Closing mountain afforestation is a low-cost, fast-gaining, forestry ecological management method that is conducive to protecting species resources and reducing forest pests and diseases. It has a huge role in protecting the environment, protecting species resources, and achieving ecological balance. In this paper, a field survey was conducted in the Qinling Mountains in southern Shaan:xi, China, and the test plots were selected to measure and investigate the vegetation growth status, the changes in vegetation types and the dry weight changes of the test site before and after enclosure. We estimate the economic value of the expected creation of the test site of carbon sinks, as well as the investment in the implementation of artificial afforestation and closing mountain afforestation. We analyzed the biological, carbon sequestration, economic and social benefits of closing mountain afforestation in the Qinling Mountains and concluded that the closing mountain afforestation effectively increased vegetation growth and biological volume accumulation and vegetation coverage. It has effectively protected the ecosystem and promoted the natural regeneration and growth of vegetation. Assuming the implementation of artificial afforestation on the trial site, the artificial afforestation of the test site plots cost more than 217,700 RMB than the closing mountain afforestation. Overall, the implementation of closing mountain afforestation is one-sixth of the investment cost of implementing afforestation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
