AbstractWe introduce a novel paoliid, Carbonidelia gallicagen. et sp. nov., which may share close affinities with the ‘ideliid’ genus SojanideliaStorozhenko, 1992. This new taxon is described from Gzhelian strata exposed at Tante Victoire in Var, France. Additionally, we present a remarkably well-preserved forewing from the same outcrop belonging to the phyloblattid genus and species Anthracoblattina ensifercf. ‘variety desguini’. This species was previously known from the Gzhelian of Commentry in Allier, France. Therefore, this finding strengthens the Gzhelian age derived from the study of the palaeoflora at this outcrop. In this study, we also briefly delve into the inter- and intraspecific variability in the forewing venation of the ‘Anthracoblattina gigantea-ensiferagroup’. Furthermore, we challenge the classification of two Mesozoic roachoids, Sobytie tungusicumVršanský, 2010and Pozabudnutie antiquorumHinkelman and Vršanský, 2022, which, in our view, do not belong to the Phyloblattidae family. Instead, they should be regarded as Dictyoptera of uncertain family affinities. SummaryTwo French fossil Histeridae are described or revised, viz. Hister cerestensisn. sp. from the Oligocene of Céreste (Lubéron) and Plegaderus pitoni(Theobald, 1935), n. comb.from the Pliocene of Chambon Lake (Puy-de-Dôme). Morphometric data are used to compare fossil and extant taxa, with multivariate statistics. A list of the fossil Histeridae is given.

The first European representative of the South American family Xenopteraidae (Insecta: Megasecoptera) discovered in the Guadalupian of Lodève (France). Alcheringa 43, 436–440. ISSN 0311-5518.A new genus, Sinitshenkovaegen. nov., is described, comprising the Carboniferous species Sinitshenkovae hueneckeni(Pinto & Pinto de Ornellas, 1978) comb. nov. from South America and new Guadalupian species S. gallicasp. nov. from France. These two species are attributed to the Paleozoic South American family Xenopteraidae, a previously monospecific family only containing Xenoptera riojaensisPinto, 1986. A new, extraordinary ‘damselfly-like’ Odonatoptera from the Pennsylvanian of the Avion locality in Pas-de-Calais, France (Insecta: ‘Exopterygota’). Alcheringa43, 241–245. ISSN 0311-5518.Enigmaptera magnificagen. et sp. nov., type genus and species of the new odonatopteran family Enigmapteridae, is described from the Moscovian of Avion (northern France). It is the sister group of the major clade Neodonatoptera, placed together in the new clade Paneodonatoptera. Its wing venation has characters never found in other Odonatoptera. It is a further case of convergent wing petiolation in this superorder. Enigmaptera magnifica, like the protozygopteran Jacquesoudardia magnificafrom the same outcrop, probably lived like the extant damselflies along the shores of lakes and rivers, hunting the small insects found in the same deposits. Trueman and Rowe (2019) claimed that they have finally solved the wing venation homologies for the Odonatoptera, refuting the previous models, and especially that of Riek and Kukalová-Peck (1984). Nevertheless, their proposal has several failures, viz. nature of the distal part of their “anal vein”, nature of the “MA”, and incongruence with recent results obtained by Jacquelin et al. (2018) on the morphology of the extreme wing base. Currently the only pattern of venation in total accordance with the known data is that of Riek and Kukalová-Peck (1984), as modified in Nel et al. (1993) and Jacquelin et al. (2018).

SummaryThe diversity of arthropods is studied, at family and species level, on a pig carcass during a warm season in an open field in Badghan-Mount Lebanon. Ten orders of arthropods were found associated to the carcass. A total of 1168 specimens of adults Diptera and Coleoptera were collected. Among Diptera, the predator Chrysomya albicepswas dominant on the carcass during the active decay stage and Muscaspp. were necrophagous. Within Coleoptera, Creophilus maxillosus(Linnaeus, 1758), Philonthus concinnus (Gravenhorst, 1802), Aleochara lataGravenhorst, 1802, and Saprinussp. were the predator taxa. Dermestes frischiiKugelann, 1792 and Necrobia rufipes(De Geer, 1775) were more present during the advanced decay, together with anthicids. In addition to a list of species visiting the carcass, we carried out a multivariate analysis of principal components to explore the relationships between the pattern of presences of 16 insect families and the four decomposition stages during the first 30 days of the carcass decomposition. The groupings of insects during the four decomposition stages show significant dissimilarities, suggesting that the different stages are characterized by different insect associations, as reported in many other previous studies.Résumé. La succession des communautés d’arthropodes sur une carcasse de porc au Liban : approches à divers niveaux taxonomiques et notes faunistiques. La diversité des arthropodes est étudiée, au rang familial et spécifique, sur une carcasse de porc pendant la saison chaude en milieu naturel, sur le site de Badghan-Mount, au Liban. Dix ordres d’arthropodes ont été trouvés associés à la carcasse. Un total de 1168 spécimens adultes de Diptères et de Coléoptères a été collecté. Parmi les Diptères, le prédateur Chrysomya albicepsétait dominant sur la carcasse au stade de décomposition active. Les Muscaspp. étaient nécrophages. Les groupements d’insectes montrent des dissimilarités significatives, ce qui suggère que les différents stades sont caractérisés par des associations différentes d’insectes, de façon analogue à ce qui a été rapporté dans plusieurs études antérieures.

