat fragmentation. Habitat isolation, as one major component of habitat fragmentation, is a dynamic process and complicated to evaluate and quantify. This paper intends to investigate habitat isolation due to rapid urbanization. Two new metrics, Urbanization Isolation Effect (UIE) and Habitat Isolation Degree (HID), are proposed to incorporate urban sprawl and population increase into the quantification of habitat isolation, and demonstrate its spatio-temporal variation. The Shenzhen River catchment, a cross-boundary region shared by Hong Kong and Shenzhen SEZ in China, has been used as a case study to demonstrate the effectiveness of these proposed metrics. The results show that (1) extensive land conversion to urban utility has occurred since 1988, especially on the Shenzhen side of the catchment; (2) the metrics of UIE and HID exhibited remarkable spatial and temporal variations in the whole catchment and also displayed a significant discrepancy between Hong Kong and Shenzhen; and (3) urban sprawl on the Shenzhen side exerted trans-boundary influences on habitats of the Hong Kong side. In summary, the two proposed metrics are proved to be effective in demonstrating the spatio-temporal variation of habitat isolation and its causes, as well as identifying the extent and intensity of the urbanization isolation effect. Abstract: This paper presents the results of a set of numerical models focussing on structural controls on hydrothermal mineralization. We first give an overview of natural phenomena of structurally-controlled ore formation and the background theory and mechanisms for such controls. We then provide the results of a group of simple 2D numerical models validated through comparison with Cu-vein structure observed near the Shilu Copper deposit (Yangchun, Guangdong Province, China) and finally a case study of 3D numerical modelling applied to the Hodgkinson Province in North Queensland (Australia). Two modelling approaches, discrete deformation modelling and continuum coupled deformation and fluid flow modelling, are involved. The 2D model-derived patterns are remarkably consistent with the Cu-vein structure from the Shilu Copper deposit, and show that both modelling approaches can realistically simulate the mechanical behaviours of shear and dilatant fractures. The continuum coupled deformation and fluid flow model indicates that pattern of the Cu-veins near the Shilu deposit is the result of shear strain localization, development of dilation and fluid focussing into the dilatant fracture segments. The 3D case-study models (with deformation and fluid flow coupling) on the Hodgkinson Province generated a number of potential gold mineralization targets. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Abstract: This paper uses two methods LMDI and Laspeyres to analysis the influences the industrial structure has on energy consumption,including how much the three industries have contribution to energy intensity .The results we conclude are:1) Economy has a strong stimulating effect on energy consumption;2)The effect of improving energy efficiency by using science and technology is significant in Guangdong province, especially in the secondary industry; 3) The secondary industry plays a positive role in reducing energy intensity, and the advantages of the tertiary industry isn’t displayed. Abstract: Economic instrument is indubitably perceived as effective for encouraging or forcing contractors to conduct environmentally friendly construction practices. Previous studies in relation to this topic mainly put emphasis on economic analysis of construction and demolition (C&D) waste management from a static point of view, which failed to consider its dynamics nature by integrating all essential activities throughout the waste chain. This paper is thus intended to highlight the dynamics and interrelationships of C&D waste management practices and analyze the cost–benefit of this process using a system dynamics approach. Data related to concrete and aggregate of a construction project in Shenzhen was collected for the application of the proposed model. The findings reveal that net benefits from conducting C&D waste management will occur, but a higher landfill charge will lead to a higher net benefit, as well as an earlier realization of the net benefit. In addition, the general public under a higher landfill charge will suffer from a higher environmental cost caused by illegal dumping. The simulation results also suggest that current regulation in Shenzhen should be promoted to facilitate a dramatic increase in net benefit from the implementation of C&D waste management. This research is of value in facilitating better understanding on the dynamics of C&D waste management activities throughout the waste chain, as well as providing a tool for simulating the cost–benefit of C&D waste management practices over the project duration. Abstract: Guangdong has China''s highest GDP of any province and actively advocates low-carbon development. At present, Guangdong''s low-carbon roadmap emphasizes the adjustment of