Abstract

The article discusses the result of the study regarding the up-regulation of the claudin-6 gene in adipogenesis, in Japan. The claudin-6 mRNA was examined in adipose tissues and adipocyte differentiation, to investigate the role of claudin-6 in adipogenesis. In different adipose tissues, claudin-6 mRNA was also found to be differentially expressed and up-regulated in each fat depot of mice fed with a high-fat diet. Thus, claudin-6 is another crucial regulator in adipogenesis and fat deposition.
