The article focuses on a study which examined the use of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) in treating cell injury models induced by aggregated Β-amyloid(25-35) (AΒ(25-35). Information on the histopathological hallmarks of Alzheimer's disease is given. Results of the study showed that BDNF was effective in preventing a decrease in PC 12 cell viability induced by AΒ(25-35). It also found that BDNF was able to reverse the cell apoptosis induced by AΒ(25-35).

The article presents a study which explained the role of beta-amyloid(Aβ)-induced cell apoptosis in PC12 cells such in the case of Alzheimer's disease. The researchers investigate the relation of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) with tropomyosin-related kinase B receptor. They found that beta-amyloid (25-35) can decrease the survival of PC12 cells and increase cleaved caspase-3 expression in PC12 cells.