industrial structure, increased energy saving and efficiency, and renewable and nuclear energy, while CCS is not featured. This is partially due to the geographical gap in the existing body of research on CCS in China, as to date no substantial research on CCS has taken place in the regions south of the Yangtze River, including Guangdong. This paper presents the partial outcome of the first CCS-related research in Guangdong, which is aiming for a preliminary assessment on the effective CO2 storage capacity in the Pearl River Mouth Basin (PRMB) offshore Guangdong. As the storage capacity onshore Guangdong is limited as shown by a parallel study, the offshore sedimentary basins deserve particular attention. The PRMB is the largest sedimentary basin in the passive margin of the northern South China Sea, with a total area of nearly 200000km2 and maximum sediment thickness of over 14km. Based on published data, geological conditions and parameters for CO2 storage are analyzed, volumes of potential formations are calculated on a GIS platform, and the storage capacity is calculated according to CSLF and USDOE formulations. The estimated effective storage capacity is 308Gt in deep saline formations, including 0.06Gt in oil and gas fields. This capacity is sufficiently large for storaging the CO2 emitted from the major point sources in Guangdong in many decades. Promising areas are suggested for further investigations. Abstract: Based on the data analysis of materials collected from 785 question-and-answer surveys in Guangdong, the paper obtains some main characteristic of technology innovation within SMEs and regional environment and draws some conclusions as follow: Technology innovative capacity of those SMEs in Guangdong has gained a significant improvement at the same time innovation output performance such as patent level is pool; Most of the SMEs choose cooperation strategy and simulated strategy as their enterprise technology innovative strategy; Supplied merchant and custom play an important role in innovative network, but high school, research institution and agency service institution have less role; To improve technology and administration level is the main innovative motivation for those SMEs, but lack of skilled labor force, new technology and law environment is the restricted condition of Guangdong innovative environment; Most of the SMEs hold optimism attitude for Gguangdong province and think that Pearl river delta is their first choice for industrial investment in future. Abstract: In order to determine a suitable outlet location of wastewater marine discharge engineering in the Maogang economic development zone of Maoming city, Guangdong, the paper analyzed the hydrological conditions, marine environmental function zoning, sensitivity degree and economic cost near the Maogang district and initially identified two optional outlets: the industrial discharge area of the district (outlet A) and the Shuidong bay port area (outlet B).Then the marine numerical model ECOMSED was applied to simulate the physical self-purification ability of the waters and the seawater exchange capacity of the outlet A and outlet B, respectively. Before the application of the ECOMSED model, it was validated with the hydrological data of the Shuidong bay and its neayby waters provided by the estuarine and coastal institute of Sun Yat-sen university. The simulation result shows that the physical serf-purification ability of the outlet A is stronger than that of the outlet B under the most unfavourable situation, with smaller influencing scope for the outlet A when the concentration increment of CODMn is bigger than O.Olmg/L. In terms of seawater exchange capacity, the outlet A also turns to be better than B, with the water residence of the outlet B 2.7 times as much as that of the outlet A. The She language is a member of the Hmong-Mien family, spoken in mountainous areas in eastern Guangdong of China by about 1,500 people. Its long history of contact with the Hakka dialects of Chinese is well acknowledged in literature. In this paper, we investigate how contact governed the evolution of She initial system, making it become a Hakka-like pattern. It is thought that Hakka-She, the second language spoken by the Hakka people when they came into contact with the She, played a particular important role in shaping the present She initials. Taking Jiangsu Province and Guangdong Province for example, this paper analyzes the influence of the appreciation of RMB exchange rate on the trade of two provinces' mechanical and electrical products. In this text, it is deemed that the appreciation of RMB exchange rate makes a slight impact on the trade of both Jiangsu and Guangdong's mechanical and electrical products in a short time. The GDP increase of the main trade partner countries is the most important reason for the balance of trade surplus. However, in the long run, with RMB exchange rate revaluation to a big margin and the new labor law put into practice, the exporting advantage of low added mechanical and electrical products will disappear.