SummaryNew insects are described from the Middle Permian (Guadalupian) of Salagou Formation in the Lodève Basin (Languedoc region, France). Palaeopterans are represented by new odonatopterans viz. Huangiopterum lodevensen. gen., n. sp. and Huangiopterumspecies B, attributed to clade Panodonata (Huangiopteridae n. fam.), already recorded through the family Saxonagrionidae in the same formation, and a diaphanopterodean Martynoviacf. halliBeckemeyer 2004 (Martynoviidae) known from the Lower Permian of Oklahoma. Archaeorthopterans are supplemented by Bethouxia ariegensisn. gen., n. sp., Paralongzhua elongatan. gen., n. sp., Lodevolongzhua incompletan. gen., n. sp., the caloneurodean Jarmiloptera mouralensisn. gen., n. sp., and a cnemidolestodean cf. Tococladussp. (Tococladidae). Permophyllum rotundatumn. sp. (?Tettigoniidae) demonstrates the first presence of Orthoptera with wings probably mimicking Peltaspermales reproductive organs in Late Palaeozoic possibly analogous to the known crypsis of roachoid tegmina with pteridosperm pinnules. Frequent occurrence of hardly identifiable grylloblattid wing fragments support their significant role in term of abundance and diversity of the Permian faunas. New taxa based on wing venation pattern as Genera and species undetermined A, B (Liomopteridae), Permobaharellus salagousensisn. gen., n. sp. (family uncertain), Lodevophlebia reticulatan. gen., n. sp. (Sylvaphlebiidae), Oborella lodevensisn. sp. (Euryptilonidae), and Genus and species undetermined C, were described. Paoliida is represented by a paoliid gen. et sp. indet. and three anthracoptilids Strephocladus gandin. sp., Strephocladus mouralensisn. sp., Lodevocladus subtilisn. gen., n. sp. The first record of miomopteran Palaeomantissp. (Paleomanteidae) from Salagou Formation is presented. Acercarian insects are represented by the first record of Thripida and diverse new hemipterans, namely Euroscytina lutevanorumn. gen., n. sp. (Cicadomorpha: Scytinopteridae), Prosbole dion. sp., Prosbole garricin. sp., Pervestigiacf. veterisBecker-Migdisova 1961 (Prosbolidae), Archescytinaspecies A (Paleorrhyncha: Archescytinidae) and Permopsyllidium lesclansisn. sp. (Sternorrhyncha: Psylloidea: Protopsyllidiidae). Entomofauna from the Salagou Formation demonstrate highly diverse insect communities with some taxa linked to early and late Permian ones known from assemblages in Euramerica and Russia, such as Obora (Czech Republic), Wellington Formation (Kansas and Oklahoma, USA), and Tshekarda (Ural, Russia).

Extant Archaeidae, also known as pelican or assassin spiders, have an Austral distribution (South Africa, Madagascar and Australia), but were present in Eurasia during the Mesozoic and Cenozoic, as attested by fossils from Cretaceous Burmese amber (Ross A. 2019. Burmese (Myanmar) amber checklist and bibliography 2018. Palaeoentomology2(1): 22–84) and Eocene European ambers (Wunderlich J. 2004. Fossil spiders in amber and copal: conclusions, revisions, new taxa and family diagnoses of fossil and extant taxa. Hirschberg-Leutershausen: Ed. Joerg Wunderlich, 1893 p.). They have been known to occur in Oise amber (Ypresian, early Eocene, MP7), from northern France. However, they are not abundant in Oise amber, and have been the subject of few studies until now. Here, we describe the only well-preserved, almost complete, archaeid fossil specimen. This adult male is described as Myrmecarchaea antecessorsp. nov, based on the presence of unique morphological features. The elongate petiolus and extremely long legs are characteristic of the genus Myrmecarchaeafrom the Middle Eocene Baltic amber. However, unique traits such as the thick, stout petiolus and the extremely elongated, posteriorly tapering cephalothorax distinguish it from the other species of Myrmecarchaea. This specimen is of high interest, as besides being a new species, it is also the first documented adult male in the genus, allowing us to observe sexual characters for the first time. Furthermore, it is the first occurrence of this genus outside Baltic amber, showing affinities between Oise and Baltic ambers, which are, otherwise, very different in their faunistic compositions, and further extends the known past range of the archaeid spiders.

RésuméLe Pentatomidae (Insecta : Hemiptera) d’origine asiatique Halyomorpha halys(Stal 1855) a été trouvée en Ile de France (Paris intra muroset Lardy, Essonne) à la fin de l’année 2013. Ces occurrences font suite à celle de l’été 2013 dans l’agglomération de Strasbourg, près de la frontière allemande. Il s’agit de la 5emention de cette espèce en Europe après la Suisse, l’Allemagne, et l’Italie. Il serait nécessaire de surveiller l’expansion de cette espèce polyphage et dommageable à des nombreuses cultures, dont l’expansion en Europe est très rapide, et qui peut être un agent allergénique.

AbstractThe second fossil Ceratocombidae Leptonannus miocenicusn. sp. is described as first extinct representative of the genus, from the Middle Miocene Mexican amber. The species is distinguished from its related taxa, a discussion is given.
