Analizar el contenido de los diferentes estudios publicados relacionados con el ejercicio físico y sus efectos sobre la incontinencia urinaria, así como determinar la efectividad de los programas de entrenamiento de suelo pélvico.

La deformidad de Haglund, el espolón calcáneo posterosuperior y el espolón plantar son las exostosis más frecuentes a nivel del talón, siendo importante estar familiarizado con ellas porque, en ocasiones, pueden asociarse a tendinopatía aquílea o a fascitis plantar, siendo estas las principales causas de dolor en el retropié. No obstante, estas exostosis pueden estar presentes en pacientes asintomáticos y, en ocasiones, coexistir simultáneamente, tendiendo que tener muy claros todos estos conceptos cuando nos encontremos con un paciente con dolor en el talón.

Abstract: Sierra de Callosa have an area of 8 km2 and a maximum altitude of 566 masl. Geologically, it is found to be primarily comprised of carbonated rocks. Mine spoils coming from limestone quarries extraction are often used in the working reclamation process. These materials could be actually employed profitably once conveniently amended with organic matter. A study on the temporary evolution of nutrients and several physical–chemical parameters in a mineral waste amended with municipal solid waste (MSW) compost has been carried out. The effect of incorporating such waste to mine spoils in an arid gravel quarry has been studied, quantifying the temporal evolution of nutrients and several physical–chemical parameters in the mixture. Three plots have been prepared with mine spoils proceeding from a limestone quarry located in the south of the province of Alicante (municipality of Redován). These plots have been amended with 3 kg/m2 of MSW compost. Texture, pH, electrical conductivity, oxidizable organic matter, N-Kjeldahl, available P, Na, K, Ca, Mg, Fe, Mn, Cu and Zn were analysed. The results reflected the contribution of nutrients to the substrate after the MSW addition. The variability of the information indicated the heterogeneity of the MSW composition, as well as the difficulty of obtaining a homogeneous MSW mixture–mineral waste.

Corynebacterium group D2 (CGD2) is involved in urinary tract infections in patients with underlying predisposing factors. This microorganism is highly resistant to a number of antimicrobial agents. We tested the activities of 79 antimicrobial agents against CGD2. beta-Lactams, aminoglycosides, and macrolides were ineffective. Fluorinated quinolones showed irregular activities, ofloxacin being the most active one. Doxycycline, rifampin, and mainly glycopeptides (vancomycin and teicoplanin) were the most active antibiotics against CGD2.

The susceptibility of 2,426 gram-negative bacteria obtained from 18 Spanish hospitals to ciprofloxacin was evaluated. Among different medical centers, susceptibility to ciprofloxacin ranged from 83 to 100 % forEnterobacteriaceae, from 35 to 100 % forPseudomonas aeruginosa, from 0 to 100 % forXanthomonas maltophilia, Acinetobacter spp. and other gram-negative non-fermenting bacilli, and from 33 to 100 % forCampylobacter spp. All clinical isolates ofHaemophilus influenzae, Moraxella catarrhalis andNeisseria gonorrhoeae were susceptible to ciprofloxacin.

The in vitro activities of amoxicillin, cefuroxime, ceftetrame, cefetamet, cefixime, tigemonam, erythromycin, roxithromycin, and dirithromycin against 30 clinical isolates of Campylobacter pylori were determined by an agar dilution technique. Roxithromycin and amoxicillin (MICs for 90% of isolates tested, 0.01 and 0.06 micrograms/ml, respectively) were the most active antibiotics tested, but all strains were susceptible to all antimicrobial agents tested.

The susceptibilities of 120 clinical isolates of Brucella melitensis and 3 reference strains of the same species to six fluoroquinolones (clinafloxacin, PD 117596, PD 131628, PD 138312, PD 140248, and ciprofloxacin) were examined by agar dilution MIC methodology. Clinafloxacin was the most active compound tested (MIC at which 50% of strains tested were inhibited [MIC50] and MIC90 of 0.06 micrograms/ml). Its level of activity was slightly higher than that of PD 117596 (MIC50 and MIC90 of 0.12 micrograms/ml). PD 131628 and ciprofloxacin were less active than clinafloxacin, with MIC50s ranging from 0.12 to 0.25 micrograms/ml and MIC90s of between 0.25 and 0.5 micrograms/ml for the two compounds. The activity levels of PD 138312 and PD 140248, with MIC50s ranging from 1 to 2 micrograms/ml and MIC90s of 4 to 8 micrograms/ml, were lower than those of the other fluoroquinolones tested.
