2. Optimizing FTIR method for characterizing diagenetic alteration of skeletal material

Abstract

•Differences in diagenetic indices in different tissues and species were demonstrated.•The enamel is more resistant to diagenetic processes than bone and dentin.•SF index is related to tooth mineralisation patterns in animals with different diets.•Assessment of diagenesis should take into account the type of tissue and species.
