Little attention has been directed to the longer-term survivorship phase for older breast cancer survivors (BCSs) who often continue to struggle with late and long-term adverse effects of treatment including lower physical functioning, fear of recurrence, stress and anxiety, neuropathies, and pain. Creative and accessible strategies are needed that offer support to this population of cancer survivors.

To ascertain what types of policies exist in regard to editorial control among professional nursing associations who publish journals, the author has conducted a survey. Twenty-three editors or staff members of nursing association-sponsored journals and newsletters, selected from the mailing list of the International Association of Nursing Editors, were asked to respond to a mailed survey on editorial control. Thirteen responses were received from 11 editors and 2 association staff. Respondents represented 18 publications. INSET: Sample Comments on Editorial Control.

Editors are particularly interested in articles documenting cost effective practice or assisting occupational health professionals in demonstrating how they manage health care costs. Clinical topics of interest include ergonomics, case management, fibromyalgia, legal or regulatory issues that impact occupational health and safety, chemical exposures, violence in workplace, international occupational health and safety issues and hazards to health care workers. Readers have expressed high interest in articles on business management practices, such as writing a business plan, starting a business and costing out contract services.
