The article presents a study on the sexual dimorphism in pre-cloacal pores and in morphological characters in Amphisbaena nigricauda Gans, 1966, a reptile endemic to the states of Espirito Santo and Bahia, Brazil. Topics covered include the sex determination of the species, the redefinition of its diagnosis in terms of number of body annuli, dorsal and ventral segments, and the autotomic tail annulus position. It also notes of the difference between male and female body sizes.

The article highlights the first record of Raillietiella gigliolii infecting Amphisbaena alba in Northeast Brazil. It mentions that a stereomicroscope was used in searching for pentastomids.
